Recent birthday gifts for @gynandromorph! First drawing is of their fursonas gray (cockroach) and Dupe (chameleon), and second is of the protagonist Kim (spotted linsang) from their excellent webcomic Fresh Meat, which is coming to a close soon. That means it’s the perfect time to jump in as a new reader or give the whole comic a reread! ;P gray’s comics are so thoughtfully written and beautifully executed, and every time I return to them, I notice something new that brings further depth to the story. There’s really no one making comics like they do, and I’m super thankful they’ve made so many and share them online for free. So to celebrate their bday, do yourself a favor and read their comics (after checking the content warnings first of course)!

Some fun sketches I did from Megan Thee Stallion’s 2020 Apple Music Awards performance as Breakthrough Artist of the Year. She and her dancers DESTROYED and it’s a fucking travesty that Apple put the video behind a paywall (and that I can’t find dancer credits anywhere >:[). The bright orange feathered leggings/chaps for Body were out of this world and I couldn’t stop drawing them!

We were happy… this started off a random nib sketch, then I added Miranda another day, then decided to add Thomas… but it was kind of working/not working. So I scanned it in today bought some nib type brushes for procreate and kinda sorta made it work. After 4 years, I do a trio pic. Better late than never.
Lack of regular drawing is getting me down… procrastination thy name is me. I added a bit more to the time lapse piece.

The Dead Tree Series isn’t dead…it’s been only sleeping then over the Spring and Summer it reawakened when I found the spooky woods in Richmond Park. I thought I’d post these before Halloween (don’t worry it wont be a 16,000 word tome like the first Jurassic Jaunt..ouch!)! These gnarled twisty old trees are sandwiched between the eastern side of Isabella Plantation and the Coronation…

The bean pod of Pterocarpus angolensis is a fascinating one! The genus refers to the distinctive pods: “pter” for wing and “carpus” for fruit. Called kiaat in Afrikaans, this tree is native to southern and eastern Africa and is widely valued for it’s wood, medicinal use and, I imagine, it’s beauty. This particular specimen was collected in Mpumalanga, South Africa. What a fun fruit to sketch!

More calla lilies today, which aren’t lilies at all- they’re aroids! Members of the Araceae family are commonly known as aroids or arums and have a spadix inflorescence (a fleshy stem covered in tiny flowers) often accompanied by a spathe (a petal- or leaf-like bract curving around the spadix). In monecious aroids, the female flowers are typically at the bottom of the spadix and the male flowers at the top. A number of different species of aroids are eaten around the world, including Amorphophallus paeoniifolius (elephant foot yam), Colocasia esculenta (kochu, taro, dasheen), Xanthosoma (cocoyam, tannia), Typhonium trilobatum and Monstera deliciosa (Mexican breadfruit). Usually the starchy corm is eaten, though leaves and flowers also have culinary uses.

Made me a color chart/reference sheet the other night for the #TombowDualBrushPens I’ve recently acquired. I like having a good reference/idea of what the colors look like IRL. I may have to do some weird color mixing charts too so that I know what colors combined look like, instead of winging it…

Anyway, I just kinda like how this looks. Also, I put them in an order I thought I would like, visually, rather than in their numerical ID order…
