Because I am obsessed with Spyro and very inspired by the love the artists put into the remake’s dragon designs, here is Nambroth-in-Spyro-universe. She’d be an Artisan dragon, clearly. I’m not good at mimicking style, but this is an attempt! Just for fun!! :)

Each of the aspects of nature - Earth, Air, Fire, Water, and Spirit - have draconic avatars through which they protect their element. The Guardian of Earth resides in the most ancient of forests, serene and calm, its body scarred from long-forgotten battles to protect its domain. Denizens of the forest and surrounding lands often leave offerings for the dragon in respect and thanks, and witches travel far to witness the majesty of the Guardian.
I’ve been working on this piece on and off since December; a redraw of one of five drawings from 2010, when i first started doing digital art with a mouse and an art program i don’t even remember. Here’s the original. Just over 6 years can make a lot of difference, so don’t give up!!
A big ol’ commission set for my friend Feather! I got to do some designwork and worldbuilding for the dragons in their dragon setting/story, Heart of Penumbra.
The world of HoP lost its magic long before the start of the story for reasons not well understood by modern day denizens. Dragons (and all other fantasy critters, but the main guys are dragons) have since shrunken and taken on more naturalistic appearances, losing touch with the magical abilities they once had. Things like logic defying flight and elemental breath weapons have been lost to time, except of course when our heroes stumble into the plot.
There’s heaps more but I’ll leave the bulk any loreposting for Feather to do whenever the project is ready to share. For now, here’s some little tidbits:
Facial hair is gender neutral on fire dragons and always seen as rugged and handsome even if it’s a lady dragon.
There are deep sea water dragon populations that non-water dragons never see due to difficulties existing on land.
A non-negligible percentage of earth dragons are born eyeless so their native script is dragon braille.
Air dragons are the only ones who can still fly and they have a corvidlike affinity for anything that sparkles or jingles.
(PS: if you’re trying to discern the underlying logic behind the rare and common colorations, there’s not a set “this marking is always rare” “this color is always rare” standard for most of them. A lot of them (not all) have a real animal basis and it’s usually based more on that than individual features ie peacock air dragons are rare.)
Another USD commission for CrazyBat on Flight Rising! This turned out super cute, I bit off a little more than I could chew with all those succulents and trees, but it was fun to color despite how time consuming it was.
This one’s taking me too long (I lost some serious time during the election days, not gonna lie) and I probably went a little overboard on the details but I am seriously liking it so far!
Silas, Teal Toymaker! :) This jolly dragon is eager to please. He delights in making toys for hatchlings and will talk to just about anyone about his favorite toys. He is chubby and friend-shaped :))
Cirin, an obelisk carrot farmer! This friendly fellow sells his goods in my clan market. His tertiary gene and color is a Carrot stain, which is perfect for this warm little root farmer :))
Yearner, the quartermaster of Fogbound Cove and fashion queen. Yearner reviews all goods that pass through this pirate haven, occasionally claiming the odd pearl or apparel piece for herself.
Rascal, the Pied Piper of Clan Chervil’s Thieves Guild! This coiled fellow uses mice and rats to get into all kinds of nooks and crannies. The bones that adorn him are all gifts from his tiny friends. Rascal prefers their company to that of other dragons.
This painting took around 8 hours, and I’m really happy with the results :) Felt inspired after the positive feedback I got on Dreary. Thank you guys for the support on all my dragon art!!!
