I have to tell you guys since this lock-down started, I’ve been trying to keep sane. It’s been 5 weeks for me and the key to keeping me sane is cooking, reading and having routines. Today I want to share the latter with you.

MORNING ROUTINE

04.25 Drink 1 glass of water (1 min)

04.26 Arrange bed (2 min)

04.28 Weight check (1 min)

04.29 Stretching (15 min)

04.45 Read (30 min)

05.15 Get inspired (5 min)

Note: I wake up this early not because I want to, but because I have to help my parents at the bakery at 05.30. I realized waking up and immediately going to work makes me moody and it just isn’t the best way to start my day peacefully. Which is why I wake up an hour earlier.

PRE WORK ROUTINE

7.00 Make and drink tea  (15 min)

7.15 Workout (1 hour)

8.15 Make breakfast and eat (30 min)

8.45 Shower (10 min)

8.55 Change and get ready for studying/ work (5 min)

WORK ROUTINE

9.00 Clean workspace (5 min)

9.05 Distraction proof (5 min)

9.10 Plan upcoming work and check calendar (15 min)

9.25 First Pomodoro (35 min)

10.00 Break (10 min)

10.10 Second Pomodoro (35 min)

10.45 Break (10 min)

10.55 Third Pomodoro (35 min)

11.30 Break (10 min)

11.40 Fourth Pomodoro (35 min)

12.15 Write down what got done, what didn’t get done and follow up tasks (10 min)

Note: My Pomodoros tend to be a little longer. I have been using this technique for about 2 years now, and realized 25 minutes was too short for me. I started to play around different times, and figured I am my most productive with a 35-minutes Pomodoro followed by a 10 minute break. That’s just what works for me.

NIGHT ROUTINE

18.00 Shower (10 min)

18.10 Skin care (5 min)

18.15 Change clothes and pamper (10 min)

18.25 Clean bedroom (10 min)

18.35 Choose clothes for tomorrow (5 min)

18.40 Make and drink tea (5 min)

18.45 Write in Journal (15 min)

19.00 Log info to Samsung Health (10 min)

19.10 Listen to Podcast (40 min)

19.50 Meditate/ Breathing exercises (10 min)

______________________________

So that’s how I spend my days. Sometimes, I won’t do all 4 Pomodoros because I don’t have much to do. I do try not to work after 1PM, I like having my afternoon free to do what I want to do. Maybe I want to draw, or read, I also do some gardening around 5PM, but I just do things that I feel like doing. I’ve been doing this for about 2 months, and I honestly feel much better. Hope you guys get some inspo out of the routines that I have!

If you guys want to share your routines, feel free to do so and tag me! I really want to read what your routines are like!

A few study photos to get inspired both for me and you because it’s too hot and the weather is full of pollens. I’m slightly dreading reading Kierkegaard, not because I won’t understand but it’s so chunky and I’m not sure which parts I would use. But let’s dig into it for the next couple of days since my supervisor is ignoring me (yet again). It’s kinda nice to do my own research alone because I feel like I know the concepts I’m writing on better. But writing in my native language is a tricky job since I’m mostly talking and writing in English, which is also deteriorating. Wow okay, it seems like I’m full of anxiety but I’m also not. I’m living in a paradoxical study mood.

Anyway i hope this excites someone to complete their daily tasks!! :)

Friday Setup and Morning Bullet Journalling

It’s obviously not morning anymore. I’ve forgotten to write down the films and tv series I’ve watched this month but there were a lot of interesting ones I’ve seen like The Batman. I’ll maybe share the reviews here when I manage to write on my blog. I’ve been studying on my desk for really long

Greetings everyone!

I was thinking about this post for a while, and I wasn’t entirely sure how to do it. I don’t have a specific routine, so this is more of a “what I like to do in the morning to take it chill and not start schoolwork before way later than I should”. You still with me? Let me take you through it then.

