Tuesday:

Moon Age Day 20; Moon Sign Virgo

“Whatever ideas you have up your sleeve, this is the day to put them to the test. The lunar high assists you to succeed, and to show your winning ways in social and professional situations. Overturning an obstacle from the past might prove to be nothing more than a frame of mind, and this is an ideal time to do it.”

Monday:

Moon Age Day 19; Moon Sign Virgo

“This is the time you should make some of the most important changes of the month. Fresh starts and innovations should be a natural aspect of life now, and you have all the energy you need to get them going. Other planetary positions assist that of the Moon in offering the most progressive phase for weeks or maybe even months.”

Monday:

Moon Age Day 17; Moon Sign Virgo

“You have what it takes to get more or less what you want today, particularly if Lady Luck is on your side. This might incline you to take chances that weren’t possible even a few days ago, and to make a clear display of your enthusiasm for new projects. Once again, if you need to ask for assistance there’s no time like the present.”

Sunday:

Moon Age Day 16; Moon Sign Virgo

“A pioneering and enterprising mood is the order of the day as the lunar high arrives. There are new directions available, and the chance to seek assistance from other people if you need it. Constant attention to detail may not be necessary today because it’s the overall picture that counts. Don’t be too busy to simply have a good time.”

Those with earthy Moons react in a very grounded, matter-of-fact way. The reaction may be so self-contained in those with Taurus or Capricorn Moon, in fact, that others may wonder if there has been any reaction. Those with Virgo Moon, on the other hand, react rather quickly, mentally, and sometimes nervously to any stimulus in a way obvious to everyone, even if the person is trying to contain his or her emotional reaction. Just like the earth itself, those with an Earth Moon have a crust over their emotional reactions; and they prefer to present a certain form to the public rather than to reveal their vulnerabilities.

taurus moon

The Moon is extraordinarily happy in the comfortable, stable sign of Taurus, for the emotions are steady and the person has little self-doubt. Those with the Moon in Taurus are not easily perturbed, even by powerful attacks or shocking events that would strongly affect others. They are in fact amazingly resilient, bouncing back from any defeat, disappointment, or trauma. Perfect examples are politicians Bill Clinton and Joe Biden, and celebrities Demi Lovato and Lindsay Lohan; who, despite unmerciful attacks, still manage to have their shit together and maintain at least some degree of popularity.

The poise with which Taurus Moon people face life’s demands and unpredictability is remarkable, and they therefore have a steadying influence on others, who appreciatively value their reliability. Note that I said “reliability,” not necessarily readiness! This sign is known for being the slowest in the zodiac, moving actively only when they are good and ready and insisting on their own pace in everything they do in life. Their inner contentment and resistance to change can thus make them frustrating to deal with if their considerable stubbornness causes them to dig in their heels to resist what you want. The other side of the coin is their remarkable persistence when they are focused on attaining a certain goal.

Those with Taurus Moon are attuned to the rhythms of nature and the earth, and this gives them their particular pace of life and much of their strength. They are notably physical and sensual, and have a great need for the “pleasures of life.” And they insist on taking the time to enjoy them. This unique attunement leads to a trust in earthly life that enables them to accept others with few demands and to take life as it comes. They are pleased with life (generally) and rather pleased with themselves. This can of course result in smugness, conceited self-satisfaction, and self-indulgent laziness. As Grant Lewi wrote, the key to improving oneself for Taurus Moon is to “turn self-satisfaction into active self-confidence”.

Emotionally, those with this Moon sign are not at all cold, but neither do they readily reveal their feelings. They are good listeners and are usually warmly responsive and solidly supportive, but not gushingly effusive. They really prefer not to allow anything to affect them. Some comments from questionnaire responses add additional perspectives to this lunar type:

1. “Seems very positive, giving men good relationships with women. It also appears to give talent in crafts such as cooking and other home arts.”

2. “ … sensual, heightened sense of material/physical aesthetics (e.g., clothing, home, colors, etc.), wonderful sense of humor, stubborn, and sometimes impervious to what’s going on beneath the surface of things.”

People with the Moon in Taurus like to be touched, especially to be hugged. Also, I’ve noticed a certain resistance to change. This resistance ranges (in different people) between a reluctance to accept the moods of another and a reluctance to allow any out-of-the-ordinary spontaneity to enter their life (usually hate surprises).

virgo moon

Those with Virgo Moon need a sense of order in their own minds and in the environment to feel comfortable and secure. This leads to their instinctive analytical reaction to all life experience, sorting their perceptions and thoughts into categories and discriminating between them according to their personal principles or prejudices. This need for order also motivates their obsession with neatness and cleanliness. They likewise feel more secure by making definite improvements in their environment, in their scientific, artistic, or intellectual pursuits, or—something not always appreciated with this sign—in other people. In fact, as one woman wrote in a questionnaire, “Sometimes they can be busybodies, putting others’ lives in order with advice—usually not so tactful. They’re so busy organizing friends’ lives that they forget about their own”. This “workaholic” tendency can also manifest as a broad range of criticism from afar directed even at total strangers who, evidently, just don’t measure up to the Virgo level of perfection.

Being helpful makes them feel better about themselves and aids them in overcoming their habitual self-doubt and sense of personal imperfection. In fact, “perfectionism” is a keyword for Virgo, and their unavoidable awareness of their own imperfections leads often to excessive self-consciousness, sometimes of a type so severe as to render them unable to use their genuine gifts with any confidence. Their tendency to notice the imperfections of others, and to voice those observations far too often, frequently makes the other person feel uncomfortably and unproductively self-conscious. Those with Virgo Moon would do better to heed their deep need to serve and to help others or improve things in the outer world. By doing so, they can eventually gain a sense of having improved themselves—at least in the modest way they will allow themselves to acknowledge. Virgo is the most modest sign in the zodiac—one of the few, in fact. Virgo Moon people can seem shy and reserved.

Habitually nervous types with a tendency to worry, Virgo Moon people often find their personal tranquility and self-validation in work and compulsive “busyness.” Work also provides an escape from the unpleasant emotions or depressing feelings of guilt or worthlessness that so often afflict those with this Moon position. But, because emotions interfere with productivity, as Donna Cunningham points out in Moon Signs, they are conveniently put aside or suppressed in the routine of daily life. Hence, Virgo Moons are among the few people who love all kinds of petty, boring activities — even housework. A friend with this placement even admitted to dreaming about being a mother/grandmother, so she could do chores and serve her family all day (of course, she’s also a Cancer Rising).

Doubt and skepticism pervade their mode of thinking and reacting, and of course there is always something to criticize in any person, place, thing, or concept. The infinitely small is always available as a target! This constant mental tension and the sensitivity of their nervous system, and their hyper-attunement to hygiene and purity, make these folks fascinated by and eager for involvement in the areas of nutrition, biological sciences, natural therapies, the healing arts, and/or the medical professions. This natural affinity also, however, bends them toward hypochondria, at its worst, or at least to a sensitive digestive and/or intestinal system. The quality of the food they eat is of utmost importance, since it directly affects their nerves and mental state, not just their digestion.

Their talent for detailed work is without equal (except for those with certain other planets in Virgo), and they often get great satisfaction from employing their natural craftsmanship in the practical or fine arts. Because their mind can always find something wrong with any idea or plan, indecision often afflicts those with this Moon placement. Moral indecision as well is often observed, as their perfectionist and puritanical tendencies battle with their more practical or sensual needs.

capricorn moon

Those with Capricorn Moon, as is also the case when other major planets or the Ascendant are in Capricorn, seem unnaturally old and serious when they are young, but they can lighten up as they grow older. In their youth, they are unusually capable, disciplined, and conservative, taking the well-trodden path to their goals of worldly achievement or to follow a vocation. Their real confidence is late-blooming, as their sense of inner security develops over time and they feel that their age at least, if not their accomplishments, has earned them some respect they have always craved. Capricorn Moon people eventually learn to relax somewhat and to trust life and other people to a greater extent. The aura of melancholy that those with Capricorn attunement so often carry around with them can also slowly dissipate over time, sometimes helped by a more and more adventurous—but dry—sense of humor.

