Nike is the winged Greek goddess of victory, strength, and speed. She was always shown holding laurels and in her right hand, a palm branch, as well as wearing gold. The palm branch she carried symbolized peace, and the laurels were shown so that she could crown the victor. She often carried a cup as well, to drink out of for victory toasts. Nike was pictured wearing wings when she was alone, but not when pictured with other gods. To the Romans, Nike was known as Victoria.

it comes as no surprise that mermaids have found their way beyond our planet. some have done so alongside humans, taking up positions on space stations, while others have taken on the forms of beautiful comets, sailing through the stars. yet more have become black holes themselves, colossal beings of immense power capable of plucking stars from the night sky.

it is not uncommon for a mermaid to be cursed with undeath, and some have even suggested that their highly magical nature leads them towards it. undeath can take many forms, both vicious and benign, but all should be feared. they can often be found haunting ship graveyards, or dangerous waters where unsuspecting sailors may fall victim to the waves.

all mermaids belong to the water, but some also find their place in another element. these mermaids are powerful beings that often go unseen by humans their entire lives, living in spaces surrounded by their favoured elements. many of them act as guardians of vast swathes of water that has been touched, for whatever reason, by another element.
