The sound of leather smacking different objects radiated through your already pounding head as you were working through your third hour in the gym with Ron. He promised it’d be quick “an hour and a half, tops” is what he told you before you showed up to the forsaken building. You kinda hated it here.

There was never any quiet. The whole gym smelt like a men’s locker room and some of the guys that worked out there were more than a little creepy. You mostly kept to yourself and worked on your laptop.

You were Ron’s personal assistant, helping him with anything from water bottles to answering his phone when he didn’t feel like it. He paid you good money but you were always a little surprised that he wanted you to be his assistant. You didn’t know anything about boxing, besides the stereotype of two overconfident men standing in front of a crowd and hitting each other till one dropped.

Ron had taken off his gloves as he and one of his friends decided to go for a round for fun. You hadn’t been paying attention then but as you looked up to see Ron sink the final punch. Blood stained his opponent’s face and it dripped from Ron’s knuckles. You stood up, grabbed your bag, and walked over to the bloody fighter.

“You know if you stopped getting hurt it would make my job easier.” You pulled his water bottle from your bag and handed it to him.

“Aw, but where is the fun in that doll?” You looked at his hand and he had a couple of gashes on his knuckles. He took his water bottle and sprayed the water in his mouth. You squeezed harder over his hand so water went all over his face and shirt.

“Oops.” you chuckled at the look on Ron’s face. “That’s what you get for making me come over here to clean your wounds,” You shrugged and reached into your bag for the antibiotics and bandaids.

“Look everyone, Weasley has his own nurse,” one guy shouted from a chair and a couple of others laughed.

“Damn straight. Best nurse in the world.” Blush coated your cheeks as you cleaned the dried blood from his calloused hands. A few moments passed and one of the creepier regulars strutted into the gym. You made a point to never tell Ron when men, especially men at that gym, were weird. You knew he would probably kill them.

His eyes met yours as you looked up to the sound of the opening door. You looked down quickly and started spreading little dots of antibiotics across the cuts.

“Ouch!” Ron said, ripping his hand away from you.

“Don’t be a baby, give it back,” you held out your hand for him. You finished with the antibiotics and as you went to put the bandaids on you realized they were the princess bandaids you had bought for home. You didn’t say anything about it, there wasn’t any way to fix it now so he would have to suffer with the pink bandaids. He had been talking to a few guys as they watched two more spar and didn’t look at his hand till you were done.

He looked at his hand and then back up at you. He raised his eyebrow, “Pink?”

“Yeah. You got a problem with it?” You said playfully.

“Not at all.” he stood from his seat and started walking back towards his friends. You stood too before bending over to collect your things.

“I don’t know how you guys get any work done with that thing walking around.” You didn’t even need to look up to know who was talking. That’s when you realized the grave mistake this man had made. Everyone was looking at Ron as his eyes burned into the man.

“What’s your name?” Ron said through a calm and even tone.

“Jacob. Why?” The man was almost as tall as Ron but not as muscular.

“Jacob. Well, Jacob, if you ever speak to or about my girl like that again you won’t be able to get work done at all. Ever.” He was fuming, anger coursed through him and it was evident. You walked over to Ron and put your hand on his shoulder gently.

“He’s just some gym bro who thinks he can say anything he wants, don’t let him get under your skin,” you whispered.

“And you are gonna be the guy to do that? You’ve got pink bandaids on your hand that your little bitch put on you.” One of Ron’s friends moved to intercept him before he could land a punch on this asshole.

“Ron it’s okay,” you said, hoping you could snap him out of it.

“No y/n it really isn’t. I think he needs a lesson in how to speak to women and when to gauge when he’s gonna get his ass beat.”

“Well then step up pussy.” Jacob had so much confidence in himself that even Ron’s manager stepped back. Ron took two big steps toward him and they were face to face.

“Hit me and we will see who the real pussy is, bitch.” Ron knew just the buttons to press to get what he wanted without initiating the fight. “Or are you just a little pussy gym bro who thinks he can treat women however he wants?” That’s when Jacob hit him. Ron felt adrenaline shoot through his body. His fists were automatic after that, Jacob landed two more punches before Ron had him incapacitated on the floor. Jacob’s face was bloody and covered in tears when Ron decided he had enough.

“Learn from this experience Jacob. If y/n here ever says you say anything to her or even look in her direction it’ll end much worse. Understand?”

Jacob groaned in agreement from the floor and that’s when you finally asked if you could leave for the day.

