We all have dreams and something to tell. This is my dream, please don’t ignore, share and support me.

I just published my FIRST book “Líneas del corazón” (Heartlines), you can find it on Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/-/es/dp/1653833521/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_t1_WvbeEb2WNS54P) in paperback (15usd) or e-book (9.99usd) you just need to download Kindle to read it. What I’m asking is your support, please help me sharing this link with your friends, family and acquaintances.

I’m on my own, so I don’t have someone doing all this publicity work. For now  it’s only in Spanish, but I hope soon will be also in English. I hope you can get it and read it.

I don’t think this is the typical love story, I believe that it’s more about achieving your goals or dreams, to overcome obstacles and yes, fall in love, because that’s part of life.

Description:

The only thing clear in Olivia Breen’s mind and heart is the dream she has had since she was five years old, to be part of The Royal Ballet and become a prima ballerina. The road is not easy, so she will have to work hard to achieve her goal and especially not to be distracted by the presence of Sebastian, her best friend. Will Olivia concentrate on fulfilling her dream or will she abandon it for staying in Brooklyn with Sebastian?

So, I have this christmas style nutcracker as a part of this season’s decoration in my house

I basically made him a real human (originality/100) because as a wooden toy he freaks me out

A Very Merry X’Mas from Mixc and Me!

Victo Ngai

The inspiration behind this Christmas image was “gifting” as it has long been the heart of the holiday. The title of this piece is “Mixc Christmas Workshop”, a reference to the Santa’s workshop, we see Mixc Elephant giving the Little Girl a behind-the-scenes VIP tour. Instead of depicting the “exchanges”,  I want to focus on the “making” of gifts, as the best gifts are those which much thoughts, love, and care have been put into. I believe a great gift is also one that’s tailored specifically to the recipient,  therefore the tour the Little Girl is an exclusive one. If you look closer, you will see that she’s the only human in this image. Perhaps somewhere in a parallel dimension, another Mixc Elephant avatar is giving another kid a bespoke tour. Contrasting the launch image of Mixc World, which showcases a community of shared happiness and festivities, this one is about the intimate individual experience and relationship with the space.

To capture the sense of wonder and magic of Christmas , I worked with the idea of “infinite possibilities”, represented by the box within the box within the box and the multiple Mixc Elephants and Little Girls.

Elephant and little girl is main characters in the opening image of Mixc World, It is my intention to create a series of narration with reoccurring characters through the 3 consecutive Mixc World campaigns, I hope Mixc Elephant and Little Girl will become familiar friends with the audiences, and that audiences can partake in this visual journey.  Besides the familiar faces, many themes and ideas are carried over to this image from the launch image. For examples, the stripe motif is present here to sustain the impression of a continuous world. The idea of “all is in one, one is in all, infinite possibilities” lives on, with the Mixc Elephant being both outside and boxes and inside the boxes.  And of course, the sense of curiosity, wonder and fun set the tone for both of these pieces.

I left 13 elephants as Easter egg of the image in the Mixc World Launch  image. This time, rather than hiding elephant motifs in the image, I have given nods to some beloved Christmas icons, such as the Nutcracker, the Radio City Rockettes, the Light of Bethlehem, The Polar Express, Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer, Santa’s helpers, Christmas’ candles at the window, peppermint cane.

Walnuss but in a king size edition (?)

We spoke with soloist Florimond Lorieux about joining a new company, his Boston Ballet Nutcracker debut, and what it’s like moving from Paris to Boston.

Are you excited about dancing in Mikko’s The Nutcracker for the first time?

I am very excited about dancing for the first time in Mikko’s The Nutcracker. His version is so beautiful. I have already watched it many times on screen to work on it and I must say that this production is amazing. Sets and costumes are gorgeous and you feel all the spirit of Christmas during the whole ballet.

I have already danced The Nutcracker with the Paris Opera Ballet, but I can feel that here in America The Nutcracker is quite a holiday traditional rendez-vous. I can’t wait to be a part of it!

What roles are you learning?

I will dance the Pastorale which is well-known as a French style dance during the divertissement in the second act. I will also perform the Prince/Cavalier, which excites me so much. I start rehearsing the role this week.

image

What do you want audiences to feel or take away when they come to see you perform?

Many children will come and see The Nutcracker. For most of them it will be the first time they can enjoy the magic of a ballet. For a few of them it might be the beginning of a new passion. And I want to dance for them.

Will your family be joining you from France?

My mum will come, and I am so happy that she can see me on the Boston Opera House stage. I can’t wait to help her discover what I already know of the city.

How do you like Boston so far?

To me, Boston has all the positive aspects of a European and American city. I have felt very good here since the very first day I arrived to audition.

How has it been joining the Boston Ballet?

After spending the last 20 years with the Paris Opera Ballet (school included), joining a new company has been easier than I expected, thanks to the warm welcome of dancers and artistic staff.