The fluctuating, responsive, emotional Moon is not at all naturally comfortable in a sign that is often rigid and distant, and prides itself on not revealing any sign of vulnerability or personal need. People with Capricorn Moon have instinctive reactions to life that are characterized by self-control and caution, and sometimes by a defensiveness or negativity that is almost shocking. They feel that they need to manipulate and control the world (and their feelings) in order to attain the power, authority, and recognition that they deeply desire. In fact, they are most secure within themselves when their identity is confirmed by a social role, title, specific duty, or mantle of authority. Even at an early age, Capricorn Moon people are comfortable assuming responsibility and feel perfectly at home in the role of provider, protector, or organizer. They are most relaxed and truly themselves when they are carrying some weight, or when others have to depend on them! Very hardworking, these folks share with Virgo first place on the list of people who absolutely love to work, which often ultimately results in professional success. They may not always be fun, but they will often get the job done.

Perhaps the most oppressive thing about this group occurs in those who become too obsessed with being recognized as important and having authority; sometimes, there is a persistent “one-upmanship” that pervades their personal and professional lives. The constant drive to be “on top” can cripple their capacity for any human intimacy and eliciting automatic distrust from others. As psychologist-astrologer Glenn Perry, Ph.D., wrote,

“The tight controlled responses often lead to loneliness and despair as it prevents the individual from flowing and responding to the changing mood of others. Moon in Capricorn nurtures by taking charge and giving orders. This dry mechanical approach to feelings is not sympathetic and tends to imply that the other is incompetent. Unable to respond directly to emotional needs, Moon in Capricorn gives the impression of being callous, hardened and unaffected by the tender side of life. (Aspects magazine, Fall 1981)”

If the emotional suppression and denial become chronically extreme and rigid, the result can be a person who others may respect but not love. However, from another view (from the inside, so to speak) of this Moon sign’s emotional nature, I quote here from an interview with a Capricorn Moon young woman who characterized herself to me as having “a seriousness about the emotional life, an interest in getting down to bare bones, an impatience with small talk, and a need to get to the core emotionally.” She continues:

“All Capricorn Moons I know (there have been a lot) have a certain gravity to them, an ability to take the emotional life seriously. The women especially are almost never giggly or flirty — we’re too serious to flirt much. The women are kind of ‘masculine’ I guess, sort of businesslike in their manner (men too actually… it’s not a placement I ever see that is friends with everyone and instantly, openly affectionate). I think ‘a few serious, long-term friendships’ sums up all the Capricorn Moons I know.”

A questionnaire reply from another woman also emphasized that women with this capable, ambitious orientation are liable to feel “ambivalent about their sexual identity,” although they have strong physical needs, and that women with Capricorn Moon have “a great need for appreciation to develop their self-worth”. Two other questionnaires confirmed the self-disclosure quoted above regarding the practical agenda underlying emotional commitments. The words they used were “cool in affections and looks out for self” and “very calculating—not necessarily bad—just a lot of planning, no spur-of-the-moment reactions.” Another quite thorough questionnaire reply from an experienced practitioner of astrology included the following:

“this Moon placement shows marked proficiency in handling the self in the material world, or at least a lot of concern over and attunement to material affairs. They are very shrewd in taking care of their financial needs. Very often they are involved in some secure structure, like working for the government, etc. They like a secure financial position. For all, they take things very seriously; they approach many things cautiously. This is also a very sexual placement in laid-back ways.”

In conclusion, the Capricorn demeanor of slowness, caution, and hesitation should never mislead you. They may be conservative in most attitudes, but they are actually very progressive and results-oriented in action. They just don’t like to make mistakes.

THE MOON IN THE SIGNS

The sign position of the Moon reveals much about our habits, reactions, and instincts. It shows how we express, and deal with, our emotions. Most obvious in our homes or in private, our Moon sign reveals our innermost needs. Many astrologers feel that the Moon represents our experience of mothering; it also shows how we “mother” or “baby” ourselves!

♈︎ ♈︎

Nothing quite happens soon enough with this position of the Moon. There is an inherent impatience with getting what they want. Life is a series of emergencies for Lunar Ariens. They live in the moment and have a hard time waiting for things to happen. Whims of the moment take absolute precedence in their lives.

This is a fiery position of the moon. Even if the Sun or rising sign is more low-key, Moon in Aries people possess inner passion and fire. Emotional issues take precedence–there is simply no pussy-footing around when it comes to dealing with the feelings. And, dealing with new sentiments and needs stirs up a huge desire for activity. Moon in Aries has a need for acting out their needs, with no time to waste. It is hard for them to see the long-term, or to wait for things to happen. Instant gratification rules!

Oddly enough, this is a very defensive position of the Moon. These natives take things very personally, and they deal with problems by facing them right away so that they can then get on with other things. Their flare-ups generally end almost as quickly as they started.

Lunar Ariens have an unmistakable independent streak. They put themselves right out there in the world, and make an impression in whatever they do. Their self-confidence is actually variable. Although a strong personality is projected, Moon in Aries people go through plenty of ups and downs. Their moodiness is not like Cancer or Pisces moodiness–they don’t withdraw into themselves or escape the world when they’re down. Instead, they are temperamental.

Some might say that people with Moon in Aries actually enjoy trouble and confrontations. Indeed, this position is easily bored with environments that are too peaceful. Their homes–especially their childhood homes–are often battlegrounds. They rule the roost, or at least want to, and are not the most peaceful of folk to live with!

Moon in Aries men and women are prone to have plenty of crushes and other short-lived yet intense desires. “Needs” and “wants” are indistinguishable to Lunar Ariens at any given time. In their minds, what they want is so powerful that it becomes an absolute need. In young adulthood, they can be dangerous with a credit card. Whoever offered the advice to freeze your credit card in a container of water, and then let the block of ice thaw before using the card, unwittingly had people with Moon in Aries in mind. The whole idea was to see if the shopping whim of the moment would pass by the time the card was ready to use. Still, with this scenario, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Moon in Aries hacking away at the ice. That is, if Aries actually takes the advice in the first place!

Others will appreciate that people with Moon in Aries rarely sulk or play any drawn-out games of manipulation. You can pretty much know what they want at any given time. They are generally ruled by their own emotional needs, and they’re not always as concerned about others’ needs during these “emergencies”. Somehow, they have people around them scrambling to help them solve their problems. There’s an aura of childlike innocence around Lunar Ariens, even when they’re getting their way again, that can be charming indeed!

♉︎ ♉︎

Familiarity is important to Lunar Taureans. These people are earthy and strong-willed. They feel with their senses and they are pretty much rooted in their ways. They revel in material comforts–in fact, building a solid and comfortable home and foundation helps to keep them feeling safe and content.

It isn’t wise to try to push Lunar Taureans into doing anything, but once they have made a commitment, they’re persevering.

There’s a steadiness to this position of the Moon that is comforting to those close to them. But the conservative streak in these natives can be maddening to more progressive personalities. They tend to go out of their way to avoid “messy” or unpredictable situations, crises, and emotional displays. Instead, they focus on creating a reliable and secure life around them. In relationships, Lunar Taureans may not easily recognize their partner’s need for change, growth, or emotional stimulation.

Moon in Taurus natives are generally very romantic. Their affections are strong, deep, and unwavering. They are sentimental and warm. Since Taurus is a practical earth sign, the placement of the Moon in this sign suggests an ability to protect themselves and their own interests. They will rarely make a move without first determining that it is safe and that there’s something in it for them.

