I’ve got to give a huge shoutout to all of you that shared with me your ideas on what to write. Here’s a sneak peek at what’s coming your way… . At the age of 4, I began begging for a horse. My mother says it’s because they made a grave mistake when I was a toddler, and bought me “Rusty” – a spring-loaded rocking horse. I lived on that horse. And as a toddler/preschooler, I had terrible ear infections. Mother reminisces that more than once they awoke to me rocking on Rusty, when I’d get sick. He always made my ears feel better. I was sold. I needed the real thing. And I was relentless. … I’ll never forget the day my mom called me at school, no less, to tell me that they’d made it happen. That a horse was in my very near future. Elated does not begin to describe how I felt that day, standing in the school lobby, on the phone. I’m fairly certain there were tears. … Butch was a super kind, 5 year old gelding. He wasn’t exceptionally educated but he was really gentle, and he had personality to spare. I think my dad liked him because when we were in the corral with the horses she was selling, he came over and nibbled at his boot. I of course was in love with all of them.
