superknovamusic:

Remembering today all the beautiful transgender people we’ve lost to transphobic violence. In the United States, we’ve lost 53 this year alone. Significantly more internationally and many more who have not been identified. Despite all the progress we’ve made, transphobic violence is everywhere. Selena Reyez-Hernandez, a Chicago trans woman, was murdered 30 minutes from where I live.

Preventing transgender violence is not an abstract concept. It’s done with concrete steps: providing safe, affordable housing, access to jobs, trans-affirming healthcare, calling out transphobia/transmisogyny in media and politics, calling out toxic masculinity, decriminalization of sex work and ending money bail.

Trans women are women. Trans men are men. Non-binary people are non-binary. We have existed since the beginning of time and we aren’t going anywhere. Our community and our allies are stronger than ever and we only grow stronger every day ✊️‍

while i understand the confusion its really fucking annoying when people misunderstand the words “transmasc” and “transfem” in ways that lead to misunderstanding a ton of other shit

“transmasc” and “transfem” arent just substitutes for “trans man” and “trans woman” respectively, theyre umbrella terms that include those, but they also include nonbinary people

“transmasc”= “trans men and nonbinary people who are identifying/presenting/transitioning in a masculine direction”

“transfem”= “trans women and nonbinary people who are identifying/presenting/transitioning in a feminine direction”

theyre terms that are specifically used to also include nonbinary people in conversations where their experiences are meaningful too, and because for obvious reasons trans men can have a lot in common w transmasc nonbinary ppl, and trans women can have a lot in common w transfem nonbinary people

so like, if you see stuff talking about for instance transmasc people and it says something like “transmasc people can still be lesbians” and your automatic reaction is “what, no, men cant be lesbians”, realize that not all transmasc people are men!! nonbinary lesbians exist!! hell, you could still pretty much identify a woman and consider yourself transmasc because you go on t/have top surgery/etc, if you wanna (but of course ya dont gotta). Transmasc and transfem are explicitly inclusive of nonbinary people, and are umbrella terms discussing a wide variety of experiences

so like. stop conflating the terms with binary bullshit. even for binary trans people a lot of the shit people say here is still bullshit, but seriously yall realize how broad the terms transmasc and transfem are, stop trying to shove the people across the entire gender spectrum that those terms encompass into one of two boxes. not all transmasc people are men, not all transfem people are women.

(sidenote: no transmasc and transfem are also not synonyms with “trans AFAB” and “trans AMAB”, for a lot of reasons but also just like, not every trans person considers themselves to be, like, transing towards the masculine/feminine, sometimes youre trying to trans off into the sunset or whatever. all im sayin is genders fucked.)

i never see enough tips for trans women/transfem people so. here’s a video that came up about tucking :] (don’t worry she doesn’t use tape at all despite the thumbnail)

TRANSCRIPT:

*rips tape*

“How to tuck for trans Male to Female, or if you’re just really curious.

First, take that fancy-dancy duct tape, that electrical tape, that athletic tape and…

*throws it into a bin with an audible thud*

throw that shit in the trash!

It kinda works, but for the most part it frickin’ hurts, you gotta shave all the time and it’s really bad for your skin.

Instead, go to Walmart, get yourself a pair of high-waisted tights, and a pair of dr scholl’s travel compression socks.

*tears packet for high-waisted tights*

Cut the waistband out of your tights, like so.

*tears sock pack with teeth*

You’re gonna take your socks, and cut to right about… here. Then you get this cool little cuff.

Feed waistband into said cuff.

Step into each loop of the cuff. Your thingy should lay nicely in the cuff. Pull up, put on a pair of cute panties and some shorts, and it’s like you never even had a penis!

Hey I know that we’re dealing with something huge right now but trump is trying to allow adoption agencies to refuse services to lgbtq+ families…. not only is this descrimination but there are TOO many children in the system for them to allow this. Those kids need homes…. I’m disgusted

My guess is that they’re trying to pass this kind of stuff while the country is distracted and focused on other things??? Don’t let up on the current movement at hand, but please give this the attention it needs to be stopped

Happy Trans Day of Remembrance and Resilience!

A queue’d, quick sketch before I go away sans Wifi.

Even just since I came out, and even with the setbacks, things are getting easier for the people coming after me. I’m grateful for - and proud of - that every day.

[Description for screen readers: the phrase “Remember the dead, and fight like hell for the living” handwritten in black on a white circle. Within the white circle is a black circle, showing two hands holding onto each other, and one helping the other up. One hand wears a pink and blue bracelet with “TDORR” handwritten in white. Surrounding the hands are burning candles in trans pride colors: baby blue, pink, and white.]

Laverne Cox
attends the 71st Emmy Awards in Los Angeles, California (September 22, 2019)

The handbag was specially designed by Cox. It featured the LGBTQ rainbow on one side with lettering that reads “Oct 8, Title VII, Supreme Court.” On the other side, the flag of the transgender community is featured, with the hashtag #TRANSISBEAUTIFUL. The reference to the Supreme Court case draws awareness to a looming trial: on October 8, the Supreme Court will begin hearings to decide if anti-LGBTQ employment discrimination qualifies as sex discrimination. The case will also assess whether LGBTQ workers are protected by the Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, an act that “prohibits employment discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex and national origin.” (vogue)

SonicFox just came out as non-binary, and will be going by He/They from this point on, and again, I am super proud of this absolute super star, living their best life and doing everything they can and more for his community, and themselves. He deserves all the praise he gets, and I love this dude so much.

Just for context, straight from the furry’s mouth, and all that.

One of our fiercest and most persistent elders from Stonewall Inn needs us right now! Ms Major Griffin-Gracy has sadly suffered from a stroke, and will require extended recovery. She has given her life fighting for the LGBTQ community, especially for trans women of color, qtpoc dealing with the prison system, and for folks living with HIV/AIDS. After years of pouring into our community, she needs our support during her recovery. You can help by donating at https://fundly.com/missmajor or by sending her a message of love and affirmation at [email protected]! Don’t wait until our elders have passed to uplift them. Help us honor and celebrate Ms Majors today, during this time of healing and recovery!

I mainly drew this so I could print it out and stick it on my classroom door. My students and I have a running thing where they draw me lots of shark pictures on post it notes, which adorn the wall behind my desk in a vast and ever-shifting gallery. They love to look at it to appreciate new additions. I’ve got a scrap book full of older ones which had to be cleared to make room for new submissions.

️‍ May 2022 Pride Month Be Back To The Fun Of Pride Months In Years Past ️‍

Pls don’t forget that, it is really important. You are not obliged to tell anyone anything about you

Pls don’t forget that, it is really important. You are not obliged to tell anyone anything about your private parts. It doesn’t matter if it’s your family or friends. Tell if you want to but don’t feel pressured, cuz not everytime it’s relevant for your loved ones too know every little detail.

I’ve had to remind myself too cuz long story short, my sister got mad at me because I didn’t tell her every detail about my epithesis and showed it to her. And I felt bad for a sec cuz I didn’t really wanna talk about it and she made me feel like I had to. And then I remembered that it is nobodys but me and my partners (If I ever find one ._.) business how my dick looks like or what I can and what I can’t do with it, even if it’s just a packer and out of silicon.

Just read what Trump has done again to the rights of my trans fellows in the us. I’m devastated to hear such news. I really hope that he won’t win an election again and pray for all of you there! If you are alone and scared pls go to a lgbtqia+ center and talk to somebody there. It’s not like without rights we will disappear, show this man that we are strong and don’t forget that the lgbtqia+ community is one big family who should fight as an union.

Keep on going, don’t give up!