Generally, Taurus Moon people have reliable instincts. They are very much tied to the physical world, and they often have a particularly well-developed sense of smell.

Relationships with people born with this position of the Moon are often quite enduring. Many Moon in Taurus people hang onto their mates, even in the face of serious conflict. Taurus is a fixed sign, so break-ups don’t happen easily.

There is a serenity to them that is calming. In fact, it takes a lot to really get to them. However, they do get off-center every once in a while. They are not the most adaptable people when their own routine is interrupted, for example.

Though some Lunar Taureans might be considered anal, most simply have a stubborn streak that keeps them rather resistant to change. Rarely are they spontaneous sorts. Uncomfortable with surprises, these natives value stability. Their needs are strong but quite simple at the same time–they love the “good things” in life. The world of the five senses is all-important to these natives. Their love of stability and steadiness can make them slaves to routine. However, they are loyal and capable people.

♊︎ ♊︎

Lunar Geminis are usually pleasant, witty, and charming people. At home and with family, however, they can be moody and irritable at times. People with Moon in Gemini are always interesting people–they have a finger in every pie, are curious to a fault, and are generally well-informed.

Nervousness and worry are common traits with this lunar position. An underlying restlessness is common, and many Lunar Geminis need more stimulation than others. They usually read a lot, talk a lot, and think a lot with this airy, mutable position of the Moon.

Their homes are often a perpetual work-in-progress. They generally dislike housework, but are big on home improvement. Re-organizing their homes in little–and sometimes big–ways seems to keep them happy, as Lunar Geminis are easily bored by both routine and constancy. Often, this is a reflection of their inner world–“the grass is always greener…” applies here. Inwardly, Lunar Geminis are often unsettled. Moon in Gemini parents are generally more adept at handling the intellectual needs of their children than emotional ones. Others’ complicated emotions, in general, can be difficult for Lunar Geminis to handle.

In their families, Lunar Geminis often take on the role of organizing get-togethers. They are at their best when they have plenty of things to do beyond routine.

Moon in Gemini people almost always have a way with words. They are clever and witty, and more often than not can be found chatting with others. They are sociable and friendly, and feel comfortable in crowds. Some pay too much attention to what everyone else is doing, and lose touch with what they really want to do. Generally, Lunar Geminis have a million and one projects going. They are impressionable folk, and their imagination is boundless.

Their openness to new ideas is admirable, although decisiveness and persistence take a blow as a result. Still, versatility and adaptability are some of the stronger traits of this position of the Moon.

When irritable, these people can easily become snappy. Their moodiness is complicated–this is not the same kind of moodiness you’ll find with water sign moons, for example. Usually, difficult behavior stems from inner restlessness. Lunar Geminis want to do it all, and have trouble sticking to any one project.

When problems arise, the first instinct of Moon in Gemini natives is to talk things out. Their tendency to analyze can give them the appearance of emotional detachment. In fact, Lunar Geminis may be especially comfortable talking about their feelings, but feeling their own feelings doesn’t come as easily. Those that don’t take time out to really emote and understand their own needs may end up baffling others. Feeling misunderstood is common for Moon in Gemini natives. The only real solution to the problem is learning to get in touch with their ownfeelings.

♋︎ ♋︎

This is the most subjective position of the Moon. The Moon is “at home” in the sign of Cancer, as the Moon is the natural ruler of the sign.

Moon in Cancer natives have a large potential to be able to get in touch with the feelings and moods of others. Often, they are quite wrapped up in themselves. Their memories of the past are outstanding, especially for all things emotional. Moon in Cancer people are never detached — they cling to things, their home, and people they care for. They seek out security and familiarity in all they do. They look for peace and quiet. Their attachment to all that is safe means they are a little leery of change.

These peace-loving souls dislike superficiality in all of its forms. They are devoted and accommodating. The insecure ones accumulate things in an attempt to feel secure.

Because of their strong attachment to, and memory of, the past, others may complain that Moon in Cancer natives tend to whip a dead horse. They may dwell on hurts long after everyone else has moved on. When they feel they have been taken for granted (which may be often!), they don’t always confront others directly. This is when they can use roundabout ways to get your attention. In fact, these natives, when they are insecure, can become quite manipulative. They can also be victims of habit.

These people can have a hard time compartmentalizing their lives, simply because their watery Moon tends to know no boundaries. Sometimes, as a result, they may act irrationally.

One of the most delightful characteristics of Moon in Cancer people is their loony sense of humor. These people can be extraordinarily funny. Their moodiness can baffle others, but their unique outlook on life is something most people can appreciate.

When treated with tenderness and understanding, Moon in Cancer natives return the favor with warmth and protection. Give them security, and you’ll take the crabbiness out of the Crab, at least for awhile.

These people are wonderfully dependable overall, despite their occasional mood swings. Make a friend of Moon in Cancer, and you will be taken care of for life.

♌︎ ♌︎

Depending on other positions in the chart, Moon in Leo people are not necessarily outgoing. When they feel comfortable, they do like being the center of attention. That is, they like being in the “spotlight” in the comfort of their own homes and with family and friends. They enjoy entertaining others, and often take on the role of comic.

Lunar Leos often feel a need to organize, and even control, their families and friends. They have an inner mission to set things right, and generally like to oversee the goings-on in their little circle.

This is a rather creative position of the Moon. At the very least, Moon in Leo people wantto create and entertain. They can be rather lazy at times, and a little bossy too. Generally, though, they have a deep need to treat others fairly and justly.

Lunar Leos require lots and lots of love and care in order to function well in the world. When they feel slighted, these people can be dramatic in their emotional displays. When their pride has been hurt, they are given to big scenes and sulking. This rarely happens in public, however. Lunar Leos are far too concerned about their image to make splashy scenes outside the comfort of their own homes. In public, they prefer to take things in dignified ways. At home, however, they’re given to big displays of emotional drama. These scenes generally don’t last too long, however. Lunar Leos are often personally popular folk who are valued for their integrity and strong sense of justice.

Moon in Leo folk are very proud, and they are rarely happy to follow orders. Leo is a Fixed sign, and it can be difficult to change a Lunar Lion’s mind or to change up plans on them at the last moment. They need time to adjust to schedule changes.

Generally, it is easy to reason with a Lunar Lion. Appealing to their well-developed sense of fairness usually works well.

♍︎ ♍︎

Lunar Virgos find security in the little things in life. They feel most content when they’ve straightened out all the details of everyday life. Many of them enjoy running errands, paying bills, and balancing the books. They take care of these things happily, although some won’t let on. In fact, many Lunar Virgos are quite practiced at nagging and complaining. As long as they are appreciated, however, these people will help you take care of your life, too. They are at their best when they feel useful and needed. If somebody needs help, they are generally the first to jump up and take on the task.

Some people with Virgo Moons are accused of being underachievers. While it may be true that Lunar Virgos can lack self-confidence, many are–quite simply–content with living “regular”, unassuming lives. They appreciate simplicity, and are often most comfortable when they’re not getting too much attention from the world at large. Lunar Virgos are easily overwhelmed by pressure and stress. They worry incessantly when there is too much to think about; and, they know their limits.

Arguably the worst position for a Lunar Virgo is without a steady routine or a simply satisfying job. They need to feel useful, and they best express this by helping others in little ways. They need something to call their own, and the space to do what they want to do.

The unhappy Lunar Virgos are fussy and complaining sorts. They are victims of routine and freak out when their plans are not followed. They are restless and nervous, and can’t seem to see the big picture. Probably the best remedy for these people is a job or hobby in which they can express their deep need to analyze, attend to details, and micromanage.

These people express their affection for the people they care about in little, but practical, ways. They can be a little stiff when it comes to open, gushy displays of affection. Lunar Virgos are often shy with new people. However, when they are comfortable, they are anything but shy.

