Just a PSA that Nonbinary Awareness Week is about all people whose genders don’t neatly fit into the binary - including people with fluid genders, no gender, multiple genders or genders that are binary-adjacent.
The first Nonbinary Awareness Week is from July 12th to 18th!
After that, it will take place annually during the week surrounding July 14th, International Nonbinary People’s Day.

My Sense of Gender
I used to feel like I wasn’t enough, seemingly having a gender crisis every other day of the week. I was hesitant to call myself “genderfluid”, because as far as I knew, genderfluidity encompassed feminine genders too. But “genderfluid”, although that term still doesn’t really resonate as much with me, is an umbrella term.
That’s when I came across “genderfaun”.
In a nutshell, someone who is genderfaun is “Genderfluid, but hold the feminine”. And lately, that’s what I’ve been feeling. Some days I feel more like a man, others I feel more nonbinary. and some days I don’t really feel like anything at all. My favorite thing about my newfound sense of gender, is that I can take it all one day at a time.
Of course, my name will always be Sly and my pronouns will always be he/they. And I’ll tell most others that I know offline that I’m a trans man, because that’s easier to explain. Besides, I’ll always feel my Gender of the Day in a masculine way.
It’s just that my manhood has an extra layer of complexity.
This is exactly what I went through.
I think I started questioning the fluidity of my gender around 2020 but never vibed with genderfluid as a label since every genderfluid person I’d seen online was feminine in some way. I found out it didn’t have to include femininity when I discovered the term genderflux and I found genderfaun soon after.
I present as a man, I tell people I’m s trans man, and I’m changing my gender marker to M but there is more complexity to my gender than just man. Sometimes I can identify exactly what parts of that complexity is but that’s fine, I find plenty of comfort in the term genderfaun so I always have that to rely on when I don’t know what’s going on.
