Series:Twos Company, Trees A Crowd

Katsuki hates Halloween. Hates it with the same fiery passion that he hates people who don’t pay their taxes, or those who don’t take out their trash on the right days. He hates that as the years have gone by it’s become more mainstream, more like the ostentatious American holiday. Most of all he hates that he still spends the few nights before as well as the dreaded night itself, patrolling the streets and witnessing the dumb asses of society make utter fools of themselves by dressing up in ridiculous outfits and getting absolutely shit faced.

But not this year.

He didn’t know if this was better or worse though.

The fact that all three of them had the night off was just bizarre and he was sure Y/N had done something to make it happen. She had denied it when Katsuki called her out on it but he knew what she was like and she hadn’t quite been quick enough to hide the small little smirk as she turned away from him. Shoto had just shrugged when he had brought it up, reminding Katsuki how long it had actually been since the three of them had had time off all together and stating that he didn’t care how she had managed it, as long as he got to spend time with her and Katsuki then he was happy. Needless to say that had shut him up rather quickly but that had all changed when he found out what exactly they would be doing with their time off.

Katsuki also hated parties. They were to loud, full of to many people he just didn’t want to be around and the prospect of having to actually dress up had left him irritable at best and damn right angry at his worse. He hadn’t said no though, had grumbled and snapped as Y/N rolled her eyes at him before pressing kisses to every bit of exposed skin she could reach, saying thank you and telling him that she loved him. Katsuki had gone soft over the years, liking her casual affection to much to stamp his foot down like some brat and demand to have things his way. Funny how age and perspective did that to you, made you see life differently and realise the things you had fought so hard against as a kid just didn’t seem worth the arguments now.

That new attitude was what had ended him up here, dressed up like some sort of barbarian wild man thing and waiting for everyone else to emerge out into the living area so they could go to this stupid party already and get it over and done with. He was leant against the kitchen counter, fingers curled around the edge and his posture painfully tense. He hatted just waiting around and doing nothing, just as much as he hated being late and if they didn’t hurry up they would definitely be late and it would make his already sour mood that much worse.

It didn’t help that he felt ridiculous in his costume, half naked yet draped in a heavy red cape, the collar trimmed in a thick cream fur that was making his neck hot and itchy. The trousers and fur trimmed boots he was fine with, as well as the the shin pads and weird orange arm warmer things that ran from just above his elbows down to his wrists. He was even okay with sitting there and letting Y/N paint a highly stylised dragon on his arm, the black paint setting quickly and looking very convincingly like a tattoo. What Katsuki wasn’t okay with was the sheer amount of necklaces that had been looped over his neck. There were four in total of various lengths and designs and though there weren’t heavy they were annoying as all hell, the claw like blue ones just prodding at his exposed chest and making him want to rip the whole lot off. At least the fake earrings Y/N had attached to his ears had stopped pinching now. He supposed that was at least something. That and the fact he ran hotter than most so he wouldn’t freeze to death when they finally made it out onto the street.

The sound of shoes tapping against the hard wood pulled Katsuki from his thoughts and he turned his head enough to watch Shoto come striding out from the back of the apartment, frowning down at his hands as he fiddled with the many ties that kept his tunic in place. Katsuki had used to tease him about being daddy’s little Prince when they had been at school but now he actually looked the part and Katsuki couldn’t say he was disappointed with the overall appearance of his partner.

The theme of their costumes had been the Reo’s and Kasui’s idea, the two of them obsessed with a new manga that had come out all about a group of adventures on an epic journey to save man kind or some other rubbish like that. Whatever it was about they were as obsessed with it as he and Deku had been with All Might when they had been that age and more than once he had heard them arguing about dragons and wizards and Katsuki was completely lost when they started going on about that rubbish. Out of the three of them Y/N was the only one who seemed to have any clue about the plot and characters, not even flinching when Kasui or Reo bombarded her with what he and Shoto perceived as utter gibberish.

Shoto did looked good though, really good actually. In his long blue tunic, with delicate gold trim and high collar that just brushed along the bottom of his sharp jaw. The brown belt around his waist highlighted how trim he was, the light cream trousers tight enough that Katsuki couldn’t help but drop his gaze down to the other mans crotch but still lose enough that they didn’t look uncomfortable or to restrictive. His long hair had been braided on each side, the red and white strands mixing together where they had been twisted into a bun at the back. He had a few lose strands hanging around his face and framing his mismatched eyes. It was the same way he had worn his hair when the three of them had gotten married and Katsuki’s fingers itched to run through the soft strands and tug the braids free, letting his long locks tumble over his shoulders and down his back, just like he had done on their wedding night.