More often than not, others can count on Moon in Virgo people. They are reliable and trustworthy. Above all else, Lunar Virgos are practical. Others turn to them for help and advice.

In relationships, Lunar Virgos can be self-effacing and kind. Some are quite shy in love, and easily intimidated on a sexual level. Many are not very comfortable with their sexuality, but they aim to please nonetheless. The sign of Virgo is very body-aware, in general. If this awareness combines with a lack of self-confidence, Lunar Virgos can be too aware of the parts that make up the whole. This can lead to a tendency to be intensely self-critical. Once Lunar Virgos learn to come out of their shell, however, they can be earthy partners with a lot to give.

Some of the most skeptical people are Lunar Virgos. They can’t help but poke holes when faced with others’ blind faith. Their criticism can be maddening, and their insistence on seeing the practical in anything emotional can be challenging, especially if you are the dreamy type.

Virgo curiosity shows up big time with this position of the Moon. To some, it can be confusing. Lunar Virgos seem very interested in others’ problems, for example, but can be quite cool and even unsympathetic in the long run. Their advice can seem hard to more sensitive folk, yet Lunar Virgos can be surprisingly delicate when faced with others’ criticism.

Virgo Moon people are generally busy and quietly happy when they have their lives under control. They aim for a simple existence, and are often quite content with very little. Many are early risers, ready to take on the day with enthusiasm. They scurry around, keeping busy and managing their life quietly and expertly. As long as their little world is manageable, Lunar Virgos can be a delight to be around.

♎︎ ♎︎

Moon in Libra people have a strong need for partnership. Without someone to share their lives with, they feel utterly incomplete. This is why many people with this position get involved in marriages or living-together arrangements quite young.Because this drive for harmony, peace, and sharing is so powerful, Lunar Librans are apt to do a lot of conceding. They are sympathetic and concerned for others, enjoy socializing, and revel in a good debate. Mental rapport with others is especially important to them.

Lunar Librans feel safe and secure when they are in a partnership. These are the people who seem to always need to have someone tag along with them wherever they go—even if it is to the corner store. They find strength and reinforcement in and through others.

Both men and women with this position are often quite charming. They can be very attractive to be around, and are often given to flirtatiousness. Rarely directly aggressive, these people win your heart with their gentle and refined ways.

Moon in Libra natives simply can’t help but see flaws in their environment and their relationships. In fact, anything out of whack will bother them until it’s fixed. Although diplomatic with acquaintances, when Moon in Libra natives argue with their long-standing partners, they rarely let up until they win. And, winning an argument is a Libran specialty—in fact, they may not even believe what they are saying, but will adopt all kinds of ideas just to get the last word. Living with Lunar Librans can sometimes feel like you are on trial, and Libra is the expert lawyer. Sometimes, though, Libra is defending you and supporting your point of view.

Lunar Librans’ idealistic outlook and constant striving for the best, most harmonious lifestyle can lead to much discontent. Looking for that one (elusive) perfect way to lead their lives can detract from enjoyment of the moment.

♏︎ ♏︎

While others may find security and comfort in material things, Moon in Scorpio people seek out emotional intensity. No matter what, there is something very intense about Lunar Scorpios. They are diggers when it comes to the world of emotion—they can see beyond facades and cut right to the core of a person. This ability to “see” what isn’t obvious to the rest of the world can be intimidating to others or wildly attractive, depending on the audience.Their deep-seated need for transformation and rebirth can manifest itself in the lives of Lunar Scorpios in different ways. Most have powerful, emotionally intense lives. Some feel like it is beyond their control—these natives seem to attract emotional upheaval, and their lives appear to consist of plenty of dramatic ups and downs. However, when accepted as an emotional need, rebirth and change doesn’t need to be so dramatic and overwhelming. In some way or the other, Moon in Scorpio natives seek out intense experiences. If their lives are regular in any way, there can be an unconscious need to test their own strength and stir up emotional excitement. Self-awareness and acceptance is probably the best way to handle this deep need for emotional drama.

Doing things halfway or having meaningless relationships simply doesn’t fulfill them. Lunar Scorpios want all or nothing.

Moon in Scorpio people often have a strong fear of betrayal. They seek out commitment, and feel the need for a partner to give up something for them. Some will put the people they love through a series of tests, and these are not always conscious. Their apparent suspicion can be trying for the people who love them. However, once committed, Moon in Scorpio people can be the most loyal and protective partners around.

Even the shy ones have enormous presence. Their lives are emotion-driven, yet many Moon in Scorpio natives spend a lot of time controlling and mastering their emotions. Their intuition is enormous, although it is sometimes self-serving.

Moon in Scorpio people radiate strength. Even in the absence of experience, they seem to “just know” things. It would be difficult to shock or scare away Lunar Scorpios in the face of emotional honesty and power. Some people instinctively want to lean on them, and other less brave folk run a little scared. Lunar Scorpios have exceptional “radar” that allows them to size up a situation—and a person—quickly and expertly. This ability to understand human motivation and nature can be too close for comfort for some, and enormously comforting for others.

Many Lunar Scorpios are intelligent and astute. Those that use their enormous powers for intimacy and honesty are the happiest, and they make the most interesting and rewarding friends and lovers.

♐︎ ♐︎

More than anything, Lunar Sagittarians have a need for personal freedom and space. They are extraordinarily happy and easygoing folk, as long as they don’t feel caged in or cooped up.

Lunar Sagittarians have a simultaneous need for activity. Meeting new people, going out in the world, and travel are all important to their sense of well-being. They love open spaces, and, in their homes, a roomy and bright environment.

There’s a bit of a teacher in Moon in Sagittarius, and definitely a helpful spirit. They easily forget appointments and the like, and some are even considered irresponsible. However, it is hard to stay angry at a Lunar Sagittarian! They are extraordinarily cheerful and upbeat, and their optimism is catchy.

Many people with this position are outdoorsy types. At the very least, they have a great love for changes of scenery and some disdain for the regular routine. They also enjoy friendly competition.

When the going gets tough, these people run away. They don’t like to be caught up in routine for too long, and they simply need to escape. They’ll be back when they feel refreshed and when their spirits are renewed!

There’s a blind faith in Lunar Sagittarians that is admirable. They simply believe that everything will work out. Not much for making detailed plans, people with Moon in Sagittarius prefer to wing it. This can, at times, be disconcerting to those who are not as free-spirited and who’d prefer a bit of a head’s up. Moon in Sagittarius people are very adaptable and generally on the go. They are also hungry for knowledge, new experiences, and mind-expanding ideas. They are great lovers of the truth, and they make wonderful, inpsiring teachers.

Being useful and productive are basic needs for Lunar Capricorns. Because they generally keep their emotions under check, Moon in Capricorn people come across as competent people.

However turbulent their emotions may be under the surface, Lunar Capricorns keep cool-headed—and they come across as steady and reliable people.

This position of the Moon suggests a desire for clear boundaries and realistic goals. Not much for taking risks in life, Lunar Capricorns look for safety and security in most everything they do. Most of them respect authority and tradition, and many are planning well ahead of the rest of us. You likely won’t have to remind them to protect their interests, plan for old age, or keep fall-back money in their bank accounts. These things come naturally to them.

Calm, cool, and collected—these words sum up Moon in Capricorn natives well. Messy emotions and “leaky” souls are a bit frightening for most with this position of the Moon. Truth is, they can have plenty of mood swings and some dark emotions now and again. Lunar Capricorns are often quite hard on themselves, and would benefit from letting their guard down once in a while. They quickly garner reputations of being mountains of strength, and they easily hide their sensitivity behind a sarcastic manner.

You may have read that Moon in Capricorn natives are a bit cold and calculating. The fact is, they are unlikely to be any less emotional than the other 11 sign positions of the Moon—they simply aren’t comfortable “letting go” when it comes to emotions. They keep their emotions under control. Wherever Capricorn is found in the chart, there is a desire for structure and control. Capricorn is the sign of organization and efficient management; so, when the Moon is found in the sign, the world of emotions are well-managed and handled in an efficient and practical manner.

