Creating a [cc] video of all the ASL performances of the National Anthem at the Super Bowl, including Deaf West Spring Awakening cast members: Marlee Matlin, Treshelle Edmond, & Alexandria Wailes.

Including this years ASL Performer, Sandra Mae Frank.

Starting in 1992 until 2022.

(not doing halftime because those have copyright songs)

BTW while doing this I’ve found they only seem to televise “famous” Deaf people. The more famous the person the more they are seen and accessibly shown.

• People with sensory processing disorders (& autism, ADHD, ADD, dyslexia, etc)
• People who want to watch a video not in their native language.

Some people used YouTube’s Community Contributions as a way to add spam, memes, & other things no one said in the video.

So they decide to remove the option completely (rather than find a way to sort spam from actual captions).

Most the time a video is ONLY captioned because of Com. Captions. With the removal of this feature, billions of videos will not be accessible for ALL people. 

Sign the petition to tell YouTube not to remove Community Captions.

Because of these people YouTube has decided to remove the option all together.

Over 130 fans of ‘Spring Awakening’ worked together using Community Captions to caption over 400 Deaf West’s Spring Awakening videos.

People all around the world worked together to make the videos accessible for EVERYONE. Not just for Deaf & Hard of Hearing people, but also people with sensory processing disorders, and people who’s language is not the same as the video.

Most the time a video is ONLY captioned because of Community Captions.

With the removal of this feature, billions of videos will not be accessible for ALL people.

This film has been extraordinarily made. I cried so much watching this film. I watched it after the Oscars Awards 2022 and I’m thankful that it’s not too late for me to recognize and congratulate this kind of team. They made me realize that life is beautiful and everything is beautiful, it’s up to you how you’ll look upon it. This film is indeed a trendsetter. Imagine being the first film made by a streaming service to win the highest award in Oscars? Just great. (Though sometimes Oscars do not recognize other great films). Just to add, the stream/river scene reminded me of All The Bright Places, it was just amazing and wonderful The singing interpretation part to Joni Mitchell’s song is a masterpiece, I remember the Emma Thompson scene in Love Actually and I bet not everyone has seen or heard the song, it’s very very highly recommended to add on your playlist.

CODA (2021)

Actress, activist, and author Marlee Matlin, best known for her roles in films and television series such as Children of a Lesser God,The L Word, and Switched at Birth, became the first deaf performer to receive the Academy Award for Best Actress. She was 21 years old when she received the award, and holds the record for being the youngest person to receive this prestigious award. This amazing actress is also Jewish, and here’s how we know:

-Marlee’s family is of Russian and Polish Jewish background, and Marlee grew up attending the Jewish Temple for the Deaf, Bene Shalom, in Skokie, Illinois. [x]

-Marlee had a bat mitzvah and was later interviewed about her bat mitzvah experience for the book Mazel Tov: Celebrities’ Bar and Bat Mitzvah Memories. [x]

-Marlee has said that her Jewish background has been part of the driving force for the large amount of charity work she has done, including her work for the Starkey Hearing Foundation, which gives free hearing aids to children who cannot afford them. [x]

-Marlee has participated in advertising for the Jewish Federations of North America, which does philanthropic work to benefit Jewish causes. [x]
