THE MOON IN THE SIGNS

The sign position of the Moon reveals much about our habits, reactions, and instincts. It shows how we express, and deal with, our emotions. Most obvious in our homes or in private, our Moon sign reveals our innermost needs. Many astrologers feel that the Moon represents our experience of mothering; it also shows how we “mother” or “baby” ourselves!

♈︎ ♈︎

Nothing quite happens soon enough with this position of the Moon. There is an inherent impatience with getting what they want. Life is a series of emergencies for Lunar Ariens. They live in the moment and have a hard time waiting for things to happen. Whims of the moment take absolute precedence in their lives.

This is a fiery position of the moon. Even if the Sun or rising sign is more low-key, Moon in Aries people possess inner passion and fire. Emotional issues take precedence–there is simply no pussy-footing around when it comes to dealing with the feelings. And, dealing with new sentiments and needs stirs up a huge desire for activity. Moon in Aries has a need for acting out their needs, with no time to waste. It is hard for them to see the long-term, or to wait for things to happen. Instant gratification rules!

Oddly enough, this is a very defensive position of the Moon. These natives take things very personally, and they deal with problems by facing them right away so that they can then get on with other things. Their flare-ups generally end almost as quickly as they started.

Lunar Ariens have an unmistakable independent streak. They put themselves right out there in the world, and make an impression in whatever they do. Their self-confidence is actually variable. Although a strong personality is projected, Moon in Aries people go through plenty of ups and downs. Their moodiness is not like Cancer or Pisces moodiness–they don’t withdraw into themselves or escape the world when they’re down. Instead, they are temperamental.

Some might say that people with Moon in Aries actually enjoy trouble and confrontations. Indeed, this position is easily bored with environments that are too peaceful. Their homes–especially their childhood homes–are often battlegrounds. They rule the roost, or at least want to, and are not the most peaceful of folk to live with!

Moon in Aries men and women are prone to have plenty of crushes and other short-lived yet intense desires. “Needs” and “wants” are indistinguishable to Lunar Ariens at any given time. In their minds, what they want is so powerful that it becomes an absolute need. In young adulthood, they can be dangerous with a credit card. Whoever offered the advice to freeze your credit card in a container of water, and then let the block of ice thaw before using the card, unwittingly had people with Moon in Aries in mind. The whole idea was to see if the shopping whim of the moment would pass by the time the card was ready to use. Still, with this scenario, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Moon in Aries hacking away at the ice. That is, if Aries actually takes the advice in the first place!

Others will appreciate that people with Moon in Aries rarely sulk or play any drawn-out games of manipulation. You can pretty much know what they want at any given time. They are generally ruled by their own emotional needs, and they’re not always as concerned about others’ needs during these “emergencies”. Somehow, they have people around them scrambling to help them solve their problems. There’s an aura of childlike innocence around Lunar Ariens, even when they’re getting their way again, that can be charming indeed!

♉︎ ♉︎

Familiarity is important to Lunar Taureans. These people are earthy and strong-willed. They feel with their senses and they are pretty much rooted in their ways. They revel in material comforts–in fact, building a solid and comfortable home and foundation helps to keep them feeling safe and content.

It isn’t wise to try to push Lunar Taureans into doing anything, but once they have made a commitment, they’re persevering.

There’s a steadiness to this position of the Moon that is comforting to those close to them. But the conservative streak in these natives can be maddening to more progressive personalities. They tend to go out of their way to avoid “messy” or unpredictable situations, crises, and emotional displays. Instead, they focus on creating a reliable and secure life around them. In relationships, Lunar Taureans may not easily recognize their partner’s need for change, growth, or emotional stimulation.

Moon in Taurus natives are generally very romantic. Their affections are strong, deep, and unwavering. They are sentimental and warm. Since Taurus is a practical earth sign, the placement of the Moon in this sign suggests an ability to protect themselves and their own interests. They will rarely make a move without first determining that it is safe and that there’s something in it for them.

Generally, Taurus Moon people have reliable instincts. They are very much tied to the physical world, and they often have a particularly well-developed sense of smell.

Relationships with people born with this position of the Moon are often quite enduring. Many Moon in Taurus people hang onto their mates, even in the face of serious conflict. Taurus is a fixed sign, so break-ups don’t happen easily.

There is a serenity to them that is calming. In fact, it takes a lot to really get to them. However, they do get off-center every once in a while. They are not the most adaptable people when their own routine is interrupted, for example.

Though some Lunar Taureans might be considered anal, most simply have a stubborn streak that keeps them rather resistant to change. Rarely are they spontaneous sorts. Uncomfortable with surprises, these natives value stability. Their needs are strong but quite simple at the same time–they love the “good things” in life. The world of the five senses is all-important to these natives. Their love of stability and steadiness can make them slaves to routine. However, they are loyal and capable people.

♊︎ ♊︎

Lunar Geminis are usually pleasant, witty, and charming people. At home and with family, however, they can be moody and irritable at times. People with Moon in Gemini are always interesting people–they have a finger in every pie, are curious to a fault, and are generally well-informed.

Nervousness and worry are common traits with this lunar position. An underlying restlessness is common, and many Lunar Geminis need more stimulation than others. They usually read a lot, talk a lot, and think a lot with this airy, mutable position of the Moon.

Their homes are often a perpetual work-in-progress. They generally dislike housework, but are big on home improvement. Re-organizing their homes in little–and sometimes big–ways seems to keep them happy, as Lunar Geminis are easily bored by both routine and constancy. Often, this is a reflection of their inner world–“the grass is always greener…” applies here. Inwardly, Lunar Geminis are often unsettled. Moon in Gemini parents are generally more adept at handling the intellectual needs of their children than emotional ones. Others’ complicated emotions, in general, can be difficult for Lunar Geminis to handle.

In their families, Lunar Geminis often take on the role of organizing get-togethers. They are at their best when they have plenty of things to do beyond routine.

Moon in Gemini people almost always have a way with words. They are clever and witty, and more often than not can be found chatting with others. They are sociable and friendly, and feel comfortable in crowds. Some pay too much attention to what everyone else is doing, and lose touch with what they really want to do. Generally, Lunar Geminis have a million and one projects going. They are impressionable folk, and their imagination is boundless.

Their openness to new ideas is admirable, although decisiveness and persistence take a blow as a result. Still, versatility and adaptability are some of the stronger traits of this position of the Moon.

When irritable, these people can easily become snappy. Their moodiness is complicated–this is not the same kind of moodiness you’ll find with water sign moons, for example. Usually, difficult behavior stems from inner restlessness. Lunar Geminis want to do it all, and have trouble sticking to any one project.

When problems arise, the first instinct of Moon in Gemini natives is to talk things out. Their tendency to analyze can give them the appearance of emotional detachment. In fact, Lunar Geminis may be especially comfortable talking about their feelings, but feeling their own feelings doesn’t come as easily. Those that don’t take time out to really emote and understand their own needs may end up baffling others. Feeling misunderstood is common for Moon in Gemini natives. The only real solution to the problem is learning to get in touch with their ownfeelings.

♋︎ ♋︎

This is the most subjective position of the Moon. The Moon is “at home” in the sign of Cancer, as the Moon is the natural ruler of the sign.

Moon in Cancer natives have a large potential to be able to get in touch with the feelings and moods of others. Often, they are quite wrapped up in themselves. Their memories of the past are outstanding, especially for all things emotional. Moon in Cancer people are never detached — they cling to things, their home, and people they care for. They seek out security and familiarity in all they do. They look for peace and quiet. Their attachment to all that is safe means they are a little leery of change.

These peace-loving souls dislike superficiality in all of its forms. They are devoted and accommodating. The insecure ones accumulate things in an attempt to feel secure.

Because of their strong attachment to, and memory of, the past, others may complain that Moon in Cancer natives tend to whip a dead horse. They may dwell on hurts long after everyone else has moved on. When they feel they have been taken for granted (which may be often!), they don’t always confront others directly. This is when they can use roundabout ways to get your attention. In fact, these natives, when they are insecure, can become quite manipulative. They can also be victims of habit.

