#oddities
Well, I committed to the thing. I bought the sibling capsule vending machine to @nonasuch ’s, after almost a month of waffling about it. The goal is to have a cross between a wunderkammer and an automat. Black light. Potentially cursed toy surprises… “toy” being a flexible term.
If any of this sounds cool to you, and you’d like to help with set-up costs, donations are appreciated! Paypal.me/strangehours with whatever works. (I lost my income source for this month, so I’m left to pull it together by bits and pieces instead of all at once.) <3
A cursed object vending machine possibly the most absurd thing I’ve done for my business yet, but I’m fairly certain that the ability to release serotonin is the real selling point here.
so excited to see how yours turns out! and very glad to have more weird vending machines in the world
Ooh, sweet! As if I need more reasons to order patches and pins … all of these potential objects look amazing, like things to work into pieces of jewelry and spell foci.
Can I just…like…pay you to ship me one of each?
@deliriumcrow - Etsy only offers up yea so much potential cursed-object-toy-surprises in bulk lots, but it’s a good starting point for a mood board. The minerals choices are curated to my own tastes I must admit, but it’s not complete. My list of an ideal mix has more of a mudlarking vibe to it, or maybe a really good cache of things a crow has been hoarding. (Weirdly, if you make a blind box fancy enough, people will want one just to know what’s inside.)
@daemonvatis - I’d have to do a cost estimate of how many eggs would be feasible to stuff in a box before it’d be worth it to pay for shipping? (I have not ordered eggs yet, see previous “I have to pull it together in bits & pieces.”) If you’re in the US, I will have the Cursed Object vending machine at my Oddities & Curiosities Expo gigs this year. Probably easier to seek it out in person if that’s available to you. Strange Hours Atelier will be at the following:
- Oddities & Curiosities Expo Charlotte, NC | Feb 26th
- Oddities & Curiosities Expo Chicago, IL | Apr 2nd
- Oddities & Curiosities Expo Columbus, OH | Apr 30th
- Oddities & Curiosities Expo Detroit, MI | July 16th
- Oddities & Curiosites Expo Richmond, VA | August 13th
- Oddities & Curiosities Expo Buffalo, NY | August 20th
I may have other pop-ups more local to my HQ in Pittsburgh throughout the year, but those are much shorter notice. Uh. Stay tuned, I guess?
THE EGGS.
ARE.
HERE.
(Also the vending machine, but it’s going to need a spa day or two to get it presentable.)

Hey everyone!
Just wanted to talk a bit about Chronic Wasting Disease, AKA “zombie deer disease”
Some people have expressed concern and I want to assure everyone that I am extremely aware of how detrimental this disease is.
-For those of you who don’t know, CWD is a prion that infects the nervous system of whitetail deer. It is very contagious and very fatal. It has been becoming more of an issue in many states as the deer populations are increasing. Also, it doesn’t make it better when people bait deer, as it normally spreads through the saliva and when there’s lots of food in one area the chance of infection increases.
-As many of my followers know, I post a lot of content about whitetail deer and cleaning deer skulls. I want to clarify that all carcasses are disposed of properly at dump stations provided by the dnr and I always make sure to clean my tools after each head.
-Something else I do to help the dnr is remove the lymph nodes of each deer and bring them to a CWD kiosk to be collected and tested for the prion. I strongly recommend anyone who cleans deer skulls to do this as it helps counties get a more accurate estimation of deer infected with CWD, while also helping the dnr implement techniques to slow the spread.
-More information should be available on your local dnr’s website and again, I strongly encourage anyone to check this out and get involved!
-Please keep in mind that to bring in your deer’s lymph nodes you’ll need to have an authorization number for the animal!
Poor little guy was hit by a car and I had a hell of a time getting him home. Luckily there wasn’t much of a mess and I hope I can still use his hide.
Got two button bucks and I love how different they look! One has more of a reddish hue while the other has very beautiful distinct white patches on his eyes and nose ❤️
Hello everyone!
This is a repost as I believe the original was deleted. I was informed on how to use the readmore edit and will be using it for this post instead.
For context, I acquired three deer heads from a friend and one of them was fresh. It had been sitting out for a few days and is now infested with maggots!! The other two are mostly mummified so have no maggots, yay!! The video isn’t included in this one because it doesn’t want to load

I’ve been blessed with some more deer skulls to clean!!! The two with the tags are mummified while the skull was a find a little while ago. I left him sitting outside for some time and nature cleaned him up pretty good!

I’m trying out a different method this time and I’ll be putting them next to an ant nest. Hopefully it works well enough to at least get some of the nasty off them. The guy that gave the two to me doesn’t want them back either so I hope to put them in the shop eventually
AaaaahhHHHHHHHH!! I’ve been so inactive lately friends, I apologize! School has been a b word. But here’s some cool recent finds because why not?
Most of these were found near streams! A hotspot for bones I’ve recently discovered ❤️❤️❤️
And a few more!
Little spooky curiosities cabinet I made last week ⚰️Glass coffin from Michael’s some Halloween ago, little guitars from a miniature store I’ve had around for 15 years, locket with favorite vampires vintage 1940s. Goblins, sprite, heart, and mandrake sculpted from polymer clay, little vampire hunter kit from scrap materials (wood, velvet, toothpicks, polymer clay, ribbon, beads).
