Desert Bus week is one of my favorite weeks every year. So many great humans raising money to cheer up children in hospitals, as well as in family shelters. For anyone unaware desertbus.org raises money every year for Child’s Play Charity by playing the world’s most boring video game for 24 hours every day for about a week straight. Last I checked they’d raised over 700k this year (and over 5 million lifetime), and they still have a couple of hours left.

Je suis comme une sale gosse devant ce petit pack collector du Grand Guide de l’Astrologie, qui cache un tote bag, un manque page, un sticker constellation & un badge de mon signe astrologique (que je ne vais pas cesser d’arborer avec la fierté d’un sale ♑️) et une de ces fameuses Witch List dont je raffole comme la grosse accro des listes que je suis (pas ma faute, j’ai la Lune en Vierge). ♀️Okay, let’s talk about another retelling… Yes, “To Kill a Kingdom” by Alexandra Christo is a retelling of “Little Mermaid” BUT, and please listen to me, it is not romantic as the Disney’s one. “To Kill a Kingdom” is a pretty dark fantasy for YA and I love it.
I’m not gonna lie to you, there is romance but it is extremely slow burn (another thing that I appreciate in a YA). Another point in its favor is that it is 100% standalone!

Lira is the daughter of Sea Queen, and known amongst humans as Princes’ Bane with the hearts of seventeen princes in her collection. I mean it literally, she has ripped hearts from their chests. Now I would ask those who haven’t read it not to continue. I wouldn’t like to influence you with my personal opinion.
I like the first book, I loved the second one but from the third… it’s a big NO for me! Can we just talk about the main character? I cannot say that I liked her at the beginning but still I could stand her, from the third book I wanted to go into it and kill her with my own hands. Let’s not talk about the fourth, it’s still an open wound.
And do not come to tell me that things improve in the Novella because I found it too disrespectful to us (readers). You (author) can’t say that it’s a trilogy and then it turns out being four more novella. Especially if one of these books might well be summed up in a few chapters.
It’s just my opinion…

Far beneath the surface of the earth, upon the shores of the Starless Sea, there is a labyrinthine collection of tunnels and rooms filled with stories. The entryways that lead to this sanctuary are often hidden, sometimes on forest floors, sometimes in private homes, sometimes in plain sight. But those who seek will find. Certainly it is not a book for everyone, it is one of those that you either love or hate it. I absolutely loved it. Everything is the metaphor for something else, especially the characters. At the end, it’s as if nothing had haptpened but something has changed… us!

Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children is a spine-tingling fantasy illustrated with haunting vintage photography. It’s a very original and detailed story. I think my favourite book is the second or the third one but every time I’m convinced of one thing Ransom Riggs makes me break down all the certainties (in a positive way).
