Theo: Dogs deserve to live forever.

Arthur: I agree.

Vincent: What about people?

Arthur: It depends?

Theo: No, absolutely not.

Arthur: Hey, if you had to choose between taking a big sum of money or taking me, what would you do?

Theo: Take the money obviously

Arthur: Tch, meanie

Theo: Because I’d be able to convince you to go with me with like a ⅒ of it, you penny-starving hoe. You’re like a tax on my wallet

Arthur: Well, that’s even worse, but you ain’t wrong

I think Theo from Ikemen Vampire should meet Marius from Tears of Themis. An owner and his dog

ikemen vampire: temptation in the dark

The challenge seemed pretty simple: to try to befriend the university bookshop’s most sour employee, Theo van Gogh. As a literature major with a boatload of book recommendations on her back, it ought to be a simple task indeed. But as she uncovers what lies between Theo’s pages, the more she finds it harder to become closer to him without having to put the feeling directly into words. What can she learn from Theo about what it means to stay—and how can she teach Theo about what it means to let go?

Headcanon: Theo + Artist Reader

Hello there darling! I hope you wouldn’t mind if I drop in a request? :3 I would like to request Headcanons of Theo if you don’t mind~ ❤️ How would he react to an artist reader who made art of him and showed it to him, but starts crying because they thought he wouldn’t like it? I hope this ask isn’t too much, it’s just that I love him to pieces ❤️ Thank you! @sweettangy

Hi Hi Dear!❤❤❤ Eeeeeep thank you so much for the request! Hehehe also thanks for waiting sooo long!❤❤ ❤ So here ya go……..

。.*:・’:゚・’゚゚:。’ .*:・’゚:。.*:゚・’゚゚:。’・゚。.*:・’゚: 。.*:・’゚:。.*:゚・’゚

  • You were an incredibly talented artist, and you honestly loved to draw, sketch and paint
  • (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧
  • You were overjoyed when you first came to the mansion and was surrounded by so many great figures and artists ❣╰(⸝⸝⸝´꒳`⸝⸝⸝)╯❣
  • One of them being Vincent!  (♡ >ω< ♡)
  • You had loved his works since you were but a wee lil child.
  • So imagine your surprise when you also discovered that his younger brother, actually was just as passionate, if not more passionate about art then you were ◑.◑
  • It was something you and the young Dutchman spent hours and house chatting about and bonding over❤
  •  ヾ(^-^)ノ
  • Different artists, art styles, techniques and of course, how much art had changed through the ages
  • What the younger van Gogh didn’t know was that you were actually an artist just like his older brother.  ≡≡≡≡φ(^∇^*)
  • The way Theo lit up whenever he spoke about art was downright beautiful and inspiring, and well you couldn’t help but want to fill pages and pages in your sketchbook, trying to capture his radiant brilliance
  •  ✲゚。.(✿╹◡╹)ノ☆.。₀:*゚✲゚*:₀。
  • You must have sketched his gorgeous features a thousand time throughout the month
  •    _ヘ(◕‿◕✰)
  • One day you and the two Dutch brothers were out taking king for a walk in one of Vincent’s favourite flower fields (◕▿◕✿)
  • Vincent set up his easel and started painting the lush field of flowers, while Theo went about playing with his energetic ball of fluff ໒(◉ᴥ◉)७
  • The sight of Theo tacking King to the ground and then being attacked by an array of loving kisses from the dog had your heart downright melting
  • Inspiration hit! (≧∀≦)
  • And all you could think about doing was painting the scene before you
  • “Vincent?” you tapped the blond Dutch on the shoulder in hopes that he wasn’t already too absorbed in his painting  (〃ω〃)
  • “Hmmm” he hummed back, turning to look at you with a sunshine smile
  • ✿◕ ‿ ◕✿
  • “Could I perhaps borrow some scrap paper and pencils,” you asked shyly as your face flushed red ≧☉_☉≦
  • The older brother was more than happy to share his art supplies with you!
  • You low key went to his room that night and asked if you could borrow a few more of his art supplies cause you really wanted to paint the scene you had sketched out earlier
  • This angel was overjoyed!
  • He legit set up a whole mini art studio in your room for you, just cause he was so excited to have a fellow artist in the house {´◕ ◡ ◕`}
  • So you got to painting the cute scene stuck in your head
  • Theo and king playing in the field
  • Between working with Theo and helping Sabas out around the house, you painted
  • Until finally one day your painting was complete ◦°˚\(*❛‿❛)/˚°◦
  • It was low key the best painting you had ever done, and to say you were proud of it would be an understatement
  • You were just about to cover up the masterpiece when Vincent came into your room to bring you some new paints he had discovered at some local art store
  • His eyes fell upon your painting, and he legit started tearing up
  • “This is absolutely breathtaking! Have you shown Theo yet.” He asked sending you the sunniest smile, all while marveling at the beauty of your art (´ ▽`).。o♡
  • “I- um, you don’t think he will think it’s weird that I painted him?” ( ˘・з・)
  • Vincent legit shook his head and gave you a reassuring pat on the head, “If I know Theo, he will absolutely love it!” ╰(✿´⌣`✿)╯♡
  • With the extra confidence booster and encouragement from the resident angel you decided to show your masterpiece to your dearest love
  • That night you randomly heard a knock on your door.
  • “Theo? Did you need something?” (・・?
  • He rolled his eyes and scoffed, slightly confused,” Vincent said you wanted to show me something, insisted it couldn’t wait till morning.”
  • (¬‿¬)
  • His blue eyes narrowed as he stared down at you, that is until out the corner of his eyes he spotted the covered canvas in the corner of your room
  • His eyes lit up as he made his way past you to the covered masterpiece, “Vincent gift you a painting or something?” (*◕ᴗ◕*)
  • You sighed following behind him, anxiety filling your chest as you softly spoke up, “No, I painted that one.” (^^;)
  • “You?” his piercing eyes shifted from the canvas to you. He knew you loved art, but all his days spent with you, you had never mentioned anything about actually being an artist (≖︿≖✿)
  • He moved closer to the painting hand resting on the sheet covering it,
  • He smirked over his shoulder at you, “mind if I take a look.” (。◑ヮ◑。)
  • You heart hammered in your chest as you gave a small nod
  • Theo pulled the white cloth covering the painting down in one fell swoop, revealing his own smiling, carefree face staring back at him (*^。^*)
  • The room was filled with silence as his oceanic eyes examined the painting
  • Theo was left speechless (´。✪ω✪。`)
  • This, this painting was magnificent *cough* and not because he is the one that was painted *cough*
  • Heat rapidly spreading to his cheeks the longer he examined the painting
  • He let go of a scoff in an attempt to calm his beating heart (●´ω`●)ゞ
  • He could tell you had put your whole heart and soul into the art piece and the emotions radiating from the painting had all his senses overwhelmed
  • The tears pricked at your eyes, and your lip started quivering
  • 。:゚(。ノω\。)゚・。
  • You knew you shouldn’t have shown it to him, kept it a secret. He probably hates it. Think it’s uninspired. Thinks you are a mega creepo for painting him
  • With each silent moment passing your head was filled with more anxious thoughts.  (⌯˃̶᷄ ﹏ ˂̶᷄⌯)゚
  • The man’s face gave nothing away.
  • And that’s when it happened, when you were unable to hold back the tears threatening to spill from your eyes ʕ ಡ ﹏ ಡ ʔ
  • You quickly picked up the white sheet and moved to cover up the painting, but Theo’s large hand came up to rest on your shoulder to stop you
  • “Hondje, this, this, you did this?” he was completely awestruck and overcome with emotion (◕ㅁ◕✿)
  • He turned to you, and the moment he spotted your red eyes and tear-stained cheeks he frowned down at you in confusion
  • “Ah what are those tears for, don’t tell me you’re moved to tears by your own artistry.” he teased with a small smirk  (¬‿¬)
  • He then brought his hands up to cradle your cheeks, wiping your tears away with his thumbs, “Why didn’t you tell me you could paint this beautifully, talent like this deserves to be shared with the world!.” his eyes lit up, taking on that same passionate blue flame it did whenever he would speak about his dearest brothers artworks (ᗒᗨᗕ)
  • You averted you gave, managing to speak up through sobbed hiccups, “I was scared you would hate it,” (っ- ‸ – ς)
  • He gave your cheek a light pinch smiling mischievously at you, “belachelijk”
  •  ~(。ಠ︵ ಠ@)>
  • “Ow! What the hell was that for,” you yelped out, glaring at the man while rubbing your cheek (˵¯͒⌢͗¯͒˵)
  • “Are you done barking about some nonsense, what even gave you the idea I would hate it,” he asked rolling his eyes ಠ_ಠ
  • “Because… No matter how many sketches and paintings I make, they just don’t seem good enough to show THEE THEO VAN GOGH!”
  •  ૮(ꂧꁞꂧ)ა
  • //cue Theo bursting into a hearty laughter
  • You pouted at the man, ready to cover up your painting and crawl into a hole.
  • That is until he gently lifted your chin to look into his stormy eyes, “First of all that painting over there is breathtaking, also I would be a crappy boyfriend if I didn’t appreciate my pup’s magnificent talent. Second of all… Wait, did you say you have more?”  (`◕‸◕´+)
  • His eyes lit up in childlike excitement as they fell onto your sketchbook, laying on the edge of the table ( ✪ワ✪)ノʸᵉᵃʰᵎ
  • This boy be proud of every single one of your artworks
  • He low key took that painting you did of him and hung it up in his room next to Vincent’s  (ஐ╹◡╹)ノ
  • Low key wants to start selling your art and displaying them in galleries!
  • He is never judgmental about anything you show him if anything is super supportive and encouraging about everything you do