“Whatever you want, doll.” You both gathered your things and left the gym.

“So I’m your girl now?” You smirked up at the redhead.

“You’ve always been my girl, darling.”

Chapter 1: The Journey to The Burrow

image

“I think this is the most unnecessarily stupid thing either of you has ever done,” you said, not bothering to hide the wide grin on your face.

Fred and George Weasley beamed at you from outside of your bedroom window, where they were suspended in the air in the Flying Ford Angela. It was a humorous sight to see, the lanky identical twins casually driving their floating turquoise vehicle to your window.

“Madame y/l/n, as you well know, you are cordially invited to spend your summer holiday in the exceptional company of the entire Weasley family,” George declared in a booming voice.

“Rightly so, Madame, and we are acting as your trusty steeds to help deliver you safely to our humble abode,” Fred continued with the same tone of feigned royalty.

A laugh bubbled out of you as you threw your arms out of the window, hugging Fred, who was in the passenger side window.

“It’s so good to see you both!” You exclaimed, letting your arms drop to start gathering your trunk in your room.

“If I’m not mistaken, not 1 minute ago you were calling us unnecessarily stupid,” George pointed out jokingly.

You rolled your eyes. The playful banter between you and the Weasley twins has been a prevalent part of your friendship since your second year at Hogwarts. In fact, you were first introduced to your best friend because of a ridiculous, and embarrassing, prank the twins played on you.

“Where is Ron?” You asked, remembering that he said he would pick you up today to go back to the Burrow. When he sent his owl with the date and time of your pickup, you expected to be traveling by broomstick or Floo Network. The Flying Ford Angela at your window was a welcome surprise. Always one for mischief, you couldn’t turn down a ride in a flying car.

“Bad news, love. He couldn’t make it. But he sends his well wishes and will be home a couple days after you arrive,” George told you.

You nodded, fighting the urge to be disappointed. Even though he was your best friend, you couldn’t expect him to be spending every day of the summer with you. It was already a blessing that the Weasleys were letting you spend your summer at their home while your parents were away in Europe, you couldn’t be greedy and ask for too much.

But still, you had been looking forward to seeing Ron since he sent his owl. Lately, whenever you’ve been feeling lonely, you would think about how soon you would be spending your evenings playing Wizard’s Chess with Ron instead of eating dinner alone in your empty house.

“Come on, y/n, the car will run out of petrol with you just standing around!” Fred said, hopping out of the car and into your room. He hoisted your packed trunk into the back of the car and held the backdoor open for you.

“M'lady,” he offered, with a bow so deep his orange hair fell into his eyes.

Smiling back at him, you climbed into the car. Fred followed suit and within minutes you were soaring above the London skies.

You exchanged stories back in forth about what you’ve been up to since Hogwarts let school out. The twins told you about their successful joke shop, and even brought you a Screaming Yo-Yo as a welcome gift. You had always been supportive of Weasley’s Wizard Wheezes creations and were looking forward to testing more products with them this summer.

After a while, your chatter died down as you rested your head against the glass window. Watching the city line disappear into countryside below, a sense of calm washed over you. This summer was going to be your best yet.

“Y/n,” George said suddenly.

You raised your head cautiously, his voice sounded serious- something it very rarely was. Fred shared a look with George and they both nodded curtly, only increasing your anxiety more.

“What?” You asked, worry seeping into the question.

Fred sighed and turned around in his seat so he could face you.

“We think it’s time,” he said plainly, eyes staring deep into your own. You watched him, confused, as he kept looking at you.

“And that means….what?” You asked, still no idea what the twins were talking about.

George sighed, put the car on Auto-Pilot, and turned around as well. Now four pairs of brown eyes were staring at you intently.

“Won-Won,” they said simultaneously.

A laugh escaped you as you realized that their odd behavior was just another joke and not something serious. The three of you had teased Ron mercilessly last year about the nickname his girlfriend, now ex-girlfriend, had used.

“What about Ron?” You asked. A smile played upon your lips as you said his name, though you weren’t sure why.

The twins shared another look before George spoke up.

“It is time for you and Ron to confess your undying love for one another. This has been a long time coming and we believe this summer is your perfect opportunity,” George stated simply as if his explanation made perfect sense.

Face burning red, you looked out the window to avoid their gaze.

“Don’t know what you’re talking about,” you said, cringing. You didn’t even sound convincing to yourself.

