Maybe instead of getting angry, we think “why am I making this assumption? Do I have implicit bias against this type of person? Am I just insecure about what they’re criticizing? Should I give them the benefit of the doubt that they meant no harm and just worded this poorly?” Because it seems everyone on this platform thinks everyone is an English major, a sociology major, a psychology major, an history major, AND neurotypical. Don’t assume you know what someone else means, maybe they’re fucking awful at expressing what they want to say, maybe they’re being 100% literal and you’re drawing too many conclusions, maybe YOU’RE the one who doesn’t have enough education and should ask for clarification instead of getting on your high horse of moral superiority and knowledge.

Just… Fucking leave people alone. Unless they’re fucking harrassing you or people you know, stay out of their business. Or if you’re really inclined to talk to them, do it respectfully by asking for clarification instead of making assumptions and chomping at the bit to cut their head off.

it really boils my blood that mattel gets props for having diversity in the fashionistas line when many named, speaking poc characters in the movies don’t get dolls like isla, jenna, samantha, marcus, and genevieve off the top of my head

like this bothers me bc they put these characters in knowing they don’t have to make dolls of them so they’re “safe” diversity whereas everyone goes nuts for the nameless fashionistas you see what I mean

Don’t forget Catherine! I mean, the Christmas Carol line wasn’t that large to begin with (which is disappointing in itself) but she played such a huge role and didn’t get a doll. Same for Hailey.

this isn’t even going into how when we do get poc characters they sometimes have waaaay lighter skin in the animation than their dolls. DM Isla obviously comes to mind as a recent example but also Cloud Queen Rayla and Princess Ashlyn I think are prominent; or the fact that Mattel often makes AA variants of movie dolls, not just playline, which seems so insidious bc it’s like why couldn’t you just make the character black in the first place? you’ll take their money but you don’t really want to represent those girls do you!

It all comes down to sales, you morons! Mattel is in the business of selling dolls, not catering to your SJW virtue signaling. They won’t do special POC dolls if they don’t think that their investment return will make it worth it. Are you that fucking stupid? Seriously.

If it’s wrong to cast a white person as a POC character, then it’s wrong to cast a POC as a white character. Making white characters POC isn’t good POC representation, creating good POC characters is. Hermione should not be black. Ariel should not be black.

like shockingly enough, minorities are not a hive mind. we don’t agree with each other on everything. someone holding a different opinion than you is not the same as racism, sexism, homophobia etc and to act like minorities are incapable of forming different opinions on their own without the influence of their oppressors is so fucking condescending. 

It’s easy to dismiss the Pittsburgh shooter as crazy or insane, but it is not responsible to do so.

To dismiss his evil as a symptom of insanity is to dismiss the responsibility that society holds. We want to call him crazy because we want to distance ourselves from his evil, we want to see ourselves as above it.

But his violent act is a symptom of a larger problem. The vast majority of people do not commit mass murder, but the fact of the matter is that many people in our society do hold the same sorts of antisemitic and xenophobic ideas. The Pittsburgh shooter knew other people who hated Jewish people and refugees, and it helped him feel justified in his beliefs.

The fact of the matter is that although this is an extreme example of antisemitism, antisemitic acts have actually been on the rise in the United States and abroad.

We have white supremacists and neo-Nazis marching in the streets. Do you really believe this is the work of one isolated madman?

Honestly I don’t get why people are always either anti-self dx of pro self dx. Like why can’t it be less black and white? Like don’t self diagnose if you have access to a doctor and don’t say ‘I’m 100% sure I have this’ but ‘I think I have this/I probably have this.’ Because it’s really easy to get it wrong, for instance, mistaking bpd for autism or puberty for bipolar disorder, and you can end up getting the wrong care and hurting yourself with misinformation. But on the other hand, self diagnosis can definitely be accurate and from what I understand not everyone can get a dx. So as long as you’re careful and don’t go spreading around your self dx like it’s 100% certainly true I don’t see much of a problem with it. Like read about autism on the internet and I was like ‘this is me’.Turns out I was right, but what if I hadn’t had access to a doctor? Would it have been wrong for me and my family to be like ‘I am 99% sure I’m autistic’? 

tldr; Less ‘self dx is harmful and inaccurate!’ and ‘self dx is always ok!’, more nuance.

Okay, but for who? Because I can think of a number of boys and men who this doesn’t apply to at all, myself included. I, and plenty of other people have been told that we couldn’t do certain things because we weren’t a girl, or not athletic enough, or a number of other things. It’s not that we’ve never heard the word no before, because we have, it’s just that guys handle it in a different way that girls do. We look at rejection as a challenge. I mean, I was told that I’d never make it to college because “guys like you are too lazy to make it in the real world,” but guess what, I worked my ass off and proved those assholes wrong. It’s not a matter of whether or not you know how to deal with rejection, it’s about what you do after. Do you sit there and let people tell you you’re not good enough to do what you want because you’re a girl or because it’s a guy thing, or do you put in the work to prove them wrong?

make up your own fucking post. was it really that hard for you to realize this was in response to a guy saying we as women don’t get rejected? rants are valid. get the fuck off of this post and make one about male rejection, THIS POST was for anyone who AGREES, not to argue with it. why is it so damn difficult for men to let us have our moment????

Also, she was saying that women do get rejected, that much is true. However, she was also saying that men as a whole don’t hear no or fave rejection, which is what I was disagreeing with. I completely agree that women do face rejection, but so do men and that’s all I was saying

Everyone knows that. It’s the fact that tumblr misuses it.

What triggers are suppose to be: War vet having a flashback panic attack due to the horrors they’ve witnessed when a firework goes off too close to them.

What tumblr thinks it means: someone said something I didn’t agree with.

They are also supposed to be use to help identify what causes “episodes” so you can learn healthy ways to respond to the trigger instead of panicking, breaking down, etc. NOT police what others are saying or doing. Triggers are the individuals problem not everyone else’s. Expecting the world to cater to you is ridiculous.

Sincerely someone with real diagnosed mental illness’ sick of seeing her illness’ fetishizatized or used as excuses by special snowflakes.