These people can have a hard time compartmentalizing their lives, simply because their watery Moon tends to know no boundaries. Sometimes, as a result, they may act irrationally.

One of the most delightful characteristics of Moon in Cancer people is their loony sense of humor. These people can be extraordinarily funny. Their moodiness can baffle others, but their unique outlook on life is something most people can appreciate.

When treated with tenderness and understanding, Moon in Cancer natives return the favor with warmth and protection. Give them security, and you’ll take the crabbiness out of the Crab, at least for awhile.

These people are wonderfully dependable overall, despite their occasional mood swings. Make a friend of Moon in Cancer, and you will be taken care of for life.

♌︎ ♌︎

Depending on other positions in the chart, Moon in Leo people are not necessarily outgoing. When they feel comfortable, they do like being the center of attention. That is, they like being in the “spotlight” in the comfort of their own homes and with family and friends. They enjoy entertaining others, and often take on the role of comic.

Lunar Leos often feel a need to organize, and even control, their families and friends. They have an inner mission to set things right, and generally like to oversee the goings-on in their little circle.

This is a rather creative position of the Moon. At the very least, Moon in Leo people wantto create and entertain. They can be rather lazy at times, and a little bossy too. Generally, though, they have a deep need to treat others fairly and justly.

Lunar Leos require lots and lots of love and care in order to function well in the world. When they feel slighted, these people can be dramatic in their emotional displays. When their pride has been hurt, they are given to big scenes and sulking. This rarely happens in public, however. Lunar Leos are far too concerned about their image to make splashy scenes outside the comfort of their own homes. In public, they prefer to take things in dignified ways. At home, however, they’re given to big displays of emotional drama. These scenes generally don’t last too long, however. Lunar Leos are often personally popular folk who are valued for their integrity and strong sense of justice.

Moon in Leo folk are very proud, and they are rarely happy to follow orders. Leo is a Fixed sign, and it can be difficult to change a Lunar Lion’s mind or to change up plans on them at the last moment. They need time to adjust to schedule changes.

Generally, it is easy to reason with a Lunar Lion. Appealing to their well-developed sense of fairness usually works well.

♍︎ ♍︎

Lunar Virgos find security in the little things in life. They feel most content when they’ve straightened out all the details of everyday life. Many of them enjoy running errands, paying bills, and balancing the books. They take care of these things happily, although some won’t let on. In fact, many Lunar Virgos are quite practiced at nagging and complaining. As long as they are appreciated, however, these people will help you take care of your life, too. They are at their best when they feel useful and needed. If somebody needs help, they are generally the first to jump up and take on the task.

Some people with Virgo Moons are accused of being underachievers. While it may be true that Lunar Virgos can lack self-confidence, many are–quite simply–content with living “regular”, unassuming lives. They appreciate simplicity, and are often most comfortable when they’re not getting too much attention from the world at large. Lunar Virgos are easily overwhelmed by pressure and stress. They worry incessantly when there is too much to think about; and, they know their limits.

Arguably the worst position for a Lunar Virgo is without a steady routine or a simply satisfying job. They need to feel useful, and they best express this by helping others in little ways. They need something to call their own, and the space to do what they want to do.

The unhappy Lunar Virgos are fussy and complaining sorts. They are victims of routine and freak out when their plans are not followed. They are restless and nervous, and can’t seem to see the big picture. Probably the best remedy for these people is a job or hobby in which they can express their deep need to analyze, attend to details, and micromanage.

These people express their affection for the people they care about in little, but practical, ways. They can be a little stiff when it comes to open, gushy displays of affection. Lunar Virgos are often shy with new people. However, when they are comfortable, they are anything but shy.

More often than not, others can count on Moon in Virgo people. They are reliable and trustworthy. Above all else, Lunar Virgos are practical. Others turn to them for help and advice.

In relationships, Lunar Virgos can be self-effacing and kind. Some are quite shy in love, and easily intimidated on a sexual level. Many are not very comfortable with their sexuality, but they aim to please nonetheless. The sign of Virgo is very body-aware, in general. If this awareness combines with a lack of self-confidence, Lunar Virgos can be too aware of the parts that make up the whole. This can lead to a tendency to be intensely self-critical. Once Lunar Virgos learn to come out of their shell, however, they can be earthy partners with a lot to give.

Some of the most skeptical people are Lunar Virgos. They can’t help but poke holes when faced with others’ blind faith. Their criticism can be maddening, and their insistence on seeing the practical in anything emotional can be challenging, especially if you are the dreamy type.

Virgo curiosity shows up big time with this position of the Moon. To some, it can be confusing. Lunar Virgos seem very interested in others’ problems, for example, but can be quite cool and even unsympathetic in the long run. Their advice can seem hard to more sensitive folk, yet Lunar Virgos can be surprisingly delicate when faced with others’ criticism.

Virgo Moon people are generally busy and quietly happy when they have their lives under control. They aim for a simple existence, and are often quite content with very little. Many are early risers, ready to take on the day with enthusiasm. They scurry around, keeping busy and managing their life quietly and expertly. As long as their little world is manageable, Lunar Virgos can be a delight to be around.

♎︎ ♎︎

Moon in Libra people have a strong need for partnership. Without someone to share their lives with, they feel utterly incomplete. This is why many people with this position get involved in marriages or living-together arrangements quite young.Because this drive for harmony, peace, and sharing is so powerful, Lunar Librans are apt to do a lot of conceding. They are sympathetic and concerned for others, enjoy socializing, and revel in a good debate. Mental rapport with others is especially important to them.

Lunar Librans feel safe and secure when they are in a partnership. These are the people who seem to always need to have someone tag along with them wherever they go—even if it is to the corner store. They find strength and reinforcement in and through others.

Both men and women with this position are often quite charming. They can be very attractive to be around, and are often given to flirtatiousness. Rarely directly aggressive, these people win your heart with their gentle and refined ways.

Moon in Libra natives simply can’t help but see flaws in their environment and their relationships. In fact, anything out of whack will bother them until it’s fixed. Although diplomatic with acquaintances, when Moon in Libra natives argue with their long-standing partners, they rarely let up until they win. And, winning an argument is a Libran specialty—in fact, they may not even believe what they are saying, but will adopt all kinds of ideas just to get the last word. Living with Lunar Librans can sometimes feel like you are on trial, and Libra is the expert lawyer. Sometimes, though, Libra is defending you and supporting your point of view.

Lunar Librans’ idealistic outlook and constant striving for the best, most harmonious lifestyle can lead to much discontent. Looking for that one (elusive) perfect way to lead their lives can detract from enjoyment of the moment.

♏︎ ♏︎

While others may find security and comfort in material things, Moon in Scorpio people seek out emotional intensity. No matter what, there is something very intense about Lunar Scorpios. They are diggers when it comes to the world of emotion—they can see beyond facades and cut right to the core of a person. This ability to “see” what isn’t obvious to the rest of the world can be intimidating to others or wildly attractive, depending on the audience.Their deep-seated need for transformation and rebirth can manifest itself in the lives of Lunar Scorpios in different ways. Most have powerful, emotionally intense lives. Some feel like it is beyond their control—these natives seem to attract emotional upheaval, and their lives appear to consist of plenty of dramatic ups and downs. However, when accepted as an emotional need, rebirth and change doesn’t need to be so dramatic and overwhelming. In some way or the other, Moon in Scorpio natives seek out intense experiences. If their lives are regular in any way, there can be an unconscious need to test their own strength and stir up emotional excitement. Self-awareness and acceptance is probably the best way to handle this deep need for emotional drama.

Doing things halfway or having meaningless relationships simply doesn’t fulfill them. Lunar Scorpios want all or nothing.

Moon in Scorpio people often have a strong fear of betrayal. They seek out commitment, and feel the need for a partner to give up something for them. Some will put the people they love through a series of tests, and these are not always conscious. Their apparent suspicion can be trying for the people who love them. However, once committed, Moon in Scorpio people can be the most loyal and protective partners around.