Hope ya enjoyed this love! Sending all the hugs! Hope u have a good day❤❤❤☺☺☺

Napoleon Bonaparte:

As MC prepared herself for an onslaught of yelling, insults and false accusations from her awful boss, her protective boyfriend Napoleon was just finishing his work teaching for the day. He and MC had agreed to meet after work so that they might go out for dinner together so, he had finished up with the children early that evening so that he could go and pick his darling up from work.

When Napoleon arrived at the art shop, he witnessed a confrontation between MC and her boss from outside the window. His body moved before he could think, rushing into the shop to shield his lover with his own body so that he stood in between her and her boss.

“Pray tell, sir, what business do you have with my employee?” The shop owner smiled condescendingly, nastily at Napoleon but, the ex-emperor stood his ground, protecting MC.

“I am her protector and I’d like to know what business you have showing her such disrespect. It is incredibly ungentlemanly to mistreat a lady.” The vampire, turned his gaze towards MC before speaking to her quietly, “Get you belongings and wait outside for me.”

As MC scrambled to grab her bag and coat, Napoleon took another step towards the shop owner, his right hand resting on the hilt of his rapier, “Now, sir, I don’t wish to cause you or your business any harm, but, mistreating a lady is the most unacceptable of crimes. I’d suggest that you pay compensation to this poor woman and increase her salary … should you want to keep your reputation untarnished in the public eye, that is.”

“Y-you have no right -”

“Oh, I think you’ll find that I have every right to protect the mademoiselle and see that her honour is kept in tact,” Napoleon turned to leave, glaring at the shop keeper one last time, “If I hear that she has come to any harm by your hand, you should expect a visit from the police.”

As soon as Napoleon left the shop, MC rushed into his arms, tucking herself tightly against his warm chest. The lady gently kissed her lover’s shoulder and lifted her gazed to meet his, “You saved me…”

“I promised that I always would, didn’t I?” Napoleon stroked MC’s hair comfortingly, a warm smile spread across her lips as his hand fell to grasp her own, “Would you still like to get dinner? Or do you want to go home and relax?”

“Dinner sounds nice…”

“As you wish, my lady,” he replied sweetly, taking her arm in his own as they walked to their restaurant of choice to enjoy dinner, with Napoleon fiercely protecting MC for the rest of the night.

