The map offers an educated guess as to the probable Russian strategy in the ground war. A multi pronged drive toward Kyiv and the western border aiming for the wholesale destruction of Ukraine as a state. With 130,000 soldiers. Too few for the task, too large an obstacle to bite. Russian air power will probably aim for civilian terror as this is what it’s good at. It hasn’t fought an air war with an equal force since WW2 so who knows what happens here? Odds are good the Russians shellack Ukraine and then the greatest nemesis of Russian tanks is their own Air Force like in recent US campaigns.

130,000 troops is too few to occupy Ukraine and even a few urban battles will turn this into Grozny on a grander scale.

and i know white people are going to misunderstand this on purpose, so i’m just stating this upfront: i completely support ukraine, and i think it’s important that russia is shown, on a world platform, that they cannot get away with the invasion of a sovereign state. but the fact that suddenly, mixing politics with sport, business and art has become the new normal and socially acceptable because it’s europeandthe west and not filthy violent brown people is just too ironic for me to not point out. and btw if anyone starts talking about the 'oppression olympics’ or wtv to discredit the very real differences between the treatment of white & brown people on a global level and the dehumanization of asians i will smash your head into a brick wall.

L’«operazione speciale» russa in Ucraina? È un successone. In Italia.

Gli italiani-social hanno le idee piuttosto chiare su come dovrebbe andare in Ucraina.

Aprono i neuroni e copincollano da Travaglio o da Orsini: «Non sono putiniano, ma».

Travaglio ha detto martedì che di “filoputiniani” in Italia non ce n’è «nemmeno uno», che il problema è al contrario «una specie di caccia alle streghe» scatenata contro chi si permette di avanzare il minimo dubbio, «una specie di caccia all’uomo» che «criminalizza chi cerca le cause della guerra, scambiandole con il dar ragione a Putin».

Trattandosi di una tesi piuttosto diffusa, vale la pena riportare il ragionamento per esteso. Testualmente: «Adesso chiunque cerchi le cause di questa guerra, che non è iniziata il 24 febbraio, ma che dura da una decina d’anni, e che rimonta a molto prima e che ha molte concause, viene indicato come un servo di Putin. Quindi, in Italia non c’è nessun filoputinismo: io non conosco nessuno che dia ragione a Putin o che tifi per Putin, sono tutte sciocchezze queste, che vengono dette per utilizzare la guerra e la resistenza degli ucraini per regolare conti alla buvette di Montecitorio. È una cosa ignobile che non fa onore a chi ci prova».

Dire che questa guerra «non è cominciata il 24 febbraio», cioè con l’invasione russa, ma almeno dieci anni fa, è la massima giustificazione di Putin che sia possibile immaginare, negando per l’appunto il fatto principale: e cioè che È STATA LA RUSSIA, con l’invasione del 24 febbraio, A INIZIARE LA GUERRA. Ma forse su questo punto pesa soprattutto il fatto che il 23 febbraio Travaglio metteva nero su bianco il seguente incipit: «L’altra sera, mentre tg e talk rilanciavano l’ennesima fake news americana dell’invasione russa dell’Ucraina (ancora rinviata causa bel tempo…)».

Più difficile è capire come Travaglio possa sostenere che in Italia non ci sia «nessun filoputinismo», e addirittura di non conoscere nessuno che dia ragione o tifi per Putin. Evidentemente, pur avendolo appena scelto come editorialista del suo giornale, non conosce Alessandro Orsini, il quale due giorni fa ha così presentato la sua personale soluzione al rischio che i russi usino la bomba atomica: «Facciamo vincere la guerra a Putin».

Dire «facciamo vincere la guerra a Putin» pare abbastanza per definire qualcuno «filo-Putin», ma forse sfugge qualche aspetto particolarmente complesso del discorso, che per essere onesti, a seguirlo in tutti i passaggi, era pure peggio. Infatti il punto era che aiutare l’Ucraina mettendo Vladimir Putin in una «condizione disperata» lo avrebbe costretto, poverino, a usare le bombe atomiche, e a quel punto, tenetevi forte, «l’Europa sarebbe moralmente corresponsabile di un massacro nucleare». E a dirlo, per giunta, è lo stesso signore che da settimane spiega come sia IMMORALE AIUTARE GLI UCRAINI A DIFENDERSI, in quanto non hanno nessuna speranza di farcela, e così prolunghiamo solo le loro sofferenze, perché «o diamo a Putin quello che vuole o Putin se lo prende lo stesso». Insomma, dobbiamo dare a Putin quello che vuole perché tanto ha già vinto, ma anche perché aiutando l’Ucraina rischiamo di metterlo in una «condizione disperata», spingendolo quindi a usare l’atomica.

