Fresh off a conjunction with Neptune, the Moon in Pisces imbues us with a dreamy feeling in the morning. This driftiness finds an object when the Moon sextiles Venus in Taurus. Both of these signs are about a certain sort of simplicity and emptying out personal biases to be receptive to what lies beyond us: with Pisces, it’s the divine; with Taurus, it’s the natural world. Look for things that are beautiful but also comforting and nourishing. Feed both your body and your soul. Beyond the moon’s ingress into Aries around noon PST, it makes no other aspects for the rest of the day, making it more of a free agent. That energy, combined with Aries’s impassioned desire for action, gives us a sort of agency to do what we will. Generally, when a moon is void, the saying is “when the moon isn’t working, neither should you”. But since the moon will make aspects as it traverses Aries, think of this pocket of time as a respite from normal functioning and do you own thing.

To honor the fiery driftiness of today, I offer you a poem for each sign.

Let its wisdom serve you well.

This weekend we have two notable transits occurring between personal planets and outer planets. Mercury, finishing up its last few days in Taurus, receives a helpful trine from Pluto in Capricorn. Usually, Mercury in Taurus focuses on the practical; its mental faculties prefer extending themselves to their here and now and what is tangibly understood. With an aspect from Pluto, needling planet of the Underworld, the tangible takes us deep within our psyches, but for the sake of exposing our depths to the light. Taking place late Saturday/Sunday night, this transit is an aid for any difficult or emotional conversations you may be having. It can also help with any solo depth and healing work you may be undertaking. Stay grounded in your own experience, as we are dealing with planets in earth signs, and keep the mind on what is rather than on what should be. Taking a page from the third decan of Taurus (where Mercury currently transits), there will always be difficulty and disappointment regardless of how well we’ve prepared. Can we have humility in the face of powerful forces? Can we know the limits of our own power?

Later in the day on Sunday, Venus, the planet of love, and Neptune, the planet of mysticism, form a harmonious sextile, creating connection that transcends boundaries. Now both of these planets are already in quite “strong” positions. Venus in Taurus lends a grounded sensuality that draws beauty and abundance towards it. Neptune in Pisces is that much more porous, sensitive, and compassionate, though also confusing, foggy, and dissociative. While this transit does not support the erection of boundaries (as Mars in Cancer is urging us to do), it does lend a certain enchantment to personal interactions and pleasurable activities. Use this transit to make art, spend a day by the water or in a forest, or bring a bit of magic into your relationship life. Just take your interactions today with a grain of salt; they may not be what they seem.

Find the magic in all things. Read your horoscopes below.

Mercury sextile Neptune

Today the moon spends all day in Sagittarius, home sign of Jupiter. The buoyancy and inquisition of the last half of yesterday carries over to today, with a sextile to Saturn to fortify and concretize our efforts and a square to Neptune at the end of the day. This aspect is interesting because Neptune has just made a perfect sextile to Mercury, lending the oceanic outer planet a bit more legibility than it normally has. The square to the moon creates an ambient dreaminess, diffusing some of Sagittarius’s fiery energy in favor of Pisces’s receptive flow. You may be more sensitive to external stimuli and supernatural forces alike. The sextile from Mercury asks that you don’t disperse the mystery of Neptune’s gifts but that you do something to make it real. Being in Taurus, the sign of Venus, this Mercury wants what it communicates to be beautiful. Making music, herbal medicine, food, art of any kind is a beautiful way of expressing this mystical, cerebral transit. The only thing to watch for are old habits or subconscious forces arising. Remember to act from an aware, present place and find an activity that puts your mind and soul to work.

Read on to join the universe.

Today the Moon finishes its monthly journey through Scorpio, though not before making some notable aspects along the way. As I stated earlier, Scorpio moons can be rough. Our feelings are big. Our ability to express them may be hindered. Take the time you need to make your little inward journeys and boundaries. The moon will form a helpful trine to Neptune in Pisces around 3:30 AM PST, which can add a prophetic quality to your dreams. Spend time in the morning drifting, if possible, and don’t put too fine a point on your thoughts or problems. Let solutions arise in time. With the moon forming a square to Jupiter around 12:30 PM PST, though there may be some tension between your emotional needs and your need to expand, they can also help the other out. Jupiter in general tends to bring larger systems into harmony while giving us a felt sense of understanding of the world’s moving parts. Put your emotions into a larger context and ask: what are they for? How can they heal myself and others?

Finally, around 1:45 PM PST, the moon moves into Sagittarius, where feelings tend towards enthusiasm and what we feel is deeply connected to what we believe. Take advantage of this generous truth-seeking energy by following your curiosity and simply having a good time.

Read on to find your flow.

A new moon for Neptune

Hippocamp, a previously undetected moon of Neptune, has a peculiar location and a tiny size relative to the planet’s other inner moons, which suggests a violent history for the region within 100,000 kilometres of the planet.