Even the shy ones have enormous presence. Their lives are emotion-driven, yet many Moon in Scorpio natives spend a lot of time controlling and mastering their emotions. Their intuition is enormous, although it is sometimes self-serving.

Moon in Scorpio people radiate strength. Even in the absence of experience, they seem to “just know” things. It would be difficult to shock or scare away Lunar Scorpios in the face of emotional honesty and power. Some people instinctively want to lean on them, and other less brave folk run a little scared. Lunar Scorpios have exceptional “radar” that allows them to size up a situation—and a person—quickly and expertly. This ability to understand human motivation and nature can be too close for comfort for some, and enormously comforting for others.

Many Lunar Scorpios are intelligent and astute. Those that use their enormous powers for intimacy and honesty are the happiest, and they make the most interesting and rewarding friends and lovers.

♐︎ ♐︎

More than anything, Lunar Sagittarians have a need for personal freedom and space. They are extraordinarily happy and easygoing folk, as long as they don’t feel caged in or cooped up.

Lunar Sagittarians have a simultaneous need for activity. Meeting new people, going out in the world, and travel are all important to their sense of well-being. They love open spaces, and, in their homes, a roomy and bright environment.

There’s a bit of a teacher in Moon in Sagittarius, and definitely a helpful spirit. They easily forget appointments and the like, and some are even considered irresponsible. However, it is hard to stay angry at a Lunar Sagittarian! They are extraordinarily cheerful and upbeat, and their optimism is catchy.

Many people with this position are outdoorsy types. At the very least, they have a great love for changes of scenery and some disdain for the regular routine. They also enjoy friendly competition.

When the going gets tough, these people run away. They don’t like to be caught up in routine for too long, and they simply need to escape. They’ll be back when they feel refreshed and when their spirits are renewed!

There’s a blind faith in Lunar Sagittarians that is admirable. They simply believe that everything will work out. Not much for making detailed plans, people with Moon in Sagittarius prefer to wing it. This can, at times, be disconcerting to those who are not as free-spirited and who’d prefer a bit of a head’s up. Moon in Sagittarius people are very adaptable and generally on the go. They are also hungry for knowledge, new experiences, and mind-expanding ideas. They are great lovers of the truth, and they make wonderful, inpsiring teachers.

♑︎ ♑︎

Being useful and productive are basic needs for Lunar Capricorns. Because they generally keep their emotions under check, Moon in Capricorn people come across as competent people.

However turbulent their emotions may be under the surface, Lunar Capricorns keep cool-headed—and they come across as steady and reliable people.

This position of the Moon suggests a desire for clear boundaries and realistic goals. Not much for taking risks in life, Lunar Capricorns look for safety and security in most everything they do. Most of them respect authority and tradition, and many are planning well ahead of the rest of us. You likely won’t have to remind them to protect their interests, plan for old age, or keep fall-back money in their bank accounts. These things come naturally to them.

Calm, cool, and collected—these words sum up Moon in Capricorn natives well. Messy emotions and “leaky” souls are a bit frightening for most with this position of the Moon. Truth is, they can have plenty of mood swings and some dark emotions now and again. Lunar Capricorns are often quite hard on themselves, and would benefit from letting their guard down once in a while. They quickly garner reputations of being mountains of strength, and they easily hide their sensitivity behind a sarcastic manner.

You may have read that Moon in Capricorn natives are a bit cold and calculating. The fact is, they are unlikely to be any less emotional than the other 11 sign positions of the Moon—they simply aren’t comfortable “letting go” when it comes to emotions. They keep their emotions under control. Wherever Capricorn is found in the chart, there is a desire for structure and control. Capricorn is the sign of organization and efficient management; so, when the Moon is found in the sign, the world of emotions are well-managed and handled in an efficient and practical manner.

At the heart of Lunar Capricorns is a powerful need to feel worthwhile in the real world. There’s a basic need for respectability and a big attachment to the world of the senses. Lunar Capricorns put a lot of value in all things tangible and real. And, perhaps more than anything, they need to be respected by others in order to feel secure.

♒︎ ♒︎

Moon in Aquarius people are extremely observant. They are lifetime students of human nature, loving to analyze why people do what they do. This often stems from a detached–even shy–personality, especially in youth. Whether due to character or conditioning, Moon in Aquarius people often grow up feeling “different”. Although rather sociable, they are often loners at heart. Many have strong egos, or at least powerful defense mechanisms, and most Lunar Aquarians will do their best to be the most unique and unusual person they can be. Their inner feeling of loneliness —that they don’t quite fit in— puts them on the outside, looking in.

There is a very idealistic and progressive streak in Lunar Aquarians that is admirable indeed. However, when the Moon is in Aquarius, natives often will deny the more irrational qualities of emotions—such as jealousy, possessiveness, and fear—in an effort to be “above” what they consider “pettiness”. When this goes too far, Lunar Aquarians can be emotionally blocked, distant, and detached.

Lunar Aquarians can be very willful, especially in childhood. With age, these natives generally learn to handle their strong needs. Their desire for independence is powerful indeed, no matter what their age. With a quiet Sun and/or Ascendant, their desire to “shock” others is not always apparent until a relationship becomes comfortable. They are generally proud of their family members, boasting just how unique they are. When their families are ultra-conservative, the boast will be that they rebelled against all of that!

Although given to temper tantrums and willful behavior in youth, Moon in Aquarius people often grow up feeling that messy emotions are unappealing. They often pride themselves for being cool-headed, detached, and “above” what they consider the baser emotions. In the process, they can end up alienating others—and themselves. Although Lunar Aquarians can be especially adept at understanding others’ behavior and motivations, they can lose touch with their own—simply because they have identified too strongly with what they aspire to be (and these aspirations are often super-human).

The Aquarian tendency to be humanitarian shows up powerfully in Moon in Aquarius. However, their kindness and concern for others is generally more a broad philosophy of life. With people close to them, Moon in Aquarius natives can seemingly lack compassion, as they often fully expect others to be as independent and detached as they are! In close, personal relationships, however, Lunar Aquarians generally give others a lot of personal freedom, and they will tolerate and enjoy all kinds of idiosyncrasies in people around them.

Moon in Aquarius people are rarely flighty people, but they can be unreliable when it concerns the little things in life. Often, this is simply an assertion of their independence. In the long haul, however, they are rather constant, as Aquarius is a fixed sign. As long as they have their own space and the freedom to be themselves, however kooky that may be, they are trustworthy and loyal.

Lunar Aquarians generally make wonderful friends. They’ll make a point of leaving nobody on the outside. Many will fight for other’s rights and crusade for equality.

What may be surprising is that Moon in Aquarius people have a lot of pride. In fact, when they’ve been attacked in any way (especially regarding their character), they can become very inflexible and cool. It can be difficult to know just how sensitive to criticism Lunar Aquarians are, simply because they hide it so well! When their character or behavior has been criticized, they tend to dig in their heels and keep right on doing it. They fully expect others to accept them exactly as they are, or they don’t have much use for them in their lives.

These sometimes maddeningly unpredictable people are nevertheless quite charming. They have an unmistakable stubborn streak, but when left to be themselves, they make unusual and endlessly interesting people to be around. Life just wouldn’t be the same without Lunar Aquarians’ unusual spin on the world and the people in it!

♓︎ ♓︎

Lunar Pisceans are known to be dreamy and not always in touch with reality. However, though these people may not always show real-world savvy in day-to-day, practical affairs, they make up for this with remarkable intuition. They can put themselves in anybody’s shoes with extreme ease. On the plus side, this endows them with remarkable compassion and love. The down side with this apparent ability to break down boundaries is that these people can easily lose themselves in the suffering of others.

