Some say the world is small. For Renan Viana’s micro characters (@encolhiaspessoas), it’s gigantic. In 2014, the 28-year-old photographer found a box of miniature figures in an antique shop in Belém, Brazil. Renan customized each with paint, glaze and glue then started taking photos of them on wild adventures. “The miniature figures are my companions to discover new places,” he says. “I carry a few around in a little box, and whenever I go out, I set up scenes on my walks. But I plan more specific scenes in advance.”

“Taking pictures of such little ‘people’ on the street draws a lot of attention,” says Renan. “Some people pass by without understanding what I’m doing, while others stop and get closer until they realize what’s going on. Once I had to cover a figure with my hand so that it wasn’t crushed. I ended up hurting my hand, but the figure was OK.”

This month is inktober!! A marine biologist I follow on IG (@marinemumbles) is holding a series of art prompts called #rockpoolaroid with a list of ocean themed prompts that I am very excited to work on! October is a month for celebrating creativity (no matter skill level) - feel free to join along on IG!

Enjoy my first messy watercolour of the month - a crab!

It’s a little late, but it’s still Tuesday, so that means it’s still Tiny Tuesday!

I hope y'all enjoy this little fellow, he makes me smile.

Happy Tiny Tuesday!

Now that I live in the Southwest I was inspired to paint a baby javelina!

Happy Tiny Tuesday!!

This little badger is actually the last page of this journal! I’m super excited to start a new one!

Happy Tiny Tuesday!

This probably isn’t surprising, but I love a Luna moth! Also, I only have one page left in this tiny art journal!

It’s Tiny Tuesday!

Since I’ve moved to Arizona I’ve really been hoping to see quail. So far I’ve really only seen pigeons, but to be fair I’ve also been hiding inside away from the heat. Since I haven’t seen any I decided to paint one instead.

Happy Tiny Tuesday, here’s a tiny quokka!

I actually almost didn’t post this one because I thought it looked a little derpy, but then my husband pointed out that all quokkas look a little derpy which is why they’re so cute. I included a photo for reference!

(Not my photo, unknown photographer)

A little late again, but it’s still Tiny Tuesday! Here’s a little sleepy fox!

My bearded dragon is actually a tiny eccentric art collector. She has all of the tiny art. The bearded dragon community is in awe of her collection, but she’s a recluse and declines media attention. As we speak, a tiny team of reptile art thieves are planning a tiny heist.

I commissioned my friends to make art because I had my going-out budget from the pandemic to burn and I am friends with and have worked with many artists who are struggling in today’s economic climate. If any of this art made you happy, PLEASE check out the creator! Many of these folks are queer and/or PoC and/or members of marginalized genders, and all of them could use any love and support y'all want to throw their way ❤️

Hi peeps, I just did a lil shop update because… it was long overdue :-]

I kinda went ham on making cushions so there are a lot of those. But there are also some tiny woven baskets and bowls, a couple of terrazzo tables, and also two embroidered armchairs (the green and the yellow one in my previous post!).

Anyway, hope y'all are keeping cozy and check out the shop if you’ve got some miniature loving fiend on your gift list this holiday season.

Hi peeps (another post so soon wowow), just popping on here to say that the auction is live for the OG mini armchair I made back in the spring.

All proceeds will be donated to a Toronto based non-profit called The Afghan Women’s Organization, which runs services for refugees and immigrants, especially those fleeing war and persecution.

Head over to my instagram to bid - I won’t be making another one of these so this is your one chance! Auction closes Tuesday, September 7th at 4 EST ✌

For the past few months, I’ve been renovating a secondhand dollhouse & modernizing it. The whole process has been documented in video, and you can catch the 14 episodes (very short ones :)) on the IGTV channel of Hunker on Instagram. [click here for the 1st episode]

The first pic is a snap of the dollhouse from the front view, and the whole ‘demolition’ process was way tougher than I expected -_-’

The biggest structural changes I made was to enlarge two of the windows (for the kitchen & bathroom) and to install battery operated pot lights for the first two floors. Wish I could include more pictures of the whole thing beyond the limit of 10, but I guess… you could just check out the episodes to see how the whole thing turned out :)

Hi guys, just popping by to let y’all know that I’m running a little giveaway over on ye olde instagram for this bebe peace lily. It’s open worldwide - I’ll ship it to you if you’ve got a postal code - so enter if ya want a lil good luck omen for 2021 :-)
