This takes place before the Force Awakens

She was known as the gem of the galaxy, resembling her mother in her beauty and strength, with the cunning and slyness of a smuggler as her father once was. The future of the resistance.

Mae walked into the control room, finally finding her mother alone. “mother can I talk to you” Leia turned to smile at her youngest.

“what’s troubling you, child?”

“I can feel Ben sometimes.” Leia quickly turned away.

“it’s just your imagination Mae, now get back to work.” Mae reached out and touched her mothers shoulder.

“Mother please, I don’t feel Kylo Ren, the real Ben. He’s still alive, I know he’s still alive. I feel him and I know you do” Leia still refused to face her daughter, Mae slowly dropped her hand. “mother”

“You have too much of your father in you. You’re not going after your brother. I will not have two children turning out like my father.” Leia faced the girl with a stern look as she walked away from Mae.

“Moth-”

“Padmè Rose Solo. I will not have it.” Mae let out a small childish groan as her mother moved around the control room watching the cameras for an attack.

“You should understand how it feels when you know your twin brother is in trouble. No one stopped you. I’m not asking for your permission. I will save Ben. With or without your blessing” Leia sighed and shook her head as the youngest Solo made her way out of the room. She has a mix of Solo and Skywalker in her that can be deadly and she won’t back down.

“Rosie!” Poe called out as Mae passed the room of fighter pilots When he reached the girl his smile fell “what’s wrong Rosie?”

Mae smiled at the familiar nickname only Poe called her.

“Mother is stubborn-”

“Well you are her daughter!” Poe gave a laugh hoping to lighten the mood but it didn’t work.

“She won’t let me save Ben”

“Padmè, he can’t be saved. How many times do I have to tell you?” The young Solo girl kept a straight face but she felt like crying.

“None of you understand. He is my twin and I know he’s still good. You weren’t at the temple the night it all happened. You don’t understand the helplessness I felt knowing only I can save my brother and I couldn’t get to him. Whether you like it or not I am going after him. With or with out your help” Mae then ran all the way to her quarters the tears freely falling as she packed her bags.

“Rosie,” Poe whispered, “stop.” he turned her around so he was facing her. “stop.” Poe stared into her eyes. “we will find him, but this is not the way.” he pulled the girl into his arms, hugging her as the tears fell. “we will do something Padmè, I promise.”

Kylo and the Millenium Falcon: a thought

So I was watching the classic “blow that piece of junk out of the sky” clip for the millionth time and it’s highly entertaining, a meme, I understand. But it just occurred to me how deep this actually must have cut for him in that moment. Like just imagine little Ben growing up on that ship. Playing, running around, sitting on Chewie’s lap as Han takes him through light speed for the first time. Hearing all the stories of this scrappy, legendary little freighter. And then at this point in TLJ, Kylo is trying so hard to push through, to crush the rebellion and resist the Light. And that ship, his father’s ship, comes in out of nowhere. An incredibly hopeful and sacred symbol of his father’s legacy, a precious memory, turned against him. And he just can’t stand it.

(Now I’m watching it again and I feel like Adam totally understood this. We get only a few real outbursts from Kylo, believe it or not, and this is one of them. It makes so much sense.)

Thoughts on Han and Luke

I was watching the originals and this just occurred to me. I wonder if Han’s presence would have made all the difference for Luke in TLJ. The most emotion we get from Luke in the whole movie isn’t even during his interactions with Leia or fight with Kylo. It’s in the moment when Chewie walks into his hut and Luke realizes that Han isn’t with him. After Rey tells him what happens, he probably even feels responsible for his death, since he believes he failed Ben and partially created Kylo Ren. Luke Skywalker had always been the brightest ray of hope and faith, but by TLJ he had lost it. Neither Leia or Rey could really restore it, but I think Han could have. Just imagine if Han had walked out of the Falcon on Ach-to and held out his hand. Forgiving him and reassuring him that he always had his back, that they’d fight together again. I just can’t help but feel like it would have changed everything.

Rey: can I hold your hand?

Kylo: *exasperated* well that’s what I’ve been TRYING TO DO THIS ENTIRE—

Rey: *takes his hand*

Kylo: but it’s fine. I’m fine

Kylo: hey babe

Rey: what did you just call me?

Kylo:nothing

Rey: well don’t do it again

Rey:babe

Kylo:*dies*
