“No matter what people tell you, words and ideas can change the world” — Dead Poets Society

Here’s a recently decorated study corner. I’ve been feeling a bit autumnal again, even though it’s the hottest week ever. I’ve started watching Mary Shelley last week which reminded me of how much I loved my old minimally chaotic study setups.

I’m still reading Piranesi and There’s No Such Thing as an Easy Job because I’ve been in a slow reading mood. Although they’ve got completely opposite themes, the study of a person is the main connection between two reads. Both main characters deliberate over the approaching dangers.

Enjoy your Mondays!

Wishing all of you a soothing Sunday with lots of happiness!
I went for a walk to grab an iced bubblegum latte today, which tasted pretty good to be honest. Then did swim a little bit in the pool at our place, so now it really feels like summer has begun.

A few study photos to get inspired both for me and you because it’s too hot and the weather is full of pollens. I’m slightly dreading reading Kierkegaard, not because I won’t understand but it’s so chunky and I’m not sure which parts I would use. But let’s dig into it for the next couple of days since my supervisor is ignoring me (yet again). It’s kinda nice to do my own research alone because I feel like I know the concepts I’m writing on better. But writing in my native language is a tricky job since I’m mostly talking and writing in English, which is also deteriorating. Wow okay, it seems like I’m full of anxiety but I’m also not. I’m living in a paradoxical study mood.

Anyway i hope this excites someone to complete their daily tasks!! :)

What I mean when I say cosy minimal dreams

My wardrobe has become a portrayal of modernised folk/traditional clothes. I never realised it was possible to play around with cultural clothes in a completely new way. I’m acquiring a new perspective in my life this year, which would have completely mind blown high school me!

QOTD: Do you have any favourite Romantic poets?

A few photos from 2020 and last year reminded me of Little Women’s themes. Sometimes I dislike reading 19th-century novels because they remind me of modern times so much but that’s also not really true. There’s so much more to 19th-century literature and society than just the vanity fair. I’ve been always drawn to how Romantic poets represented the sublime, especially the difference between science and human nature.

Have a peaceful Monday
PS: Did we just hit 600 here? Waow, i’m getting shocked every week by how many people have joined me here. I’m really getting excited to share a few more study setups and my academia looks.

Me matching my books vol 2 (836148763871) and a new handmade crochet top from mum

The weather is so sunny again which is turning me into an energetic person but I kept having odd dreams. So I feel as if I’ve barely slept. I’m just super unlucky with sleeping at this point. On a positive note, I may have hit my 20th page of my thesis!!! Lately, I’ve been working on Scandinavian history because it’s where the film I’m analysing is set. I’m definitely not an expert on that location but I remember some useful information from Anglo-Saxon classes. Let’s see where it goes…

Wishing you a lovely May!

Monday Morning

I’ve been reading There’s No Such Thing as an Easy Job aside my thesis research but I’m honestly not sure what I’m doing at the moment. I worked yesterday a bit on Medieval Scandinavia section since I know more about the history of Anglo-Saxon language in Medieval England. So I was trying to think of ways on how to include within my thesis. I might be pushing myself too much to include everything or learn what I don’t know but it’s a pitfall. I’ve forced myself a bit too much that I didn’t work at all for a few weeks except a few days. So anyway, today I’m supposed to find a title for my thesis so I can contact my supervisor. To conclude my personal rant, I’m trying to work more efficiently instead of forcing myself to work.

Wishing all of you a cosy sunny week and month!

Friday Setup and Morning Bullet Journalling

It’s obviously not morning anymore. I’ve forgotten to write down the films and tv series I’ve watched this month but there were a lot of interesting ones I’ve seen like The Batman. I’ll maybe share the reviews here when I manage to write on my blog. I’ve been studying on my desk for really long

Fence Series by C.S. Pacat and Johanna the Mad

Nicholas Cox is a sixteen-year-old and an outsider in the fencing world but miraculously he ends up at Kings Row after losing a match to the prodigy fencer Seiji Katayama. What lies ahead of him is a challenging quest to fix his bad technique while learning to be friends with other fencers.

I really loved the drawing style of Johanna the Mad and the straightforward writing style of Pacat let the story flow. I didn’t even realize I was at the end because I kept losing myself in the story. Seiji’s horrible friendship skills and Nicholas’s obsession with trying to beat the best player in the fencing world created a sort of hilarious moments as well as irritating arguments. But that all made the story even better. The other characters in the school were too colourful and from different backgrounds, so there was a sense of mesmerising diversity.

If you’re feeling like reading an lgbtq+ graphic novel after Heartstopper, this one’s worth checking out. I’m madly waiting for the next volume.

Taking a mini break from my thesis to review a few books but this one’s first. After rereading and rewatching Heartstopper, I felt like I was in need of a new graphic novels and this was the perfect choice. Looking forward to reading a few more lgbtq+ books this spring!

Heartstopper Flowers

I’ve been obsessing about the book and series over on instagram, so why not share them here too.
My Heartstopper love started back in 2020 but I rarely read YA novels and graphic novels, so I never thought of sharing too much but oh my I fricking loved the series and how perfect the entire cast is. The tiny changes made it so perfect in the series as well because it fits more to live action. I don’t know how to wait for the second season (if they’re planning and i sure think they do).
