Date night! Celebrimbor brought flowers but immediately forgot about them bc he walked in on Maeglin doing work. They should really get going if they want to make their dinner reservation but unfortunately they’re now busy talking about crafts.
This is for the @officialtolkiensecretsanta (thank you to the mods for hosting!) and I was absolutely delighted to get matched with @foxleycrow this year!! Celebrimbor/Maeglin stuck out to me on your list of ships because it was a pairing that I’d never considered before, but the more I thought about it the more I liked it (they’re just nerds who deserve good things probably). I hope you like it!
That’s a wrap on the Tolkien Secret Santa 2021! We officially mark the end of our fifth anniversary exchange.
Despite a rocky start on the mod end, this has shaped up to be one of our most delightful and smoothest years yet, and one with record numbers of participation. We thank you all again so much for your support at the beginning of the event and throughout. We were so glad to bring back the Advent Calendar and to see your creations in the lead up to the reveals. Your gifts to each other have been inspired and beautiful and full of heart. We were also thrilled over your enthusiasm to join in the live events - the community that has grown around this event is truly special and getting the chance to create together in that setting was such a treat.
The greatest gift of this exchange, however, is not just the final collection of beautiful end products - it’s you.
The kindness with which you, the participants, have interacted with us mods and - from what we’ve seen - each other, is truly something beautiful and to be celebrated. Thank you so much for making the TSS what it is.
We also want to extend a special thanks to our wonderful pinch-hitters for putting in the time to make this a fulfilling exchange for everyone.

Summary:Nerdanel learns that Feanor is arguing with someone at the gates of Formenos before dinner-time, and she goes to investigate the rumors herself. (aka, how that one “Get thee gone from my gate, thou gaol-crow of Mandos!” scene could have gone quite differently!)
If there was one truth in the universe, it was that Thorin Oakenshield loved Bilbo Baggins. This fact was irrefutable; there was no denying it. Thorin had declared it after his near-death experience, then again in the Shire once he’d healed, he’d declared it in front of half his kingdom when he asked Bilbo to marry him, and all of his kingdom when they’d gotten married.
Which was why it utterly confounded him when people of all kinds kept trying to seduce him. The continued barrage of marriage proposals, sultry gazes and thinly veiled innuendo drove him absolutely mad. He was a dwarf, he would only love once, and his heart had chosen Bilbo.
4862 years is a long time to be away from your best friend. Fortunately, Glorfindel is a master at coping with unwanted feelings. Absolutely, no doubts about it.
Erestor disagrees, and they have no problems with sending Ecthelion every letter that could never be sent to him to prove their point.

Notes: Me, projecting onto Glorfindel? It’s more likely than you think! I saw you liked Glorthelion, but couldn’t make it fit romantically. Fortunately Glorfindel raised his hand and explained that he’s aroace, actually, but definitely queerplatonicly in love with his best friend, and it all came together from there!
Warnings for: General emotional angst (with a happy ending), non-graphic references to death (Glorfindel’s and others’) and to Sailing, depression, some romance & relationship talk, and the usual highs and lows of Arda Marred.
What was the question? I’ve been lost in flames too long. “Would I still love you even if the fire were gone?” Repeat the question, as I crawl into the sun. I know I love you. It’s the worst thing I have done well.
Summary: An atmospheric fluff snippet regarding Mirkwood Winter Solstice festivities. “By now the sun has set low upon the horizon, cooling the air in the clearing. Legolas finds himself leaning against a great oak near the edge of the clearing, a glass of slowly warming icewine cradled between his fingers as he catches his breath.”

Yule in Imladris: Pretty much what it says on the tin. It’s midwinter in Imladris, Elrond and Celebrían have taken the family to visit her parents leaving Erestor in charge, and Erestor and Glorfindel get to share a first (and second) kiss.
