honestly even if you are a “stereotypical” worshipper of a god, you’re still doing great. You’re a Dionysian that likes to get drunk? Good, just be safe! You’re a chaotic bisexual Apollonian? That’s okay! You’re an Ace or lesbian Artemisian who wants to chill in the woods? That’s okay! You’re doing great! You’re an Aphrodite worshipper who’s really into pink, self love, and sea aesthetics? You’re doing lovely!
Your worship isn’t lesser even if it’s what people expect. Your relationship can still be deep and interpersonal. You’re doing amazing — don’t doubt yourself.
This is your friendly reminder that worship of Artemis and Aphrodite is not closed to only women. They are not so picky that they would turn away a follower who is a man or non-binary just because of their gender identity.
If one of these goddesses reaches out to you before you realize your identity, do not be afraid that they will no longer want to work with you once they come out to you. They love you and they won’t cast you aside because of your gender.
As long as you respect women, you won’t be turned away because you are not a woman.
my pendulum for aphrodite broke today (fell a few feet from my clumsy hand to tile floor) and i am this close to having a breakdown- so! guess it might not only be time to expand my relationship with her beyond a pendulum, but ask for some advice from my fellow spiritual blogs.
i was raised christian, and still hold a variety of christian beliefs within me- but my spirituality is expanding every day. what were some of your most valuable resources when you first began reaching further into the theoi? do you have any advice for me as i tentatively take this step? if you weren’t raised with it, how long was it until you felt hellenic paganism was the right path/right thing to incorporate into your path? it’s entirely possible that this may simply be a phase of interest in my life, but i can’t let fear of the unknown deny me the opportunity to grow if that’s what i need. it’s an enormous step, reaching into a new religion- i’m approaching the idea with much caution.

My style of clothes is hardcore alternative, the only color I’d wear was green and black. Since I’ve started worshipping aphrodite I’ve been buying so much pink stuff??? And like I’ve painted my nails pink, I didnt even know I owned pink nail polish. But I found it in my room and it just felt GOOD. Idk man this is wilddd

Aphrodite is the unrestrained. There is not a single god or mortal she has not shaken the will of. Even Athena, who bares her Aegis and lifts her spear to battle, crumbled in despair for her love for Pallas, the daughter of Triton. Even Artemis, who shunned the realm of men and civilization and walked hand in hand with the wilderness, was overcome by rage for the death of someone she loved,Hippolytus. Hestia too, who holds a dear love for humanity. It is foolish to think Aphrodite has not moved them, for all gods love, and all mortals love. We remove Aphrodite’s supreme power and influence by assuming she only reigns over the love shared between lover and lover and not those of parent and child, sibling and sibling, friend and friend and god and devotee. For far too long has Aphrodite been reduced to Paris, boxes of chocolates, Valentine’s Day, the colour pink and sex. She is far more than that. Much more than that.
1. Caenis, a Thessalian princess who was Poseidon’s lover. The god granted him the wish to turn him into a man and as a gift gave him impenetrable skin. He changed his name to Caineus.
2. In the island of Cyprus some statues were found that depicted Aphrodite with a penis, these were called ‘Aphroditus’. This figure was believed to avert evil and bestow good luck.
3. Hermaphroditus was the son of Hermes and Aphrodite and the god of intersex people and feminine men. He was depicted as a winged teenager with both male and female features- usually female thighs, breasts, and hairstyle, and male genitalia.
4. There’s a myth where Prometheus was creating humans, got drunk and accidentally placed male genitals in a female body and viceversa.