At the heart of Lunar Capricorns is a powerful need to feel worthwhile in the real world. There’s a basic need for respectability and a big attachment to the world of the senses. Lunar Capricorns put a lot of value in all things tangible and real. And, perhaps more than anything, they need to be respected by others in order to feel secure.

♒︎ ♒︎

Moon in Aquarius people are extremely observant. They are lifetime students of human nature, loving to analyze why people do what they do. This often stems from a detached–even shy–personality, especially in youth. Whether due to character or conditioning, Moon in Aquarius people often grow up feeling “different”. Although rather sociable, they are often loners at heart. Many have strong egos, or at least powerful defense mechanisms, and most Lunar Aquarians will do their best to be the most unique and unusual person they can be. Their inner feeling of loneliness —that they don’t quite fit in— puts them on the outside, looking in.

There is a very idealistic and progressive streak in Lunar Aquarians that is admirable indeed. However, when the Moon is in Aquarius, natives often will deny the more irrational qualities of emotions—such as jealousy, possessiveness, and fear—in an effort to be “above” what they consider “pettiness”. When this goes too far, Lunar Aquarians can be emotionally blocked, distant, and detached.

Lunar Aquarians can be very willful, especially in childhood. With age, these natives generally learn to handle their strong needs. Their desire for independence is powerful indeed, no matter what their age. With a quiet Sun and/or Ascendant, their desire to “shock” others is not always apparent until a relationship becomes comfortable. They are generally proud of their family members, boasting just how unique they are. When their families are ultra-conservative, the boast will be that they rebelled against all of that!

Although given to temper tantrums and willful behavior in youth, Moon in Aquarius people often grow up feeling that messy emotions are unappealing. They often pride themselves for being cool-headed, detached, and “above” what they consider the baser emotions. In the process, they can end up alienating others—and themselves. Although Lunar Aquarians can be especially adept at understanding others’ behavior and motivations, they can lose touch with their own—simply because they have identified too strongly with what they aspire to be (and these aspirations are often super-human).

The Aquarian tendency to be humanitarian shows up powerfully in Moon in Aquarius. However, their kindness and concern for others is generally more a broad philosophy of life. With people close to them, Moon in Aquarius natives can seemingly lack compassion, as they often fully expect others to be as independent and detached as they are! In close, personal relationships, however, Lunar Aquarians generally give others a lot of personal freedom, and they will tolerate and enjoy all kinds of idiosyncrasies in people around them.

Moon in Aquarius people are rarely flighty people, but they can be unreliable when it concerns the little things in life. Often, this is simply an assertion of their independence. In the long haul, however, they are rather constant, as Aquarius is a fixed sign. As long as they have their own space and the freedom to be themselves, however kooky that may be, they are trustworthy and loyal.

Lunar Aquarians generally make wonderful friends. They’ll make a point of leaving nobody on the outside. Many will fight for other’s rights and crusade for equality.

What may be surprising is that Moon in Aquarius people have a lot of pride. In fact, when they’ve been attacked in any way (especially regarding their character), they can become very inflexible and cool. It can be difficult to know just how sensitive to criticism Lunar Aquarians are, simply because they hide it so well! When their character or behavior has been criticized, they tend to dig in their heels and keep right on doing it. They fully expect others to accept them exactly as they are, or they don’t have much use for them in their lives.

These sometimes maddeningly unpredictable people are nevertheless quite charming. They have an unmistakable stubborn streak, but when left to be themselves, they make unusual and endlessly interesting people to be around. Life just wouldn’t be the same without Lunar Aquarians’ unusual spin on the world and the people in it!

♓︎ ♓︎

Lunar Pisceans are known to be dreamy and not always in touch with reality. However, though these people may not always show real-world savvy in day-to-day, practical affairs, they make up for this with remarkable intuition. They can put themselves in anybody’s shoes with extreme ease. On the plus side, this endows them with remarkable compassion and love. The down side with this apparent ability to break down boundaries is that these people can easily lose themselves in the suffering of others.

Their sense of humor is delightfully silly and a bit odd. These are perceptive souls who seem to be in touch with all the nuances and subtleties of human nature. Often this comes through in a strong sense of humor that is more of the receptive kind than the type of sense of humor that would make people the “life of the party”. It’s generally pretty easy to get them giggling.

Moon in Pisces people may get tagged as “spaced out”, but there’s a lot more to them than meets the eye. They feel things out, and rely on their intuition. It just doesn’t feelright for them to do otherwise. Their dreaminess can mean plenty of moments of absent-mindedness. These times of oblivion can land them in all sorts of predicaments with others who can too easily misunderstand these complex souls. Without plenty of space and time to daydream, Pisces Moons easily get overloaded with life. Give them room to be alone with themselves, and they’re generally able to take on the world—even if their style when they do so is not always conventional or understandable.

Generally considered soft-hearted and sweet, Lunar Pisceans care about others and are easily touched by human suffering. This tendency gains them the reputation as suckers for sob stories. Although this may sometimes be true, many Lunar Pisceans learn, in their lifetimes, how to discern between sincerity and manipulation. Still, they definitely do have plenty of soft corners.

There’s a delightful accepting side to Moon in Pisces that is sometimes mistaken for weakness. Pisces is the twelfth and last sign of the zodiac, and thus carries with it a little of each sign of the zodiac. As a result, they see themselves reflected in the behavior of others, giving them seemingly boundless compassion. Since the Moon represents our instinctive nature, Moon in Pisces seems to know how things feel without actual experience. For example, they may have never had sex, but seem to know all about it — even, or especially, the subtleties of it. The ones that aren’t too shy make awesome actors and actresses. This ability to empathize even in the absence of experience gives them an open mind and heart. Most long to express this through writing, music (both listening and making), poetry, and art —in fact, the happiest people with this position do just that.

Though some are doormats, most Pisces Moon people instinctively know when they’re due for a much-needed recharge. It’s at these times that they retreat from the world (and its harsh realities) if only to gather strength to face everything and everyone again. Solitude is important to them, but they also need people, so their retreats will usually be short-lived. Pisces Moon individuals believe; and, let’s face it, the world needs Piscean leaps of faith.

Natal Moon in Virgo - Emotional Scheduling

Natal Moon in Virgo individuals emanate a cautious consideration and practicality. Generous resources are poured into duties of organization and exploring the potential variable in every situation. These individuals possess a sparkling mental acuity that retains its crystallized composure under the threat of disorder, and portray a natural levelheadedness that urges others to rely on them. Even in the midst of emotional frays, their acute common sense is the intrinsic reflex used to navigate situations that inflame their inner world. Lunar Virgos blend the empathetic resolve of the Moon with the transcendental healing energies of Virgo and make naturals in all health and service related fields.

Moon in Virgo people possess material thought streams and prefer to confront problems immediately rather than let issues restlessly simmer. These individuals are ravenous in search for knowledge that can be applied in practical form and delight in  conversation once emotional ties have been built. For Lunar Virgos the sentiment of communication provides a great remedy for anxiety. Much of their nervous energy will directed into organization, de-cluttering and attempting to refine the external world in hope the internal sparkles in reflection. During times of emotional upheaval they may regress into primitive behaviors such as foot tapping or hair twirling, and find it difficult to remain still in high pressure situations. Lunar Virgos may experience intense difficulty negotiating emotions and prefer to work most sentiment through a logical framework. During times of distress, it is a reflex for these personalities to withdraw into their own bubble and eschew the support of others. Virgo’s placement here is associated with rampant intellectualization, self contemptuous behavior and digestive upsets during difficulties.