Theodorus van Gogh x Kathryn (OC) x Isaac Newton:

With every step she took, Kathryn turned heads at the lavish party she and her boyfriend Theodorus had been invited to. A far cry from her regular casual and comfortable attire, she was dolled up to the nines with absolutely no expense spared on Theo’s part to make his woman feel like a princess; A maroon velvet cocktail dress hugged her delectable figure, the off-the-shoulder straps framing her shoulders and collar bones so beautifully Theo swore she could be a painting. Kathryn’s hair, just a shade slightly more purple than her dress, was curled in neat ringlets and her face had been painted by a makeup artist - that Theo had insisted he hire for her - to highlight and accentuate her beautiful natural features. Although stunningly beautiful, the young lady felt a little out of place at such a fancy event without her lover to cling to as he was too busy speaking with clients. Her heart sank a measure when she reminisced on parties of the past in which Theo had drunk a little too much champagne and ended up escorting her to a quiet corner to lay his heart, and his body, bare to her.

Kathryn smiled smally as she sipped her champagne, more bubbles than flavour, hovering just behind her boyfriend who liaised with some fancy client in a suit who she didn’t particularly care to listen to, only drawn from her thoughts by Theo’s hushed voice in her ear, “Schatje, I’m a little busy,” cool Caribbean blue eyes flitted between his lover and the balcony, “Go and get some fresh air. You’ll have my attention in just a minute.”

“Okay,”she sighed a little dejectedly in response, her heels clicking against the fine marble floor until she reached the balcony, her heart dropping in her chest as she leant on the railing and gazed out at the perfect Parisian night sky. Kathryn clasped her delicate hands around her champagne flute, shifting her feet a little where she stood as the cool breeze hit the leg exposed by the high slit of her dress. The single blonde streak of the lady’s hair fell from its curl and in front of her face so it tickled her nose, making her chuckle pitifully at herself quietly.

“May I fix that for you, Miss?” A gentle, lilting voice almost sung by Kathryn’s ear. Turning around, she realised it was Arthur, her boyfriend’s best friend, who reached out a gloved hand to fix the stray hair that hung out of place, “There we go, luv.”

“Hey, Arthur,” her voice was confined to a small sigh, a mixture of sadness and relief, as she glanced up at her friend, “At least you’re here. Theo’s been too busy to even acknowledge me tonight.”

“Heartless bastard, leaving a beautiful woman lonely when she’s all dolled up for him,” he slipped off the black glove from his right hand and reached towards Kathryn, caressing the soft line of her jaw before leaning forward to whisper in her ear, “A foolish bastard too.” Kathryn tried to step back slightly from Arthur’s touch only to find herself backed against an ornate marble pillar, “Why don’t you let me entertain you tonight, my dove?”

“Hands off of her, Arthur,” Theo’s voice entered the space, commanding the air with his tone whilst the fine suit he wore was overshadowed by his scowl. The Dutchman reached out to grasp his girlfriend’s wrist, “Come on, hondje, let’s go-”

Smack. Her hand came down hard against his own wrist, making the art dealer pull back slightly in shock, his heart aching with a cocktail of anger, regret and jealousy as he observed the look of indignance that Kathryn wore. “Don’t pretend like you care all of a sudden Theo,” she spat, pushing past him to leave the party in a fit of rage and rushing out of his sight. Kathryn was still in tears when she reached the mansion, her chest tight and heart strings pulled to breaking when she pushed past Vincent in a flood of sorrow, like a moody cloud was hung above her head. Tears stained her reddened cheeks and the artist knew better than to pry so rather than console her himself, he rushed to find the only man that could.

“What do you want?” Isaac sighed tiredly, leaning against the doorframe as he observed Vincent’s anxiously shaken form through his glasses.

“Kathryn’s just come home and she looks very upset, I think she needs you.” Vincent smiled sympathetically at Isaac who nodded curtly and pulled his door closed behind him,

“Cheers,” he spoke quietly, pushing up his glasses before briskly walking through the halls towards his beloved’s room. Isaac’s throat felt tight and dry as he stood in front of Kathryn’s door, listening to her sniffle and sob, her sad little noises like a stab to his heart, “Kathryn?”He knocked on the door, opening it just a sliver to peek inside, “It’s Isaac, I’m coming in.” The second he was in the room, Isaac’s heart sank: Kathryn lay face down, her pretty face in her pillows which muffled her pained sobs. She should’ve felt like an angel in her stunning evening gown with her hair perfectly made up, not despairing as she was. “Oh, sweetheart.” The vampire sat down beside the young lady and stroked her hair, shooting her a small smile when she turned her face to look right at him, “Was the party really that bad?”

“T-Theo and I,” she sniffled, rolling over fully to tuck herself into Isaac’s warm embrace, comforted by his touch, “W-we had a fight.” Isaac tightened his arms around Kathryn, grateful to provide her some sense of safety and comfort when she nuzzled against his chest. She lifted her gaze to glance at Isaac, chuckling pitifully at herself before she spoke again, “Will you stay and cuddle me til I feel better?”

Isaac smiled sweetly at Kathryn, nodding in confirmation though, confusion plastered on his face when she removed herself from his embrace and wandered over to her vanity, “I can’t very well cuddle you if you’re all the way over there.” He watched his enchanting girlfriend slip out of her cocktail dress and wipe away her smudged makeup, admittedly making his trousers feel a little too tight around his crotch as he took in her lingerie-clad form. Kathryn’s flawless skin glowed in the faint moonlight, her smooth curves accentuated by a lacy crimson bra with a matching thong and garters, the colour reminding Isaac of the irresistible blood that pumped underneath her soft skin. “You wore those just for Theo?” He knew that his partners both had their nights alone together, much as he did with the both of them, but he couldn’t help the slight twinge of jealousy that stained his heart, “I do love him but by God he is an ass, and an idiot, leaving you on your lonesome when you look so ravishing.” Isaac stood up from his seat on the bed and crossed the room to Kathryn, taking a hold of her hips and pulling her flush against his own body, so close that she could feel the hardness laying in his trousers, “You’re irresistible.”

Feeling an unfamiliar rush of confidence fill her veins, Kathryn tangled her fingers in Isaac’s dusty pink hair and pulled at it, smirking at the needy whine that escaped his lips before whispering seductively in his ear, “Then don’t resist, Isaac. Take me.”