Their sense of humor is delightfully silly and a bit odd. These are perceptive souls who seem to be in touch with all the nuances and subtleties of human nature. Often this comes through in a strong sense of humor that is more of the receptive kind than the type of sense of humor that would make people the “life of the party”. It’s generally pretty easy to get them giggling.

Moon in Pisces people may get tagged as “spaced out”, but there’s a lot more to them than meets the eye. They feel things out, and rely on their intuition. It just doesn’t feelright for them to do otherwise. Their dreaminess can mean plenty of moments of absent-mindedness. These times of oblivion can land them in all sorts of predicaments with others who can too easily misunderstand these complex souls. Without plenty of space and time to daydream, Pisces Moons easily get overloaded with life. Give them room to be alone with themselves, and they’re generally able to take on the world—even if their style when they do so is not always conventional or understandable.

Generally considered soft-hearted and sweet, Lunar Pisceans care about others and are easily touched by human suffering. This tendency gains them the reputation as suckers for sob stories. Although this may sometimes be true, many Lunar Pisceans learn, in their lifetimes, how to discern between sincerity and manipulation. Still, they definitely do have plenty of soft corners.

There’s a delightful accepting side to Moon in Pisces that is sometimes mistaken for weakness. Pisces is the twelfth and last sign of the zodiac, and thus carries with it a little of each sign of the zodiac. As a result, they see themselves reflected in the behavior of others, giving them seemingly boundless compassion. Since the Moon represents our instinctive nature, Moon in Pisces seems to know how things feel without actual experience. For example, they may have never had sex, but seem to know all about it — even, or especially, the subtleties of it. The ones that aren’t too shy make awesome actors and actresses. This ability to empathize even in the absence of experience gives them an open mind and heart. Most long to express this through writing, music (both listening and making), poetry, and art —in fact, the happiest people with this position do just that.

Though some are doormats, most Pisces Moon people instinctively know when they’re due for a much-needed recharge. It’s at these times that they retreat from the world (and its harsh realities) if only to gather strength to face everything and everyone again. Solitude is important to them, but they also need people, so their retreats will usually be short-lived. Pisces Moon individuals believe; and, let’s face it, the world needs Piscean leaps of faith.

I used to not be a huge fan of pre-made interpretations, but I remember when I first started studying astrology how helpful they really were in getting me to where I am now. So, that being said, here we go.

*If you resonate with this post (or if you do not), please drop a comment and/or share. Feedback is always helpful! Plus, it’s always fun to hear what people who HAVE a certain placement have to say about their experience with it.*

What is the moon? It represents our intuition, of course. How we see the unseen, how we feel what we can’t directly view. Each sign has its own way of doing that.

Moon in Aries: This placement tends to see things as they are. In fact, of all the moon signs, they’re the least likely to assume or read into anything. This is a double edged sword, as they read into something, but they are also extremely likely to miss something “between the lines” in another person’s actions. They also have a tendency to assume that everyone is as direct as they are, and can become frustrated by the roundabout other moon placements go about things. Their simplicity, however, allows them be firm in their opinions and devote less time to forming them and more time to acting on them. Sometimes Aries moons are inaccurately judged as mean or trying to be hurtful when they are simply unaware something was expected of them. This sign is almost never devious, and when they are upset, they are well aware and will make sure you are as well.

Moon in Taurus: This placement tend to decide very quickly whether or not they like something. It takes quite a bit to get them to change their mind, since their instincts are going to insist that they stand their ground. Even when they do change their minds, Taurus moons can be prone to harboring a lingering sense of their original judgement call. This rootedness in their opinion, however, makes them much more difficult to deceive, as they don’t forget their original perception of how something was once they see it.

Moon in Gemini: This placement tends to be the hardest for other moons to pin down. Gemini is possibly the most versatile placement for the moon, as someone with this placement can feel one way one moment, and then completely different later on. This emotional range can cause them to be prone to a bit of an identity crisis, as they easily identify with very different groups of people. As quickly as they arrived at an opinion, they’ve found someone else with a new way to look at it to listen to.

Moon in Cancer: This placement has an amazing capacity to gain an intuitive feel for just about anything. It analyzes and feels situations in great depth, far more than other moon placements do. Because of the amount of emotional energy this placement expends in gaining a strong understanding of its initial experience with something, it can become upset when it has to redo this learning in a new environment.  Their strong understanding comes from a tendency to estimate, because they instinctively know they don’t always see the whole picture. So, they fill in the details with their imaginations. On one hand, their estimations can seem almost psychically accurate, but occasionally they get too much in their own heads trying to figure something out and are a bit off. While it is capable of adapting, it takes it much longer to do so than faster placements because of the amount of work that goes into gaining real understanding rather than cursory knowledge. Cancer moons can be prone to “rejecting the new” (people, ideas, ect) as a result, but eventually do warm up to it.

Moon in Leo: This placement is often hyper-aware, subconsciously, of how precious their time is. They can sometimes appear to other placements as conceited or too self-important to be bothered, but they are probably the only placement who realized how precious life is. Now, they tend to direct this thought more towards their own life, but they can also have extremely warm and inspiring opinions for those they care about because they intuitively feel how precious and amazing those people are.

Moon in Virgo: This placement, while actually quite peaceful by nature, is easily stressed out. Once they are made aware of an issue (contrary to popular belief, they do not LOOK for things to correct, those things are forced into their awareness) they have an intense compulsion to fix it. Virgo is quite spiritual by nature and has a natural understanding that small things are best handled before they become bigger things. This sense of how things incur over time leads them to want to do everything NOW, despite their frustrating human limitations. They can also feel bitter because they are painfully aware of how many things they can’t control are going to snowball, but without them so many things that are in their control do NOT snowball, and most other placements do not realize how frequently this is the case.

Moon in Libra: This placement has the unusual ability to understand both sides of an issue and simultaneously empathize with both points and neither of them at the same time. While most people assume those with this placement are stuck between seeing two ideas as equally good, they are more often in the precarious position of seeing both options as equally bad, and are forced to come up with an alternative. To reiterate, they do not have a hard time deciding. Most of the time, when given two choices, a Libra moon’s instinct is to sort of “nope” out of them both, giving the illusion of indecision. This is because they intuitively knowthere is a better option to be found somewhere. This can, however, take a lot of time to discover, and sometimes opportunities where taking the lesser of two evils would have been preferable to inaction pass them by. Just as often, though, they find an option that is better than either original proposition.

Moon in Scorpio: This placement tends to be pretty chill. While outwardly, they may seem sad, they typically just have resting bitch face (I’m sorry, but you know it’s true.) and are in a calm state. Scorpio moons understand that everything in our world is temporary. They’re actually capable of feeling immense joy because of how present they can be in an imperfect moment. Other placements can’t seem to understand why something makes them so darn happy, while they seemingly don’t care about anything else in the world. The simple answer is that when they’re happy, they know they weren’t owed it and there’s no guarantee it’ll happen ever again, so they feel it all at once. This can also leave them apathetic to others’ pain, because to them, the awareness of something’s temporary nature is so plain it’s almost funny to them when someone else thought something would last forever. They aren’t as callous as they appear, but they will always be reserved around those who do not share their understanding of how fleeting things really are.

Moon in Sagittarius: This placement has an intuitive understanding that there is always something more to be found, whether it be in a person’s actions, an event they watch happen, or even their own understanding and existence. They are constantly trying to figure out how things relate. The world, however, has many layers and while Sagittarius moons accurately connect some of those layers, sometimes they miss others and think they have the whole picture before they do. Often times, they have enough of the picture put together to make something work that everyone else assumed would fail, but other times they have to completely redraw their mental map from scratch, which they do with surprising glee and fervor. That forward drive allows them to recover from things that would cripple other placements, although they may find those situations are often self made.

Moon in Capricorn: This placement embody’s survival of the fittest. They can seem cold, but really, the just have a strong sense of what will work and what will not. They are often ashamed of their own flaws far more than other placements, and tend to cope by compensating heavily with growing stronger. Capricorn moons have a very hard time ignoring facts for their own comfort, much less the comfort of others. Concrete truths ring true to their core, and as much as they may try to bend them, they always come back to what they know will work and what will not based on the facts.

