Hey everyone! This is my list of resources I have made over the course of the existence of this blog, pertaining specifically to death witchcraft and spirit work. (EDIT: I also added divination because it is such a vital part of my own practice) I hope it helps some of you, and provides a resource for you to use! I’ve also thrown in my death work stuff as well. These posts are all mine, coming from separate blogs at times ( @shipping-the-gods,@the-daily-diviner, and @tarnished-headstone (@witchthatiam/@lonesome-bones are the names of this blog from a while ago)); none of these blogs are active. The only blogs I am active on are @shroud-of-roses and @breathing-in-gilded-dust (dodekatheism blog).
Please note you can do these three practices individually, I just choose to put them together for my own personal practice! Pick what you like and use it if you desire.
Hello my readers! Today’s post is devoted to spirit communication and Zener cards.
For those of you who don’t know, Zener cards are a deck of 25, with 5 each of 5 different symbols. They’re rooted in testing for ESP, but I’ve used them for for practicing and testing spirit communication. If you want to learn more about the cards, give them a quick Google!
This is a custom sigil commissioned by my beautiful friend,Leelahel, who is a card-reader and medium.
It’s meant to enhance the ability to communicate with spirits and to divine, particularly through cartomancy and tarot (designed with her aesthetic in mind, which was, thankfully, symbolically in tune with the purpose of the sigil).
Great for mediums, tarot-readers, fortune-tellers, and any type of witch, mystic or occultist who wishes to see beyond the veil.
Most witchcraft-related books focus on rural areas. These authors seem to operate under the assumption that the reader lives in the countryside or the suburbs.
In other words, there’s a dearth of instructional material for those of us who practice in cities. The techniques you see in more general occult texts can be adapted to urban living, of course.
But, very rarely does an author tackle the matter of city witches who wish to incorporate the city into their magic. There’s simply not a lot of published information about working with city spirits as opposed to simply tolerating them.
I currently live in Warsaw, Poland. Just prior to that, I lived in Krakow, and it was there that I performed what I now call the “Krakow Working” on the summer solstice of 2016.
In that rite, I sought a deep connection with the spirit of the city itself. With few resources at my disposal (not many books even acknowledge that cities have spirits), a lot of it was improvisation, but it remains one of my most potent workings to this day.
Afterwards, I still wished I could find more material on city spirits, and serendipity (well, Netgalley, anyways) led me to Diana Rajchel’s upcoming work on this very subject.
Diana Rajchel wrote Urban Magick for city witches like me. This book focuses on working with, rather than against, the complex metaphysical currents of the modern urban landscape.
It gives a great deal of attention to the spirits that dwell within our cities. I’d argue that it’s primarily a book for spiritworkers, albeit in an urban context.
If you’re in an urban area, and are at least somewhat familiar with notions of genius loci, devas, and other such critters, though, this book will definitely be a welcome addition to your shelf.
Rajchel devotes quite a few pages to workings for justice, community-building, and plenty of other altruistic motives. She clearly recognizes that part of city life involves sharing our energetic space with our fellow humans.
Rajchel shows that spiritwork can and should be conducive to a harmonious existence amongst other city-dwellers.
Her book is one of several published recently which discusses workings for communal justice and equity. In our increasingly polarized world, this seems particularly timely and will likely inspire many magical activists.
I have to give this book five out of five stars, for its erudite and timely tackling of an oft-ignored topic in witchcraft and magical practice.
I think it’s just wonderful to read, and I await further books from this author. This is the book that I’d wished for when I was performing the Krakow Working, and will definitely inspire future generations of city witches.

@wildoakwitch You were recently talking about feeling a need to get closer to your ancestors. I hope this might help. It’s a chapter from my Hedge meditations book I am trying to write.
Our ancestors can come in many forms. There is a line of creation, of people who came before us that we can learn from, that have influenced us. These people can be blood relatives, or they can be those who have taken your path before you, either your spiritual path, a career path or an artistic journey. Once you’ve crossed over, through the tunnel and to your sacred space, take a moment in this safe space to understand who you wish to see today. What advice are you looking for and which of these paths is troubling you at the moment? Who do you think might be able to help you?
You don’t necessarily need to come up with a specific face or name just yet. But having an idea of which type of lineage you’ll be searching for will help your guardian familiar. You might meet a great master of magic or a simple artist who has tried your artform in the past with their own level of success or lack thereof. Maybe you will be meeting a blood relative to learn more about your heritage and a deeper understanding of your own family. We may be different people but there is a string of influence that goes straight to ourselves, a camaraderie, a sense of belonging to this mass of individuals enacting similar strategies to a common goal. We will be taping into their knowledge and their motivation to see the line continue to grow and prosper.