Without a moment of hesitation, Isaac pushed his girlfriend to sit down on her vanity and crashed his lips against hers, snogging her messily as his yearning hands slid down her sides to grasp at her plush thighs and push them apart, grinding his clothed erection against her dampening slit. The couple were so preoccupied with each other’s burning desire that neither of them noticed the soft creak of the bedroom door opening or the entrance of their boyfriend until he spoke, “Well I did come to apologise but, seems like you’re busy, hondje.”

Kathryn gasped softly, her cheeks flushing peach with embarrassment as she locked eyes with Theodorus from across the room, though before the Dutchman could leave, Isaac turned to face him, his voice low and husky, “Why don’t you join in? I think our darling needs some extra attention tonight.”

“Yeah, you’re right.” The taller vampire shut the door behind himself and quickly stripped down to his boxers, leaving his clothes in a messy pile on the floor before kneeling on the bed and beckoning to his lovers who both obediently rid themselves of their clothes and joined him there. Isaac lay himself down and coaxed Kathryn to hover above his face, blush staining his cheeks pink at the sight of the glistening arousal covering her sex.

Kathryn felt a flame of shyness flicker in her belly when Isaac brought her down onto his mouth, whimpering delightfully when his tongue circled her clit. The Englishman himself groaned softly at the taste of her sweetness, capable hands grasping at her plush thighs which squeezed against his cheeks as smug pride swelled in his chest. Theodorus leant over Kathryn’s small frame, biting kisses down his girlfriend’s neck, the scrape of his fangs against her delicate skin fanning the flames of arousal in Kathryn’s core which only provided more slickness between her legs that Isaac greedily lapped up. She could hear Theo’s thick Dutch accent in her ear, praising her as she rolled her hips and ground down against Isaac’s mouth, “Good girl, Kathryn.” Her thighs tensed and squeezed around her British boyfriend’s head, bringing more heat to his cheeks and making his peony pink eyes roll back in pleasure when she came messily undone all over his tongue, her nectar dripping down his chin. The three moved seamlessly to a more comfortable position, with Theo holding himself above Kathryn and Isaac wandering toward the desk to clean his face.

“I n-need you in me,” Kathryn panted, the aftershock of her first orgasm hitting her body in waves as lust darkened her vision, her gaze trained onto Theo, “Please.”

“Don’t make her beg, Theo,” Isaac warned softly, wiping the slick that soaked his chin away with a pristine white handkerchief, “Not tonight.” The brilliant scientist smiled carefully as he strolled back over to the bed and sat beside his girlfriend’s head, reaching out to stroke her curled hair gently away from her flushed face, “My princess needs to be treated as such.” Kathryn blushed brightly at Isaac’s tender nickname for her, smiling almost smugly when Theo pressed an uncharacteristically soft kiss against her cheek.

“Oké, but after tonight,” Theo’s left index finger hooked underneath her choker and tugged at it a little roughly, his voice a low growl when he continued, “Master isn’t going to go easy on either of you.” He shot his icy blue gaze at his boyfriend who gulped in excited anticipation, Isaac’s mind replaying countless nights of Theo roughly using his tight hole and rewarding him with intoxicating blowjobs when he thought he couldn’t handle any more. Theo discarded his underwear and carefully lined his impressively hard cock up to Kathryn’s inviting little hole, slowly pushing himself inside and groaning deeply at the way she squeezed around his length, “Fuck, baby.” The Dutchman grinned down at his girlfriend whose small hands grasped onto his broad shoulders, her eyes already filled with stars even though he hadn’t even begun to fuck her yet, “Always so tight for me, aren’t you? ‘S like your pretty little pussy was made just for me.”

Theo thrust his hips forward, the drag of his thick cock against her silky wet walls slow, hard and deliberate, tearing a delightfully sweet moan from Kathryn’s throat which made both of her boyfriends grin slyly at each other, “Is that good, darling?” Isaac cooed into her ear, tangling his left hand in her now messy mauve hair and pulling sharply, “Tell Theo how good he makes you feel.”

“A-ah,”Kathryn whined with pleasure, her sounds mingling with Theodorus’ own sinful groans and the gentle shudders of Isaac who had begun to slowly stroke himself by her side, “You fuck me so good-” she gasped sharply when Theo’s cock slid further into her tight cunt, bruising her cervix as he began to thrust into her faster and harder than before. The lady couldn’t make any coherent thought or sentence as her lover repeatedly hit against her g-spot, his thrusts becoming sloppier as he began to feel his climax quickly approaching. Isaac snaked his left hand between their bodies to rub tight, mind-numbingly pleasurable circles into Kathryn’s clit, making her walls hug Theo’s dick even tighter as a second orgasm came flooding over her, her moans surely heard throughout the mansion.

“Godverdomme,”Theo’s hips stuttered as he came, hot and sticky inside Kathryn’s walls. He panted, taking a moment to catch his breath before pulling out and turning his gaze over to Isaac whose cock was still in his hand, pumping it quickly to try and chase his own release. The younger vampire pressed a kiss to his girlfriend’s nose, her piercing cold against his lips before he knelt himself down in front of Isaac and firmly grasped his erection, “I’ll finish you off.” Theo swiftly took Isaac in his mouth and hollowed his cheeks, only needing to suck on his cock a handful of times before the physicist moaned his name loudly and spilled his cum down his boyfriend’s throat. Both men, sweaty and spent, lay down in bed and wrapped their arms around Kathryn, with Isaac spooning her and Theo having tucked her head under his chin.

None of them could keep from smirking to themselves as they snuggled up together, the comfortable silence eventually being broken by Kathryn who sighed blissfully, “You boys are so good to me.”

“You deserve it.” Isaac craned his head forward to kiss her jaw carefully while one of his hands drew soft circles against her thigh.

Theo agreed, his voice gruff and resigned, “You both deserve a lot more than me.”

“That’s bullshit and you know it, Theo.” Kathryn responded, sitting herself up and caressing the art dealer’s cheek, gazing down at him with a smile that could outshine the stars, “I love you, you big idiot.”

“As do I,” Isaac added, also having sat up, “We want you the way you are, even though you are often irrational, brash and thick.” The Englishman stood up and sauntered over to the wardrobe, grabbing a towel and wrapping it around his naked body, “Come, let’s all go and have a bath.”