Lunar Virgos make a rapid critical assessment of their environment seep beyond the surface into the underlying mechanics of functioning. These individuals are at victim to a harsh inner critique and inflamed eyes that immediately distinguish the surrounding flaws. Environments of disorder are likely to trigger their anxieties and restlessness, and it can be impossible for them to relax with a door left partway open or mess scattered about. They can be fierce defenders of their imaginative worries and spend a lot of time in preparation. Lunar Virgo’s are intrinsically nurturing people who feel emotionally compelled to offer service, mostly in the practical form. Where the the Sun in Virgo keeps the room in order, the Moon in Virgo straightens out the knotted emotional ripples.

I used to not be a huge fan of pre-made interpretations, but I remember when I first started studying astrology how helpful they really were in getting me to where I am now. So, that being said, here we go.

*If you resonate with this post (or if you do not), please drop a comment and/or share. Feedback is always helpful! Plus, it’s always fun to hear what people who HAVE a certain placement have to say about their experience with it.*

What is the moon? It represents our intuition, of course. How we see the unseen, how we feel what we can’t directly view. Each sign has its own way of doing that.

Moon in Aries: This placement tends to see things as they are. In fact, of all the moon signs, they’re the least likely to assume or read into anything. This is a double edged sword, as they read into something, but they are also extremely likely to miss something “between the lines” in another person’s actions. They also have a tendency to assume that everyone is as direct as they are, and can become frustrated by the roundabout other moon placements go about things. Their simplicity, however, allows them be firm in their opinions and devote less time to forming them and more time to acting on them. Sometimes Aries moons are inaccurately judged as mean or trying to be hurtful when they are simply unaware something was expected of them. This sign is almost never devious, and when they are upset, they are well aware and will make sure you are as well.

Moon in Taurus: This placement tend to decide very quickly whether or not they like something. It takes quite a bit to get them to change their mind, since their instincts are going to insist that they stand their ground. Even when they do change their minds, Taurus moons can be prone to harboring a lingering sense of their original judgement call. This rootedness in their opinion, however, makes them much more difficult to deceive, as they don’t forget their original perception of how something was once they see it.

Moon in Gemini: This placement tends to be the hardest for other moons to pin down. Gemini is possibly the most versatile placement for the moon, as someone with this placement can feel one way one moment, and then completely different later on. This emotional range can cause them to be prone to a bit of an identity crisis, as they easily identify with very different groups of people. As quickly as they arrived at an opinion, they’ve found someone else with a new way to look at it to listen to.

Moon in Cancer: This placement has an amazing capacity to gain an intuitive feel for just about anything. It analyzes and feels situations in great depth, far more than other moon placements do. Because of the amount of emotional energy this placement expends in gaining a strong understanding of its initial experience with something, it can become upset when it has to redo this learning in a new environment.  Their strong understanding comes from a tendency to estimate, because they instinctively know they don’t always see the whole picture. So, they fill in the details with their imaginations. On one hand, their estimations can seem almost psychically accurate, but occasionally they get too much in their own heads trying to figure something out and are a bit off. While it is capable of adapting, it takes it much longer to do so than faster placements because of the amount of work that goes into gaining real understanding rather than cursory knowledge. Cancer moons can be prone to “rejecting the new” (people, ideas, ect) as a result, but eventually do warm up to it.

Moon in Leo: This placement is often hyper-aware, subconsciously, of how precious their time is. They can sometimes appear to other placements as conceited or too self-important to be bothered, but they are probably the only placement who realized how precious life is. Now, they tend to direct this thought more towards their own life, but they can also have extremely warm and inspiring opinions for those they care about because they intuitively feel how precious and amazing those people are.

Moon in Virgo: This placement, while actually quite peaceful by nature, is easily stressed out. Once they are made aware of an issue (contrary to popular belief, they do not LOOK for things to correct, those things are forced into their awareness) they have an intense compulsion to fix it. Virgo is quite spiritual by nature and has a natural understanding that small things are best handled before they become bigger things. This sense of how things incur over time leads them to want to do everything NOW, despite their frustrating human limitations. They can also feel bitter because they are painfully aware of how many things they can’t control are going to snowball, but without them so many things that are in their control do NOT snowball, and most other placements do not realize how frequently this is the case.

Moon in Libra: This placement has the unusual ability to understand both sides of an issue and simultaneously empathize with both points and neither of them at the same time. While most people assume those with this placement are stuck between seeing two ideas as equally good, they are more often in the precarious position of seeing both options as equally bad, and are forced to come up with an alternative. To reiterate, they do not have a hard time deciding. Most of the time, when given two choices, a Libra moon’s instinct is to sort of “nope” out of them both, giving the illusion of indecision. This is because they intuitively knowthere is a better option to be found somewhere. This can, however, take a lot of time to discover, and sometimes opportunities where taking the lesser of two evils would have been preferable to inaction pass them by. Just as often, though, they find an option that is better than either original proposition.

Moon in Scorpio: This placement tends to be pretty chill. While outwardly, they may seem sad, they typically just have resting bitch face (I’m sorry, but you know it’s true.) and are in a calm state. Scorpio moons understand that everything in our world is temporary. They’re actually capable of feeling immense joy because of how present they can be in an imperfect moment. Other placements can’t seem to understand why something makes them so darn happy, while they seemingly don’t care about anything else in the world. The simple answer is that when they’re happy, they know they weren’t owed it and there’s no guarantee it’ll happen ever again, so they feel it all at once. This can also leave them apathetic to others’ pain, because to them, the awareness of something’s temporary nature is so plain it’s almost funny to them when someone else thought something would last forever. They aren’t as callous as they appear, but they will always be reserved around those who do not share their understanding of how fleeting things really are.

Moon in Sagittarius: This placement has an intuitive understanding that there is always something more to be found, whether it be in a person’s actions, an event they watch happen, or even their own understanding and existence. They are constantly trying to figure out how things relate. The world, however, has many layers and while Sagittarius moons accurately connect some of those layers, sometimes they miss others and think they have the whole picture before they do. Often times, they have enough of the picture put together to make something work that everyone else assumed would fail, but other times they have to completely redraw their mental map from scratch, which they do with surprising glee and fervor. That forward drive allows them to recover from things that would cripple other placements, although they may find those situations are often self made.

Moon in Capricorn: This placement embody’s survival of the fittest. They can seem cold, but really, the just have a strong sense of what will work and what will not. They are often ashamed of their own flaws far more than other placements, and tend to cope by compensating heavily with growing stronger. Capricorn moons have a very hard time ignoring facts for their own comfort, much less the comfort of others. Concrete truths ring true to their core, and as much as they may try to bend them, they always come back to what they know will work and what will not based on the facts.

Moon in Aquarius: This placement has a natural curiosity unparalleled by other placements. They can be prone to intrusive thoughts and impulsive actions because they simply want to see what will happen, and may do things that go against widely accepted social codes both intentionally and unintentionally. They learn how to intuitively find solutions to a multitude of life’s problems, but are much more interested in finding the solutions than implementing them. This can leave them in a great position to give advice to other people and even themselves, but unless the circumstances are compelling, their unlikely to follow their own good advice. They simply prefer to find a different way to do something. It looks like reinventing the wheel from the outside, but for Moon in Aquarius folks, life is simply begging to be played with, and doing something the simple way isn’t living at all. It may take them years, but they almost always find a workaround.

Moon in Pisces: This placement instinctively reverses everything it feels. While they do connect to the opinions and feelings of others, their tendency to also acknowledge the opposite position can leave them feeling equally connected and isolated, as if they have a second personality. Pisces moons can exist in two worlds at once completely, which tends to manifest as inaction on their part. While they may outwardly act one way, their imagination compensates by wondering how things would go if they did they exact opposite of what they do. Their dual nature can make them easy to connect with halfway, but almost impossible to connect with fully. They can seem a little melancholy on the outside because they feel a sense of sadness that other placements can’t keep up with how fast their imagination works and how crucial understanding their imagination is to understanding not just how they interact with the world, but how they feel about those interactions.

