#notion
decided to show off my notion *:・゚★*:・゚☆
i mostly see people using the inbuilt “not started” “in progress” and “completed” tags but as someone who is the complete opposite of a perfectionist i really needed that “close enough xddd” tag
i really want to make the layout more cohesive but this is the only way it can look normal on both a computer and an ipad
also wish they gave us the power to put pictures next to databases alreadyyyyy
day 1 of @studywitharmy’s 10 day study challenge: what self care did you practice today?
Today I worked on cleaning off my desk and sorting out my pencil case! I also washed my face really well first thing in the morning and let myself sleep in 2 hours later than usual after I stayed up pretty late last night. Sometimes, one has to compensate!! Hope you loves are having a great day :)
setting up my notion for the school this year!! how do y'all use notion, if at all? i’d highly recommend it, but sometimes crossing off objects on paper is still more satisfying? hoping to create something to track my independent studies if y'all have any ideas. cheers! – august
more study/book content on my instagram account: @thomreads | feel free to drop your ig in the comments, i am looking to follow new people there!
i know i know chalk makes your hands feel weird, but blackboards > whiteboards
Transitioning back to in-person lectures has been rough…. that is why I am currently spending my mid semester break working my ass off
Today
To start off, we have my today page, which is essentially my home base on Notion. This is where I have my routines as drop-down toggles links to my class pages and goals, and I also have a linked database where I plan out when I’ll do all my tasks. If I click on the list it takes me to the page with all of my planned out to-do’s, but when I’m on my Today page it only shows me the tasks that I’ve set for that particular day so I know exactly what I need to get done. It sounds slightly complicated but once it’s set up it’s such a breeze to use and I don’t know what I’d do without it tbh! I’ve been using this linked database system for about 6 months or so and it’s a total lifesaver, if y’all want a tutorial or a template or something on it just let me know!
Academic Hub
Next up is my Academic Hub, where I keep all my school information and links. Within this, I have pages for each of my classes which I’ll talk about next, as well as other linked pages that help keep me organized. I also love having a quote at the top of my “hub” pages that are relevant to the page since they keep me motivated and inspired. I also have another linked database where I keep a calendar of all my due dates for the quarter. I’m on spring break right now so I don’t have any dates or notes entered in yet for the quarter, but I will soon!
Class Pages
For each class that I’m in, I make a page that can be the home for all things related to the course. I keep the information about when the class meets, the Zoom ID and the link to the class page on Canvas all handy at the top (plus the link to the syllabus if it’s online rather than a pdf). Then I have a list where I keep all my class notes, though I don’t have any in there just yet. I also have another linked database beneath that, which links to the due dates calendar, this one only showing the due dates for the particular class that the page is about (for example, this one would only show due dates for my English class)
Study Hall
And the last page that I’ll be sharing today is my study hall page, which is basically a checklist that I go through to help get myself into a focused mindset. I don’t do all of these every single time I want to work, but it’s handy if I’m having a hard time getting started on schoolwork. I also have a page linked with a list of study break ideas, and I like to pick one out to do once I’m done with my study session since that helps to motivate me. I also embedded two study playlists from Spotify to the page, so I can easily just click on them and get some good instrumental music to study to without having to search around for them.

my 2020 notion set up // for ✨uni students✨
setting up my notion template for this year
September 3, 2021
My desk space…in which I ended up rearranging everything right after this photo haha. I recently started using Notion to help keep up with my studies and I think I’m enjoying it but I’m still pretty new at it. I made a maple syrup latte with oatmilk to keep me going on this paper that’s due tonight. Oh and I use this quote from DPS to help me with my English papers..if you know you know.. Hope everyone is doing well✨ {mine}
hello everyone! i thought i would share some keyboard shortcuts in notion that i use the most often and that save me the most time.
note: most actions from word processors, like ctrl + b for bold, will already work in notion!
- #, ##, or ### + space to create large, medium, and small headings respectively
- > + space to create a toggle block
- /,the forward slash, lets you create any page you want. just type out what you’re looking for (i.e. page, table, link)
- ctrl + \ toggles the sidebar on and off
- ctrl + shift + n opens a new notion window (i use this for notetaking)
- ctrl + shift + u lets you go up a level in the page hierarchy (i.e. from february to all months)
- duplicate any content by holding option or alt and dragging. you can highlight as many blocks as you want
- ctrl + / to change the type of blocks you have selected
- ctrl + shift + p to move the page you’re on to another one (i like to use this for my article list to move them to my already read list
hope this helps :)