“Mhm, that’d be nice.” Kathryn nodded as she got up from the bed and joined Isaac who handed her a towel of her own.

“Ja, oké,” Theo’s small smile widened to a grin when his lovers threw a towel at him, the white cotton hitting him in the chest with a dull thud, “I can’t say no to you two, anyway.”

Theodorus van Gogh:

Theo wasn’t entirely sure of what but, something felt off: He never usually tossed and turned in his sleep, his mind restless even though his body was relaxed in his warm bed. Caribbean blue eyes shot open, wide as he assessed the empty right side of the bed where his girlfriend should have been - Freda was nowhere to be seen - and Theo, a usually calm and rational man, began to panic slightly. The art dealer’s strong, muscular legs carried him out of bed and around the mansion, checking every room and asking each resident he bumped into, not that there were many awake at such a ridiculous hour, until he came up the ground floor hallway where he noticed the soft glow of candlelight coming from the ballroom. Quietly, Theo approached the ballroom and stood in the doorway, captivated by what he saw; Freda, in her powder blue nightdress which reached just below her knees was elegantly dancing around the hall without a care in the world. She was graceful, a far cry from the clumsy woman who rushed around the mansion on the day to day and her hair which was the colour of hot coffee on a cold day seemed to float in the air when she effortlessly pirouetted, the blocks of her pointe shoes making the faintest of sounds against the marble floors. Theo knew that Freda was the apple of his eye, but in that moment, he finally realised that he’d never lay his eyes on a painting more beautiful than her.

Freda’s Gainesboro grey eyes widened with shock when she turned to see her boyfriend and her pale porcelain cheeks burned with the pinkish heat of embarrassment at being watched. The lady stilled in place, playing with the ruffled cuff of her long sleeve nervously, unable to meet Theo’s observant gaze. The Dutch man approached his woman, large hands reaching out to catch her waist in his grasp and pull her close, “The bed is cold without you,” he mumbled as their eyes met.

“I’m sorry, Theo,” Freda sighed, smiling guiltily up at Theo who stood almost a foot taller than her and leaning into his embrace, her hands finding his broad shoulders, “I couldn’t sleep. Ballet helps calm down my anxiety.” She admitted earnestly and rested her head against her lover’s chest, her racing heart beginning to settle as she listened to his steady, constant pulse.

“It’s okay,” he replied, smiling softly and squeezing Freda’s sides lovingly. Theo grinned and stepped back slightly, just far enough to offer Freda his large left hand; a hand, the lady thought looked like it were sculpted in fine marble by Michelangelo himself and fit for a Greek god. Freda could see Theo’s fangs glinting in the candlelight as he smirked at her, “May I have this dance?”

“You don’t even need to ask,” the housemaid responded, placing her dainty hand in Theo’s much larger palm and stepping closer to him once again, allowing him to take her up into a waltz hold and slowly lead her around the dancefloor. There was no need for an audience or a stage as the couple danced: all they needed was the gently flickering candles, the soft twinkling of the piano from just down the corridor and each other. For as much as he was usually brash and rough around the edges, Theo danced like a gentleman, his hands on her body attentive and gentle like she were Water Lily Pond, a masterpiece to be cradled and treated with the greatest of care. There was no semblance of a tease on his lips as Theo sighed blissfully when Freda rested her cheek upon his shoulder to which the lady grinned, her eyes fluttering shut, “Sometimes I forget that you’re such a gentleman, teddy bear.”

“Oi,” the vampire felt his heart stutter at his girlfriend’s nickname for him and a blush creep onto his handsome face, grumbling lowly, “If you’re not careful I’ll show you how ungentlemanly I can be.” Theo’s cerulean blue eyes held a challenge when Freda gazed up at him, her own eyes brimming with an unfamiliar confidence which made his heart stir with emotion once again.

Standing up on the toes of her pointe shoes to gain a few inches of height, Freda whispered into Theo’s ear, her breath cool on his skin like the metal ear cuff that he wore, “Is that a promise?” The Dutch man abruptly let go of the Danish woman’s waist only to pick her up with ease and sling her over his shoulder, carrying her towards the hallway, which had the lady squealing with delight, “Oh no, have I pushed one too many buttons, baby?” She teased.

“Mhm,”Theo hummed curtly in response, striding through the mansion like his life depended on it with his girlfriend in a firm fireman’s hold and a light scowl on his lips, “You’ll see when we get back to bed, hondje.”

She thumbed his lip after, finally smiling playfully when he frowned.

“What’s the pout for? Did you think tonight would be easy for you?”

“I thought you’d be more eager to let me touch you.”

“Mm, but we’ve always done what you want,” she settled in his lap, perfectly pressed against his erection, “I’ve been waiting for ages to get to play with you like this, I’m not going to give up that easily.”

As she spoke she reached beside the bed, opening the nightstand drawer. Theo recognized the familiar toys she pulled out with the lube, remembering the fond nights when they first used the small vibrators on her, but one was new- a deep blue collar.

“Tonight’s all about role reversals, Theo, and I’m very eager to show you how I play ‘Master’.”

Theo could only look on, a confusing swirl of embarrassment and curiosity leaving him rooted to the floor and transfixed on the conversation going on in front of him. He had left her for two minutes, at most - it wasn’t enough to get drunk but perhaps he had miscalculated. Severely miscalculated, if the unsteady way you were teetering on the bar stool and the glowing blush on your cheeks were any indicator.

Part of the embarrassment was self-inflicted, stemming from the fact that even in this absolutely ludicrous situation, there he was: thinking of how pretty you looked. No one else compared to you; past, present or future. And yet, there you were, somehow prattling on to an absolute stranger on how your roommate was so smart, so cool, so…honestly, if he had to listen to a single word more, his ears felt like they would explode from how warm they felt. It was her next words that made him wish the earth would both swallow him whole but he couldn’t leave, he had to make sure you were out of this mess, after all!