He had to wonder if Shoto had picked that hair style on purpose or if it had simply been chosen because it was the most fancy way he knew how to do his hair. Knowing the idiot it was most likely the latter, Shoto not even having noticed it was the same. His frown depended, fingers slipping off the top golden clasp, the little toggle slipping free. Huffing out in amusement Katsuki pushed away from the counter and stalked across the room to Shoto, his cloak swishing around him and his footsteps heavy.

Shoto looked up at him with pleading eyes as Katsuki came to a stop in front of him and he let his arms fall to his side. “Idiot,” Katsuki grumbled, rolling his eyes at him but he still lifted his hands, slipping the toggle through the loop and straightening the thing so it sat flat against his chest. The fabric was soft, the whole thing as high quality as they could get and perfectly tailored to Shoto’s form. Y/N had wanted to go home made or store brought but Katsuki had flat out refused. If he was doing this there would be no half assed attempts, no substituting leather for plastic or metal for foam. They were going to kick everyone’s asses and take home the stupid title of best costume of the night. Katsuki was not going to lose to Deku, not this year.

“Thank you,” Shoto said softly, tipping his head slightly to try and catch Katsuki’s eyes. “Not like I was going to watch your dumb ass struggle.” Katsuki smothered his hands down Shoto’s chest as he spoke, all the way down to the leather belt before following it round to curl his hands loosely around his hips. “My hero,” Shoto deadpanned. “Damn straight. Now how about you give me my reward?” Katsuki pulled him closer, his grip tightening on his hips. He ducked his head down, rubbing his nose against Shoto’s and trying not to smirk when he tipped his head back slightly and angled his lips towards Katsuki.

Kissing Shoto is still as good as it was the first time, his lips soft and pliant under Katsuki’s own though he had grown more confident and sure over the years, not even hesitating to press back and demand more. It’s nothing to demanding, no tongues forcing their way into the others mouth though Katsuki does sweep his quickly across the seem of Shoto’s lips, a tease of what would probably happen once they made it back from glasses and ponytails party. Katsuki hears a door open, hears the gentle murmur of voices but he doesn’t care enough to stop, enjoying Shoto’s close proximity to much.

“Ewww. Why you gotta be so gross old man.” Shoto pulls away, laughing softly even as Katsuki sighed heavily, taking a moment to lament the loss of the other mans lips against his before turning his angry glare towards the rude little shit he calls son. “Watch your mouth brat or I’ll wash it out with soap,” he growls, reluctantly letting go of Shoto so he can make his way over towards the kitchen.

Kasui glares back at him, arms folded over his chest and blonde hair pulled back into a short braid. He was dressed up like one of the title adventures, a deep red waistcoat over a black shirt and black pants to match, tucked into red boots and a sword strapped to his back. As much as the little shit had complained Katsuki hadn’t allowed him to get a real sword, Y/N instead dragging Hatsume into making him one that looked real enough but had blunt edges that wouldn’t so much as leave behind a dull ache when the kid undoubtedly smacked someone with it. Probably Katsuki. Kasui was just as much of an aggressive smart ass as Katsuki had been at five years old and it was often Katsuki who got the brunt of it.

“Whatever. Let’s just get this over and done with.” Kasui rolled his eyes as he looked off to the side. He was pouting, his mismatched eyes glaring down at the floor. Shoto laughed gently, drawing Katsuki’s attention away from his sulking son and directing his glare at his husband. “Don’t,” he growled, pointing his finger at Shoto who at least had the decency to press his lips together and try and hide his smile. Kasui was a lot like Katsuki, maybe not as loud and definitely had better control over his explosive anger than he did at that age but it was unmistakable who his father was. He even looked like Katsuki, with light blonde hair though he chose to grow it long like Shoto and his left eye the same piercing red. His right was like Y/Ns, it even went black when using his quirk just like hers did. He was practically the spitting image of Katsuki at five and Shoto and Y/N found it way to funny when the little shit sassed Katsuki back.