Moon in Aquarius: This placement has a natural curiosity unparalleled by other placements. They can be prone to intrusive thoughts and impulsive actions because they simply want to see what will happen, and may do things that go against widely accepted social codes both intentionally and unintentionally. They learn how to intuitively find solutions to a multitude of life’s problems, but are much more interested in finding the solutions than implementing them. This can leave them in a great position to give advice to other people and even themselves, but unless the circumstances are compelling, their unlikely to follow their own good advice. They simply prefer to find a different way to do something. It looks like reinventing the wheel from the outside, but for Moon in Aquarius folks, life is simply begging to be played with, and doing something the simple way isn’t living at all. It may take them years, but they almost always find a workaround.

Moon in Pisces: This placement instinctively reverses everything it feels. While they do connect to the opinions and feelings of others, their tendency to also acknowledge the opposite position can leave them feeling equally connected and isolated, as if they have a second personality. Pisces moons can exist in two worlds at once completely, which tends to manifest as inaction on their part. While they may outwardly act one way, their imagination compensates by wondering how things would go if they did they exact opposite of what they do. Their dual nature can make them easy to connect with halfway, but almost impossible to connect with fully. They can seem a little melancholy on the outside because they feel a sense of sadness that other placements can’t keep up with how fast their imagination works and how crucial understanding their imagination is to understanding not just how they interact with the world, but how they feel about those interactions.

I strongly encourage you to share this link with your friends who are maybe on the fence about astrology, as I’m trying to get a decent sample size. If everyone I survey are astrologers themselves it could impact my results. Normally I do not offer free readings to people I don’t know, but it’s essential I don’t have a personal relationship with the person I’m reading for this particular study.

NATALMOONINLIBRA

_____________ how they feel _____________

like the moon in gemini individual, this person thinks before they feel. the moon in libra individual is rational and reasonable, rather than deeply emotive. therefore, their emotional range is fairly limited and their feelings can be fleeting.

because they tend to be more cool and friendly than deeply feeling, they can also be uncomfortable with the feelings of others. being an air sign, which rules thinking and communication, the moon in libra individual is more at home with clever conversation than an intense outpouring of emotion. they can be charming when flirting but are often a bit detached when it comes to taking into consideration the feelings of others. when cornered, they can cut themself off and seem like someone who is not quite as charming as they initially appeared.

all air sign moons seek freedom, and they demonstrate that in how they respond to life. this person may seem easygoing and fully capable of handling most anything that comes their way, but they can be easily suffocated and intimidated by too much intensity. the moon in libra individual may mask this under their easygoing veneer. however, this need will surface in time, and they will see to it that it is honored. as a result, this person has their own sense of space and timing. if pushed for too much closeness too soon, they will be so acutely uncomfortable that they will probably back off. like all air sign moons they need breathing space, and they will see to it that they get it, no matter what they have to do and where they have to go to find it.

_______ how they show their feelings _______

the moon in libra individual is very romantic and communicative. when in love, they are big on beautiful gestures like flowers and nights out at fine restaurants.

they will compliment you over candlelight and offer clever cheery conversation. on special occasions, they may break out the champagne and think up magical things to do that will make the evening unique and really memorable.

in the case of a quarrel, they will talk things out reasonably, trying to come to the most agreeable solution. because they are able to see both sides of a situation, the moon in libra individual can also be a convincing and non-threatening communicator who keeps things so clear that they seem to be easily resolved. at all costs they will maneuver the conversation away from meanness and ugliness, sorting out differences and keeping everything civilized.

NATALMOONINGEMINI

_____________ how they feel _____________

the moon in gemini individual thinks before they feel. their life is one long thought that keeps changing through time and space. their nature is cool and detached and their emotions superficial. because of this they are acutely uncomfortable with intense emotional displays.

life can fly past them since they don’t hold on to feelings for very long. the positive aspect of their nature is that they can let go and move on after a bad experience. the negative aspect is that they can also be emotionally fickle. unless there are other influences in their chart, the moon in gemini individual has a tendency to not be very compassionate. basically, this is because they don’t have the depth to really understand other people’s feelings, and they also don’t want to get trapped by any pain.

this individual is very mercurial and can’t really understand emotional consistency. therefore, if they promise one thing in one moment and days later finds their circumstances have changed, they will change with them and most likely will not deliver. needless to say, this person is not the most emotionally dependable. usually, they also don’t feel guilt or remorse about putting people in painful predicaments. their emotional range doesn’t extend to include strong empathy. it is too fast moving and needful of freedom and space.

this is an individual who can be emotionally cool or even cold, depending on what is coming at them. any strong emotional demands or heavy emotional displays have an adverse effect on them, making them close up and cut off. on the other hand, humor and quick-wittedness expand their feelings and free them to be themself in the moment. a butterfly of sorts, they soar through mental space and settle wherever it seems convenient. emotionally, they will stay there until they get bored. then they move quickly on to a new person, place, idea, or possibility. the moon in gemini individual is in love with novelty. it brings little bursts of excitement through their heart that have a way of playing with their brain, the center of their natural focus. to get to their heart you have to go through their mind and make them feel fully alive.

_______ how they show their feelings _______

because they have a tendency to think rather than feel, the moon in gemini individual is logical, articulate, and reasonable in most situations. they will try to talk things out and make sense out of nonsense and are often amazingly successful at doing so. this can be a great plus to their personality since it can cool down an argument and create a workable compromise. in general, they are not one to get lost in the eye of the emotional storm. the moon in gemini individual does not easily lose their mind to either minor or major differences.

sometimes they can’t feel, especially if drowned out by someone else’s emotional maelstrom. raw, angry emotion can make them cut off, and teary-eyed episodes take all their patience. the moon in gemini individual can be frosty when they feel forced into places they don’t want to be. their emotional comfort zone drives them to keep things cool, light, and breezy. this emotional reaction is their escape hatch and it’s something they need to have at all times.

when emotionally involved, they’ll communicate by talking about their plans and ideas or by sharing activities that are stimulating or fun. the moon in gemini individual likes to have a good time and keep it light and lively. for them loving someone’s company means falling in love. however, they won’t get down on their knees and make dramatic declarations. they’ll just keep calling.

it must be mentioned that this individual can also be emotionally changeable and run from hot to cold in record time. if they feel bored, closed in, or that a situation is getting too predictable, this is the time when the air around them may cool and they may disappear. the moon in gemini individual can be quite ruthless about this sort of behavior and curiously devoid of guilt or compassion. their disappearing acts are knee-jerk responses to situations they find boring and unbearable. the moon in gemini individual’s emotional survival mechanism sometimes renders them so detached that they aren’t capable of making a strong connection with anyone. they tend to be a peter pan type who needs a lot of time to grow up and become comfortable feeling more deeply.

who they are emotionally

NATALMOONINGEMINI

________ who they are emotionally ________

the moon in gemini individual is ruled by their head and often has a hard time connecting to their heart. by nature they need a lot of change, variety, diversity, and stimulation to keep their demanding cerebral side happy. therefore, they respond to humor, cleverness, quick-wittedness, and sparkling conversation that keeps their mind moving. emotionally detached and needing a challenge, they are most taken with a partner who can be equal to their personality and maybe even dazzle and outdistance them with their own wit.

this is an individual who might say one thing and do another, only because they feel so completely different from day to day. they might not even be aware of it but their quicksilver mind demands a wide range of stimuli or else their attention will fade away. they can be quite fickle and a challenge to pin down. however, they are also winsome and can be a charming companion for the restless sort of partner who is simply interested in having a good time with no strings attached.

they are a friendly individual who is initially most entranced by someone great to talk to. however, it might also be said that because they are so friendly, open, and curious, they find that many people usually interest them in a lot of different ways. they are capable of carrying on several relationships at the same time since they like the feeling that they are going places both mentally and physically. restless, changeable, curious, and inquisitive, they often have a large repertoire of interests that they pursue in their own haphazard fashion, sometimes merely dabbling superficially and losing their enthusiasm in midstream.

