“The Democrats are so busy with the impeachment, they’re getting NOTHING done!!” - Conservative voters who refuse to acknowledge that the House has passed numerous bills this year, only to have them stall in the Senate because McConnell refuses to bring them to the floor.
“They won’t let Trump face his accuser!” - Conservative voters who refuse to acknowledge that whistleblower identities are kept confidential unless it’s absolutely necessary to identify them, and that this is a policy that predates Trump. The fact that whenever this whistleblower’s possible identity has been leaked, that person has received death threats, is a not insignificant reason WHY their identity is protected. Also the 6th Amendment applies to criminal proceedings, not an impeachment.
“The Republicans were locked out of the behind-closed-doors hearings!” - Conservative voters who seriously don’t seem to care that 13 of the lawmakers who protested being locked out DID have access because they were on the committee, and that Republicans made the rule that in such hearings, only committee members are allowed. Also the hearings were “hidden” for the same reason grand jury hearings are not public – so that witnesses can’t line up their stories - that’s included in the rules for impeachment inquiries passed by Republicans. The Democrats literally ran the inquiry by the Republicans’ rule book.
“Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats are abusing their power by refusing to hand over the impeachment to the Senate!” - Conservative voters who refuse to acknowledge that McConnell has openly stated on national television that he (a juror) is working with Trump (the defendant) and Graham (also a juror) stated that he isn’t even trying to be an impartial juror, and that the impeachment articles are being withheld until the Senate is willing to hold a fair trial.
This is why many of us don’t bother engaging with you. It’s not because “oh we’re triggered omg” or we know we’ve lost – it’s because you refuse to bring enough intellectual honesty to the table for actual discourse to be had.
If you’re just going to parrot Trump’s talking points about the “witch hunt” and not make a peep to acknowledge McConnell abusing HIS power or the Republicans misrepresenting facts, then you’re not worth the time or energy.
The fact that Mitch McConnell told USA Today on May 6 that a NATIONAL ABORTION BAN orchestrated by a Republican Congress is “possible” should permanently end any chance of a 2022 GOP takeover of Congress, and if it doesn’t I’m frankly left without any explanation as to how or why.
Republicans had full control of Congress for two years and never approved Trump’s border wall. We had an election last November and voters rejected the GOP approach. To shut down the government now to build a wall is effectively to stage a coup to overturn the will of the people.
Democrats in the House of Representatives have voted nine times to reopen the government, but Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell refuses to allow any of those bills to come to a vote. He and Donald Trump are responsible for 800,000 federal workers who are not being paid because of the Trump Shutdown.

Mitch McConnell is reportedly going home after single-handedly ignoring the cries of 800,000 hungry, frustrated families and refusing to bring the bill set to reopen the government ti the Senate floor. He is doing this with full knowledge that YOU, his own people, are the sacrificial lambs so he can continue getting cushy Russian paychecks and licking Trump’s nutsack.
Do this for your countryfolk and for America: change his mind. There are no rules. Bang down his door. Protest in front of his mansion and local office. Harrass him everywhere he goes. Tell him that if he doesn’t send the bill to a vote, this year of Russian mob money and nice government perks will most certainly be his last. Remember: he’s running in 2020. Scare the piss out of him. Make him feel as vulnerable and insecure about his job as 800,000 families currently are.

I haven’t posted in a long time (too many fish, not enough barrels etc) but I thought I’d put this out there:
Putin is getting frustrated because, while Trump has delivered a lot of what Putin asked (weakening NATO, free hand in Syria, etc) he still hasn’t done enough to loosen sanctions on Russian oligarchs. But rather than throwing in the towel and releasing his abundant compromising material on Trump, he’s giving it one last shot by going directly to the Senate.
When seven senators and a rep suddenly visited Russia last week - on July 4 no less - I’m guessing Putin (or his people) outlined what the FSB knows in some detail. And they made it clear that it will all come out - permanently crippling a Republican president and the Republican Party with him - if they don’t move to lift sanctions. Fast. The “pee tape” is no doubt just a funny detail - the really damning stuff probably includes money laundering, election hacking, data theft, bribery, extortion, and more. Everything the FSB, via Manafort/Stone/Sater/Cohen er al, have been doing to advance the Trump family’s business and political interests going back 20+ years.
Sen Johnson’s recent comments isuggest that the warming made quite an impression. They’re scared. And they may only have four months left to do anything about it.