Now”, your insistent tone caught the attention of the poor soul stuck beside you. “Dear Reader…you may be wondering ‘am I in love with my roommate’…are you?” The scene unfurling before his eyes was nothing less of a late night television skit, just less humorous and more…bizarre, for lack of a better term. Theo saw you narrowing your eyes at the man beside you, who seemed to be nodding. Your firm nod in response, you continued speaking. “Well, I am - but the thing is, he’s like, way out of my league. Like, way, way out. Absolute top shelf material, not like this drink. You’re out of his league, too, by the way - don’t even think about it.” Polishing off the rest of your drink with a single swig, you slammed your glass down on the countertop a bit too loud for everyone - including yourself, judging by the slight jump of your shoulders. ‘Silly girl,’ Theo thought to himself, trying his best to not actually smile because of it.

“Anyway, so I am very clearly out of your league, dude. But he…oh my God, he’s way out of our league. Is it ‘league’? Or ‘leagues’? I mean, we’re not in the same league - did I tell you that?”
Theo heard the man mumbling, as he made his way towards the both of you. You were right on that account, though - you were definitely out of his league.

Placing a bill on the counter with a firm slap, he slung your arm across his shoulder as he used his other hand to steady your waist. You yelped when you felt someone hoisting you up so suddenly but when you turned around to come face-to-face with the chiselled jaw that you had become so familiar with, an involuntary smile appeared on your lips and you murmured “hey Theo” before remembering absolutely nothing more of that night whatsoever.

When you wake up the next morning, there’s your regular hangover cure on your bedside table: ibuprofen & water. A moment’s joy crosses your heart, as you know just who left these out for you, before you realise the underwire of your bra has been digging into you for God knows how long. You’re still dressed in what you wore last night and a quick glance at the mirror confirms that your makeup wasn’t removed, either. Well, perhaps it was for the better that you weren’t too comfortable with your roommate like that.

Yawning, you walked into the kitchen and the comforting smell of pancakes greeted you. Squinting, it seemed like Theo was getting ready to head out if his habit of leaving his (already read) newspaper folded up neatly in the recycling bin was any indicator. The man himself in question stood at the kitchen sink, washing his dishes.

“Morning,” you do your best to stifle another yawn. “What’s on the menu, chef?”
“For you, nothing.” Theo never wastes a moment when it comes to retorts but when you look towards him with a slight frown and a pout, you can see a tell-tale grin hiding beneath the surface, the corners of his lips quirking upwards. He looks back at you and you only pout more exaggeratedly and before he knows it, Theo’s got an exasperated laugh in reply to you. Truly, he’s no match for you, he thinks. “Check the other side of the table.”
Reaching forward, your eyes sparkle in delight when you see a warm stack of pancakes and you let out a tiny squee, as you pull the plate towards you with both hands. “You’re my favourite roommate, Theo, did you know?”
“I’m your only roommate, actually.”
“Right, but you’re still my favourite. I feel like it’s my duty to let you know.”
Theo rolled his eyes as a manner of response. “Don’t let others hear you like this, they might actually think you’re always this nice.”
“I’m always nice,” you retorted, through mouthfuls of carb heaven.
“You’re hungover.”
“Yeah,” a soft smile graced your lips, as you watched him complete the last steps of his morning ritual, one you were so used to. Shoes: put on. Jacket: worn. Backpack: slung on. Final check in the mirror: complete. “Yeah, I am.”

It seems utterly silly to have a crush on your roommate (and the epitome of human perfection) but the heart does what it wants. You reckon you’ve done a good job of keeping it under wraps but sometimes the veneer of control slips and that’s when you’re most thankful of how indulgent Theo really is of your whims, your fancies - well, you, really. You’re snatched out of your reverie, though, when Theo calls your name from the door and you stop mid-chew to actually look at him (as opposed to the dreamy-eyed gazing you probably had been doing moments earlier. Thank fuck his back was towards you).
“We should grab dinner tonight,” he turns back towards you and gives you a smile worth its weight in gold. For a moment you’re rendered speechless, not sure if you were even worthy to be blessed with such a sight. Or maybe it’s the hungover brain of yours, lying to you.

Before you can give him a coherent reply, though, he’s gone.

And you’re still left wondering if it was a fever dream or if Theo really asked you to get dinner with him. It wasn’t uncommon - when both of you worked late nights, you both would decide to just order in or one of you would get takeout for two. On rare occasions, when both of you were still out in town, you would meet up for dinner before heading home. Realistically, it wouldn’t mean anything more than the latter but there was a niggling feeling at the back of your mind that you’d…done something astounding last night. Your one-sided crush had been on your mind all night, even before you decided to go with him to the local pub’s trivia night and as more and more alcohol entered your system, you felt your inhibitions loosening.

There was nothing different about the way Theo acted today, kindness and good-natured snide came hand-in-hand with him, after all. However, there was a hazy memory at the back of your mind and it only fuelled the precognition fuelling inside of you. Maybe it would be better to call off the dinner, pretend that you’re sick and take off from work early. That way, you wouldn’t have to-

[From Theo; 12:15pm: (location address)]
[From Theo; 12:15pm: How about here? Is 7:00PM a good time?]

That gorgeous bastard’s timing was impeccable. You glanced at your phone for a few moments, before picking it up and typing out a quick reply.

[From You; 12:16pm: Yeah, let me check the menu]
[From Theo; 12:16pm: No worries. I got a reservation anyway. If you want something else, we can change.]
[From You; 12:16pm: RESERVATION??? Wow I cannot be bound by the confines of space-time like that.]
[From Theo; 12:18pm: You’ll be missing out on what the NYT calls ‘the best tapas deal in town’.]
[From You; 12:18pm: I’m looking at the menu]
[From You; 12:18pm: Christ]
[From You; 12:18pm: I’ll be there. I’ll be there early, ok?]
[From You; 12:18pm: Everything sounds so good wtf?]

Theo tried his best to hide his smile, as he discreetly slid his phone under a folder by his laptop. Perhaps he had missed what was being said at the company’s annual meeting and maybe he has the vaguest clue on their five year plan, but he does have a date, so it works out in the end. When you show up to the restaurant, every single plan that Theo’s ever made for this evening is flung out the window. Seeing you here is not unlike seeing you back at home; you’re still returning back home after a workday but falling in love isn’t always fireworks and a-ha moments. Sometimes, it’s just how the little things add up and Theo’s never been more sure of his love for you.

