This sketch I started before all the other lady pictures I’ve done recently, and I’ve gone back to it again and again… only I’ve been frustrated by the colors and other stuff. At one point the background was green. All sorts of brushes, none of which are doing what I’d envisioned. I’m posting this because everyone has this - stuff that’s just not working for them.
Max and Anne Bonny. Trying out some nib pens. This is mainly school-G fine with some rotring 2.0 on the edges. I have to draw reverse shading to get the ink to come out. Really nice to draw with. Lovely lines.
one day i will actually write a well-thought-out post on this but max and anne’s relationship being like. not only something with obvious intensity and gentle chemistry but also the way their love is something totally intertwined with their own narratives? i’m never going to get over it. these are two women both determined by incredible violence that entirely shapes their senses of self and identity and they fall in love because of that violence. max says you did not choose me something in you demanded it, and all throughout the first three seasons they love each other while thinking they can’t choose it. and then they fucking choose it. these vicious gentle women totally determined by violence and they literally choose to love each other with it. what the fuck