Ask your familiar to come to you. Once you two have talked a bit, ask them to lead you to your lineage ancestor. Your guardian and the timing of your request will bring about which spirit will be available for a chat. Keep the path at your feet, put a hand to your familiar and feel their fur or feathers beneath your fingers. Stay grounded to this reality. Watch them for cues. We are going deeper into the astral than we ever have before, and crossing into others’ lines now. This is part of the collective, we are stretching outward into territory not our own. We seem to just be going deeper into the forest but the plants are changing, the trees are becoming more diverse. Pay attention to the changes, the details around you. Let yourself be surprised.
There is a little area to sit ahead. Someone is waiting for you. As they turn to you, let your eyes unfocus and come back to focus on them. Take in their details slowly. Focus on how they make you feel, how their energy surrounds their presence, and the details will slowly take root. Then you can focus on their dress and what time period it reminds you of. Spend some time getting to know who they are. What advice do they have for you? Have they been waiting for you? What are their hopes for you?
When the time comes, thank this spirit for their time. Ask your familiar to guide you back home. Unwind in your sacred space, ground and center again. This is the space of your own, and it should remind you of who you are, without any attachments to others. Come back to yourself, before analyzing the influence others may have on you. Come back through the tunnel, into the harsher reality of the forest next door. Then come back into your own body.
Eating some food may be necessary to really get back to your body. Take it easy and slow. The meaning of your meeting may come to you slowly. Allow the meditation to follow you and don’t feel rushed to fully understand what you just saw.
Physical Description: Her nickname is Scarlet for a reason with flaming red hair down to her hips, and eyes that flare red when she gets excited about… well anything, really. With very pale white/grey skin, she stands at only 4′10″, but she makes up for her size with her direct personality (see below). She has very delicate horns that curve gently around the back of her head to the nape of her neck. She tends to appear in one of two different outfits depending on her mood - the first being thigh high leather boots and a black leather ‘playsuit’ that barely covers her bum and a neckline that plunges down her chest to her belly button. The second being a stunning red full length velvet dress that hugs her every curve, with a split up the leg and thigh to her hip bone. She has tattoos up her arms and one on her thigh, but she would like to leave it up to her companion to discover what they depict. She has black wings with an 8 foot wingspan, with a shorter foot long tail that flicks like a cat’s tail when emotional (Both good and bad).
Personality:Looks can be deceiving. Petite and timid looking, this succubus has a direct and teasing personality, but never cruel. She is strictly sapphic and would love to find a companion that would enjoy a sexual relationship after taking time to get to know each other, with the acknowledgement that because she needs to feed sexually, she may need to find energy from beyond the partnership, or be able to feed from the shenanigans between yourself and another partner to supplement. She loves pleasure of all kinds - foods, travel, music, wine, indulgent self care and of course the obvious. She strongly prefers companions with high personal hygiene standards and doesn’t like homes with regular strong smells such as fish or garlic. She proudly considers herself high maintenance, but likes to provide her maintenance herself, doing her nails daily and hair masks at least once a week. She enjoys watching porn including bdsm as long as it is completely consensual. She considers herself a switch.
She has no preference on family size, she enjoys having a lot of people around and going to parties. She prefers to communicate telepathically, but will use tarot or other oracle cards as well.
This is NOT a spirit for novices. Babylonian in origin, and broody af.
Age:~4500
Physical Appearance: 8 feet tall. Head, arms and torso of a man. Legs and tail of a scorpion. His top half is dark olive skinned, lean and scarred with tattoos running across his chest, down his arms, up his neck, down the center of his back, up the back of his neck up to the crown of his bald head. His eyes are completely black and he has no facial hair. He has a brand on his left hip just above where his torso joins his casing. His scorpion half is a deep blood red with black tattoos also down his tail.
Characteristics:Spike has been through a lot. He is quiet and broods from time to time. He looks fierce and has had to be resilient in the past but now wishes to have quiet life with a family to look after. He is completely carnivorous. He specialises in dark magick, dispelling illusions and underworld travel. He is incredibly intelligent, especially in regards to Babylonian theology. He has no preference on family size, but asks that when he needs a bit of space he is not disturbed until he is ready to talk again. He is zealous when it comes to protecting his territory and that of his companions.
Please acquaint yourselves with H-Mann (nickname chosen by him, don’t blame me) the Kobold. H-Mann loves to play tricks and would like to find a companion full of energy and advanced in spirit communication.
Age:~660 years, approx middle aged for his species.