However, a drunk confession means nothing much, in the end - but if anyone can make something out of it, it’s Theodorus van Gogh.

During dinner, you feel that there’s something different about Theo’s demeanour. Perhaps it was the extra compliment he’d thrown your way, or the way you felt like he was being more charming than usual. Theo was all charm and manners when he was working (you’d seen glimpses of his professional demeanour). That was not to say that he was the opposite off-duty but it was just as much part of his personality as the brusque, kind-hearted man who was always ready with a retort you’d ended up living with. Vague ghosts of the night past kept you away from the alcohol but Theo seemed to be thoroughly enjoying his meal. Perhaps you had no reason to be this suspicious.

“So…” You almost missed Theo’s voice, as you reached over to get a croquette for yourself. “What was this thing about you and me not being in the same league?” The piece of croquette that you had just bit into gets caught in your windpipe and you’re grasping for your glass of water as you try to not choke to your demise at the New York Times’ tapas restaurant of choice. The warmth of wine rushes down your throat and you’re almost about to almost do a spit-take as you realise it’s Theo’s glass you’ve grabbed.

Swallowing, you mustered your best glare towards the man opposite you as you discreetly wiped your mouth with your napkin. “What…what are you on about?”
“Just a question, only wondering.” The effortless ease which you had mistaken for charm seemed to almost be weaponised against you, as Theo leaned forward with what could be described as none other than a smug grin. “But you know, you weren’t wrong when you said you were out of his league. You definitely are. Also, aren’t you too old to be going for things like indirect kisses?” The last of his words barely concealed the laughter in his voice, as he picked the almost-empty wine glass from your hands and you could only look on, all too aware of the blush creeping up your cheeks. The worst thing was, it wasn’t even his words as much as it was…well, him

Perhaps you had one reason to be suspicious.

Maybe the wine acted as a memory reset, or state-dependent memory is truly more effective than you assumed because the events of the night before were as vivid as if they were preserved on celluloid, in your mind: the trivia night, the we-didn’t-deserve-second-place drinking (while your roommate stayed immaculately sober), said roommate went to get his car, random man at the bar hit on you, the ‘out of my league’ talk followed. You had thought that Theo was not there but clearly your alcohol-enhanced situational awareness had made the best of the situation. At this very point, if you could just allow the world to swallow you whole, it would be for the best. Your mortification seemed to only fuel your crush’s mirth, as your telling expression seemed to amuse him no end.

“God, you’re insufferable,” you muttered, before busying yourself with another mouthful of…whatever you found in front of you.
“That’s not what you said last night.”
“Stop making this sound worse than it already is!”
“Worse? I actually thought we had a pretty cute date going on.”
“Adate?” Your voice was much louder than intended, getting unwanted stares and glares from those around you. You settled back into your seat with a huff. “You said nothing about this being a date, Theo.”
For a moment, perhaps a flicker of something uncharacteristic passed across Theo’s expression but not before he nursed it back to the picture of confidence he always seemed to be. “Do you not want it to be?” There was no way you missed the clipped edge of his tone but that’s not what you were focused on, right now.
“I look like shit, why would I want to come out on a date like this?” you whispered to yourself, more than anything. Theo’s lack of response made you look back up at him, only to find him looking at you with the most incredulous expression. “Dates, they’re…they’re a mindset thing, Theo. Like, you gotta be in the right frame of mind, and shit like that! You can’t just say it out of the blue!”
Theo scoffed, crossing his arms and you’d be damned if you even admitted to yourself that it somehow made him look even better. “I’ve seen you in worse states, [Name]. What sort of an excuse is that?” Too late to be saved from that damnation, though.

“It’s not an excuse, you jerk,” you muttered in response. “I just would’ve…wanted to put in more effort if I knew what this was about.”
“I like you the way you are, though-” Theo’s words mingled with an involuntary sigh that left his lips.
You did not hesitate to counter him, at all. “Theodorus van Gogh, this isn’t about yo- wait, what?”
“I mean - what I mean to say is,” Theo paused, as if trying to find the best way to put forth his thoughts. “With us having lived together for so long, you don’t have to go out of your way, or anything, for me. You’re fine however you are - does that make sense?”
“Yeah,” you nodded. Sure, it sounded unreal, hearing your demigod-tier roommate and crush tell you these things. Maybe saying anything else would shatter the dream. “Yeah, sure. Makes sense. Yep.”

The awkward, momentary silence that followed was shattered by your cell phone ringing and you clambered to pick it up. Theo looked on, watching your expression go from concentration to concern to absolutely devoid of colour. When you hung up, he peered closer and asked if everything was fine.

“I…,” you groaned out of exasperation. “I was trying to set up a process update push notification for our clients at work and…apparently I forgot to turn it off before I left. Boss just told me it’s been sending all our clients various Spongebob memes via email every 20 minutes, I’m so…gah!” Wordlessly, you leant forward and let your forehead touch the table with a soft ‘thud’. “Theo, end me now. I cannot take any more this evening.”
“Do you need to go back to work? Want a ride?”It was hard to find his response of laughter as anything but the very sound of the heavens. Love was a funny thing, you thought for a moment. Even if he made fun of you over this for the foreseeable future, Theo would always be there for you; that’s just the sort of person you’d fallen in love with.
“No, it’s fine, I’ll get there,” your response was quick, as you struggled to put on your jacket and find your handbag at the same time. When you looked back up from under the table, you found Theo standing there, holding out your handbag to you. Taking it with a smile and what you hoped was genuine affection conveyed through it, you met his azure gaze; the unfathomable depths you had fallen deeply into. “Get yourself home and the check, if you can. I’ll pay you back when I get home, too.”
“Nonsense,” his lips pressed to your forehead softly, reassuringly. Coupled with the way he looked at you, full of endearment, made your heart skip several beats. This was a side of Theo that you had never been able to pin down before, you did not know how to respond appropriately. “My date, my check. See you at home.”