George turned back around to drive the car as Fred continued pestering you on the subject.

“Don’t be ridiculous! Every single person, besides the two of you apparently, know what’s going on between each other. If I have to see one more longing glance from across the table, I’m going to have to move in with Charlie in Romania,” Fred told you.

Although it was obvious you had a long harbored crush on Ron, you didn’t think he reciprocated the same feeling. After all, he did have a girlfriend for half of the school year.

When you didn’t reply, George spoke up once again.

“We’re not trying to rush you, love, but we know he feels the same way. For days, he couldn’t shut up about how excited he was that you were coming to stay at the Burrow,” he said.

“If he were so excited then why didn’t he bother to pick me up? Or why won’t he be back until a few days after I arrive?” You snapped. Surprised by your own feistiness, you assumed that maybe you were more than a little disappointed to not see him.

The twins shared yet another knowing look with one another.

“What is it?” You asked, desperate to know what they were keeping from you.

“You’ll see, y/n…” Fred said mysteriously. Then he pointed out the window, and proclaimed “Ah, we’re almost there!”

Following his finger your gaze fell upon the towering structure just ahead. The rooms upon rooms stacked on top of each other made the most magnificent wizarding house you had ever seen.

You’ve never been to the Burrow before, and since you were Muggleborn your house wasn’t anywhere near as magical. The entirety of the Weasley’s home seemed to be held up by magic, oozing it out of every window. Just looking upon their home, with the gnomes in the garden, smoke rising from the chimney, and Quidditch goals set up in the yard, you forgot your worries.

Maybe you would have to finally confront your feelings for Ron this summer. But right now, all you wanted to focus on was how excited you were to spend the next few months with your best friend and his family.

Author’s Note

Hi readers!

Before anything else I want to start off by saying thank you so much for reading my story! I appreciate it so much.

Secondly, you should know (and I’m sure lots of you already do) that I do not own any of the characters or settings within this fic. All of this is based off of the amazing Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling. This is just my small version of a story within the entire Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

Also, please know that in no way does this fic follow the storyline of the actual books. It’s just something light hearted so the events that happen during the Half Blood Prince (such as the burning of the Burrow) don’t occur in this story. I wanted the characters in this to be between 17-18 so I chose the summer after sixth year for the timeline :)

And with that, I want to thank you again and I really hope you enjoy this fic! Please feel free to comment and let me know your thoughts and suggestions <3

Chapter 14: A Magical End and a New Beginning

image

When you woke up the next morning, Ron’s arms were wrapped tightly around you and his snores were loud enough to wake the entire Burrow. Giggling at him, you turned around to kiss him on the cheek. At this, he started stirring in his sleep.

“Wake up, Won-Won,” you teased.

Ron groaned sleepily and nuzzled his nose into the crook of your neck.

Never, call me that,” he said, his speech thick from sleep. His morning voice instantly made you feel hot and light headed.

“What would you rather me call you?” you asked, a playful smirk appearing on your lips. “Sweetheart? Lover of mine? Honeykins? Sex Wizard Supreme?”

My boyfriend will do for now,” he responded, kissing your lips. After a moment he pulled away, pursed his lips and said, “On second thought, I kind of like Sex Wizard Supreme.”

You laughed, playfully nudging him off of you as he tried to kiss you again. In response to this, he wrapped his arms around your waist from behind and attacked your neck with thousands of kisses. You were giggling and gasping under your breath when suddenly, Ron’s bedroom door was kicked open. Both of you froze.

In marched Ginny, Hermione, Harry, and the twins.

“I see we’ve come full circle,” Hermione said with a smirk once everyone got a glimpse of you and Ron, tangled in the bed sheets. You self consciously pulled the sheets higher up around your body to cover up for the fact that underneath the red comforter, you were butt-naked.

“Itoldyou this was where she was,” Ginny said, lightly slapping Harry on the shoulder.

Fred made a great deal of dramatically holding his hand out to George, who dug two galleons from his pocket and slapped it into Fred’s open palm. George glared at you for a second, presumably for making him lose his bet, but before long he was back to smiling and joking.

“You’re welcome for those fireworks, mate,” George told Ron. “Without them, I would’ve bet you never would have told y/n you liked her.”

“Bet? Would you like to make another? I could use some extra cash,” Fred said, turning to his twin with a smirk. George responded with an eye roll and a shove to Fred’s shoulder.

