tumblr is a site that, by tradition, you do not discuss using in public, let alone plaster on your body. however the subtlety of shoelaces combined with the comedy of the Bit would make that specific item worth it
We’re exclusively selling them to the president. If you want them you’ll have to get them the hard way.

after almost 2 years of hiatus, I wasn’t sure if I could ever return to this blog. if there’d be anything to return to. as much as I love art and the freedom that these comics gave me to express my feelings, coming back felt like a defeat. I wanted to believe that I was better, that I didn’t still deal with the problems I wrote about. I needed time to step away, figure out some things myself, get therapy, and most importantly - grow. I didn’t want to admit that I’m still mentally ill & that as much as I’ve changed, there’s still a lot of room for improvement. and that I had returned to my old habit of bottling everything up inside. through quarantine and starting a new job, I was finding less and less time to draw at all. but I realize that life is way to short to do anything that doesn’t make me happy. I don’t want to waste even more time neglecting what I’m passionate about. and I think it’s important to give myself the space to explore my feelings through my art again..
there’s been an incredible amount of renewed interest in this comic, a sudden outpouring of notes and messages of support. I can’t say thank you enough to those who have cared enough to reach out. it’s amazing how much of a community formed around this blog, even without me here. I’ve been able to connect with so many lovely people and I’m touched that my words can reach others who are struggling.
I want to apologize for my absence, but I’m eager to be back. I hope we can find growth and happiness together. thank you all.

1: High arches. Solution: Open up the middle. The lacing is mostly standard criss-cross but with gap lacing (threading only up the sides with no crossing) in the middle.
2: Shoes feel too tight. Solution: Trust in parallel style. The lacing depicted is straight bar lacing, where the laces run parallel to each other through the eyelets.
3: Heel slipping. Solution: Secure the top and leave the rest. The lacing is criss-cross lacing with lock lacing used at the part which would be closest to the ankle. To do lock lacing, take the left lace and thread it through the topmost left eyelet to create a loop. Repeat for the right lace and eyelet. Cross these two laces and thread them through the opposite loop, then tighten and tie your shoes as you normally would.
4: Black toenails | toe pain. Solution: Get your shoe (all caps) off (end caps) your toe. The lacing depicted is toe cap lacing. To do toe cap lacing, take one end of the shoelace and thread it from one eyelet closest to the toe diagonally to the opposite eyelet near the ankle. Then take the other end of the shoelace and do regular criss-cross lacing over the diagonal lace.
5: Wide forefoot. Solution: Leave some space. The lacing is mostly standard criss-cross but with gap lacing at the very front of the shoe where the toes would be. End image description.]

Shoelaces, also called shoestrings (US English) or bootlaces (UK English), are a system commonly used to secure shoes, boots and other footwear.They typically consist of a pair of strings or cords, one for each shoe, finished off at both ends with stiff sections, known as aglets. Each shoelace typically passes through a series of holes, eyelets, loops or hooks on either side of the shoe.
A popular myth states that Gurkha soldiers, fighting for Britain, crawled along the ground, feeling the laces of the soldiers they encountered. British soldiers employed straight- or bar-lacing, while Japanese troops employed a criss-cross pattern. Criss-cross laces could therefore mean the difference between life and death. The importance of correct lacing was thus emphasized to British troops. Whether true or not, there is an account of Gurkha soldiers checking the boots and laces of soldiers they encounter in the dark to find if they are friend or foe. $
