Here is my piece for #ofszine! The zine, featuring 50+ artists who draw their own version of a chosen scene, is currently available on Ko-Fi for $3, and all proceeds go to LGBTQIA+ charities.

Thanks to @c_leadraw for making this possible, I am so proud to have been featured in the first issue of this project, alongside with so many talented artists!

(Also this marked my first time drawing Alex and Henry, so I hope I did them justice✨)

Released from the weight of the jacket, Laurent rolled his shoulder, as he did sometimes after a long day in the saddle. Damen brought his hand up to squeeze Laurent’s shoulder gently— and then stopped.

Prince’s Gambit was by far my favorite out of the Captive Prince Trilogy. Golden Age vibes, Commander x Second-in-command, UST, it truly had it all to make me fall. This was one of the scenes that had me actually trembling while I was reading.

Kindle Daily Deal Alert

Margo Rabb’s Kissing in America is one of the Kindle daily deals for July 25th - for just $1.99 you, too, can read (what I hear is) one of the best books about loss and grief in recent history. Along with 39 other titles, it’s included in Amazon’s “Beach Reads on Kindle”promotion. Unfortunately, it’s not discounted for iBooks and Nook readers (sometimes it is, so I always check), but I’ve linked them below, as well.

In the two years since her father died, sixteen-year-old Eva has found comfort in reading romance novels—118 of them, to be exact—to dull the pain of her loss that’s still so present. Her romantic fantasies become a reality when she meets Will, who seems to truly understand Eva’s grief. Unfortunately, after Eva falls head-over-heels for him, he picks up and moves to California without any warning. Not wanting to lose the only person who has been able to pull her out of sadness—and, perhaps, her shot at real love—Eva and her best friend, Annie, concoct a plan to travel to the west coast to see Will again. As they road trip across America, Eva and Annie confront the complex truth about love.

In this honest and emotional journey that National Book Award finalist Sara Zarr calls “gorgeous, funny, and joyous,” readers will experience the highs of infatuation and the lows of heartache as Eva contends with love in all of its forms.

Meet the Artist: @novva

Hi y'all! My name is Lily A. (aka Novva), and I’m a children’s book illustrator and vocalist! I love working with vibrant colors and drawing characters who look like me. I’m currently an HBCU student studying Digital Art and am working on a picture book pitch about my Caribbean-American heritage.

Great to meet you, Lily! We’ve asked her to pick out some of her artworks to share below.

Yesterday, I had the most low key birthday. Spent the first few hours up in the air on a flight home. During that time, I read Mirage cover to cover. Book was fun and I didn’t deal with any upset that’s come with so many in the past. All in all, it was good. I should make it tradition to read an entire book each birthday henceforth.

Bookstagram 101: Embrace Ebooks — 5 tips for taking photos of your e-reader for bookstagram (or booklr)

Even though quite a number of us read ebooks, I don’t often see e-readers on my Tumblr dashboard or Instagram feed. I think that’s sad. Why exclude a format if it’s part of our reading lives?

I know for some, the difficulty lies in photographing them. That’s why I shared these tips on wordrevel.com.

Bookstagram 101: Consumerism

Truth be told, I sat on my latest blog post for several weeks. Consumerism on bookstagram is a touchy subject for many. Some feel that it has become too competitive, especially around rep search seasons. Others don’t like the promotion of watches or other products they don’t perceive as “bookish”. Those who love their bookish merchandise, though, want to share their excitement! So, how can we strike a balance? Do we even have to?

These issues are things I tried to reconcile, especially for anyone who is new too bookstagram or would like to join. At the same time, I think this is a discussion long-time bookstgrammers also need to have.

For my comprehensive thoughts, visit wordrevel.com

The beginning seemed rather long drawn to me, and I couldn’t fathom how this devilish twist mentioned on the cover of the book proof would factor in. I’ve still not come to that point but the mystery is building up, so I expect to henceforth get along with reading much quicker.

How do you feel about long introductions that take their own sweet time to get to the point?