If you liked this interpretation of your moon (or someone else’s moon) and are curious about a reading with me, I’m actively screening for participants in a research project that includes doing a free reading for anyone selected. I have a survey to find candidates who meet the criteria I’m doing research on.

I strongly encourage you to share this link with your friends who are maybe on the fence about astrology, as I’m trying to get a decent sample size. If everyone I survey are astrologers themselves it could impact my results. Normally I do not offer free readings to people I don’t know, but it’s essential I don’t have a personal relationship with the person I’m reading for this particular study.

NATALMOONINVIRGO

_____________ how they feel _____________

the moon in virgo individual doesn’t tend to feel emotions deeply. logical, practical, and realistic, they think and feel along utilitarian lines. both critical and discriminating, they are always seeing the imperfections in a situation or person and spends a lot of time trying to sort them out or eradicate them altogether.

with what is often a narrow, judgmental outlook and a value system that puts an emphasis on efficiency and productivity, they are not at home with the feelings of other people. likewise, they are not in touch with their own.

the moon in virgo individual’s feelings are deeply buried. they are out of touch with old childhood wounds and painful moments that evoked in them deep embarrassment or vulnerability. consequently, as an adult, they have little compassion for the feeling realm. they put their emphasis on trying to make small things perfect, on being efficient and turning out a product without a single flaw.

their sensitivity to “flaws,” both material and physical, often makes the moon in virgo person someone difficult to be with. also health and diet-conscious, they will notice those five extra pounds and won’t be shy about constructive criticism.

they are without sympathy for a person who persists on a path not focused on the goal of perfection. essentially intolerant of other ways of thinking and feeling, they will criticize and act as if they have the power to make everything that is too fat, flawed, excessive, or emotional go away.

the moon in virgo individual likes things to be clean, tidy, cut-and-dried. heavy emotional displays disturb them. emotional demands provoke in them the need for distance. seeing the world from a singular dimension, they don’t understand the complexities of other people. therefore, they are often out of touch with the words or behavior that a person might need most.

nevertheless, this individual is conscientious in their own way and wants to be of help in most situations. they can be counted on in a crisis, and even if their responses may seem completely emotionally inappropriate, they do mean well. the moon in virgo individual simply thinks that the entire world should live as they would, and seeing the world from a small place that seems very secure and controllable, they are hard put to have a more profound emotional response. the moon in virgo person’s ignorance is their bliss, and their personal opinions they see as their present to the world.

_______ how they show their feelings _______

the moon in virgo individual doesn’t really show their feelings. they live on the surface in a comfort zone of controlled and controlling activity, details, deadlines, disciplined regimes, and perhaps exercise.

although they can occasionally be high-strung, when angry this person usually tends to be passive-aggressive, preferring to communicate through omission.

when in love, the moon in virgo individual is more comfortable giving a practical little gift than talking about their feelings. they can be physically affectionate but shies away from deep emotional displays. often articulate, they can be witty, clever, and constantly offering their constructive advice. as annoying as their comments may seem, they are sincere about trying to improve a situation, person, or predicament.

who they are emotionally

NATALMOONINCAPRICORN

_____________ how they feel _____________

the typical moon in capricorn individual sublimates their feelings. their denial of emotions fuels them in their avid quest for wealth and power. this is a person who feels they must always be busy, and the more that they are consumed with constant enterprising activity and the world on the outside, the less they feel on a deeply emotional level.

although they have the capability of depth, this individual tends to live in the shallow end of their emotional pool, taken up with the world at large. if they can get beyond the mad clamor of daily life, they might find they’re capable of compassion, based on their ability to relate to some suffering of their own from their past. however, their emotional thrust usually leads them in the more comfortable direction of some activity. activity in general and activities in particular can take on a ritualistic value in that they lend them a sense of structure, productivity, and emotional escape.

deep underneath their surface lies a vulnerable side protected by a web of psychological and behavioral defenses that may make them seem averse to love. as a matter of fact, they deeply need it. however, somewhere in life they have been burned, and they know that with the possibility of opening themself up to love comes the risk of deep emotional pain.

the moon in capricorn individual has to feel safe, secure, and on steady ground before they will allow themself to form a substantial romantic connection. furthermore, their self-control and sense of discipline will allow them to quickly erect barriers that may become entire roadblocks, should they feel endangered by the relationship at any time. all earth sign moons want everything to be put neatly in its place, even emotions. that is why they can be so frustrating and perhaps boring when it comes to romance, which often requires some spontaneity and whimsy. the feelings of the moon in capricorn individual need to be drawn out slowly so that they don’t feel engulfed with the emotionally ominous threat of the unknown.

like all earth sign moons, this person has a strong sensuous, tactile nature and tends to feel a great deal through their body and their senses. the proper scent can bring them down from their goal-oriented tower and get them in touch with feeling. physical displays of affection are also essential, and a sexual relationship that is deeply sensual can ground them and get them deep inside themself - at least for a while.

_______ how they show their feelings _______

the moon in capricorn individual tends to suppress their feelings and not communicate openly. nevertheless, no matter how much they are suppressed, painful feelings can affect them for a very long time. this is an individual who sees themself as a survivor in a potentially dangerous world. they, therefore, do not open up easily. they can even be called distrustful and at times paranoid. they play every move out in their head from the perspective of retaining power or retaining self-preservation versus pain.

the moon in capricorn individual has a serious problem expressing anger, and at times this can cause them to suffer from depression. wanting order and control in all situations, they are thrown in the lurch by emotional situations that they can’t put aside in a tidy little pile and forget. when deeply affected, they can take to brooding, withdrawing and becoming quite dark. this might be seen from the outside as startling emotional coldness. however, this person is usually experiencing deep introversion and is so much at the mercy of their own profound feelings that their connection with the surrounding world seems to disappear.

when it comes to love, this individual may need a bit of drawing out, as well as a lot of emotional reassurance before they are comfortable revealing the deeper parts of themself. even then, only a combination of time, magic, and chemistry will determine how much they will be willing to open up.

who they are emotionally

NATALMOONINVIRGO

________ who they are emotionally ________

the key word for the moon in virgo individual is discriminating. they are practical rather than emotional and reasonable rather than deeply feeling. conventional and somewhat constrictive, they are disciplined, duty-bound and highly security-oriented.

work tends to come before pleasure with this individual who must attend to business details often to the detriment of emotional matters. a great moon for a lawyer, surgeon, accountant, or president, it can pose problems in the initial stages of a romance, providing that they allow the romance to reach the initial stages.

this individual is critical and not in touch with their deeper feelings. furthermore, they highly validate their own way of thinking and want the world to change according to their belief system. this might be the most difficult moon sign when it comes to the subject of love and compassion. the emotional range here is rather narrow, and anyone who gets close to the moon in virgo individual will soon feel their limits.

this individual can be calculating, controlled, and a worrywart over petty matters. because they feel they always have to be busy and cannot kick back and smell the flowers, they are a hard individual to relate to in any relaxed way. they can be a highly obsessive-compulsive person who doesn’t know how to calm down. this can put a big damper on their ability to create a deeper connection with a partner, and it often does.

on the positive side, they can be caring and conscientious. the moon in virgo individual can also be helpful in practical ways. their nature is serious, industrious, and persevering. honest and sincere, they are someone to be counted on. their big problem is that they cannot let go of minor preoccupations long enough to discover, explore, and share the best of themself.

more comfortable on the work scene than having dinner by candlelight, this person is driven by the need to accomplish for accomplishment’s sake. their goal may not even be a major accomplishment and often isn’t. however, it still fulfills their sense of purpose and deep work ethic. often assigning small details the importance of major life issues, this person finds a way to always be preoccupied. living life in this manner, they can have a hard time when it comes time to open up and love someone.

