Being trans is Cool and Radical and Totally Tubular
It’s okay to like being trans. Heck, it’s good to enjoy and take pride in being trans.

It’s been over a year and a half since I last surveyed nonbinary people to get a general idea of preferences when it comes to language to describe us. In that time nonbinary genders have become more well-known in the media in the UK and the US. It can’t hurt to get a fresher picture, can it?
This time I’ll attempt to improve on the last survey by including some options that were missed out last time. As before, you will not be asked for your name, email address, specific location, legal gender, or gender assigned at birth.
Thank you,
Cassian
PS: Last time we got over 2,000 responses. That made the results really useful and valuable, and it’d be great if we could repeat that. If you would like to help these statistics be as complete as possible with minimal effort, please reblog this post and retweet this tweet.
PPS: I’d like to take this opportunity to note that this is just a Google Forms survey with no extra security. While no identifying information such as names and email addresses will be collected, I cannot be responsible for your privacy. If you have any concerns at all, please be cautious and do what you feel is necessary to be safe.
so a lot of us have heard about the thing in hp about the unicorns preferring girls over guys so:
picture a genderfluid student at hogwarts going to care of magical creatures and the class is learning about unicorns that day (and on the same day that student is having extreme flucutation in gender identity) and when they get to interact with the unicorns, the unicorns keep fluctuating between being friendly and walking away bc they’re minds are going girl no actually boy but girl but non-binary wHaT-
alternatively picture a bigender (m and f) student who is also in that class and the unicorns are struggling to decide whether they should approach them or not

reminder that gender cant be tidied up into some distinctive “men” and “non-men” binary. you are not truly accepting genderqueer people when you use this sort of categorical framing. bigender people exist. genderfluid people exist. nonbinary people who dont even Know if they fall under “man” or “non-man” exists. and various other sorts of gender identities. by defining lesbian as exclusively “non-men” you are ostracizing so many genderqueer people.

Since I’ve seen this discourse going around:
- if you are bi/tri/polygender and one of your genders is male, you can be mlm. If one of your genders is female, you can be wlw
- if you are genderfluid and only sometimes male, you can be mlm. If you are only sometimes female, you can be wlw
- yes, you can be mlm/wlw even if you experience both binary genders
- yes, you can be both mlm and wlw
- saying otherwise is exorsexist

There exists two metropolis cities and a main road that runs between them. One city is men and the other is women. Binary gender people live in the cities. Cis people live in the city they were born in, binary trans people moved to the other city.
Nonbinary people don’t live in those cities. Many live along the road or travel between the cities. Demi-gender people usually live closer to one of the cities. Genderfluid people travel between them. Agender people don’t live in the cities or along the road. Other nonbinary, genderfluid, genderqueer, or agender people might be exploring the rest of the world. The mountain tops and valleys, other cities, maybe even other worlds. All those places exist, though many people in the cities don’t believe them and stay where they feel safe.