Unless I have specific plans for the day, I don’t set an alarm. The weekend is the only two days where I get to enjoy waking up when I want, and I take full advantage of that. However, I still wake up between 9 and 10 am most days. When I finally gather the courage to let my arm escape the cocoon of my duvet and turn on the light, I usually look a little something like this. I usually don’t smile this much though, as I can be a bit grumpy in the morning.

image

The first thing I do, sometimes even before turning on the light, is grab my phone and start my scrolling through social media. As I live in Europe basically everything on my social medias happen while I’m asleep, as I seem to only follow Americans. Oh well. The social medias that I check are Instagram, Twitter, Youtube and Tumblr. In fact, one of my favourite things to do on lazy weekend mornings is to watch youtube videos for hours, especially while eating breakfast and just lazing in bed. One of my favourites these days is Essiebutton and her vlogs.

image

When I finally manage to tear myself away from my phone, I usually grab my bullet journal and look over the list for today, which I have a habit of making the day before. This way I know what I’ve got to do, which blog post I’m writing and if I have any plans for the day. This is super helpful so that I actually know what to do when I get my arse out of bed and start working.

image

On Saturdays I always put up a blog post, and that usually gets written in the morning that day, before I get out of bed. Pictures I usually take either the day before, or later in the day, depending on how much time I have and all. But either way, the blog post mostly gets written before I do much, except if I get hungry enough to trot into the kitchen and get breakfast started. If I get properly hungry in the morning I get extremely nauseous, and that is just not the best way to start the day.

image

Eventually I bring myself to get out of bed, grab my computer and move to the kitchen. Sometimes I bother to change out of my pyjamas for this, sometimes not. For breakfast I usually just have a slice of bread with something on it and some tea, because that is how simple Norwegian breakfasts mostly are. However, today I actually had cereal and just made tea as usual.

image

And as I’m not going to start my work for today, I think that marks the end of my morning routine. Of course I also brush my teeth and maybe get dressed, but you know, I don’t need to show you that.

So what do you guys do in the morning? I’m curious!

warm + productive things to do in the morning

1. drink water. as soon as you wake up or after you wash your mouth. it gets your metabolism going and makes you feel more energized.

2. revel in peaceful isolation. it’s so quiet at dawn. and somehow, the darkness isn’t as daunting as it is at night. you can detach yourself from the world since it’s still asleep, but you don’t feel lonely, just.. grounded.

3.meditate. you can either go classic ‘clear your mind’ like training to ward of a Legilimens or follow guided meditation via podcasts/videos. it’s perfect because no one’s awake to bother you.

4.write morning pages/journal. to me, this is like meditation but instead letting your thoughts bubble up to the surface and flow onto paper. it gives your day a sense of direction, too.

5.exercise. run outside. run around your house. run in place. do jumping jacks. get your blood pumping. stretch. pop the kinks out of your bones. crack your muscles like a glow stick.

6.make yourself some tea. or coffee, if you’re more into that.

7.prepare a decent breakfast. make it protein-rich. it’s your fuel, after all.

8. watch the sun rise. nothing beats waiting for the sun to peek into the horizon and saying, ‘guess who finally decided to show up.’ (also, pretty colors.)

9.take a walk. preferably once the sun’s up. unless you’re neighborhood’s safe af.

10.cuddle with your SO. could be your sibling/s. could be your cat or bunny. could be your Kaneki body pillow.

11.read a book. or a fanfic. just a couple of chapters. make sure it’s something that motivates/inspires you or gives off positive vibes because it’ll set your mood.

12.clear your space. light a candle or diffuse some citrus or mint to 'clear the energy’ around you or just to freshen your environment up a bit. start putting things away. sweep the floor. (make your bed.)

13.spend extra time on grooming. you have the time–use it. exfoliate. bathe in moisturizer. style your hair. make at most 3 outfit changes until you’re comfy and confident.

14.watch a video that motivates you. i suggest TED Talks, lifestyle gurus like Lavendaire and Rowena Tsai on YT, and 'Get Productive With Me’ vlogs.

15.plan. make an overview of the day, if you don’t have one yet. set clear intentions and specify your priorities so your day has more direction.