Come si vede, l’analisi di questo raffinato studioso passa indifferentemente dal dichiarare Putin già vincitore al dipingerlo sull’orlo della disperazione. L’unica cosa che non cambia è la conclusione, che è sempre la stessa: DOBBIAMO DARGLIELA VINTA. Definirlo filo-Putin, obiettivamente, mi sembra perfino riduttivo.

Se la questione riguardasse però soltanto il Fatto Quotidiano, il suo direttore e i suoi collaboratori, obiettivamente, ci sarebbe poco di cui stupirsi. In fondo, tutto si può contestare a Travaglio ma non di non avere una linea editoriale perfettamente coerente, specialmente in fatto di casting televisivi: nel pieno della pandemia ha offerto una rubrica fissa alla dottoressa salita agli onori delle cronache per avere detto che gli allarmi erano infondati, perché Covid era «una semplice influenza»; nel pieno della guerra ha subito arruolato il professore diventato famoso per aver avuto il coraggio di sostenere che l’ostacolo alla pace è Volodymyr Zelenski, e che per questo andrebbe rimosso.

Il problema è che simili ragionamenti sono diventati ormai una posa diffusissima, quasi un nuovo tipo umano, e sicuramente un nuovo tipo di personaggio televisivo. Sono quelli che «NON SONO AMICO DI PUTIN, MA». Quelli che rilanciano ogni giorno TUTTE LE PEGGIORI BUFALE DELLA PROPAGANDA RUSSA (i più furbi magari premettendo pudicamente un classico «non so se sia vero, però…»), ma guai a chiamarli putiniani. Stanno tutti i giorni in tv e sui giornali a lamentarsi di un NUOVO MACCARTISMO (il principio di non contraddizione abbiamo già visto che non è il loro forte), vittime di una caccia alle streghe che colpirebbe implacabilmente chiunque voglia solo esprimere «un dubbio».

Ma la verità è che dicono di voler esprimere un dubbio perché neanche loro hanno il coraggio di trarre le conseguenze dalle loro stesse affermazioni, perché tirano il sasso e nascondono la mano. Non vogliono dire che Putin abbia ragione, vogliono esprimere il dubbio che forse — chi lo sa, ho detto forse, hai visto mai? — abbiano torto i suoi avversari. E perbacco, il mondo non è mica tutto o bianco o nero, cos’è questa logica binaria? Le cose sono più complesse.

Le cose sono complesse, certo. Ma i tartufi si riconoscono lo stesso: se uno soltanto li nomina per segnalare le assurdità che contribuiscono a far circolare, subito gridano alla LISTA DI PROSCRIZIONE e alla CACCIA ALL’UOMO. Quindi non li nominerò, che poi, a volerne approfittare, sarebbe anche un bel vantaggio, perché almeno potrei dire fino in fondo quel che ne penso. Ma sinceramente non mi va nemmeno di insultarli, perché c’è una sola categoria che ritengo si possa collocare moralmente persino più in basso di coloro che sostengono e fanno il tifo per chi BOMBARDA I CENTRI ABITATI, DEPORTA I CIVILI, COSTRINGE INTERE FAMIGLIE A NASCONDERSI SOTTOTERRA E A BERE L’ACQUA DALLE POZZANGHERE: la categoria di coloro che fanno del loro meglio per appoggiare i responsabili di tutto questo, senza nemmeno il coraggio di dirlo.

If any of you fellow simmers is in Ukraine and thinking about going to some safe place but has no place to stay, I invite you to my place in Szczecin, Poland. I have a separate room ready with a big bed just for you. I have hosted and helped two refugees already so I know what and where to do to get all the help possible, I also know the schedules of trains and buses for those fleeing Ukraine. Trains to Poland are free for you.

So if any of you wants to stay at someplace safe, or knows someone who needs a place to stay, I offer the room at my apartment. For free, obviously. I also cook very good dinners :)