Yurikago ni hana ippai

A cradle full of flowers

月影がドア叩く

Tsukikage ga doa tataku

Moonlight knocks on the door

人形達が目を覚ます

Ningyōtachi ga me o samasu

The dolls are awaken

影絵の夜

Kage no yoru…

On the night of the shadow play…

Palace of the princess

Deeply dreaming

Midnight minuet

As she is sleeping

Clara, take my hand

Hear the music

Now the dance of the dolls has begun

And in the moonlight

You minuet

Dancing along

In your first pirouet

This is the dance of the dolls

And it’s all for you…

Lilies in the night

Move in shadow

Knocking on the door

Calling Clara

Clara, take my hand

Hear the music

Now that the dance of the dolls has begun…

And in the moonlight

You minuet

Dancing along

In your first pirouet

This is the dance of the dolls

And it’s all for you…

Lilies in the night

Move in shadow

Knocking on the door

Calling Clara

After so many years, I finally found back the stop motion film and the song. Since I’ve only watched the film once, when I was like 4 or 5, the memory of it is almost completely forgotten and all felt just like a dream. I even think the film never even exist and it could had just been my imagination lol But I’m glad stumbling old stuff on youtube triggered some of my childhood memory that normally I should have at least remember some more of it. Bless the youtube community.

So I’ve been searching for the lyrics, but I didn’t found any with the japanese opening of the songs. So I did my best with the japanese lyrics and translating it based on the youtube video I attached in this post. If I did any mistakes, do correct me, I will correct the lyrics in this post. Anyway, hope y'all can enjoy singing along with the lyrics.

Video Credit to the Australian Ballet

Great tips and tricks from various dancers of the Australian Ballet. They all have their own personal methods of caring for their feet, and this video is really helpful to gain some information on different types of feet.

Personally, I use methylated spirits to harden the skin on my feet, especially for long rehearsals when your toes may get sweaty, causing the formation of blisters.

Ouch Pouches are great, especially when you are beginning pointe, and it makes the pain of sore toes bearable (somewhat). Ouch Pouches can be purchased from almost any dance store, costing about $30-$40, depending on the quality you want them to be. If you’re not a fan of being $40 poorer, a good little cheat is to buy some cheap socks, and cut the ends of them and put them on your feet. I sometimes put of two 3 on each foot! Much cheaper, but they aren’t as effective and sometimes soak up sweat. Which leads into my next tip….

Tissues in your pointe shoes.
Sounds crazy, I know, but if you put them in the right place, they could assist to soak up the moisture from long periods of dancing on pointe. I’ll only do this once or twice a week, for rehearsals that go for like 2-3 hours, but if they aren’t put in the correct place (differs for each dancer) they can be a real nuisance. Also, beware that you do not leave them in your shoe. Take them out immediately when you’re done, and throw them out. They could harden up, and if you wear them again and again, maybe even misshape your foot.

Also for prolonging the life of your shoes, never put them together in a dance bag after. As much as it may disgust your nose as well as others’, leave them in a locker or other room to air out. The sweat from your feet could soften the paper mache that the shoe is made out of, and soften it.

With bandaged your feet, I always tape my little toes and big toes as they are where I get the most blisters. These are places that ub the most and get the most sweat, so make sure they are tightly covered and definitely NOT with plastic band-aids. The plastic traps the sweat in and also, they just fall off way to easily. They are good to cover broken toenails, but worsen blisters. I use Elastoplasts Leukofoam. It is an exceptionally sticky medical tape, designed with padding/foam which is 100x better than the comfort of a bandaid. Do not put it straight on a blister, so if you do get a blister and need to cover it, I recommend putting a slither of medical gauze in between your blister and the take separate the glue and your blister which could be REALLY painful when you pull it off.

DO NOT PAINT YOUR TOENAILS. This could cover a discolouration in your nails that indicate an infection or bruised toenail that would require immediate attention if you do not want a fungal infection, ingrown toenail, or even a toenail just dropping completely off. Dancers particularly need to wash their feet to prevent infections and warts. If you do get an infection in any of your toes, seek help immediately, as it will only get worse. There are plenty of products to help in most pharmacies.

If you get a blister, pop it and let it air. Dry blisters are considerably less painful. Wear thongs (or flip-flops whatever you call them) to help this, and don’t sleep with socks on.

Other than that, just enjoy pointe. At least make all the pain worth it.

Justine Summers, in a shoot for The Australian Ballet’s ‘Divergence’in 1994. Houston Ballet’s Artistic Director, Stanton Welch was the choreographer for this strong and provocative ballet. The tutu featured in this photo, is made entirely of old car tyres. This picture was seen all over the cities of Melbourne and Sydney on billboards and posters. Her energy is presented through every muscle in her body, every angle in her line and of course, channelled through her eyes.