how they feel and show their emotions

astrology and past lives…

MOONINVIRGO-PISCES

principle… I serve or die.

transformation... I choose to live through service.

individuals with this karmic configuration in their charts are often extremely sensitive and intuitive, with powerful imaginations, an abundance of compassion, and very high ideals. what they all seem to have in common is a tendency to play “second fiddle” - that is, they find themselves surrounded by outstanding, unique people who are exciting and prominent. though also quite gifted and talented, those with virgo-pisces patterns often find themselves drawn to a role of serving others who are more flamboyant than they. the moon in virgo-pisces signifies an emotional need to serve and these people seem to fall quite naturally into that niche. yet they at times may find it frustrating because they themselves are gifted, and may feel that their talents are worth displaying as well as the talents of those they serve.

we find that these people have lived many prior lifetimes in which they were the ones in the limelight: they were kings, writers, performers, saints. now it seems they are meant to learn the karmic lesson of work and service; however, because of their own unrewarded talents and their subconscious memories of earlier lives, they can find that role heartbreaking at times. since pisces is the sign of self-undoing, the consequences of this frustration can lead to the individual’s own ruin.

ifsaturn is involved in the configuration, the individual may be blocked on all sides - in the expression of their own talents and from serving in the most effective manner. if uranus is involved in the configuration, the person’s life will be somewhat unusual in nature. at some point in time there will be a break or separation; either the individual will separate from family and friends in order to be around those they wish to serve; or an irreconcilable difference will arise between the individual and those being served and they will part company. in either case, severe emotional trauma can result. in prior lives these individuals have been in serving positions and have become too attached to those they serve, often to their own detriment. this planetary position seems to indicate a need for breaking attachments, which is one step toward learning the lesson of non-attachment. if neptune is involved in the configuration, the individual is involved with people who may be extremely gifted and charismatic, but who are not always honest and up-front. they constantly may fall prey to deception and intrigue, or unwittingly may become involved in practices which are not always on the correct side of the law. this pattern seems to be repeated from incarnation to incarnation and indicates a tendency to trust people too much. paranoia is a characteristic inherent in pisces, and these individuals subconsciously may react to memories of prior lifetimes in which they suffered through being too trusting. now they are both overly suspicious and overly trusting, unable to judge others clearly. they need to cultivate the virgo side of this axis and attempt to see people as they really are rather than falling into the trap of being both too idealistic and too paranoid. if pluto is involved in the configuration, the individual has experienced this pattern in many lifetimes and needs to undergo the process of regeneration. perhaps such people have served others too long and need to learn that they, too, are part of the great universal consciousness, also worthy of being served. they often seek to do this through unusual actions which few can understand. for these individuals, the subconscious is extremely active. few can match them in insightfulness; they have the ability to draw upon inner powers and use these in serving themselves and others. they also have the ability to bring the products of their vivid imaginations into reality. these people often possess strong interest in the forces of nature and in utilizing them through modern technology. many with this configuration have been artists or writers in the past and in their present lives find themselves interested in both the artistic and technological aspects of the entertainment industry.

THE SIGNS #10 VIRGO

What’s up, bitches - it’s been a minute. Let’s break this radio silence and talk about sweet, repressed baby Virgo. Another top contender on our “12 Most Hated Signs” list. Now, before all you Virgos roll your eyes so far back into your heads they’re gone for good, let’s set the record straight.

First: what do we actually know about Virgo? Criticism is a lame answer, bitches. Let’s flesh it out.

Yes - Virgo can come off as cold-hearted, but it’s not because these bitches are actually frozen. Virgo is one of the most feeling-filledsignsin this biz. We all get confused thinking Virgo is an emotionless criticism machine because we forget that having feelings and expressing feelings are two very, very different things.

But before we take it any further, think about this: from Aries to Virgo, we’re dealing with ourselves. From Libra to Pisces, we’re dealing with others. Virgo is the very last self-focused baby in all the land before Libra steps on the scene, takes over, and starts forcing everyone to deal with everyone else. So Virgo feelsthesignificance of this amazing change that’s coming with Libra, but it has no fucking tools or framework to actually organize and express these overwhelming feelings of connection and closeness and togetherness because we’re still notactuallyto Libra yet. Fuck.

So how does Virgo even begin to cope with these feelings it doesn’t actually know how cope with? By getting it’s shit together.Virgo is the character builder of the Zodiac. Virgo thinks to itself “well, there’s no fucking way I’m ready to deal with all the shit I’m feeling, so let me at least improve myself so that when I finally step onto the Libra scene, I’m the best version of myself that I can be.” Virgo comes after Leo for a reason, people. Leo is out there just expressing for expression’s sake - Virgo is the first bitch to come along and say, “yeah, you’re on fire, that’s pretty cool, but why are you lighting yourself on fire? What do you want people to take away from that shit? What is the fucking point?” So, Virgo uses its powers of analysis, observation, and yes, even criticism, to clean up Leo’s act and get us ready to share ourselves with others (Libra). And Virgo won’t stand for some half-assed shit - if it’s gonna share, it’s gonna be good.

At its highest level, Virgo is self-improvement. Virgo genuinely wants us to be at our best, because Virgo (in their deeply-hidden-away way) recognizes that relationships are a responsibility, and we need to have our fucking shit together before we get out there and interact, or we are going to (1) hurt other people and (2) look like a gross disaster while we’re doing it. Yikes.

Now, that being said, unhealthy Virgo is going to play itself out as (1) being a cold-blooded bitch in the name of “helping you be your best” and (2) paralyzing themselves into a dissatisfied clump of inaction because they can’t decide which move it the best move to make. Virgo - stop it. You’re better than this!! And even though you’ve vaulted your feelings away because they’re too much for you to deal with, you want people to like you and you actually fucking love feeling things. So drop the act, cut yourself a break, and get your fucking life together.

What’s the solution? Well, it’s always chilling with the complementary sign. What Virgo needs to really get its point across and make those dank improvements to selves and societies that it was born to make, is a healthy dose of Pisces’s understanding, compassion and sensitivity. Weknow those big feelings scare you Virgo, but damn. You’re gonna need to learn to let them out (and in) a little bit if you want to connect to other people. Because it’s only through genuinely connecting with others that you’re going to be able to inspire real, lasting change and improvement.

In short: let us love you, Virgo, and take it easy on us. And take it easy on yourself. You’re already good enough.

Full Moon in Virgo

We instinctually gravitate towards practical activities under the influence of a Virgo Moon. In an urge to set things right, we might easily find ourselves re-organizing and rethinking plans. Emotional satisfaction comes from solving problems, making order out of confusion, and helping others. Health matters might come into focus.

Attention towards details is on the increase, with a tendency to fault-finding, cleanliness and neatness. It is a good time to undertake routine, painstaking work, and to search for and correct errors. Your body may be more intolerant of low-grade food and harmful substances, and this is a good day to begin a diet.

The Moon in Virgo generally favors mental pursuits, work, routines and any activities that would benefit from tending to details.

Sun in Virgo

The Sun expresses precisely and hyperactively. A conscientious need for everything to be properly considered ensures a healthy Virgo’s life is industrious. With insight Virgos analyze all they consider to be the necessary details, arranging things systematically. They are ideally suited to editing and administrative organization, but need to beware of overworking. Unnecessarily high standards and too much petty detail can obscure easier solutions.

Moon in Virgo

The Moon reacts fastidiously and dismissively. When Moon is in Virgo, the natural inclination is to improve everything to perfection. Only if projects are tangible, or based upon a methodical structure and system of rules, can it be clear whether or not something is right. If it’s not, people with a Virgo Moon work at it until it is. As they are uncomfortable unless everything is as it should be, their associates may find them difficult to satisfy, even picky.