the mind here is always moving in overdrive and forever thinking ahead. the moon in gemini individual has a hard time staying in the present unless they get lost in a perfect conversation that fascinates them so much they forget what time it is. easily bored, they cannot bear belabored points, long-drawn-out detailed stories, or intense emotional scenes that they feel drains the life right out of them. when bored, trapped, or seriously confronted, this is an individual who will take flight. they are fond of the easy way out and, if compromised, won’t communicate or return phone calls.

freedom-loving and yearning to experience a strong degree of novelty and variety, the moon in gemini individual can be a trifle flighty. this individual needs their space as well as time spent traveling around in their different dimensions. anyone trying to close in on them or tie them down is in store for some serious disappointments. when it comes to commitment, they take it slow and can have a hard time when it comes to monogamy. independent and always wondering what’s around the corner, they often feel they can’t be cramped into conforming to someone else’s expectations or routine. one part of them may indeed want a relationship, but their gemini moon will still demand that they remain free.

the moon in gemini individual is best off with a partner who is a friend with whom they love to talk and share similar interests. personal respect and intellectual compatibility are on the top of their list for the perfect lover. security-seeking partners who are diminished by the capriciousness of a forgotten phone call are not for them. to enjoy a gemini moon individual you have to be able to live in the moment and like doing that. then one day you may find that one moment at a time has turned into a lifetime.

MOONINGEMINI-SAGITTARIUS…continued

SUN-MOONCOMBINATIONS

sun in aries… these people use their intelligence, communication skills, and imagination to become leaders. in school they may have been leaders academically and socially; later, they pursue excellence and prominence in their chosen careers. unless the sun is badly afflicted, there is little, if any, manifestation of the self-centeredness common to some arians; the outgoing energy of gemini-sagittarius seems to counterbalance much of the “I, me, mine” tendencies of aries. in prior lives these individuals were involved with idealistic pursuits, but as followers, sometimes under frustrating circumstances. now they seek to become leaders.

though they may become involved in causes, this is not always true, as it usually is with the aquarian. rather, those arians with a moon-gemini-sagittarius karmic configuration set certain idealistic standards which they try to reach and uphold in whatever they do, especially with regard to intellectual and philosophical pursuits. they do not possess a great deal of physical stamina unless fixed signs are prominent in their charts. they operate mainly on bursts of nervous energy and must be careful not to push themselves too hard or they may damage their health.

sun in taurus… these individuals pursue ideals and duties with the steadfastness and persistence typical of taurus. they persevere even if all their fantasies regarding that which they serve have been stripped away. whether the object of their devotion is a cause, person, or job, they continue to pursue it. even though the frequent mood changes typical of moon-gemini-sagittarius may cause them to proclaim loudly that they are ready to “chuck it all,” they rarely do. the pattern has been repeated through many previous lifetimes: the staunch, dogged pursuit of a chosen course of action no matter what comes along in the process. in many ways, this is an admirable trait; however, the danger lies in not knowing the proper time to cut losses and move on should their pursuits prove not to be in their best interests.

unlike the arian, the taurian with this pattern is not a leader by nature. of necessity, these people may assume such roles from time to time, but usually depend on those with more fiery natures to take initial action. once the course of action is chosen, however, the taurian sticks with it.

the loyalty of these people is generally above reproach. though taurians may disagree with you in private, if they have cast their lots with you they will defend you staunchly in public. the danger in this trait is that should loyalty be misplaced, it will take more than persuasion or even disillusionment to cause them to withdraw it. these individuals need to learn to view their needs as being as important as the needs of a leader or cause. it involves breaking patterns formed in many lifetimes, but it can be done by utilizing the flexibility inherent in gemini-sagittarius to achieve the necessary equilibrium.

sun in gemini… communication abilities are meant to be developed as fully as possible. these individuals love to read, are knowledgeable on many subjects, and, unless water signs are prominent in their charts, practically never stop talking. the telephone is an important part of their lives and often they love to write long, newsy letters. to some, they may seem “scatterbrained,” but this is only because they have many divergent interests and are capable of pursuing more than one thing at a time.

these individuals are the peter pans of the zodiac; they never really grow up. they project an eternally child-like image that can be alternately aggravating and endearing. in prior lives, they may have been weighed down with responsibilities and longed to escape from them. in the later lives, they turned away responsibility altogether and became wanderers. in their current lifetimes, they don’t actually shirk responsibility but try whenever possible to avoid assuming it. they may have trouble deciding on their life’s work because emotionally they are responding to many past lifetimes in which they had different talents and interests. counseling may be necessary to help them determine which of these abilities is best suited for present-life circumstances. this is very important as they need to find adequate outlets for their ideas and nervous energy.

sun in cancer… these individuals are warm and sensitive as well as outgoing and gregarious, and are usually well-liked and popular. at times they experience mood swings, though, that can turn them from social butterflies to recluses. they are generous and giving, and women of this sign in particular are most maternal in nature. however, they can carry this to extremes, so that others, instead of being “nurtured,” feel smothered and pull away, leaving the cancer-sun people confused and embittered. this tendency is a remnant from one of two past-life patterns; these individuals were either in positions where they desperately needed help or comfort and couldn’t find it, or they were parents with many children. the main thing to be aware of with this configuration is to give others enough breathing space and to make sure they want help before giving it.

sun in leo… these people shine. particularly if taurus, leo, libra, or pisces is on the ascendant, they are generally quite attractive physically. their charisma and charm transcend all bounds, though they may be a bit superficial. they can be very generous and giving to their families and close friends, but most of their other relationships are marked by shallowness. this is not intentional; rather, these people try to maintain close relationships with all they meet. however, they come into contact with so many people that this is virtually impossible. often they spread themselves too thin and promise more than they can deliver.

in prior lives, these individuals may have been well-intentioned political leaders who entertained high hopes for themselves and for their country, and did the best they could to please everyone - often failing miserably in the attempt, but never ceasing to try. now, in their current lifetimes, they are still subconsciously pursuing those high hopes, which is fine so long as they are careful not to promise what they may not be able to produce. these people must learn to budget their time and to limit their promises. they will be liked, respected, and appreciated much more if they are honest with others - and themselves - about what they can and cannot do.

sun in virgo… virgos with this karmic configuration also have a tendency to spread themselves too thin. however, these individuals, rather than simply making promises, actually take on the work and do it. they sometimes find themselves working long into the night, trying to live up to all the responsibilities they have assumed. for such people, helping others is a vital part of life and they only really feel worthy when they are serving someone else. they can be generous to a fault, and rarely complain.

if the sun is afflicted, however, they may become “martyrs,” complaining loudly about being “used” then wondering why others no longer ask them for help. although helping others is a vital part of their lives, at the same time they have a tendency to resent those they help. this need to serve is a pattern learned in many past lives. the insecurities in the more negative manifestations of the pattern result from subconscious memories of lifetimes when these individuals were shamefully used by others who cared little about them. because these people tend to take on so many different projects, they push themselves to keep going for long periods on nervous energy, with little food or sleep. eventually this can lead to total collapse, as these people do not possess an endless supply of physical stamina. they need to guard against trying to help too many people, for they can damage themselves both physically and psychologically in the process.

sun in libra… these people love parties and groups, and see every life situation as an opportunity for social contact. their social calendars are always crowded, and their professions are likely to bring them into contact with many different types of people. law and education are excellent fields for these individuals. they have many divergent hobbies and interests, and may be compulsive “joiners,” wanting to become a part of any group or association connected with any of their interests. they usually are gracious and have excellent manners, and can relate well to almost anybody. like the virgoan, they enjoy helping people, but the resentment which the virgoan may experience is absent in those with sun in libra. the libran with the moon-gemini-sagittarius pattern has an excellent sense of humor and likes to crack jokes. they can be moody, however. the gemini-sagittarius dual nature coupled with the occasional unbalancing of the libran scales can catapult these people from charming openness into the darkest moods. their unpredictability can weigh considerably on those around them.