Your heart still felt like it was ready to hammer out of your chest, as you rode the subway back home from work. There was no doubt that something had changed between Theo and yourself tonight but to be able to pinpoint it seemed both simple and arduous at once. How would this change translate, in terms of your living conditions? What if Theo didn’t want to act upon it? All of your anxiousness felt misplaced in the end, when you returned to your roommate / crush / hopeful boyfriend evidently on the losing side of a battle with his sleep, the TV was nothing more than background noise. It was sweet of him to try and stay up for you and your Spongebob gaffe, you had to take a moment to smile at the sight in front of you.

In a way, nothing had changed between you two but as the days went by, things gradually began to change. Starting with minute public gestures of affection, so quick and fleeting, then explicit date nights (Theo made sure to let you know well ahead of time - sometimes, just to mess with you, he would send you calendar invites too) and finally culminating with going places together. You still, sometimes, laugh to yourself thinking back on how diametrically opposite his friends (“wait, wait - you didn’t make the first move?”) and yours (“girl, I don’t know how anyone could live with him and not want to ride-” “okay, that’s enough”) were! Few weeks down the line and somehow, you couldn’t imagine the transition being any smoother.

There was…one thing that bothered you, ever so slightly - as funny as the ‘my place, or yours?’ jokes were, nothing had actually changed in living arrangements between you two. Right, you and Theo were a couple in all respects but when it came to spending the night together, it had the feeling like trying to hook up with your college boyfriend. Which is, to say - not ideal. Realistically, this should not have been a problem but, at this point, it was still a lingering thought at the back of your mind; even when you were unlocking the door to your shared apartment.

The last thing you expected was to see Theo standing in the kitchen, holding more packing material than he could possibly wrap his arms around, which he dumped onto the floor when you opened the door. Both of you stared at each other for a moment, before you managed to put out a slightly-strangled “hey, what’s up”.
“Yeah…hey, weren’t you working late today?” Theo asked, only adding to the awkwardness that you were feeling right now.
“Got lucky. Do you need a hand?”
“A hand?”
“You’re…sorting the recycling, right?”
“Oh,” Theo looked down at the pile of packing material at his feet. “Yeah, I could do with some help, but not right now. You should just relax.”

You stepped closer to him, peering over at the pile by his feet. “Christ, what on earth have you been shopping for?”
“A bed.”
Theo’s response was so spontaneous and you whirled you head towards him. “What was wrong with the old one?”
Nothing was wrong with it. I just wanted a bigger one.” Your boyfriend narrowed his eyes ever so slightly, crossing his arms. “You watched that documentary on bed bugs, didn’t you?”
You looked away, the feeling of overindulged curiosity heavy in your heart. “I know you said it was bad - but to be honest, I may have one new fear.”
“I thought I told you it was awful - that’s much worse than bad,” Theo muttered, as he pulled you in for a hug. You could hear the smile in his voice, as you snuggled in closer and wrapped your arms around him in response.
“I’m a sucker for the awful, I suppose. I’m with you, aren’t I?” Your tease only earned an eye roll from him.
“And here I was, thinking about asking you to move into my room.”

You froze for a moment, before pulling back and peering into his eyes, searching for a hint of a joke but Theo only looked back at you with the fondness that you knew was a sign of his affection for you. “You’re…not joking, right?”
“I’m not like you, [Name]. My jokes are actually funny,” he grinned, pulling you in closer. “I just figured that - if you wanted - we could use my room as the master, like it was meant to be and we can use yours for whatever you want.”
Your smile growing, you reach up on your tiptoes and press a kiss to his lips, evidently taking him off-guard enough for him to delay in kissing you back. When you pull back, there’s a more-than-faint blush dusting Theo’s cheeks, and it only makes your smile grow wider. “Thank you, Theo.”
“‘S’no big deal.” The way his blush creeped down his neck was testimonial to his embarrassment and you found it utterly endearing. “It had to be done sometime, anyway”
Smirking, you reached up to kiss him again, quick pecks to punctuate your words. “You’re cute, I love you.”
“Yeah, I know, I-” he ran his hand through his hair, looking down at you with a wry smile. “You’re getting real cheeky with your compliments, aren’t you?”

Completely bypassing the embarrassment that he was positively radiating (sometimes, it was absolutely delightful to have the upper hand on Theo), you replied in your cheeriest voice. “So, is the bed ready?”
“Well, not quite. I haven’t finished fixing the frame yet - I’ll have it done in a bit.”
“Come on, I’ll give you a hand.”
Theo shook his head. “No way, you rest up. If you’d come back later, I would’ve had it ready by then.”
“But, I want to test the new bed.” Doing your best to feign innocence and not burst out laughing, you glanced up at him. “I can help out however, tighten a nut or-”
“Okay, okay, I get it,” Theo’s expression was stuck somewhere between a grimace and pained laughter. A chuckle followed the kiss he pressed to your lips. “I’ll let you help me out - no more pun threats, please.”
Grinning, you jokingly nudged his jawline with your fist, in a mock punch. “Smartass.”
“That’s right, I love you too.”

And the next morning, as you woke up in his arms more satisfied than you had ever felt, you had to conclude that the bed was worth every cent of Theo’s investment.

Pairing(s): Theo/MC, side Arthur/Dazai

Character(s): MC, Theo, Arthur, Dazai, Isaac, Vincent, mention of Sebas, Napo, Leo, Comte

Content warnings: one mention of a very very light implication of depression / quarter-life crisis and resulting breakdowns

Word Count: Over 50,000

Summary: University AU, Slow Burn, Friends to Lovers.

MC is just a feisty little literature major trying to have some fun in between working hard to get that scholarship she wants so she can go abroad. The more she gets involved in the local bookshop’s sour employee, Theo, the more she ends up interested in him even if she said she was only looking for a little fun. And the more Theo lets her in (and by extension, her other, also very chaotic friends) the more Theo begins to consider what other things he’s been missing out on by just offering all of him for his brother’s cause.

The two of them get to know each other through little book exchanges, exchanging their thoughts on literature and so much more without having to put it directly into words. All is going smoothly until there’s no more getting worse: Theo facing the situation–not a decision, not an option–of having his entire life working to let his brother “fly,” and now having to come to terms with having the one person he wants to keep for himself be the one he has to set off into the world.

And at the end, she learns what it means to stay and he learns what it means to go, finding each other right in the middle of it, entangled between letters and shared metaphors.
