#BookReview: Wow. Three letters that best describe the book. It was more than what I expected and way better than I thought. (lesson: do not be intimidated easily) As I said before, I regret that I didn’t read this sooner. But better late than never, yeah? •
Bilbo, Gandalf, the drwaves and even Gollum and Smaug are characters I’ll never forget. My 10-year old self is jumping out of sheer joy and fascination with the adventure that she just had! And this journey is something that I will totally let my future children experience! (Like the Harry Potter series, of course) •
But aside from the wonderful things in the book and the beautiful writing of Tolkien, what made me really love it was how it showed us our ‘Hobbit-selves.’ We are like Bilbo who are contented living in a comfort zone, but deep inside we are longing to take on a new road and do new things. Yet, we are too scared to try, too scared to face the world. Then again, just like Bilbo Baggins, we take one step forward to the unknown with the hopes of returning back as a better person.

“There are no safe paths in this part of the world.” You just have to take the leap of faith. •
Every reader must read at least one Tolkien book in his/her lifetime. IT’S A MUST! •

Middle-earth March - Day 10
“The Last Homely House East of the Sea” is one of the names given to Rivendell, or Imladris. Traveling to the Misty Mountains and Wilderland, it is the last chance for coziness and a warm welcome. Coming from there, on the way to the civilised lands of Eriador to the West, it can be seen ad the “The First Homely House East of the Sea”. In Alan Lee’s “Lord of the Rings Sketchbook”, you can find some wonderful drawings of landscapes and details of Rivendell. It is also today’s topic for Middle-earth March suggested by @tolkientribe “Rivendell, forming the Fellowship”.

It is a curious thing that we humans can weep for a world that never was, that we can tie our emotions to characters that only exist in ink and parchment. Yet we do. I’ve been taking time recently to dive back in to the books, video games and movies that really inspired and continue to inspire my love for what I do. As a confirmed workaholic, it is no easy task to break away and sit still for a whole 2 hours to enjoy a film. But it is worth it. I always get something different out of these expeditions into fantasy. This time I have been marveling and the human ability of sub-creation. To build worlds that feel so real and so human. Worlds so beautiful they enhance our appreciation for our own surroundings, and allow us to see in our minds that which never was, or to see that which was but was never seen.
