So moana is a water bender (on the internet anyway) makes me wonder if the sequel is gonna involve her oar being magic like the fishhook i can dream anyway…
Can we talk about how Ariel didn’t technically do anything to help, she just saw an opportunity to catch a ride on a wave and be extra and took it.
I mean i guess we could give the benefit of the doubt and say that maybe moana just commanded the water to shoot straight up and it was Ariel spinning that made it into a twisty shape for elsa to freeze? But since water bending isn’t exactly in either characters canon (moana usually just asks the ocean politely to do things rather than exerting control) who knows?
Edit: also pocahontas confirmed for Airbender. I also love that aurora, despite having been cursed by a spinning wheel, is like “fuck trauma imma learn how to master this son-of-a-bitch despite being royalty who would never have to touch un-spun fiber another day in my life should I so choose”. And snow white just having access to corrosive acid apples like its no big deal <3 new headcanon: snow white inherited all the lands and castle and witchy stuff from her stepmother and was like “eh, poison isn’t that different from cooking, you just can’t taste test what you make” and went ham in the queen’s workshop.
Also is that Naveen as a frog in tiaras hands? Does that mean naveen is Ralph’s true love and the birth of the Tiana, naveen, Ralph poly-triad?
…I’m sorry, but why are we calling Moana a water bender? Did… did you guys that she is friends with THE OCEAN? That is just Moans asking her buddy for help, and Ariel swimming in it so it gets into the best shape for helping.
Nothing super-special about seeing the MVS here. It just reminded me that I’ve been seeing fewer and fewer of these. This is also one of the machines I’d like to have one day. I’m not 100% set on which cartridges to use, but the ones seen here are good picks.
Virtual On (Sega)
A pretty fun head-to-head arena fighter featuring mechs that behave more like people than giant robots (you still control them with twin flight-sticks, though). You can’t really tell from the angle of the photo, but the machines actually have a built-in partition to prevent screen-looking.
Fix-It Felix (Disney?)
I had no idea that they actually made a real machine based on the game from the movie! The cabinet does a great job of imitating the Donkey Kong artwork. The game itself isn’t anything too special, but I felt a pretty strong sense of novelty from the fact that someone actually made this machine.
Fun fact: although the concept for this game was obviously inspired by Donkey Kong, the characters, level design, and gameplay more closely resemble those of Beauty and the Beast, a Donkey Kong ripoff that was released for the Intellivision:
Ice Cold Beer (Taito)
Not a video game, sure, but this was unusual enough that I wanted to include it. Basically, you have to control a ball bearing that’s tucked between a metal rod and a vertical playing field. You can control the slant on either side of the metal rod, and your goal is to navigate the ball bearing into one of the designated goals. It’s ridiculously challenging, but the idea is really cool.

Here’s a preview for the January fanart drawing, Wreck It Ralph, who was chosen randomly from a poll of suggestions by patrons. Since the 3rd goal has yet to be hit again this month, it remains exclusive to Patreon for now.
Because some of us were lamenting our prop work last week, and because I’ve mentioned it before…. not every assignment you get as a concept artist is a real gem. Some just have to get done. I’d love to see some from other people.
The Disney Princesses’ voice actresses at the D23 Expo. They are set to reprise their roles from previous Disney movies for the Wreck-It Ralph sequel, scheduled to be released on November 21, 2018.
