I’ll probably do at least a few more, I’m going for a swap where at least ½ is in the body of the person they’d *least* want to be (I think this would replace the third motive)
Kokichi and Maki are rather obvious
Shuichi and himiko, well himiko does not like doing things and Shuichi is the protag so everyone goes to him for everything (which continues after the swap and himiko has to keep reminding people she’s not him)
And well shuichi doesn’t really want anyone in his body or to be stuck in a person that’s fem presenting (dysphoria tm) but honestly overall it’s definitely more to upset himiko than him

1. They’ve been lied to. Someone has convinced one or both of them of something untrue about the other.
2. Different moral compasses. Just because they’re both protagonists doesn’t mean they have the same beliefs.
3. Complicated History. (This is where you get your love triangles, and your “exes with unresolved feelings,” but you could also go with any sort of family or friendship complication.)
4. Different end-goals. They might be on the same path, but if they have different visions for what’s at the end of that path, that could cause problems.
5. Different backgrounds. This is the exact opposite of Complicated History: They have no personal history with each other, but come from such different situations that they automatically see each other as enemies.
6. Personality clashes. If one is, for instance, a huge flirt, and the other sees that as unprofessional and a waste of time, they wouldn’t get along well.
7. Secrets. One or both are hiding something, and it creates tension between them.