“Ron! You never told me you liked y/n!” Harry protested in disbelief. “I’m your best friend,” he added afterwards, obviously a little grumpy that Ron hid this from him.

You felt Ron shrug behind you, his arms still in place on your waist.

“You never told me you fancied my sister,” he responded. His voice was still deep from just waking up and it made you wish everyone would leave the room so you could attend tootheractivities.

Harry’s face turned the color of Ginny’s hair. Ginny, who was now grinning like an idiot.

“Come on then, Harry,” Ginny said, taking him by the hand and pulling him towards the open door. “Ron and y/n had their conversation, now it’s time for ours.”

Once they left, Hermione and the twins stayed grinning at the two of you.

“Get out,” Ron grumbled at them.

“Please,” you added with a sweet smile.

Hermione winked at you as she left. The twins followed, but not before shouting “Use protection! Wrap it before you tap it!”

Ron groaned at their words but you knew he was secretly as excited as you were when his bedroom door slammed shut, leaving you alone.

“So,” you prompted, rolling onto Ron’s stomach. His hands instinctively found their way to your hips, moving up and down the sides of your body, giving you shivers.

“So,” he replied with a smirk.

You leaned down to press your lips against his.

“Whatdoya wanna do on this fine morning?” you asked, mumbling the words against his mouth.

Ron’s hands trailed from your waist downwards, cupping your bare bottom.

“I could think of a few ideas.”

After about three rounds of mind-blowing sex, you were reallymaking up for lost time, the two of you headed downstairs for breakfast. Well by now, it would probably be lunch.

Ron had insisted you wear one of his t-shirts, which had been exactly what prompted round number three, so you walked, more like limped(for obvious reasons), down the stairs wearing your jean shorts and his red Chuddley Canons shirt. His hand was pressed against the small of your back to keep you steady and it made you feel warm and fuzzy inside. You wished he would never stop touching you.

“Morning,” George said, lifting his mug of tea and smirking at you.

“Y/n!” Mrs Weasley said, brightening once she saw you. “You missed helping at breakfast this morning, but no matter, please sit down! We’re having sandwiches for lunch.”

You thanked her, sliding into the nearest chair, praying to Merlin she hadn’t noticed the way you were walking. Ron sat beside you and before long, the whole Weasley family was at the kitchen table. Plates of food were passed around and everyone started digging into the meal. Talk at the table was joyful and full, and you couldn’t have been happier. You were sitting around the table with the boy you loved, your best friends, and the nicest family you had ever met. It was in that moment that you realized, this was the happiest you had ever been in your whole life. All thanks to this wonderful summer, you knew more moments like this would happen again.

After lunch, you played a game of Quidditch with the family and after an astounding match (you had scored at least 7 goals) you found yourself under the familiar oak tree, playing wizard’s chess with Ron.

His knight piece had just smashed your pawn into a dozens pieces and you let out a low sigh.

“I’ve never been very good at this game, Quidditch is more my speed,” you admitted.

Ron grinned, happy to have found a game he could beat you at.

“If I let you win will you stay in my room again tonight?” he asked with a giddy look in his eyes.

You laughed, pushing his shoulder. The instant your skin touched his, it was like the same sparks from your first kiss were ignited again. Ron rolled over on top of you, cradling your face with his large hands as he kissed you breathlessly. You couldn’t help the sigh of happiness and love that escaped your lips.

“I’ll take that as a yes,” he said.

Rolling your eyes, you asked, “Won’t your parents get suspicious?”

Ron shrugged, kissing your left cheek, then your right, and finally your forehead before pulling you into his side. Now you were cuddling under the oak tree, the summer sunshine illuminating his red hair, and you couldn’t have been happier.

“Maybe they will, I dunno. I think they suspected us to be banging for years,” he replied.

“Such romantic word choice,” you quipped with a laugh.

He kissed your shoulder before responding, “Fucking, making love, bumping uglies. Whatever you want to call it, as long as we get to do it again.”

You laughed again and he joined in, the sound like music to your ears.

“I’m serious though,” Ron finally said, turning to you with a much more mature look on his face. “Not just about the sex thing. Even though that isvery good. But I mean in general.” His eyes scanned yours and you had the feeling he was nervous about what he was going to say next.

“In general?” you asked.

He nodded before continuing. “I don’t want this, us, to be a just summer thing. I’ve loved you for years, and I want to keep loving you for years. That means during our last year at Hogwarts, and afterwards.”

