The silence about the #MuslimBan from Republican leaders - many of whom condemned such an idea during the GOP primary - is deafening.

House Speaker Paul Ryan’s Tweets are blathering on about the Obamacare replacement plan that they STILL haven’t devised, despite 7 years of promising it.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s Tweets are about abortion and the Supreme Court - but since Donald J. Trump is in the midst of undermining a federal judge checking and balancing the executive branch, I feel like this is a moot point.

Fortunately, John McCain is decent enough to speak out.
But then I remembered, he’s the one who unleashed Sarah Palin on us - and consequently, sent the GOP on this disaster course of lunacy

Remember, folks, the primaries for the midterm elections are only a year away! ✋

Get involved - Vote these pussies out!

hellotailor:

Hundreds of people are rallying outside JFK airport to protest against Trump’s muslim ban. Here’s a statement of support from the New York Tax Workers Alliance:

“Our 19,000-member-strong union stands firmly opposed to Donald Trump’s Muslim ban. As an organization whose membership is largely Muslim, a workforce that’s almost universally immigrant, and a working-class movement that is rooted in the defense of the oppressed, we say no to this inhumane and unconstitutional ban.”

To people asking “Where is the ‘pro-life’ side fighting for Syrian refugees, immigrants, etc.”: When will you realize that “pro-lifers” view pregnancies as punishment for having sex and don’t care about lives at all? When will you learn that “Pro-Life” is and always has been as empty a political euphemism as “All Lives Matter” for which you keep falling hook, line, and sinker?

More than 100,000 visas have been revoked because of Trump’s Muslim ban

  • More than 100,000 visas have been revoked because of Trump’s executive order banning the citizens of seven majority-Muslim countries
  • This means that far more people have been affected by the policy than Trump, or his administration, have been willing to admit.
  • Speaking in a Virginia federal court on Friday, an attorney for the U.S. government revealed the actual number — more than 100,000 visas have been revoked, the Washington Post reported.
  • One reporter said that there was an “audible gasp” in the courtroom when the lawyer for the government gave the figure. Read more

Refugees unlawfully detained in airports after Trump’s immigration executive order

  • On Friday, President Donald Trump signed an executive order suspending the nation’s refugee settlement program and barring immigrants from countries with “would-be terrorists,” namely Iraq, Syria, Iran, Sudan, Libya, Somalia and Yemen.
  • The executive order went into immediate effect, meaning refugees on planes to the United States landed in a nation newly hostile to their presence.
  • Though they were given permission to settle here by the U.S. State Department, after a long, complex vetting process, they are now being detained in U.S. airports, waiting for news of their fate. Read more.

Donald Trump names Reince Priebus chief of staff and Steve Bannon as counselor

Donald Trump made one of the most significant initial choices regarding the composition of his future presidential administration choosing Republican National Committee chairman Reince Priebus as his future chief of staff and appointing former Breitbart chief executive Stephen Bannon as special counselor. Trump’s statement regarding the appointment is chilling.

It’s going to get worse.

Yeah. Much worse.

If you have already called your representatives about Trump’s executive order banning people from 7 predominately Muslim countries from entering the US (with exceptions for Christians, of course), here’s some additional comment lines to try.  I haven’t called these numbers myself yet, but they seem like a good starting point:

  • DOJ comment line (comments may be directed to the new pro-ban Acting Attorney General, Dana Boente, who replaced Sara Yates after she was fired for “betraying” the DOJ by refusing to defend the ban):202-353-1555