By Anne J. Verbiscer

In 1989, the NASA spacecraft Voyager 2 detected six moons of Neptune that are interior to the orbit of the planet’s largest moon, Triton1. In a paper in Nature, Showalter et al.2 report the discovery of a seventh inner moon, Hippocamp. Originally designated as S/2004 N 1 and Neptune XIV, this moon was found in images taken by NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope in 2004–05 and 2009, and then confirmed in further images captured in 2016. Hippocamp is only 34 kilometres wide, which makes it diminutive compared with its larger siblings, and it orbits Neptune just inside the orbit of Proteus — the planet’s second largest moon.

The Race to find Neptune

400 years ago, a great arms race began in the scientific community: using the newly developed technology afforded by the telescope, astronomers and natural scientists stayed up night after night training their new instruments on the sky. Few were as prolific or as careful (or talented) as Galileo Galilei who 404 years ago first saw the planet Neptune through a telescope on the night of December 28, 1612.

The telescope was immediately recognized as the most significant technological revolution in astronomy. Galileo noted the object but failed to recognize its significance, and Neptune disappeared for another 234 years, when it was predicted by French astronomer Urbain LeVerrier. A second arms race began when English, French and German scientists all raced to find the planet predicted by the perturbations in Uranus’ orbit. By this time the telescope was in regular use by both scientists and talented amateurs around the world as scientists stayed up night after night searching for discoveries.

The prediction of a new planet was soon confirmed by German astronomer Johann Gottfried Galle just one year after he finished his Ph.d dissertation which he had sent to LeVerrier for comments. Galle found Neptune first on September 23, 1846, though James Challis had both spotted it and noted it but failed to recognize it as a planet due to using outdated star maps. A minor battle then ensued when LeVerrier suggested the name Leverrier for the new planet-and had English astronomers immediately insist that the recently discovered Uranus be named Herschel after its discoverer, the Anglo-German astronomer William Herschel, who for his part wanted to call Uranus after his patron King George III of England. Galle first proposed Janus (the Roman two-faced god) and Challis proposed Oceanus. Ultimately consensus was found by continuing with the theme of naming planets after Greek and Roman gods, as the west had done since antiquity, and the planet was named Neptune. Irregularities in Neptune’s orbit led to a third race to discover any satellites that might be orbiting, and 17 days later Neptune’s first moon was discovered by amateur English astronomer and beer magnate William Lassell on October 10, 1846 and named Triton.

Neptune’s next two moons were discovered in the 1940s but it wasn’t until the Voyager spacecraft passed Neptune that an additional 5 moons were found. Neptune now has 14 recognized satellites, the most recent of which remains un-named, first spotted in 2004.

Special thanks to @graduatedpillowmonster <3

Part 1

Henry Le Vesconte: you probably should fight him, but don’t because it means fighting Fitzjames and his cheetah. You might survive the cheetah but you won’t survive Fitzjames.

Lt. Hodgson: fight him if you really have nothing better to do. He might try to distract you with another lengthy story from his childhood and it will probably work. So it’s your call.

CharlesDesVoeux: will probably run away before you can land a punch. Fight him if you catch him.

Dr. McDonald: now why would you want to fight this nice and cheerful gentleman who can - and will - fight back, unless trapped in a tent with a frenzied mob behind him? Don’t.

Dr. Peddie: first of all, good luck finding him. Also there is so little known about him that it’s hard to make an educated guess. Seems chill though, so don’t fight.

Sgt. Tozer: a really bad idea. He is a Royal Marine, now what the bloody hell do you think that means? Exactly, he’ll shoot you on the spot. Even if you manage to corner him, watch out for Armitage sneaking up on you with a gun. And if you somehow manage to deck Tozer, you’ll have to deal with the rest of the Marines. Fight with extreme caution, better yet – don’t fight at all.

PrivateHeather: the dude is in a coma?? Why would you fight him??? Also if you try anything, the Marines are after you. Good luck with that.

Mr.Diggle: if you’re a cook, it is mandatory for you to fight him, and he will fight back (watch out for knives, pans and rock-hard biscuits). Otherwise don’t fight him, or your next supper might contain something worse than lead. That is, if you get a supper at all.

Mr. Wall:seeMr. Diggle.

Thomas Armitage: fight him unless he has a gun. Watch out for Tozer, just in case.

ThomasHartnell:no. He’ll be confused and distressed and will probably just let you punch him. You’re better than this. Don’t fight.

John Morfin: end his suffering by getting him some quality painkillers, not by fighting him.

Magnus Manson:seeDavid Young.

Thomas Evans:seeDavid Young.

Sir John Ross: this man survived Blanky. Let that sink in and stay away.

Sir James Ross: first of all, why? Also fighting him means fighting Sir John Ross, the whole Admiralty and Crozier. Stay away.

Neptune, JackoandFagin the cat:I will find you and you will rue the day you were born.

Poseidon Cometh!  heheh. this one was super fun to do. I wanted to make it feel like the storm was coming with his arrival. As always, we’ve got some visual symbols in here. Ill list them for your guessing pleasure.

2.) creatures pulling chariot

3.) child on dolphin

3.) half-fish/ half man creatures

4.) woman astride dolphin
