The joyofsatan.org creeps appear to be making the rounds in inboxes again.

Reminder to not respond to them. Block any ask from them. Do not give them any attention. Ignore their bullshit.

friendly reminder for those not already aware, joyofsatan.org directly supports white supremacist ideas and neo-naziism.

Don’t answer the asks, even for snark purposes. Do not begin a conversation or post them to roast them. Block and report whatever blog sends the asks and delete the messages.

DO NOT GIVE FASCISTS A SINGLE INCH OF YOUR PLATFORM.

The American Psychiatric Association (APA) is deeply worried about the US state laws attacking LGBTQI+ people.

In a statement the organization says:

Our organizations, representing nearly 600,000 physicians and medical students, firmly believe the trusted relationship between a physician and their patient should never be jeopardized by the actions of policymakers, and a physician should not be criminalized or penalized for providing care.

Our organizations have consistently opposed any legislation or regulation that interferes in the confidential relationship between a patient and their physician and the provision of evidence-based patient care for any patient. Patients must be able to discuss health issues like reproductive care, family planning and gender-affirming care with their trusted physician to determine together what care is best for them.

We reiterate that all patients must have access to evidence-based, comprehensive medical care, and that physicians must be able to practice medicine that is informed by their education, training, and experience. This includes reproductive health services and information and gender-affirming care.

We are deeply concerned that legislation and legal opinions across the country will endanger patients and clinicians by allowing private citizens and policymakers to interfere in health care decision-making. The patient-physician relationship, not politics, is the backbone of medicine.

Okay, I’ve seen a lot of people claiming that Biden is somehow responsible for the baby formula shortage. You’re looking at the wrong president.

I’ve attached a picture of the man responsible below.

It’s a fun picture of Trump with some other suits surrounded by piles of paper cutting a ribbon with a gold pair of scissors. This was to represent cutting regulations. This was the point where everyone who’s ever worked in a lab started screaming.

See, those regulations weren’t there because OSHA agents were bored and wanted to slap fines on people. They’re there because people got hurt.

These were laws that said don’t put workers around radioactive materials without hazmat suits–caused by the Radium Girls ingesting radium daily and daily. Don’t leave meat out for hours on end and don’t just pick maggots off–Upton Sinclair’s The Jungle is about the meat packing industry and how unsanitary it was. Workers have to wear helmets where falling is a risky–helmets reduced death and paralysis. Use vents and fume hoods to move gases away from workers–look at all the people with different cancer from breathing in Lord knows what. Provide a fire escape and don’t lock workers in–146 people died in the Triangle Shirtwaist Fire. Don’t dump waste into the waterway–the Cuyahoga River literally caught fire. Don’t produce medical equipment in unsterilized factories with unsterilized equipment–the Dalkon Shield caused millions of infections because it was made in a repurposed Chapstick factory with no sterilization (among other things).

These laws are written in blood.

Every single regulation that is part of the EPA, OSHA, the FDA, and the DOJ is there because people were grievously injuried or died. They’re not there for fun. You might say that this is all common sense stuff but right now Amazon is tallying work place injuries faster than a textile factory at the start of the industrial revolution. Tesla refused to paint orange lines around machines, delineating where it was safe to stand. History tells us that capitalists will put profits first, worker safety be damned.

Now I haven’t read the very, very long list of all the regulations that Mr. Trump decided was worth getting rid of. I don’t think he read that list. But I’m guessing that there was a law about sterilizing equipment for food, maintenance for equipment, and/or consistent inspections that suddenly Abbott Laboratories no longer had to follow. And just like so many other big companies, they decided to put the profit over babies’ lives.

Capitalism is the monster here, and this wouldn’t have happened if one company didn’t have a monopoly on making baby formula. But regulations were a muzzle on that monster and they kept rampant capitalism somewhat in check. With that gone, this is what happens. It’s only a matter of time before we lose another important commodity because regulations were erased.

I remember the day this picture came out, and having worked in the food industry my whole life I knew it was going to lead to disaster…

If you think that there’s been a disproportionate number of salmonella recalls in food recently (lettuce and now peanut butter), you’re completely right and this is why.

Posting in a flare of anger at the thirty years of work we will have to do to unmake four years of overt fascism is perhaps unwise.

Regardless, one of the other people in that picture should have taken those scissors and stabbed Donald in the throat before the ribbon fell, just to demonstrate that they were the only human of value in the room.

I cannot stress enough how much I love The Good Place.

The best part is that Marc Evan Jackson (who plays Shawn) doesn’t know a damn thing about Pewdiepie. The writing staff gave him that and he delivered it perfectly regardless.

Can we talk about how fucking absurd it is to actually believe that PewDiePie holds a candle to the atrocities committed by war criminals..

really? the man who is consciously introducing MILLIONS of children world wide to fascism isn’t as bad as a war criminal? he’s creating future war criminals you fucking idiot

Cite your sources, pewdiepie engages in satire. Maybe if people paid attention in school, you would know the different between being a neo-nazi and making satirical content.

We live in a world where a guy paying poor people to hold up a sign saying “death to all jews” while jews face hate crimes around the world and a person can UNIRONICALLY call that satire and say that OTHER people need to go back to school for not knowing what satire is.

