Time for another Very Happy Birthday to J.K. Simmons!  (Jan. 9, 1955)
(click through for largest size)

I was toying with several ideas for this year’s piece, after paying homage to the Farmers Insurance commercials last year. But this was suggested by @dontbearuiner, and it seemed fitting to honor the moment when J.K. Simmons first made an impression on the collective geek consciousness, as J. Jonah Jameson in Raimi’s Spider-Man in 2002.  So here we have Ford in full “BRING ME PICTURES OF SPIDER-MAN!” mode, a request that his niblings will be only too happy to fulfill.

(For this I used refs from the 2002 and 2004 movies; pics of guys in suits; refs from Spider-Man comics; refs from the most recent Into the Spider-Verse movie – which is the best and if you haven’t seen it you absolutely must – and from merch for the same, which accounts for the idea of Mabel’s Spider-Gwen hoodie. The background is courtesy of a free halftone texture. I think that’s it?)

(Well, heck – I missed this yesterday purely because of my brain playing tricks on me.  Another very happy birthday to Mr. J.K. Simmons nonetheless!  I do have a sort of tribute idea to do, perhaps I’ll get to that soon.)

And finally, another Happy Birthday to J.K. Simmons!  (belated)

Ford as King Bacchus in the Mardis Gras Dimension (Presumably)!

It is a week since J.K. Simmons’ birthday (Jan. 9th), so I’m going to say we should fête him all month long!  Having done Ford in past years as well-known JKS roles, this year I remembered that in 2018, JKS was made King Bacchus for the Krewe of Bacchus’s 50th anniversary Mardis Gras parade, and figured it’d be a hoot to see Ford in that costume; probably as Portal Ford spending some time in a Mardis Gras dimension.  (I’m always into the idea that he had fun out there sometimes!) (Some more on JKS in that parade here, and here.)

(Previous years: Farmer’s Commercial Ford;J. Jonah Jameson Ford.)

The top pic was based closely on a photo from the parade by photographer Julie Dermansky. The full figure (below; why does Tumblr make it blurry even when I sized it correctly???) I did first, to work out how the costume and its decoration would look, based on numerous pics and videos in order to figure out the whole thing. As it is, neither of these depict the costume with nearly as much detail/decoration as the real thing!  And this also ended up being some good CSP practice (but man, I gotta get some more brushes).

Reblogging also in honor of J. K. Simmons’ birthday (which was yesterday).

So I watched “Klaus” last night.

My GOSH what a fantastic movie!  I mean… everything about it was so, SO GOOD.  It was gorgeous and funny and heartfelt, and it made me ugly-cry at the end.  Watch it, if you can!

I LOVED that it was 2D and yet it really looked so lush, so 3D in parts.  Hats off to that entire animation team.  I was also completely blown away by the inclusion of the Sámi, and the fact that they had them just… speaking their real language the whole time, without subtitles.  Very cool.

Also, I loved the reindeer.  And, another wonderful JK Simmons role, too. :)

Anyway, here’s a “warm-up” that got a bit away from me.

(Another little bit of tribute to J.K. Simmons in honor of his birthday yesterday.  And thanks to him for voicing another wonderful role this past year. :)

Again, J.K. Simmons’ birthday was yesterday (I keep missing it)!  And I happened to watch a couple of reaction-videos to people watching “Klaus” last night, so… here this is again.  I should do more from this film.  I was reminded again how absolutely gorgeous it is.  And his acting job is wonderful in it.

Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers(2022)

This is a Movie Health Community evaluation. It is intended to inform people of potential health hazards in movies and does not reflect the quality of the film itself. The information presented here has not been reviewed by any medical professionals.

Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers has severe strobe effects throughout the film, including during important scenes, and at sudden moments. This includes emergency vehicle strobe lights, cameras flashing from all directions, rapidly-firing lasers, and sci-fi electrical equipment with bright strobe lights all over it.

All of the camera work in this film is either stationary or very smooth. One sequence follows action on a fast current of water, and another involves flight at extreme heights.

Flashing Lights: 10/10. Motion Sickness: 3/10.

TRIGGER WARNING: Images of well-known internet “nightmare fuel” appear several times throughout the film. One cartoon character vomits a rainbow.

ADMIN NOTE: Once again, we applaud DIsney+ for including a flashing light warning that appears any time the film is started!

Says a lot about how well you play a character when you get cast as several different versions of said character (even on The simpsons), Nobody does J. Jonah Jameson like J.K. Simmons

There is an unwritten rule of the universe: only JK Simmons can play JJ