You were stunned by his vulnerability to say that. In response, you kissed him, trying to pour all of the love and words you didn’t know how to articulate into the kiss.

“I want that too. I want you, too. For years to come.”

He grinned at that before repeating, “For years to come,” as he kissed you again. And again. And again.

the end.

Chapter 13: Always Want You

image

Author’s note: okay so this chapter is gonna be a little steamy…pretty much the entire chapter is literally just steam so if you’re not comfortable with that please don’t read this chapter! thanks! :)

Yourknuckles hovered over the wooden door of Ron’s bedroom. They were shaky, and your heart was beating faster and faster. You had successfully slipped out of Ginny’s room after (of course) gushing to her and Hermione about all the romantic things that Ron had said to you. You were pretty sure they had seen you leave Ginny’s room during the sleepover, but they opted to let you have your fun.

And fun you would have. If only you could work up the courage to knock on the door.

You don’t know why you were nervous. Ron just bared his heart and soul to you outside a few hours ago but now standing at his bedroom door, you were racked with nerves. What if he changed his mind? What if you messed something up? What if you weren’t as good a kisser as he was? Juvenile thoughts, yeah, but everything with Ron was new and exciting, you couldn’t help feeling so inexperienced.

Before you could even decide whether or not to turn around and run back up the stairs, you heard a very familiar squawking noise. Dite. Perfect opportunity, you thought, before knocking on the door

The door swung open before you could even lift your hand away. Your knuckle was frozen there in midair as your gaze met Ron’s. He had changed out of his button-up from the party and was now wearing loose sweat pants and his signature Chudley Cannons t-shirt. Just the sight of him made your head feel woozy and clouded.

“I….uh…heard Dite, so I decided to come check on her,” you said, very awkwardly. Even though you knew how Ron felt about you, and vice versa, you still found yourself at a lost for words standing at his bedroom door. For some reason kissing him now seemed drastically different from kissing him in the garden.

Ron gave you a lazy grin.

“You came just for Dite, huh?” He asked, seeing right through you. Blush spread across your cheeks and you nodded curtly.

Before you could make any more of a fool of yourself, Ron gently clasped his fingers around your wrists and pulled you into the room, promptly shutting the door behind him. He then pushed your back up against the door and kissed you. Surprised, your hands flew to his hair and you deepened the kiss. Even though you had exchanged countless little kisses the entire night (you could barely keep your hands off each other), every single one had felt as passionate and important as the first.

Ron pulled away from you, his grin still playing on his, now chapped, lips.

“Still only here for Dite?” He asked, his eyes joking.

“Definitely,” you responded, taking every ounce of your will power to push away from him rather than wrap your legs around his torso. You walked over to the owl cage in the corner of the room. Inside, standing on straw and looking very smug, was your little friend Dite.

You stroked the top of her feathers with the back of your fingers, smoothing out the black heart on top of her head. While you were distracted by your pet, you felt strong warm arms wrap around your waist from behind. Ron leaned down to rest his chin on your shoulder.

“Do you think she knows? About us?” Ron asked, tilting his head towards the small owl you were petting.

“Oh, definitely. She’s practically screaming ’I told you so!’ right now.”

Ron wrapped his arms tighter around you as he chuckled. Your entire body felt warm with him wrapped around you. Wow, you thought. You could get used to this feeling.

He laughed again, kissing your shoulder while doing it so you felt his hot breath on your bare shoulder. You decided to wear a tank top and pajama pants to meet him tonight, and you were glad you did. His breath directly on your exposed skin was driving you insane.

“What’re you laughing at?” You asked, your fingers moving away from petting Dite and instead landing on his arm. You traced up and down his freckled limb, soaking in every bit of him.

“People always say I’m the dumb one, but I literally bought you an owl named Aphrodite and you still didn’t know how I felt about you,” he said. You could feel his shoulders jostling up and down as he spoke so you knew he was still laughing.

Rolling your eyes, you turned around in his arms and were now facing him. Your fingers trailed from his biceps up to his neck as you wove your fingers through his orange hair.

“I didn’t want to assume anything,” you defended yourself.

Ron lowered his lips to yours. “I wish you would’ve, then we could’ve done this a lot sooner,” he responded. You could feel the shape of his words barely touching your lips as he spoke against them.

“Done what, exactly?” You asked teasingly.

His lips connected with yours once more and as he kissed you deeply, he slowly walked you back towards his bed.

“This,” he mumbled huskily when your knees hit the edge of the mattress.