“He’s just grumpy because Tenko-chan’s not going to be there for him to make heart eyes at.” Reo didn’t even look up as he spoke, walking out of his and Kasui’s room fiddling with the buttons of his waistcoat. He was dressed the same as Kasui except instead of red and black his clothes were blue and cream, a small dagger strapped to his waist and a leather satchel slung over his shoulder. His hair was shaved at the sides and back, his red and white strand that had been left long into styles into spikes, just like how Katsuki’s own hair style. Just like his father he had mismatched eyes, his right eye the same shade of grey as Shoto’s but just like Katsuki his left eye was like Y/Ns.

As soon as he spoke Kasui had spun round to glare at his twin. “Shut up you overgrown candy cane,” he hissed, following it up with a solid sounding punch to the other boys army. “KASUI!” Katsuki yelled, already striding across the room to smack the little terror around the back of the head and demand he apologise. He didn’t get the chance, Reno’s head snapping up and his own mismatched eyes narrowed. He didn’t even hesitate, bringing his fist up and aiming for the other boys face. It was an obvious move one even Kasui could see coming and he easily grabbed his brothers arm, smiling smugly when he held it place. He was so distracted by his perceived win that he didn’t notice Reo lifting his leg until his foot connected with Kasui’s shin.

“AH FUCK!” he yelled, hands dropping to grab at his shin and hopping around on one foot whilst glaring at a smug looking Reo. Groaning Katsuki rolled his eyes. The two of them were a nightmare and Katsuki desperately wanted to smack their heads together. He really couldn’t understand how one moment they could go from being inseparable, Reo clinging onto Kasui’s hand and refusing to be separated from one another to hitting and screaming at each other like they were sworn enemies.

“Don’t swear,” Katsuki grumbled, smacking Kasui round the back of the head, the boy letting go of his leg to rub at the spot Katsuki’s hand had hit. “And don’t kick your brother.” He turned on Reo, clipping him round the side of the head when the boy tried to duck out of the way. “He started it,” Kasui grumbled, glaring once more and cheeks red. “Did not,” Reo shot back, lifting his head high and crossing his arms over his chest.

“Did to.”

“Did not.”

“DID TO!”

“DID NOT!”

Katsuki groaned, eyes closing as he pressed his hand against his face, only just remembering not to rub at his eyes or he would end up smudging his eyeliner. He could already feel a headache coming on and they weren’t even at the stupid party yet. “MAL’CHIK!” Y/Ns stern voice rang out loud and clear from the bedroom and instantly silence descended across the room. Letting his hand drop and eyes open Katsuki took in the identical looks of panic on the two boys face, two sets of mismatched eyes trained on the darkened hallway beyond the kitchen. Just like that whatever had been brewing between the kids vanished, Kasui reaching back and taking Reo’s hand.

Katsuki scoffed. People always assumed that Katsuki was the strict one and Shoto the push over with Y/N falling somewhere in between the two of them and for the most part they were right. Yet somehow Y/N had ended up the one that they were both terrified off making angry. They weren’t exactly naughty kids, were actually pretty well behaved considering they had him and Shoto as role models but whenever Y/N was there they were just better, looking up at her with wide eyes full of innocence and a look as if butter wouldn’t melt in their mouths.

“Now you’re gonna get it.” Kasui darted his eyes up to Katsuki, glaring even as he pulled Reo closer, the other boy huddling up to his back. It was annoyingly adorable. Kasui was only twelve minutes older than Reo but he took the role of older brother very seriously, even if they had just been trying to beat each other black and blue just moments ago.

He knew the moment Y/N appeared in the hallway, Kasui’s glare disappearing as his eyes dropped and he tried to look apologetic, Reo mirroring the look though his pout was definitely bigger. “Would someone care to explain to me what exactly is going on out here?” Kasui shrunk back, tipping his head down and looking at his boots whilst Reo buried his head against his brothers shoulder. They both stayed silent and when it came clear neither of them were going to explain themselves Katsuki sighed, rolling his eyes at their sudden ability to be quiet.

“Same as always. One can’t keep his mouth shut and the other has anger issues,” Katsuki grumbled. He didn’t say witch one was what because honestly it could apply to either of them. As much as Kasui was like him, so was Reo. For the most part he was as quiet and unassuming as Shoto but he could be just as rude as Katsuki and gave back just as good as he got in a fight. Kasui had his moments as well, where Katsuki would find him in a ridiculously oversized sweater, curled up on the sofa and reading a book, his face set in that same blank look as Shoto got when he was absorbed in a good book and completely lost to the world around him. Though technically he was Kasui’s father and Shoto’s was Reo’s they were their kids and Katsuki genuinely felt sorry for the poor sods that would send up teaching them because they were going to be difficult and moody and cause so much trouble. Y/N sighed, the sound of her boots clipping across the floor loud in the otherwise silent room and Katsuki finally turned to look at her.

