In order for any magical working to be effective you have to ensure that you are at peak performance. Making sure you are prepped mentally and physically ensures successful spells that don’t go wonky.
M E D I T A T E
Prep the mind by doing meditations daily, for as long as possible, leading up to the day you plan to perform any magical workings. Here is a beginners meditation for you to follow if you are new to meditation.
P H Y S I C A L C L E A N S E
Ritual baths are the easiest ways to cleanse the physical body before workings. Use special made bath salts or oils and cleanse yourself of all energies prior to working. Once you have finished your ritual bath, cover yourself in any homemade ritual oil. Do this right before your workings.
A P P A R E L
Ensure your ritual attire is properly cleansed before ritual. Use sage, salt or oils to cleanse this (a few drops of the oil or a sprinkle of salt will do, no need to go haywire). This is a step most people don’t think about beforehand, but your cloak needs to be cleansed before and after every ritual.
A M B I A N C E
Get yourself into the mind space by lighting candles, incense and playing “witchy” music before a ritual. Allow yourself to feel the magical space before actually making magic yourself.
S H U T O F F
Turn off your phone, TV and before doing any magical workings. This will not only get you in the right head space and allow you to concentrate better, but it will also help air out your energy or aura and free it from other frequencies that might disturb your magic.
L O C K U P
Close doors, windows and insure privacy for a period of time before ritual (this is if you practice solo of course). You don’t want anyone else’s energy fogging up the room for once, and you also want to ensure your full focus is on your intent and not worrying about someone barging in and interrupting your practice.
R E C I T E
Memorize your spell, it will be a lot easier to do a spell or ritual if you are confident in what you are doing. You won’t distract yourself by trying to find your spot on the page you are reading off and you will have more space or a free hand.
Hello Everyone! I am here, yet again, to remind you of the full moon!!! (I almost opened this post with “it’s that time of the month again!”…yikes!) Anyway…
April 11th, 2017 is the full Hare Moon. In other traditions/sects it is called the pink moon.
The Hare Moon is a time of both fertility and also a time for self-care and growth. April is known as the time of year when everything is beginning to wake up, plants are beginning to grow, and a sense of beautiful things to come is on the way. It is said that those wishing to get pregnant have the best luck during this Spring season. Think about it…this holiday falls between Ostara and Beltane!
For the rest of, though, the Hare moon is a good time for personal growth. A time to enhance your spiritual and emotional self. Perhaps do a spell for self-esteem or a ritual to get in touch with your inner power.
If you planted seeds during the March full moon // Seed Moon, take a moments to whisper your goals and intentions to your newly sprouted seedlings.
Many people call the March Full Moon the Worm Moon - But I refer to it as the seed moon.This year, 2017, the Seed Moon will be on March 12th!
So, what is the seed moon? The Seed Moon is a time to recognize desires and plant the seeds for new beginnings (both literally and metaphorically). Develop yourself spiritually and physically. March’s moon is often called the seed moon because it typically a time when new seeds are started and tended to.
This moon is also called the Worm Moon because the weather is getting warmer, the ground is unfreezing, and earth worms are popping up. Worms are not only signs of healthy, fertile soil…but they bring the birds which is a sign that spring is near.
Try starting a few hearty plants indoors. As you plant each seed imagine you are planting seeds for a specific goal. Tend to your seeds as you tend to your goal, and you will be rewarded two-fold.

Lately, a few people seem to have latched onto the idea that it’s just plain dangerous to perform magic during a lunar eclipse, especially if you’re a “newbie.” There is absolutely no logical basis for this theory. If you’re worried enough about the state of your psyche that you believe it could be somehow damaged by doing magic during an eclipse, then you need to either (a) not do magic at all, or (b) learn how to ground, center and shield so you won’t self-sabotage any workings you do.
Some practitioners see the eclipse period–which is generally pretty short–as being the equivalent of an entire lunar cycle packed into one brief event.
In some modern magical traditions, a lunar eclipse is considered a sort of metaphysical bonus round–in other words, any spellwork you do during this period is amplified and has a bit of extra power behind it. If you’ve been waiting around for a good time to do some serious spell work, this is it. Pick a goal that serves your or others in a big way.
Looking for something a little different? Raise power during the supermoon by catching the light in a magnifying glass and charging the altar or spell elements with it.
The supermoon creates an especially strong pull on the ocean tides, making it an ideal time to work with the element of water.
Perhaps your schedule doesn’t permit you to use this event at the height of its power. In that case, leave out some crystals or make some moon water to store the supermoon’s energy for later use.
