Doc: I can tell ya what that’s like.
Jackson: Yeah, Doc can speak better to that.
Doc: Let me tell ya this, have you ever woken up from a dream and your midsection says it was a good one? 24/7, my friend. You don’t know why it’s good but it’s just good. Maybe it’s just airing itself out. But it’s not, it’s Chris McCulloch and it’s a dream.This fan was my dumb friend, Brian, making a dumb joke while dressed as Brick Frog. It got me up close and personal with Jackson, and I had a momentary minute of glee.
Fast forward to a month later, at the NYCC panel. On behalf of our dumb friend Brian I say the following:
Fan: Jackson, I have an apology for you from Brick Frog at Dragon*con; for his lame [ass] question.
To which Jackson responds with:
Dragon Con 2018: It’s Changed…For the Better
Over the years, I’ve heard a lot of opinion (lament) about how Dragon Con has changed.
“It’s become way too crowded.”
“It’s turning into a frat party, with too many drunks.”

Barbarella and the Great Tyrant cosplay from 2013’s Dragon Con. Barbarella- Lady Lomax
The Great tyrant- Sherri Bell
Barbarella’s chain mail is just soda can pull tabs or pop tops. Collected for 10 months and then assembled in 3 days. Her boots are vintage 60’s go go boots modified with the red cuff and stripes. The ray gun or “Missile Projector” is wood, vacuum formed plastic, PVC and a custom fiber glass hand, it also lit up when the trigger was pulled.

Farscape group cosplay for 2013’s Dragon Con. This combined effort spans 2 hemispheres because 3 members of the group came from Australia. The incredible part is aside from T-shirts, wigs, contacts and some pants nearly everything was custom made. For instance Scorpius, Sikozu and Chiana had every part custom made minus the core portion of the boots.

Shazam 2: Zachary Levi Teases ‘Awesome’ Villains In Sequel (Dragon Con 2021)
Instead,Shazam! Fury of the Gods is going a completely original route, with its villains. Helen Mirren has come on board as Hespera , one of three sisters who are assumingly gods given the film’s title, with Lucy Lui playing the second sister, Kalypso.
The third sister remains a mystery though it is heavily rumored that newcomer Rachel Zegler will be filling in those shoes .
Some of the cast of Shazam!made an appearance at Dragon Con 2021 in Atlanta, Georgia, where they teased what the new villains will be bringing to the table.

During a Shazam-focused Dragon Con 2021 panel attended by The Direct, cast members Zachary Levi, Jack Grazer, and D. J. Cotrona, were able to tease what viewers can expect when it comes to the film’s villains.
Levi started out with the teasing, saying that “[he] can die a happy man…:”
“… And now we have these awesome villains in Helen Mirren and Lucy Liu, which by the way, is so badass, let me tell you. I can die a happy man, I’ve gotten to do scenes one-on-one… with Helen Mirren. It was so crazy!“
Jack Grazer chimed in, saying “also me!” , confirming that the actor’s character Freddy Freeman comes face-to-face with Helen Mirren’s villainous Hespera at some point in the film.

Another fan went to the mic insisting that Zachary Levi talk about what it was like to work with Lucy Liu, who is portraying Kalypso, the second of three villainous sisters set to appear in the film.
Zachary Levi caved, admitting that they “don’t have a lot of… face-to-face time:”
“Well, unfortunately, Lucy and I, I don’t want to spoil anything but, we’re nemesises who are circling each other a lot but don’t have a lot of face-to-face time. But we get some, we’ll see how that goes…”
He went on to praise Lucy Liu’s performance, saying that she “crushed her role in spades, she was fantastic:“
“Lucy crushed it, let me just put it that way… I got to be there alot when she was doing her work, even if I wasn’t in the scenes with her, and she crushed it. And, we knew she was going to… she’s always been so cool… so beautiful, so gracious… Lucy crushed her role in spades, she was fantastic.”
Levi elaborated on why the new cast members, including Lucy Liu, were so great, teasing that the new additions to the team “made [the film] even groovier:”
"… More than anything, you hope that people… you know that they’re talented because you can see what they’ve done in the past, and their work, but you don’t know necessarily if they’re just going to be groovy people that are down to just like roll up their sleeves, and be creative, and have fun. And she was, and Helen was, and Rachel Zegler, who was also a new addition to the movie, she was—everybody who was already returning, we already had such a beautiful thing, and then these new additions just made it even groovier.”
The Villainous Sisters Are Coming
It’s very interesting to hear that Jack Glazer’s Freddy Freeman will be having scenes with Helen Mirren’s Hespera, which means that he’s likely to be involved with some heavier conflicts happening in the film.
Another sign? The fact that Freddy seems to be spending a lot of time with Rach Ziegler’s mystery character , who, again, is rumored to be the third villainous sister. It’s also suspect that Levi listed Rachel Ziegler’s name right after Helen Mirren and Lucy Liu as he praised the villains of the film.
The fact that the film is going a completely original route with the villains is certainly admirable. That said, it is a little odd, seeing as the end of the first film very clearly set up Mr. Mind as a big villain behind the scenes.
It doesn’t seem like fans will be seeing him in this upcoming sequel despite the set-up he received. Maybe that will change, but audiences won’t know until they can watch Shazam! Fury of the Gods on June 2, 2023.
It’s now perfectly legal to take upskirts photos in Georgia
For the time being, it’s completely legal in Georgia to be a sexist creeper who looks up women’s skirts in public without their consent. CBS46 reported that this week, taking an invasive photo of a woman’s body in public is still considered fair game. And it’s all according to a ridiculous legal technicality.
Just something to think about when you’re considering going to Dragon*Con later this year.

I had attended the convention for the past three years, and it is always a highlight of my year. I had hoped to gather with my fellow fans this year in Atlanta. This cosplay was so last minute but honesty I love wearing it. What a sweet and precious character. I’ve already gotten her a cloak and am working on her tail, as well as makeup upgrades and possible upgrades to her dress and corset. I’m so excited!!

This videographer making a Dragon Con CMV caught a really cute moment of me handing a flower crown to a little princess during the parade. I’m so happy they caught it. The whole video just makes me miss Dragon Con so much, there’s no con like it. The energy and welcoming and positive spirit is on another level.

Fun fact: the first two kids that got flower crowns (I mostly handed them to little kids in princess dresses that didn’t already have crowns on that I could spot in the crowd along the parade route) recoiled in complete horror as a red, pupil-less-eyed, sword wielding tiefling with a big stupid grin exposing my rather convincing looking fangs came sauntering over to them. This is why I bring them flower crowns, haha, to show them that even the people dressed as monsters are just there to have a good time like everyone else, because I know the horror genre cosplayers give some of them a bit of a spook.
We keep checking the countdown clock on Dragon Con’s website, and it’s down to 15 days until we descend upon Atlanta! This year is going to be a blast– We will be situated, as always, in the Comic & Pop Artist Alley with prints, a limited run of NEW Buck Roger’s Novellas, and a bunch of panels!
