White Sands, New Mexico. The desert is located in Tularosa Basin New Mexico. Its white sands are not composed of quartz, like most desert sands, but of gypsumandcalcium sulfate. Unlike other desert sands, it is cool to the touch, due to the high rate of evaporation of surface moisture and the fact that the sands reflect, rather than absorb, the sun’s rays.

Greetings!

Our tired heroes have traveled far and wide, through endless perils time and time again. They’re now close to their destination. Close to the lair of the foul beast that has wreaked havoc for decades.

Small outposts have been installed in these barren lands from time to time, though not many last. Quick fortifications are made, but they soon fall to the fel beasts that roam about.

Even the land itself seems to be tearing open, as if in a cry for help. Will the party answer that call?

Greetings!

An old abandoned mine has been uncovered following the terrible sandstorm from yesterday. The local townsfolk have taken up task of setting up a perimeter. For these buried places often hide things of unspeakable horror and strange creatures have been seen coming out of the mine’s depths.

The heroes, tasked with a reconnaissance mission have now reached the entrance, but before they can enter, they’ll have to slay the ancient beings that come out without end.

Can they make their way through all of them?

Greetings!

The party has learned from the wise People of the Sands of a hidden entrance to an old catacomb full of treasure. The passageway: an obelisk in the middle of the unforgiving desert.

The ruins that surround the obelisk are tell-tale signs of a history long past and yet the tall structure remains, almost intact.

And so, could some sort of magic be at work? Or could the entrance be such a simple task? The adventurers will have to find out and deal with the consequences of their actions, regardless of their true intentions.

This is the only word that comes to mind when Jess and I started down the Navajo Loop / Queens Garden Trail yesterday afternoon.

Arches National Park is by far the coolest, oddest, strangest most beautiful place I have ever been. These pictures do not do it justice. This is a place that must be visited to truly understand the strange beauty of it.

Jess and I started out with one of the more popular hikes to • Delicate Arch •
It was a little under 4 miles round trip. Although 4 miles isn’t very long, we were nervous with the harsh summer desert heat. With lots of sun screen and water we prevailed. The hike to the arch was beautiful to say the least and well worth the sweat. The next hike we did was to Landscape Arch, which was a quick 2 mile hike. The landscape arch is the longest natural arch in the world, pretty neat.

Thanks to my friend Darren with lots of recommendations for the Moab area. We ended the daylight with a burger and milkshake from Milts. A cool outside seating burger joint that has been serving Moab since 1954. I couldn’t think of anything that I would have wanted more after a long day.

Around 7 Jess and I decided to cruise back into Arches National Park for the sunset. We climbed half way up Balanced Rock and had front row seats on the cliff edge for a surreal sunset. Truly a great way to end the day.

I wish I had more time to spend at Arches National Park and the entire Moab area. So much cool hikes, history and beautiful scenery to check out. Will be coming back in the future without a doubt. Tomorrow I think we will head to Bryce Canyon National Park.

Cheers!

It didn’t make sense in my brain that cats would herd cows and ride horses, so instead they heard fish and ride chickens.

Following the Great Wall

Victo Ngai

From the dusty desert of Gansu province to the rolling waves of the yellow sea, The Great Wall of China stretches across much of North China, it is the longest man-made structure in the world, if all pieces of the wall were added together, experts believe it would measure around 13, 171 miles ( 21,196 km).  The wall isn’t just a wall- it has watchtowers, castles, and other fortifications with mesmerizing landscape and nature-life dotted in between. Unfold this pull-out wall frieze and travel along the Great Wall of China.