the sullenness appears to stem from past existences in which these people were hermits, loners, who had at the most one other person to whom they were devoted totally. in their current lives, when heavy transits trigger the dark moods, they may instinctively try to withdraw, but find themselves constantly in social situations regardless. the current lifetime may represent an opportunity to develop the gemini-sagittarius balance and communicative skills through constant interaction with other human beings - something which was avoided in prior lifetimes.

sun in scorpio… these indivuals are considerably less communicative than most people with the moon-gemini-sagittarius pattern. their dialogues tend to be internal, as the most knowledgeable people they know appear to be themselves. they are more inclined to engage in intellectual discussions than in socializing and small talk. authors with this combination usually prefer writing non-fiction rather than popular novels. in all their communications they display a power and intensity that is lacking in those of the other sun signs who share the same moon pattern. their drive to acquire information is strong and these indivuals will read, go to lectures, buy self-help tapes, or watch educational tv to gain more knowledge. they listen and absorb, but give out information only when they feel it is to their advantage to do so. when they do disseminate information, they have a tendency to use high-flown, euphemistic language that goes right over the heads of most of their listeners. this is the result of combining the sagittarian desire to share information with the secrecy of scorpio.

these people possess subconscious awareness of the nature of the universe acquired in previous lives and use it to pursue the ideals of truth (represented by sagittarius). they can make excellent teachers, doctors, chemists, physicists, and astronomers. in prior lives they may have been physicians, magicians, herbalists, or alchemists, and they are capable of pursuing the modern equivalents of these professions.

sun in sagittarius… these people use their affability and communicative skills to advance themselves professionally. they have a knack for meeting and impressing the right people and professional success at some stage in life is almost certain. innate idealism causes them to strive for perfection in all they do and they are often too hard on themselves when they fail to live up to their own standards - which sometimes are impossibly high. like those with sun in gemini, these indivuals are extremely talkative and often are gifted orators, punctuating conversations with effusive gestures. their outgoing optimistic nature serves them well; however, they need to guard against being boastful and overly idealistic. nervousness also can be a problem, even leading to strokes in extreme cases.

their prior lifetimes are hard to categorize. cases in our files include princes, paupers, doctors, and thieves. however, it appears that in choosing to be born at a time when there was a heavy karmic concentration across the jovial, outgoing gemini-sagittarius axis, these indivuals were all reacting to one particular past lifetime which was so terrible and so depressing that the sorrow lingering from it still threatens the peace of the present.

sun in capricorn… much of this individual’s energy, both physical and emotional, is channeled into pursuing ambitions. the love of social contact, affable nature, and desire for freedom characteristic of gemini-sagittarius are still there, but the innate conservative nature of capricorn makes these people more inhibited in their self-expression than others with the moon-gemini-sagittarius pattern. they may feel frustrated because although they want to behave in a liberated and unrestricted manner, their innate respect for traditions causes them to restrain themselves all too often.

these people are completing one karmic cycle and beginning another. in many prior incarnations they were wanderers, as typified by this axis, who had little concern for others or for the beliefs and mores of their societies; they did pretty much as they pleased. in their current lifetimes, they are discovering the value of tradition and social custom and finding ways to use these in pursuing their goals. they need to bear in mind, however, that traditions were never meant to be chains, only guidelines. it is important that these individuals learn to view society’s conventions in their proper perspective and know when to follow them and when to deviate from them. they also need to take time out from work occasionally for a long vacation and indulge their emotional desire for freedom.

sun in aquarius… this individual’s mental gifts are channeled into science, modern technology, and other areas requiring inventiveness such as computer science and aerospace. sociable and group-orientated, such persons often join organizations, clubs, or unions, particularly those espousing new ideas and modern concepts.

in many prior lifetimes, they worked on developing their mental capacities but lacked focus or direction. they acquired many interests and much knowledge but did not put this knowledge to concrete use. in their current incarnations, they are applying everything they’ve learned in the past toward advancing knowledge and technology. however, they should take care not to get so lost in the pursuit of new ideas and technological advances that they lose sight of the need for close, interpersonal relationships.

sun in pisces… these individuals have high ideals and are often concerned with spiritual advancement. frequently, however, they become caught up in fantasy and illusion, seeing the world through the proverbial rose-colored glasses. if their illusions are stripped away, they may seek to escape from the world, possibly through alcohol or drugs, but more likely by retreating. they might, for example, join some kind of religious order or retire to an out-of-the-way place where they can live in solitude. their keen intellects and fertile imaginations may lead them to careers as writers, artists, poets, or musicians. inspirational themes might be chosen and a great deal of passion channeled into their work so that their art sometimes seems divinely inspired.

in prior incarnations, these people were probably mystics, constantly searching for god. at some time they likely wrote religious tracts or poetry, or expressed their faith through art or music. they again feel a desire to follow this path in the present and should not hesitate to use their talents accordingly. but they should also bear in mind that retreat - for artistic purposes or spiritual development - should not be total. the true test of a saint is being able to retain one’s faith while living in the “real” world.

astrology and past lives…

MOONINGEMINI-SAGITTARIUS

principle…seek freedom or die.

transformation… I find freedom even within bonds.

many brilliant and gifted people have the moon in a gemini-sagittarius karmic configuration. they are coming from many prior incarnations in which they were scholars and thus find it easy to re-learn information acquired long ago. sometimes this knowledge comes to them spontaneously, in the course of a conversation, and they literally do not know where it came from. the fact is that something in the conversation awakened an ancient store of information in the subconscious and brought it to the surface.

in prior lifetimes, these people were travelers whose lives were full of changes and sometimes adventures. their many high ideals led them to spend their lives continually searching for the pot of gold or the holy grail. they rarely found what they sought, and, on the few occasions when they did, they simply moved on to search for something else. their emotional natures have been marked by many moods.

now these individuals may seek to repeat these patterns. they have a passionate emotional attachment to their ideals and cling to them fervently. they possess vivid imaginations, clever and ingenious minds, versatility, intense powers of expression, and an eternal desire for wisdom. they want to know what makes a clock work or how a piano produces music. these individuals generally make excellent teachers, writers, poets, and, if other factors in the chart support it, musicians, for self-expression is deeply ingrained in them. there is ingenuity and originality about all they do. generally quite charming, they attract many friends and acquaintances.

these individuals also have a way of projecting their ideals onto other people and identifying totally with those others, be they friends, employers or public figures. the inherent danger in this tendency is that eventually the idealized person will turn out to be human with human failings. sometimes the idealization and identification is not with a person, but with a cause or a concept (sometimes both). this may prove dangerous if these people do not see their causes or concepts from all possible viewpoints - for there is a chink in every wall, and if the chink is not mended, the wall itself may come tumbling down. the secret in achieving the necessary balance is not to allow one’s emotions (moon) to overwhelm one’s logic (gemini) and create such idealism (sagittarius) that one loses touch with reality.

these individuals may hold an exalted concept of devotion to duty, yet at the same time, have a passionate desire for freedom. the latter is an emotional residue from lifetimes in which they were wanderers, owing nothing to anyone. for most people, the concept of duty and that of freedom may seem mutually exclusive, but these individuals in many cases put their innate ingenuity to work and find ways to reconcile the two.

