LIVE

My first post in a while but this is dedicated to the wonderful Helen McCrory.

Her talent was endless, I adored every role she played and I hoped to have seen her in theatre one day. She was an absolute powerhouse, who radiated female empowerment in her characters and as herself. However, she was taken way too soon and unexpectedly.

Please be kind and send love to all her dedicated fans, show the same support as you would if it was your idol that had left the earth to join the heavens.

All the love to you and please message if this is a sensitive subject and you need to talk.

Helen,

Live forever above the clouds and in the light, you angel and legend. Xxx

In loving memory of my husband Keith, who peacefully set down his sword and shield following an incredibly brave three-year battle against glioblastoma. He did not lose his fight with this evil cancer; he just fought so courageously that his spirit grew weary and needed to rest. I was with him when he drew his final breath and while I am numb from shock, I am relieved he is now free.

To my beloved Keith, you gave me five years of happiness and memories I’ll forever cherish. You will always be in my heart and I will love you for the rest of my life. As I believe good people turn into stars when they pass, you are now a shining star in the sky (and thanks to five amazing ladies from my work, a star near the Draco constellation will bear your name for eternity). May you forever rest peacefully beside the sunny slopes and quiet streams. Until we meet again.

Fare you well upon your journey,
To the bright lands far away,
Where beside the peaceful rivers,
You may linger any day.
In the forests warm at noontide,
See the flowers bloom in the glades,
Meet the friends who’ve gone before you,
To the calm of quiet shades.
There you’ll wait, O my beloved,
Never knowing want or care,
And when I have seen my seasons,
We will walk together there.

No one can tell what my heart longed to say,
When I had to leave here, and you had to stay.

SAYING GOODBYE TO MICHELLE. AN ANGEL LEFT US.

It is with a deep and incredible sadness that we share the news that one of our longtime members of the KD family, Michelle Profant, passed away last night around 8:45 PM.

Michelle was diagnosed with Stage IV cancer that metastasized into her bones and lungs. At the time she was diagnosed last summer, the doctors had given her 3 to 6 months to live. Despite rounds of chemo treatment and periods where it looked as though the cancer might be minimizing, in the end, the battle was too much for her body to withstand. We knew the end was near when she let us know recently she’d be going into hospice care.

We can’t even put into words how profoundly heartbreaking this news is to us and I know many of you who know and love Michelle as we do, will find this news just as devastating.

Michelle applied to foster with KD and joined our rescue on June 3rd, 2013. In that time she has had a hand in saving countless lives. The kitties she pulled from safety at Devore for Kitty Devore Rescue and KD Rescue partners alone total 311 kitties.Additionally, she has fostered many kitties along the way, too. She’s attended adoption events, helped out other foster parents by picking up their kitties and getting them to the vet when they could not, transported short and long distances…we could go on and on. Michelle is one of the members who has helped make KD the force for good that it has become. She is one of the people we considered to be the heart of this team and we’re sure we’re not alone in that feeling.

In 2014, when Kitty Devore Rescue hit hard times financially and was struggling to meet the needs of the kitties in our care, Michelle, without letting KD administrators or other members know, wrote to Examiner journalist, Sharon Gilbert, to plead KD’s plight. The article Sharon wrote brought in new fosters and donors that enabled us to continue the good fight for the kitties of Devore.

Michelle was known for her amazing sense of humor, her giving spirit, her kindness, her generosity, her willingness to do whatever needed to be done on behalf of the kitties in need without complaint, with a happy heart and with a generosity of time, energy and spirit unlike any other. As a KD member, she never engaged in gossip or badmouthing anyone. She was truly in it for the kitties 100% of the way.

When a kitty didn’t get saved, it was Michelle who always reminded us we needed to do better, try harder, find a little more space by saying at the conclusion of a daily rescue thread, “And nobody came…” This single statement reminded each of us why we were all here - to be there for each kitty at Devore we had committed ourselves to save.

In June, when she became aware her time was limited, she asked KD to care for her kitties and, within a few days, we had secured alternate placements for not only all the fosters she’d still had in her care but also many of her adopted kitties, too. We wanted to be sure Michelle was able to ease her heart and mind, knowing her kitties would all be safe and secure, so she could focus on the battle ahead.

Last night, when her longtime friend and fellow KD member, Michelle Johnson, contacted us to let us know of her passing, the entire KD membership grieved and we will continue to do so because the loss of the force of nature she was is heartbreaking to all of us. However, we know Michelle is now at the Rainbow Bridge, greeting all the kitties and pups who will make that journey and will be assuring each one they are safe and loved.

Rest in peace, Michelle. We love you. We always will. You are and will continue to be so greatly missed by all who knew you.

Michelle leaves behind her husband, Steven Horine, her mother, Gerda Profant, several former Devore kitties that Steven and Michelle opted to keep as well as numerous family members and even more friends who loved her dearly.

There are people who come into our lives for a reason.

They may not stay long, you may pass one another by, and you may very well end up missing one another entirely by the time you realize just how much those people mean to you. But the impact they have on you and your life remains the same… regardless of how long or short their time was in your social sphere.

I lost a dear friend this week to…

I watched the sun rise

saw the light hit your eyes

and smiled at your beauty

I saw you stumble out of bed

so many thoughts in your head

and go about your day

I watched you walk back in

your hand on my chin

and you kissed me hello

I saw the moon shine

more reflection in your eyes

I smiled, this is home.

I got some sad news yesterday, Laura W, a beloved fanfic writer in the Star Trek Voyager community lost her battle with cancer. Laura was the first Trek writer I sought out for permission to record her stories because they were always full of heart and joy.

She graciously gave us permission, offered to make edits if needed and cheered our efforts. Laura was always a kind soul, this loss is great. She truly was the most joyful voyager. @red2007

In her honor, we’re re-releasing her audio fics and including a new release.

There Are No Stars in Tokyo

Hi Jessica. This comic is about you, and it’s about me, and what I think about you, though you can’t read it anymore.

This comic is about grief.

This comic is made with all my love.

Brilliant shooting star that you are, I hope you in the light where you belong. I hope you’re at peace. Your light touched the hearts of all who knew you in life.

Jessica (China Musume Cosplay) was recently murdered. I made this comic to honor her, because that’s all I can do for her now. This sweet, sweet sunshine human was brutally torn from this world, and since there’s nothing else I can do, I want more people to know about her.

If any of you knew her, have memories or pictures of her, or would like to send flowers to her family, please check out her online obituary here.

I used up all my words. We love you and you deserved better.

Love ya sweetie, wish I’d known you better </3
