Como ele foi idealizado pelo Centro Cultural Brasil Finlândia @ccbfhelsinki em parceria com a embaixada brasileira de lá, pudemos consultar pessoas de todos os países pra fazer ilustrações que os representassem bem. Aprendi muito durante esse processo e fiquei muito feliz com o resultado!

O livro foi feito pensando em crianças a partir de 10 anos e tem joguinhos de palavras e animações de todas as ilustrações de países. Além disso, no site também tem imagens pra colorir que você pode baixar à vontade ✨ tá bonitinho demais, gente, confere lá!

The blessings are pouring in Once upon a time eye was told and believed that all cards were evil. The island of Santiago is 1 of the 10 islands that make Cabo Verde. These islands on the western coast of Afraka are often forgotten but you’d be surprised at how important these humble islands are to us as ascendents of Afraka

Praia, the capital of CV, is in Santiago… Cidade Velha, a world heritage sight, is also one of the last places many of our ancestors who were enslaved stepped after being tortured… they were forced back onto boats and shipped in the most inhumane conditions to many of the places we call “home” today. Even lesser known is the story of Somada, the town that birthed the resistance. Legend has it that many people who were attempted to be enslaved fought to escape and settled in this particular valley which of course turned out to play a vital role in the eventual rebellion against Portuguese colonialism, and independence from Portugal

Lastly —for now— there is literally a concentration camp that most people have no clue about which is in Tarrafal, a beach city that has become an extremely popular tourist attraction. Not sure how many of them actually visit the concentration camp that was established by Salazar, the Portuguese dictator, for political prisoners who were against his regime. Many people who are from Cabo Verde don’t even know this story because the shame and neocolonialism (yes, most of the continent is still colonized just in more subtle but significant ways)… this is just scratching the surface of the POWER of these islands✨ As we kNOW ourselves we heal ourselves to FREE ourselves! Stop and smell the yesterday was day 2 of the #KhepeRAchallenge for me — STILLNESS✨ was the theme but eye really spent little time still. Eye honestly didn’t even start with my 11 minutes of stillness (yikes!) but it’s all good cause eye made time as eye watered the plants and settled at sunset☀️ Eye have been building here, literally, and organizing things back in Brooklyn from over 5,550 miles away… the average person really couldn’t even manage the share number of things eye juggle in NY alone! Eye am so thAnkhful to have the ability to handle complexity but it’s not always with grace, and it’s not always healthy. Eye grow when eye make time to be STILL eye am accepting that it has to look differently for me right now. Eye am committing to the stillness before eye take a step out of the bed. Tracking my fertility has added another interesting dynamic to slow me down when eye awaken and center me on the throne of my womb #naturalbirthcontrol

We start the day with 11 minutes of STILLNESS because everyone’s “meditation” is different. Without the weight of that particular word it allows each participant to explore and find their own way within themselves

Yesterday was such a FULL day before the full moon night☀️ most of my days in Fogo have been. You wouldn’t imagine how slow “time” moves here and how much happens in one day. It’s was day 1 of the #KhepeRaChallenge which is all about Sacred Space. Eye literally spent the day establishing my most sacred space here on the land of my ancestors
•
☀️Started the day watching the sun rise over the mountain and then walking back to find the beautiful feathers, entire wings actually, of the wild Guinean fowl.
Watered the Baobab tree we transplanted the day before. Eye also transplanted at its feet, two squash plants that eye had planted on February’s Nu Moon.
⚒Worked with the stone workers that eye hired to finish building our home here.
Eye went to the ocean, Salina which is at the edge of this volcanic mountain island. It’s one of the few places in Fogo where the water is safe enough to swim. Eye gave my offering of fruits to the ocean and declared my 52 affirmations.
Watched the sunset as eye did an energy reading for myself.
Built a fire pit at the Banyan tree behind our house, which eye now see is my shrine on this land. Eye gathered wood and then RAturned to have my fire ritual as the full moon rose over the mountain.

Eye did so much more like grabbing my clothes off the line but all in all eye was able to do all of this because eye didn’t have to worry about spending all day in the kitchen… eye had coconut, papaya, mango, collard green juiced with agave nectar throughout the day eye was more connected as so many of my cells were allowed to rest instead of digesting heavy meals✨

Full Moon in Aust (virgo) ✨✨ Eye started holding sacred healing circles in 2016, gatherings every full moon to heal the womb. Mentally preparing to escape the winter
Eye know that “going natural” is different for everyone but it pains me to see our story exploited without the courtesy of the honest representation of the DEPTH of WHY we are even needing to RAturn to our NaTuRal state.☀️ We can’t ignore the systemic presumption that European standards are supreme. This lie is still reaking havoc on the minds of millions of people today! Over 5 years ago eye cut off my hair and decided to leave behind who eye thought eye was and what eye thought made me, to literally RAturn to my ROOTS! Cabo Verde is where eye started growing back my hair without any chemicals AT ALL — no shampoos, conditioners, just good ol aloe vera and authentic black Afrakan soap! That’s why my tips are golden and sunkissed without bleach.