whensaturn is involved in the configuration, there is some kind of bond, some kind of duty, some kind of karmic obligation that interferes with the individual’s quest for freedom. one may be frustrated and stifled on all sides, and sometimes feel the need to break loose from everything and run away. to achieve the balance signified by this polar axis, though, one needs to use the basic ingenuity and versatility inherent in this polarity to reconcile both the need for freedom and the karmic obligation to one’s cause. it is almost as if this individual chose to come back in a situation where their innate ingenuity must be put to use. if uranus is involved in the configuration, the need for breaking free is much stronger than usual. if there is no saturn bond, the individual may opt for a totally unconventional life and become a bohemian artist, poet, musician, or professional traveler. if the saturn bond does exist, this person may seek an outlet through unconventional studies such as astrology or alchemy, or may channel uranian needs through unusual relationships. these people are gifted in oratory and propaganda, and will probably find it necessary at some point to make a break at one time or another. perhaps in prior incarnations such individuals were bound too closely to an ideal or cause, or it may be necessary to break with their sense of duty and approach life in an entirely new and different manner. uranus represents the need to tear down old structures in order to make way for the new. if neptune is involved in the configuration, sensitivity and emotional responsiveness are increased. a vivid imagination strengthens the idealistic nature and devotion; however, the danger of illusion and over-idealization also is heightened. there can be a tendency to shirk responsibility. in past lives these people have been involved with mysticism and nature religions, and these influences can carry over into their current lifetimes. if they can overcome the tendency to be too impressionable and gullible, their sensitivity and intelligence can be applied in counseling careers. they have highly developed intuitions and strong desires for higher knowledge. inevitably, their kindness, sensitivity, and imagination make them extremely well-liked; they never lack friends. however, they must take special care to see their friends as they really are rather than as they want or expect them to be. if pluto is involved, devotion to ideals invariably leads to an inner transformation of some sort. these people may suffer disillusionment and be forced to face up to this disillusionment. at some point, they undoubtedly will find that all their childhood images of the world have been stripped away, and may have to learn to find meaning in their lives without resorting to fantasies of perfection. they may become cold and embittered, or use pluto’s power of regeneration to make themselves and their lives stronger, more responsible, more powerful, and more meaningful.

Gemini anthem

Damned if I do
Damned if I don’t
You know I got a girl back home
You got a man what you want, what you want
What these bitches want from a n—
On some DMX shit
I know them other n— love tricking
On some BMX shit
But not me
Now I’m sure you done heard about me
A black star, Mos Def, Kweli
Good southern bad hoes try me, they try me
This is Martin Luther King in the club
Getting dubs, with a bad bitch
In his ear sayin’ she down for whatever
In the back of his mind is Coretta

littlestardoll:

*sun is how you think, moon is how you feel, venus is how you love*

AriesThe Velocity. When you’re with her, her heart pumps adrenaline straight into your veins. She is the arms you fall into when the rush becomes too much. You never knew someone with such a hard head could have a heart this soft. She’ll light you on fire until you get used to the burn, until her jarring touch is as soft as feathers. And she will help you up every time, you take her hand and it’s like being in a freefall but it’s okay because you’re not alone. What she want’s deep down is someone who can run wild with her. You lose her the moment you try to control her. Don’t. Just enjoy the ride, for it’s one of a kind.

TaurusThe Mystic. She is the vivacity of the living, the one who defies gravity. Her heart floating around her body makes you believe in magic. The kind everyone wants to experience. She pops her gum and tells you to put your money where your mouth is. So you rip your chest open, the blood of your beating heart splattering onto her lips. She cradles you in her arms, your worship inducing a heartfelt laughter that echoes through the vertigo of your final moment. “You did good.” she whispers, and at last you are at peace.

GeminiThe Dandelion, her soaring heart tied to a string. She’ll rock you ultra slowly until you feel you could fade away into nothing, and live forever amongst the clouds. She demands you show her everything you have to give, before she even much as gives you a smile. The quest for her heart is for only the brave. She doesn’t mind what people say, the one who she calls hers has to be unyielding. So she won’t feel so liquid all the time.

CancerThe Lighthouse. Her satin heart is safely kept, for the one who will finally be worthy. But for now she will dance, she will dance with every angel until she finds the one with the shy smile and the softest curls. At night she tells the Moon all her secrets, and now she has a secret that makes her bones shiver and her lips tremble. She loves you, I promise. Just ask the Moon.

Leo Her heart is a cup overflowing with all things lovely, filling the hearts of others as easily as she fills her own. The Fountain of Youth. Hope, lust, tenderness. You can’t help but look at her in awe and think, “I am. Because of you.” The fear you try so hard to ignore is because she doesn’t need to prove her worthiness to anyone, you’re worried that someday she won’t need you. But if she loves you, you don’t need to be afraid. She will be with you when the world ends.

VirgoThe Goddess. Her heart is a forest, full of life and mystery. She brings my soul to harmony in return for the respect she rightfully deserves. She cares for her world with everything she has, believing in the pure radiance of the noble hearted. Many might mistake her benevolence for weakness. However when she finds a bad seed, let’s just say nature can be a cruel master. After all she is the source of life and will not be exploited by the greedy. But to those who love with an open heart she gifts the vitality of spirit, and the liberation of the metaphysical mind.

Libra Her slow heartbeat echoes as it pulses against your palm, right through your bloodstream. She licks her lips and sways her hips to the rhythm. The Delilah. You cross your heart and close your eyes. “Open.” she whispers, and the cosmos had swallowed the pool table and barflies of the roadside dive. All you hear is her soft giggle and ocean waves crashing in slow motion. “Welcome to Eden.” You look around you, and you notice your blood isn’t vibrating anymore. You ask her how she found this place. She gently shakes her head with a smile on her lips and says, “Darling, you’re inside of me.”

ScorpioThe Red Winged Angel, always under my skin. The beat of your heart vibrating through my system and I’m afraid that if you touch me I will shatter to a million pieces. Late at night I dream of finding someone as sensuelle as you. Sometimes I wonder how many hearts you own, even though I can’t quit you. I don’t know what I am addicted to more, your touch or the fact that you could disintegrate the earth from underneath me if you wanted to.

SagittariusThe Honeymoon. The fast moving gal who likes them slow. If you want her heart take her for a night drive. Show her the world through your eyes. Make her feel something she’s never felt before. Free yourself from the malevolent, open your chest and breathe her in. Give her the part of you that makes you human, and she will turn you into something ethereal.

CapricornThe Empress. Class and a pure heart, and the international woman of mystery. And even though games don’t interest her, that don’t mean she doesn’t know how to play. No one does it like her. It’s almost painful how she works you, heightening all your senses with perfect impulse control. Engage at your own risk, because she will make you miss her more than anyone you’ve ever met. But if you want to love her, she’ll hold you down for life in hazy love daydream.

Aquarius I’ve seen her in my fantasies. The Extraterrestrial. She’ll waltz right into your love sphere like she owns the place, utterly unignorable. And then she’ll smile, like she has no fucking idea. And you wonder if she really doesn’t. She goes around granting all your wishes and you wonder, why she gives you the world but won’t let you feel her heart. And she will never tell you, because feelings are hard for robot girls. She is afraid she’s too cold inside. What she doesn’t realize is she loves enough for the entire universe, she is too busy electrifying other dimensions into existence. One day she’ll come back down to earth and see everyone around her on their knees.

PiscesShe is the light that shines through the night. The Clair de Lune. You fall into her plush essence and she lets you, like a bug stuck in her amber heart. And you think how every moment of your life has brought you closer to this, to her. You finally understand the beauty of minimalism. Not every star needs to be possessed. Not every silence has to be filled. The most important things are the ones you can’t see with your eyes. Live for this. For the feeling.

Sun in Gemini

The Sun creates brilliantly and distractedly. Geminis have a restless urge to receive and give information in every way possible; reading, studying, phoning and talkin face to face. Enthusiastically and diversely, they enable the numerous projects, ideas and theories they always have on the go. They will engage in anything from the most profound interaction to everyday gossip. Focusing on a central idea is vital. When they overstretch and lose control, others can feel stranded.

Moon in Gemini

The Moon reacts accommodatingly and neurotically. Those with the Moon in Gemini have a curiosity and enthusiasm for mental stimulation that makes their lives exciting and busy. They love to bring others into conversations, as much to pour out personal information as to listen. Reacting too often and too quickly can lead to misunderstandings. Do not allow this. Ask clarifying questions and let people solve their own problems. Then anxiety goes away.