She looked stunning, dressed in different shades of grey and brown leather. Her dark grey leather trousers were tights, her brown boots coming up to mid shin and only supporting a small heel. Her light grey shirt had a plunging neckline that Katsuki thought was a little questionable for a manga aimed at kids and her dark grey waistcoat sat under her breath and had a rather chunky belt that highlighted her waist. She had brown leather arm guards on both arms and a matching shoulder guard on her right shoulder that had been styled to look like armour. A thick brown strap ran diagonally over her chest, holding a quiver full of arrows in place on her back along with a highly decorated long bow. The whole look was topped of with her newly pointed ears that looked way to real for them not to be something she had achieved using someone else’s quirk. She looked good and as she came to a stop next to Shoto, leaning in to place a kiss on his cheek Katsuki suddenly wanted to call Deku to come get the kids so they could spend the night playing fantasy adventures instead.

She turned back to face the kids, her eyes dragging appreciatively over Katsuki before snapping down to the still chastised looking boys. They hadn’t even been told of yet but from the look of them you would think they had. “What do you say?” Y/N rested her hip against the counter, arms crossed over her chest and looking expectantly at the two of them. Reo shifted, taking a step back as Kasui turned round to face him. They still didn’t let go of each other’s hand, heads tilted down and looking up at the other through their lashes. “Sorry I hit you even if you were being a brat,” Kasui mumbled. “Sorry I kicked you and said you were going to make heart eyes at your boyfriend even though he’s not coming to the party,” Reo mumbled back, Kasui’s eyes narrowing but thankfully deciding to keep his mouth shut.

Shoto sighed loudly, looking at them with slight disapproval even as Katsuki laughed at the backhanded apologies. “I suppose they at least said sorry,” Shoto deadpanned. Y/N smiled softly, shaking her head slightly as she pushed away from the counter. “I suppose.” As soon as those words left Y/Ns mouth both Reo and Kasui looked up, smiling brightly when they found her smiling back at them. And just like that it was as if the last five minutes hadn’t happened, the two of them already chattering away to each other about dragons and a lost princess.

“You look good,” Y/N whispered as she leant up to press a kiss to Katsuki’s cheeks, her hand cool as she pressed it against his naked chest and Katsuki couldn’t help but shiver. “Not nearly as good as you.” Katsuki made a point of dragging his eyes across her body, his gaze lingering on the swell of her breasts. Huffing in amusement she shoved him back slightly. “Later,” she teased, winking at him as she made her way past and towards the kids. Katsuki’s hand darted out, snagging her arm by the elbow and pulling her back. She came with a laugh, letting him spin her back round and already tilting her head up to accept the kiss she knew was coming.

Much like his kiss with Shoto, this to was slow and gentle, their lips moving against the others but never pushing for more. Katsuki could have quite happily have stayed like that for a while, lost in the feel of her lips against his and the press of her body as he curled an arm around her waist and pulled her closer but whatever little peace he had found was shattered by his darling children. “Stop trying to eat mama’s face.” Reo’s demand was quickly followed by a small hand pressing against the small of his back and the the cold sensation of ice spreading out from the spot. Katsuki hissed at the sudden coldness, jerking away from Y/N and whipping around just in time to see Kasui scurrying back to his brothers side, the last few bits of frost still clinging to his fingers as he slipped his hand into his pocket.

“You little shit,” he growled, taking a step towards the two boys only to come to a sudden stop when he received a swift smack to the back of his head. “Don’t swear at the children,” Y/N chided, striding past a stunned Katsuki and towards the smug little shits. “And what did I say about using your quirks on people?” She arched an eyebrow at the two boys and once again they looked down at the floor, pouting heavily. “Sorry mama,” they said in unison, looking up at her through their lashes. Y/N sighed, shaking her head at their antics even as she started to nudge them forward. “Alright let’s get going. We have a castle to storm an a princess to save.” She pressed a hand to each of their backs, ushering them towards the door, the two kids back to being excited and coming up with a battle strategy. Katsuki hoped glasses had good home insurance because he was sure that they were bound to catch something on fire tonight and Katsuki really couldn’t afford the bill on the giant ass mansion they lived in.