Just let that sink in.

the good place has a morality system which is based on impact, not intent. by citing pewdiepie, the show isn’t commenting on if he’s “actually” racist or not; the show is pointing out that his actions put more harm into the world than good. regardless of his “true intentions,” by paying someone to hold a “death to all Jews” sign and promoting channels that support white supremacy, he has done more harm than good.

and before anyone complains about how “he raised money for charities” or whatever, that doesn’t negate the harm he’s done elsewhere (especially given the whole fiasco with his recent “attempt” to donate to adl. regardless of your opinion on whether it was right or wrong to cancel the donation, there’s no denying that white supremacists felt, once again, emboldened by his actions).

this “impact vs. intent” morality actually goes pretty well with the claims his fans make that these acts are satire. anyone who studies literature could tell you that true satire, effective satire, mocks oppressors/the powerful by mimicking them to such an absurd degree that no one can mistake what they say for agreement. people generally cite jonathan swift’s “a modest proposal” for a reason — he calls attention to starvation in ireland by suggesting they eat babies. it’s absurd and appalling, exposing how poorly the english treated the irish.

this is why pewdiepie’s actions are not satire. he doesn’t seem to be mocking antisemites; he’s simply behaving the same way. that’s not satire. that’s just being a white supremacist. paying people to hold a sign and promoting a channel are not big, ridiculous actions that obviously point to satire. using the n-word when you’re mad at a game is not satire. those aren’t big, ridiculous actions that clearly mock those who hold those views.

that’s just supporting those views, plain and simple.

and that’s the point the good place is making. even if his fans are correct and he’s being satirical, he’s still harming people. he’s still exposing people to antisemitism, using the n-word, and exposing kids to channels that promote white supremacy. he’s creating a place for white supremacists to find each other and feel emboldened to share their views with children.

so that’s what this means. he has put a lot of bad into the world, and no defense of “it’s a joke!” negates that.

PERIOD!! you articulated your point so well

Also:none of these people are considered unambiguously evil in the world right now

Elizabeth Holmes was the youngest female “self-made billionaire” ever who started a medical technology company.

Henry Kissinger was head of the National Security Council and secretary of state under Nixon and Ford and was awarded a freaking Nobel Peace Prize.

And PewDiePie is the most subscribed-to Youtuber in the world.

These aren’t traditional villains who are universally despised, and regardless, the fact that PewDiePie isn’t widely considered to be particularly evil is what makes this a joke. A pointed one.

Holmes committed massive medical fraud, Kissinger perpetuated war and crimes against humanity, and PewDiePie is an unabashed antisemite and white nationalist - who literally shared a video of protestors being murdered in the car attack at Charlottesville - for his audience of young kids. These are all people who are pretty difficult to defend, and yet plenty of people, particularly powerful people, are happy to bend over backwards in order to do so.

And this show doesn’t pull its punches. That’s a big reason people love it.

Much as the blasting of PewDiePie is important, here’s the Wikipedia page on Elizabeth Holmes if, like me, you had never once heard of her or her crimes (and subsequent conviction) until this post.

tl;dr:In January 2022 she was convicted on multiple counts of wire fraud for lying about the effectiveness of a blood testing method owned by her company – a company whose investors included, I kid you not, the Walton family, the Cox family, the DeVos family, Rupert Murdoch, fucking Carlos Slim of all people, and, yes, Henry Kissinger.

The worst people in the world tend to fly in a very small orbit around each other and attract people they deserve.

Fascism - is starvation, Fascism - is terror, Fascism - is war!

Fascism - is starvation, Fascism - is terror, Fascism - is war!

Arm up because people like this piece of shit are finding that they’re encountering very little resistance

For context:

Stedfast Baptist Church is in Texas, which is a state that has recently refused to ban the Gay/Trans Panic Defense

The Panic Defense is when an anti-LGBTQIA+ murderer tries to get away with their hate crime by trying to declare a temporary state of insanity triggered by the murdered victim’s sexuality and/or gender identity

It is a legal defense strategy that has been successfully used to turn traditional murder charges (including hate crime charges) into reduced or more lenient charges and punishments

His call for genocide in addition to the LGBTQIA+ panic defense not being banned WILL result in a huge uptick in hate crimes and murders with very little legal consequences or punishments.

This just happened this past weekend (June 5, 2022).

This is something still being called for, openly, in America, to a willing and listening audience, in 2022.

This man will cause gay people to be killed.

TRANSCRIPT OF CARTOON

This cartoon has six panels; two rows containing five panels between them, and then a final row with just a single large panel.

Panel 1

Three people stand on a city sidewalk talking.  There is “Mr. Right,” a bald white man wearing a dress shirt and a tie; a woman wearing glasses, a white collared shirt and a floral skirt; and “Ms. Left,” a black-haired woman wearing a hoodie and jeans.

Glasses has turned to her left, to address Ms Left.

GLASSES: Whats’ the worst thing you do, Ms Left?

MS LEFT: Well,.. Some of our extremists punch people, and not everyone punched is a Nazi.

Panel 2

Glasses has now turned to her right, to ask Mr Right a question.

GLASSES: And Mr Right, what’s the worst thing you do?

MR RIGHT: Oh, you know… Forced child separation, inhumane detention camps, and mass shootings inspired by the violent rhetoric of our highest elected leaders.

Panel 3

A close-up of Glasses, who is holding up a hand with a “stop!” gesture and looking upward as if thinking.

GLASSES: But if you both do violence… Then that means…

Panel 4

An even tighter close-up of Glasses. Her hands are up on her face, and her eyes are wide, as if she’s having a startling realization.

GLASSES: That both of you are…

Panel 5

A very tight close-up of Glasses’ face - her entire head doesn’t even fit in the panel.  She’s grinning too wide and sweating and looks very intense. Her dialog in this panel, rather than being contained in a dialog balloon, is done in huge, happy letters superimposed over the image.

GLASSES: EQUALLY BAD!

Panel 6

A large panel, showing Mr. Right and Glasses grinning and dancing joyously while they sing. Musical notes fill the air around them. On the far right of the panel, Ms Left is facepalming.

MR RIGHT (sings): Equally bad! Equally bad!

GLASSES (sings): Equally bad!

MS LEFT (thought): Why do I even talk to centrists?
