honestly even if you are a “stereotypical” worshipper of a god, you’re still doing great. You’re a Dionysian that likes to get drunk? Good, just be safe! You’re a chaotic bisexual Apollonian? That’s okay! You’re an Ace or lesbian Artemisian who wants to chill in the woods? That’s okay! You’re doing great! You’re an Aphrodite worshipper who’s really into pink, self love, and sea aesthetics? You’re doing lovely!
Your worship isn’t lesser even if it’s what people expect. Your relationship can still be deep and interpersonal. You’re doing amazing — don’t doubt yourself.
Fair Athene, assist my plight
Lift my countenance, through your vision, slated pure and grey.
Delight my soul, tethered may it be,
At your side, eternally
BEAUTY OF LOVE
this is a glamour/ devotional act to make you look and feel gorgeous and also attract love
WHAT YOU NEED:
- container or bowl (i used my wine glass i have for the gods)
- rose petals - love, protection, happiness
- strawberry leaves - happiness, love, sweetness
- rosemary - love, friendship, luck , protection
- rose water - love
- moon water - purification, protection, luck
- cotton pads
WHAT TO DO:
- In the container add all the different leaves and herbs
- Then add an equal amount of rose water and moon water into the container
- Mix them together in a slow clockwards motion with your pointer finger and focus on your intention. This is also when i dedicated it to Aphrodite!
- When it feels ready, place your hands over it and pour your magic into it. Picture a soft light slowly rippling from the center of the container to the outside (i saw it as a light glowing pink)
- Place in there two cotton wool pads and let them soak for a few seconds.
- Take one out and wipe it all over your face whilst stating your intention either aloud or in your head
- Then wash your face and do your normal routine
- Take out the second one and rub it all over your arms and chest (over your veins and arteries and heart!)
- Bin the cotton pads but keep the water until the next day and the pour it out into soil
WARNING: please be careful if you have sensitive skin
Hellenic Deities I will be celebrating this Pride Month!
- Aphrodite: the goddess of love, and sometimes referred to as the Queen of Lesbians!
- Dionysus: protector of trans/nonbinary people
- Hera: goddess of marriage
- Persephone: goddess of rebirth, I see this coinciding with transitioning
- Leto: I’ve heard Her referred to as the patron of trans men, and She is a mother goddess
- Eros: the god of love
- Hermaphroditus: the intersex divinity
- Apollo: protector of masculine youth
- Artemis: protectress of feminine youth
- Hestia: virgin goddess, protectress of the hearth and home
- Hades: in honor of our fallen siblings
- Zeus: in honor of trans/nonbinary parents who give birth
- Ares: for protection
- Athena: for protection
- Hekate: for protection, goddess who aids in transitions
- Poseidon: had male lovers
- Heracles: had make lovers
- Hermes: had male lovers
- Gaia: Mother Earth who protects all Her children
- Khaos: ultimate creator divinity
I took Dread P//rs//ph//n// seriously. I am scare
The closest thing I could get to depicting Aphrodite. Not 100% accurate. Maybe 97%.
Oh and
…. Her. Aidoneus’ Bride. Scary lady. Minus the white stuff on the veil.
Aphrodite is the unrestrained. There is not a single god or mortal she has not shaken the will of. Even Athena, who bares her Aegis and lifts her spear to battle, crumbled in despair for her love for Pallas, the daughter of Triton. Even Artemis, who shunned the realm of men and civilization and walked hand in hand with the wilderness, was overcome by rage for the death of someone she loved,Hippolytus. Hestia too, who holds a dear love for humanity. It is foolish to think Aphrodite has not moved them, for all gods love, and all mortals love. We remove Aphrodite’s supreme power and influence by assuming she only reigns over the love shared between lover and lover and not those of parent and child, sibling and sibling, friend and friend and god and devotee. For far too long has Aphrodite been reduced to Paris, boxes of chocolates, Valentine’s Day, the colour pink and sex. She is far more than that. Much more than that.
Do not weep for the temples are gone. Our faith was always a home one. Your home is your temple and you are its clergy. Your breath is your prayer. Your kind acts are your offerings. Your memory is your idol and your words are libation. You are enough in whatever you do. Grandiose was never our way. The glass of water left on the kitchen counter is equal to the lavish meal set out in their name. The Theoi love every little act, as long as it is meant with good intentions.