A warm hand slipped under his cloak, pressing against his cold skin and Katsuki groaned, leaning back against Shoto’s chest as he chased away the last of the ice. “Thanks,” he grumbled as the other mans hand slid around his front and pressed against his abs. “Now who’s the hero,” Shoto mumbled against his ear and Katsuki couldn’t help but smile. “Yeah, your a real hero,” Katsuki teased as he turned, grabbing the front of that stupid blue tunic and pulling Shoto in for a hard kiss, nipping at the other mans lip before pulling away. “Come on, before our hell spawn manage to blow something up again.” Shoto laughed, something small and private that left his whole face practically glowing with it. The man was to damn pretty for his own good and Katsuki was damn well lucky to call him his.

They followed after the others, Katsuki the last one out the door and locking it behind them, the gentle murmur of the boys excited chatter filling the hall way. Turning he found his family half way down the hall and waiting outside the lift. Shoto had his arm wrapped loosely around Y/Ns waist, both of their attention on the boys as they excitedly spoke, tiny arms waving around. Shoto looked kind of confused, frowning slightly as Reo’s hand crackled with tiny explosions whilst Kasui had formed a rather crude looking shield from ice but Y/N was smiling, nodding along like she knew exactly what the two five year olds were talking about.

Katsuki couldn’t help but smile, something in his chest tingling at the sight of his family so happy and relaxed. He slipped the keys into one of his many hidden pockets and strode down the hallway. As soon as he was behind them Katsuki swooped down, gathering Reo into his arms and lifting him up. The boy startled, crying out in surprise and letting off yet another series of small explosions from his palms but as soon as he realised it was Katsuki he settled, leaning against his side. His little hand came up, grabbing at one of the many necklaces around his neck and resting his head against the fur trim of his cloak. He would be to old for this soon, to heavy as well but for now he didn’t care so much about his old man carrying him round like the child he was. Katsuki’s going to miss it, miss them being this age and still kind of amazed that Katsuki could so effortlessly lift them. That child like wonder made him feel strong, invincible, like a hero and all he could do was hold onto that feeling as the years passed and they no longer though such a simple act was so amazing.

“Hey! No fair, I wanna be carried to,” Kasui whined, scowling up at his brother and hands placed on his hips, looking up at him expectantly. Katsuki huffed, rolling his eyes at the demanding little shit but he still shifted Reo, getting ready to bend down and take the other boy into his arms as well but before he could Shoto was there, wrapping his arms around the little brat and lifting him into his own arms. He beamed, looking way to smug as he flung his arms around Shoto’s neck and buried his face into his neck.

The lift doors dinged loudly as they opened and the five of them crowded into the thankfully empty space. “Who’s ready to party?” Y/N called out excitedly as the doors close behind them. “ME!” Reo and Kasui yell back excitedly, sitting up straighter and waving a hand in the air. Smiling brightly she slips between him and Shoto, phone in hand and looking at their reflections in the mirrored wall. “Family photo time.” She lifts up her phone as she speaks, opening the camera and angling her phone so it won’t be so noticeable when she takes the photo of the mirror. Shoto immediately steps in closer, Kasui shifting in his arms so he can pull his little sword free and hold it above his head, grinning like a mad man. Normally Katsuki would argue, grumble and complain about having his photo taken. He hated it and he hated feeling like he was being forced to do it but surprisingly this time that feeling never came and without even being prompted he stepped in closer, Reo pulling his toy dagger out and brandishing it at their reflection. Y/N laughed, her eyes catching his in the mirror and he felt his own smile grow bigger.

“Alright, on the count of three.”

Katsuki did hate Halloween and he did hate parties but he did love making his family happy.

“One.”

Right now, crowded in a lift and dressed up as fantasy characters from some random manga, on their way to what would most likely be a rather boring party they were happy.

“Two.”

In that moment he didn’t care about his hero ranking. Wasn’t concerned about the idiot extras that would probably harass them on the way to the Iida house hold. Katsuki was happy, content with his life even if it hadn’t gone the way he had planned when he had graduated U.A but he wouldn’t change it for the world. He loved his life.

“Three.”

And that was all that matters.

“Happy Halloween!”