Appearance:Clocking in at about 3′5″, H-Mann is tall for his species. He prefers to wear deep green and brown clothing, patched up where it has worn thin, and fairly ragged around the edges. He likes to wander around barefoot and wears a woolen hat on cooler days. He has deep dark eyes and a mischievous grin. He has a strawberry blond hair and a blond goatee beard, but beneath this has a very youthful face, almost child-like. He has ornate germanic tattoos down his arms, across his chest and up his neck. His skin is smooth but sallow, with a faint green tint in the right lighting.
Personality:H-Mann loves to play tricks. This spirit is not for you if you want everything to be in the same place you left it. This intensifies if he feels left out or forgotten. But if you keep up with your offerings and communicate as often as you can, he loves to help, too. Especially with domestic chores and DIY renovations. Somehow they seem to be closer to being finished than they were when you popped out of the room to do something else for minutes! He is easily distracted by sparkles and can sit quietly watching the light refracting through a prism against the wall for hours. He would love to go to a home that has a fireplace, or could at least set up a hearth-like altar. When he gets annoyed he will make noises at night to keep you awake, only stopping when he has been satisfied (usually apologies for hurting his feelings will suffice, along with the usual offerings). Be 100% certain you want this spirit when you apply, as he intends on spending the rest of your life with you. He is highly adventurous and would like a companion that is not afraid to try new foods, drinks, experiences etc with him tagging along, of course.
Special Preferences: H-Mann would love to help his companion with prosperity and fire magicks. He asks that the person he goes to will never attempt to take a photo of him due to cultural reasons. He prefers to communicate with oracle cards, runes and telepathy. He would rather a smaller family, no more than 6 other companions. He is not interested in any romantic liaisons outside his species.

Smoky is a spirit who has been with me for five months now and is ready to find his forever home. Smoky is a nick name we both came up with because when he gets excited wee puffs of smoke come out his nose like little hiccups.
Age: 2500-2800, exact year uncertain
Appearance: As a Dragon, Smoky is longer than he is tall. Only around 8 ½ feet tall, he is approx 25 feet long from snout to tail. He is an iridescent white with some silver scale armoring down his neck, chest and sides and silver eyes. His wings are leathery and more of a cream colour with a full wing span of approx 30 feet. He is most comfortable in his dragon form, but can shapeshift to a human form as well. In this form he is approx 7 feet tall looking to be in his late 20′s, pale skin, silver almond shaped eyes and white hair that hangs in a silver plait to his waist. He is slender though with defined musculature and prefers to appear dressed in black jeans, grey turtle neck and white trenchcoat, though this can change to suit the occasion (I have seen him in a full tux and holy moly). He is stunningly handsome, with a clean shaven square jaw, straight nose and regal bearing.
Personality: Smoky is blunt and does not suffer fools. He demonds respect and likes to remind you he could burn you to a crisp and eat you for an entree if he really wanted, but he wouldn’t. Pity the person who tries to harm his companion in any way, though. In saying this he has a sarcastic sense of humor and flirtatious gleam in his eye even when in dragon form. He likes his personal space to go flying and hunting, especially when the moon is full. He is more of a home-body when it is waning/dark, and likes to read with his companion, preferably with a glass of red wine to share. when the moon is waxing he loves to get outside with his companion, particularly in forested areas, and to take them flying astrally to watch the moon rise.
Magick: Smoky is particularly attuned to lunar and protective magicks, in particular banishing, binding and warding. He strongly prefers an intermediate to advanced companion in both magickal and astral workings that has a frim grasp of telepathy which is his preferred communication method, though he also enjoys tarot and spirit boards, either with a planchette or pendulum.
Family: He does not mind family size, though prefers less than 10. As long as he can have his own space and enough asral room to shift and go flying as he pleases. He is undecided about whether he wants a vessel, it would depend what it is, but likes the idea of a dragon pendant or ring. He is pansexual and wouldn’t mind exploring the idea of an open relationship with his companion in his human form.
E the Bubble Spirit is a very unique creature that I stumbled upon around seven months ago now. When I met them, I knew right away the spirit was not meant to be a companion for me, and so the vetting process began.
Appearance: E is literally a pearlescent bubble approximately 8-10 inches in diameter, this size can fluctuate depending on mood.
Energy Alignment: E is light aligned, resonates with the elements of air and water, and is suitable for sensitive beginners, as they would like to form a learning relationship with their companion, teaching them about working with the above elements.