Desire pooled into every pore of your body as you laid down on his bed, him hovering above you.

“Some privacy, please?” You said, regarding the birds in the corner of the room. Dite sent a wink in your direction as she flapped out her wings and took flight. As soon as your owls had flown out the open window, you dragged Ron’s face down to yours.

“Kiss me, Weasley,” you breathed.

And kiss you he did.

You thanked your lucky stars you were laying down because if not, your knees would have given out with the intensity of Ron’s kiss. His mouth was hot against yours, his tongue dragging across your bottom lip hungrily. You kissed him back with the same feverish energy, wrapping your leg around his waist in one swift motion. He grunted into the kiss, left hand coming up to tangle in your hair as his right trailed down your body, touching you in places you desperately needed him at. His lips trailed from your mouth to your neck, leaving hot wet kisses along your jaw line.

“Y/n,” he rasped against your skin, making you shudder under him.

Slowly, he kissed from your neck to your collarbone, relishing in the little moans you were emitting. His fingers bunched around the hem of your tank top, his eyes searching yours for permission. You nodded, letting him lift the material and smiling to yourself when he sharply inhaled. You hadn’t worn a bra.

“Decided to keep with tradition, you know?” You joked as his eyes drank in the view of you.

“I love you so damn much,” he said, his hands roaming over your body. His eyes bounced back up to yours and held your gaze. “You look so beautiful like this, all splayed out with your hair messy,” he said. He was looking at you as if you were the most magical thing in the world-and to him you were. Which is saying a lot, because he was a wizard.

“I’m sorry I ran out on you the morning after we slept together,” he blurted out. Wincing, he amended, “I mean not sleep sleep together, but sleeping next to each other, in the same bed, like we did.”

It made your nerves ease when you watched him get flustered around you for once, instead of the other way around.

“Why did you?” You asked.

His hands stalled their trek on your body and moved back to your chin, cupping your face. He did that a lot, holding your face in his hands so gently. It made your heart melt and other parts of you heat up.

“I dunno, I guess I’ve just pictured this moment, right now, what we are doing, for the longest time…and I wanted to act on how I felt so badly that night…but I was too nervous,” he confessed sheepishly.

You propped yourself up on your elbows so you could look him deeper in the eyes.

“Apology accepted. Just don’t run out on me tomorrow morning, okay?”

His breath caught in his throat.

“You want to stay the night? With me? In my bed?” He asked nervously, as if he couldn’t believe his luck.

After glancing down at your bare chest, you looked back up at him.

“Well, obviously,” you joked.

He laughed through a grin and brought his lips to yours, before pushing you back into the pillows. Your head rested on his soft pillows and he kissed you again, making you feel like you were floating. His hands explored your chest while your fingers gripped the ends of his t-shirt, tugging it up slightly.

As if he could read your mind, Ron leaned back, quickly taking off his shirt and casting it away. Instantly, you attacked his shoulders and collarbones with hot, open mouthed kisses. You kissed every freckle, every mole, and every muscle on his chest.

Once you felt satisfied, you made your way back up to his lips, attaching yourself to them like they were water and you were dying of thirst. Ron eased you back to the pillows once more as his lips started kissing and sucking at the crook of your neck. You pressed you face into his red hair, the smell of cinnamon and apple filling your nose. He licked a particularly sensitive spot on your neck and you groaned, back arching.

Ron’s fingers reached the drawstring of your pants, and he pulled away to look you in the eyes.

“Are you sure you want to do this? Because we can wait if you want,” he rushed, his words tripping over one another.

You pulled him back into a kiss, breathing through it, “Ron, I want this, I want you, as long as you do too.”

“I’ll always want you,” he replied.

His fingers dipped below your waistband. They immediately found their way to your core and you moaned louder than you expected, heat rushing to your face.

“Alright there, love?” Ron asked with a smug grin.

“Perfect,” you replied, moaning again, not really caring about how desperate you must have seemed in the moment.

The rest of the night was filled with the same rhythm, kissing and asking permission and unabashedly showing each other how badly you wanted one another.

This lasted for quite some time, but by the time Dite and Pig had flown back into the room, you and Ron were cuddling together, out of breath, legs tangled up in the sheets.

“Hello,” you greeted your owl. She gave you an approving nod before nestling into the straw of her cage, soundly falling asleep.

