No yeah we should really acknowledge this more actually, if you’re underage you shouldn’t be taking 18+ commissions. They’re 18+ for a reason and it’s to protect you from dangerous fuckwads.
Similarly, if you’re a minor don’t ask for 18+ commissions from adults either. Ik y’all got them teenage hormones and shit but that’s illegal on the adult’s end and dangerous for you. You can’t trust people you don’t know well. And if any adult tries to interact with you over NSFW material, RUN. RUN AS FAR AS YOU FUCKING CAN.

doesnt matter where they stand, if its insipid internet discourse then it stays on the internet. it should not affect your real life.
cyberbullying affects real life, doxxing affects real life, spreading csem affects real life. if closing the computer or deleting your account cant get rid of it, it shouldnt happen.
deleting an account doesnt get rid of the trauma of being harrassed; of having your or your families name, address, school, phone number, social security number, voters registration number, ect leaked; of having csem or nonconsensual images spread.

Also on a side note; y'all really hate fictional ships so much y'all gotta threaten to spread around real csem? There’s so many more morally humane things you could’ve done than do this. Like for example; not even talking to mafu. Acting like mafu exists and moving on with your life, but you just willingly chose one of the worst possible things to do. You talk big on how you want to protect children from the “big scary mean proshippers” but you’re the ones putting them in harm’s way to begin with. The anti movement is therefore not about making kids safe (hell it never was). It’s about scaring and oppressing a group of people they find weird (like the rest of this fucked up society/world). Antis are all sick fucks if they think anyone deserves this because they like 2(or more) fictional characters together as a ship.
What we commonly like to say: “what we like in fiction does not affect our in real life morals.” And hell yeah it’s correct. Antis just showed that. They’re really over here spewing this purity culture BS about fiction while committing real life heinous acts to anyone who disagrees with them.
I’ve been on and off for a while, and a lot of shit has gone down.
For a while, I somewhat doubted my stance on shipping. It seemed like antis had become so ubiquitous on this platform that at best, I had to compromise my opinions to use it effectively, and at worst they must be right. I only used this blog occasionally, and internally I stopped considering myself pro-ship. It’s just shipping discourse anyway; it wasn’t something that mattered enough to take a hardline stance on when it could hurt me.
But then something else happened. Someone close to me ended up hurt by a group of friends who were deep in anti rhetoric. Things they held onto for comfort were treated as flaws these people had to overlook, and that they couldn’t mention without being required to qualify things. Without going into detail, they were also made to feel like a horrible person; it hurt them even after they pulled away from that friend group.
This is to say, I’m very sure again, and I’ve seen first hand the damage that antis can cause, especially to people in their spaces. People are afraid of tripping up or liking the wrong thing, and they feel horrible for a while after. And for this reason, I think I’m going to return to this blog.
That said, I have softened my stance a bit; fiction obviously CAN harm people, and it is worth looking at how it does this. Fanfic isn’t going to have the influence that mass media does, but it’s not beyond criticism, especially if it perpetuates harmful stereotypes or promotes discrimination. But I stand by the main part: assuming things are tagged; it’s perfectly fine to explore dark and unpleasant topics in fic, and shipping is just another form of that. Any two characters can probably form a relationship dynamic worth exploring, but it should always be tagged for people uncomfortable with it.
As always, ship what you want, and fandom is a place for exploration and fun.