Characteristics and Needs: E is very sensitive to touch and requires a companion that will not insist on any kind of physical contact. E doesn’t tend to “burst” but will if they feel threatened, and regenerates in a new location safely away from the threat. E is agender, asexual and aromantic, preferring them/they pronouns. They are very soflty spoken, when they speak at all and prefer pendulum or water scrying as a form of communication, and prefers to meet up on the astral realm as the wind and other air currents in the physical make them uncomfortable. They are willing to teach these for the right companion. Not particularly fond of plants - the leaves are too pokey.

I will NOT be involved in frankly juvenile inter-discord/tumblr ‘wars’ or other dramas. If you want to be here on this blog, I don’t care what other board you belong to. I will never tell you X board is better than Y board or X practitioners has more/less experience than Y practitioner. You are all adults (or nearly) and can make decisions for yourself.
In return I expect you to be able to do the same in this space. This space should be safe for all members, regardless of where they come from. You don’t get to tell another member to leave or not recommend another board or this board to other people. You do not get to control the choices of other people in this space. You do not get to gossip about other spaces behind their backs, or do so to my space.
Trying to do so will be found out eventually and it will end in an instant dismissal from the discord board and being blocked on Tumblr. I am sick of the drama that belongs in High School, and I will not have it in this space.
The spirits deserve more than this, and a word to the wise - if you insist one creating drama in any area, especially relating to spirit work, it will begin to show up in your relationships with spirits and in your conjures. You will begin to attract spirits that feed on that kind of negativity. It’s not worth it, if for that reason alone.
If you’re aware of or involved in any conflicts of this nature, I’m not going to ask you to “pick sides” or anything stupid like that. Just take the things and teachings from any space you join that resonate with you and leave the rest - the squabbles or even advice that simply doesn’t feel right to you. Please don’t come running to me with any he said/she said type tales. I’m not interested.
You don’t need to be involved in drama. Take a step back, a deep breath and just enjoy the discord and tumblr spaces no matter which boards you belong on.
Any one who tells you otherwise is being manipulative and is not worth your energy.

We usually don’t speak about that, but I always wondered how people:
***who can’t connect no matter what they try
***people living with mental disorders or other unique mental conditions
***someone going through hard and heavy time when they’re loosing themselves in sheer physicality and chaotic activities they need to perform at certain moment at their life
I mean all the people who feel lost, disturbed, overwhelmed and disconnectedduring prolonged period of months, years, possibly entire life-
how uniquetheir connection to the spirit guides might be.
Dear heart, if you’re struggling in that way, I’d like to share with you some things which might help you to understand the uniqueness of your condition.
There is a real reason behind your condition, this is your chosen way to learn, refine your soul and spiritually evolve - you’re basically a child learning to swim, alone, scared, but only this way without any help you might learn a lot, really a lot.
***It needs a lot of bravery, special commitment of your soul to live any experience truly and deeply, being a mystical warrior who is going in the very darkness and let it destroy themselves while studying its ways. And compassion - it underlays everything, your soul committed to that hard journey as a way to gain knowledge to contribute to a lot of beings, without learning and transmuting darkness cosmos can’t continue…
You possibly have experienced strong connection with your spirit guides at certain moment and now high vibration energy you received is working in you, purifying, transmuting, it should be rather hard experience, your darkness is moving and manifesting, karmic connections and lessons are activated. But you’re on the way.
If you’ve previously tried to connect with the spirit guides through various rituals and tools but failed, it might possibly indicate that you were searching in wrong direction and tended to allow yourself to be led by wishful thinking and fantasies. Your failing is your blessing, it means you’re staying on your true path. It’s an indication that it’s time to let go of all expectations, fears, go back to your inner child and open your heart.
All things are coming in time, there is a time for sowing and time for gathering.
Spirit guides for the lost, disturbed, deeply down
Embrace simple things, things which are personal and unique, how you experience darkness counts. Your connection with the spirit guides is actually very unique, subtle and personal. Let yourself experience it without holding the images of certain rituals, people, conditions allowing that connection happens.
Anxious? Lost? Heavy? Go for that and experience, cry, dissolve yourself in day-to-day office work, fight your obsessions but embrace that as your way to grow and connect.
Sometimes it might be as simple as stopping at road crossing and staying for a while observing people, cars and trees, speaking to somebody you never meant to speak, finding beauty in the ornament created with windows and roofs of the houses you’re passing by. Raw, simple, authentic.
Relax in every moment, no matter what, as deep as possible, relaxation is your way back to reality of your heart
Stay focused, you’re not preparing yourself to experience something special or searching for particular signs, you have no expectations - actually you’re opening to experience anything as that special, but without clinging, letting everything flow
***images and pattern - did you notice twins walking street in front of you? or three beautiful girls in black stepping from drug store?
