“You and your friends fill your mouths with big words–Social Justice, Freedom, Revolution–and meanwhile people waste away, they fall ill, many of them die. Speeches don’t feed people. What the people need are fresh vegetables, and a good fish broth at least once a week. I’m only interested in the kinds of revolution that start off by getting people sat at the table.”

In the end, it wasn’t the might of the city bureaucracy or law enforcement who got the constant blaring of truck horns to stop after more than week of terrorizing downtown Ottawa residents.

It was a 21-year-old resident of Centretown who had simply had enough.

“This situation, quite frankly, really ruffled my feathers,” Zexi Li, the lead plaintiff in a proposed class-action lawsuit told CTV Morning Live on Tuesday. “I really, really felt that no matter what, I had to do something.”

Oh wow, I didn’t know this. I have been hearing her name, but I assumed she was on Ottawa city council or something (I heard the city of Ottawa had started a class action, so I immediately assumed city council, not a regular citizen)

She’s a true hero in this.

Hey so I’m hyped that Trump’s gone and all but let’s just remember that things don’t magically get better from here on out - we have to keep working for them.

Keep supporting blm.

Keep protecting trans kids.

Keep welcoming immigrants.

Keep defending marriage equality.

Keep believing women.

Keep working to make our society more fair, just, and accepting of all.

The worst takes on this website are the ones which are just recycled right wing, imperialist, cis white conservative rhetoric but with a woke/feminist/gay cap on it,and its scary how so many people here unironically repeat them during discource while condemning the same arguments if they are said by cishet white conservative people.

I support all GNC people but can we please stop acting like gender nonconformity is the same in men as it is in women? Like “It’s okay to be a man who shaves his legs or a woman who doesn’t” or “boys can wear makeup too and girls don’t have to :))) it’s about choosing what you want”. I understand the intention behind it and of course, these statements are true, but acting like these things are comparable is just gross.

Gender nonconformity in men, in this context, is a performance, an active defiance (which is great and I support it!). For women it’s just… existing in their natural bodies. A woman could shipwreck onto an uninhabited island and she’d be the height of gender nonconformity. Stop treating natural female existence like it’s an active choice.

Want to know the worst thing?

I’m not even fucking surprised any more.

jonskory:

people will have BLM in their bios and yet be the first to resort to racist and anti black behavior the moment a black person tries to correct them. we’ll get branded as aggressive and uneducated. and there’s this assumption that we can’t be angry. that we have to be nice and hold non-blacks’ hands or some shit. it’s all very annoying

bigtransmoods:

- Being misgendered purposely
- Bullying
- Physical fights
- Verbal abuse and threats
- Sexual harassment
- Leaving home
- No support
- Friends as well as family disowning me
- Being called a tr*nny.
- Not being able to breathe or move because of dysphoria and binding.
- Depression and anxiety.
 AND A FUCK TONNE MORE.

So please can all trenders stop saying “being trans is so great, I love it.” It isn’t fun at all, fuck off.

Would they, though?

My ELEVEN-YEAR-OLD sister has to do her mandatory school work remotely from home because of lockdown. Tonight, my mum and I discovered that the app she has to use for class contains

MICROTRANSACTIONS.

Let me repeat that: microtransactions being put into an app that my little sister needs to use to receive her school assignments and participate in her education.

Basically, this is an app where the teacher uploads assignments for kids to do and every kid has a little monster that they use as an avatar in the virtual classroom. You can unlock new skins and customise your monster but it costs REAL MONEY.

Kids don’t need this kind of peer pressure. They already have to deal with these god damn transactions in all of their video games. They don’t need this in their VIRTUAL CLASSROOM APPS.

PLEASE STOP PREYING ON CHILDREN WHO ARE TRYING TO DO THEIR SCHOOL WORK.

My sister does not need to spend money customising her in-app classroom avatar. She is trying to do her maths assignments. She is a CHILD.

Why are microtransactions being put into TEACHING APPs that children are using for MANDATORY WORK during a PANDEMIC????

Abolish capitalism and all of these god damn parasites hurting our kids. Holy hell.

The best headline I have ever read

beast-with-the-least:

If a cis person, a straight person, a gamer, a white person, or a member of another non-oppressed group asks, “Where’s MY pride parade? Where’s MY special flag? Where’s MY exclusive club?” Then they must also ask…

“Where’s my fabric patch that my people were forced to wear on their clothing during the Holocaust?”

“Where are the laws that deny me being able to adopt children, marry my partner, or freely use the public bathroom that makes me feel safest?”

“Where are the politicians and religious figures that openly murder and imprison my people?”

If none of these questions make any sense in regard to their group, then perhaps they should next ask, “Why am I trivializing the traumatic history of oppressed people trying to survive in a world that violently tries to make them disappear?”
