Your first thought of Hyunjin having the potential to be more than just your best friend was when the two of you were thirteen. “You okay over there?” you asked, partially concerned and partially confused. Hyunjin let out another groan before responding.

You handed him the first bowl after it was done heating up in the microwave, but instead of moving to go sit down somewhere and eat it, Hyunjin just stood next to you, a little closer than he normally would. He put the bowl of pasta on the counter and instead grabbed one of your hands. As much as you wish it didn’t, that same flutter from the night of the carnival and the day he helped you get through your breakup made its way from your stomach up through your heart before settling in your throat, preventing you from saying anything. The two of you just stood there, feeling like the moment was suspended in time.

“You know what I heard is good for relieving stress?” he finally asked in a low voice.