***colors - what is the color of your neighbor eyes? what is the color of mug you were given at coffee shop that Sunday morning?
***symbols - what was in that strange dream about you your mother saw yesterday?
***sounds, smells, sensations
***words - messages you find on bill boards and in graffitis
— } all that things might lead you nowhere or somewhere, uncovering experience after experience beneath, so you might find yourself remembering childhood or feeling sadness or longing, subtle memories of so many places, so many feelings, that’s your cosmic heritage, but every time make sure you are back in your present moment.
Open your heart, nothing fancy behind that, just try to turn from your mind conditioning every moment it arises strongly and go back to your heart, with trust and compassion towards yourself,
practice asking yourself: what I feel? what I love? what I love in myself? do I love myself right now in that difficult moment?
Lastly,start asking your guides to heal your body, even if you feel well, your etheric body might hold huge traumatic experiences

Does the Ouija Board really communicate with spirits or is it just a harmless game?
The first advertisements started to appear in papers by 1891: “Ouija, the Wonderful Talking Board". The board was described as magical because it answered questions “about the past, present and future with marvelous accuracy”. It’s price was $1.50.
The Ouija board (pronounced Wee-ja) is a flat board marked with the letters of the alphabet, numbers 0-9, and the words “yes”, “no”, and “hello”, “goodbye”. The invention of the original design in still unknown.
The Ouija board was, at first, regarded as a harmless parlor game. It’s popularity grew out of the strong American 19th century obsession with spiritualism - the belief that the living are able to communicate with the dead.
The first patent was granted in 1891 to Elijah J. Bond as the inventor. Bond’s sister-in-law, Helen Peters (who was reportedly a “strong medium”), is credited for naming the board. While using the board, they asked what it should be named. The word “Ouija” was spelled out and when asked what that meant, the board replied, “Good Luck.”
To this day, mainstream religions and some occultists have associated the use of the Ouija board with the threat of demonic possession and have cautioned their followers not to use them.
Many believe that evil spirits, disguising themselves as deceased friends or family members, can trick the users of the board and unwittingly invite “them” into their homes. To be rid of such hauntings, Ouija “experts” advise either to burn the board or dispose of it in a lake since spirits supposedly cannot cross water.
No closer to my previously set goals. However, I have connected with two deities Artemis and E'kate (Hekate) a lot lately. Artemis came to me and said She could be my surrogate Mother if I wanted/needed.
It sounds weird but I’m always getting the feeling it’s better to call Her my “Mother Goddess” instead of “Matron.” I can certainly understand the feeling and I have no problem doing so. I have to confess it is one of the first times we’ve actually talked to each other. I just assumed She is/was/has been a part of my “Spiritual Family” to some degree. She’s always been there from I can recall and what I have felt in my life all these years.
Now I’m in a stage of transition that may or may not be messy. I’ve quit my 8-5 job I’ve been at for 5 years and I’m SO FREAKIN ECSTATIC. It’s been hell the last couple years and I’m so relieved to be free of that place. Instead, I’m going back college to become a sonographer and use that as my interim job while getting my masters. I can make the same amount of income but work half the hours. I"M FINALLY FREEEEEEEEEEEE
This all means I should have more time to work towards my goals of getting the alter finally set up, and the shrines fastened to the walls.
I’ve also been looking into getting a “Writual Planner” for the new year in hope that i can bring me back to my relationship with tarot and other witchiness. The plethora of chronic illnesses are heavy and weigh me down. Y'know, typical millenial with depression, cptsd, gad, sensory processing disorder and fibromyalgia. It’s a Millenial Health BINGO! There’s more but I can’t be bothered to write them all down. Anyway, its why there isn’t much new stuff here (yet). I’m working on that though. I really think it’ll be fun making spells with pokemon moves.. hmmmmm
*Finishing altar - waiting for Hekate’s statue but after that I’ll still need to hang the shrines on the walls otherwise the altar will be crowded.
*Creating 2 servitors based on Pokemon to watch over my pups and kittens. I’m thinking of using Espeon for the kittens and Herdier for the pups.
*Figuring out where all the lust energy came from that has saturated our bedroom. I mean…I can guess but I haven’t been aware of this issue until now. The sex smog has been distracting the spirit fam to a point where they have a very hard time communicating with me. I’m going to see if I can consume the energy first before I attempt a cleansing. I’ve heard cleansing my own energy from my spaces can make me sick or at least have negative side-effects.
*Establishing better rapport with my spirit fam, which would include finishing their tarot readings and recording the data.