You turned your attention to the red haired boy laying next to you, his arms wrapped tightly around you. His eyelids were heavy, and you could tell he was just as tired as you were. Taking out years worth of pent up desire and lust really tires a person out.

Ron pressed his lips against your mouth, your temple, your cheek, all the while mumbling “I love you,” against your lips, again and again and again.

You fell asleep to that mantra, heart full, hair a mess, and absolutely, blissfully in love.

Chapter 11: Spell It Out

image

It was the night of Percy’s birthday party and you had successfully avoided Ron the entire day. It wasn’t difficult to do, considering the fact that everyone was so hectic and busy running around to complete Percy’s demanding orders. He was usually uptight, but the stress of his work friends and boss attending his party had him so wound up you were afraid he was going to snap in two.

Not ready to face Ron after your screaming match last night, you stuck by Hermione and Ginny’s side the entire day as everyone prepared for the party. You also avoided Bill too, just in case Ron was still jealous enough to make a scene. You didn’t want any more emotional outbursts for a while. You were a little worn out from those this summer.

Now you stood next to the large oak tree, you had come to call it your tree ever since you snuck out at night to sit by it, and observed the party. Wizards in capes and tunics milled about, mingling with one another while sipping the punch Mrs Weasley had made. A laugh bubbled out of you as you remembered the verbal whipping she had given Fred and George when the twins tried to spike the punch with their newest prank concoction.

“It’s a nice night, isn’t it?” A velvet voice asked you. Turning around, you were met with the smiling eyes of Penelope Clearwater, Percy’s girlfriend. You had seen her around school before she graduated, and she was really smart. She was top of her class in Ravenclaw, and her straight black hair framed her delicate features nicely. She was really pretty and you were surprised she was with someone as irritating as Percy.

“It’s wonderful,” you replied, turning back to admire the decorations of the night. Your muggle Christmas lights were a huge hit, and you watched as Ministry officials stepped closer to the bulbs to inspect them further. Everyone looked in awe of them. The night was perfect summer weather. It was warm enough that people could wear dresses but not too hot that those in long capes got too overheated.

You toyed with the hem of your dress absentmindedly. Since you hadn’t brought any fancy clothes with you from home, Ginny had lent you one of her dresses. Ginny hated wearing dresses, “How can I play Quidditch in a dress?” she used to complain to her mom, but Mrs Weasley still made or bought a couple of them for her. You were glad she did, because the white dress you were wearing right now was stunning. Although you were a little taller than Ginny, the dress fit like a glove. It had a delicate lace neckline with matching short sleeves and came down to right above your kneecaps. When you had walked out of Ginny’s closet to show her your outfit, she had grinned and said, “Ron doesn’t know what he’s missing.”

Sighing as your brain yet again wandered to the redheaded boy, you turned to Penelope to take your mind off of him. You chatted with her for a few minutes about her work, and she was surprisingly a lot more interesting than Percy made her out to be. She was intelligent and passionate about her work, and pretty soon you and her began talking like old friends.

“It was really nice of you to help Percy plan for this party,” she said, giving you a warm smile that almost made you forget all of your current boy troubles. “He appreciates it, even if he can’t find the words to tell you. I know he can be a bit uptight sometimes, but he’s really a good guy. I’m so thankful for him.”

When Penelope talked about Percy, her eyes lit up and her elegant smile grew.

“You must really love him, huh?” You asked her. Your heart ached because you knew what it was like to care for someone that much. At least Percy loved her back.

She nodded. “I wasn’t really expecting to. At first we were kind of in competition with one another, to see who would be the best Prefect. But then feelings developed, and everything changed.” She laughed to herself and said, “sometimes, love happens unexpectedly.”

“That’s what Mrs Weasley told me,” you commented, remembering your conversation in the kitchen.

Penelope raised a perfectly plucked eyebrow at you. “You get love advice often from your boyfriend’s mother?” she asked jokingly.

Not even bothering to hide your blush, you replied, “He’s not my boyfriend.” But oh Merlin, you wished he was.

“Really?” she asked, the moonlight illuminating her perfect features. “Huh, from the way you two acted back at Hogwarts, I would have thought you’d been in love for years.”

Only one of us, you thought.

After chatting with Penelope a little bit more, you both made your way back to the party when dessert was served. Ice cream, tarts, and chocolate cake greeted you when you walked up to the dessert table. Your brain was so distracted by all of the delicious food that you barely noticed Bill walking up next to you.

“Hi y/n,” he said as you spooned some ice cream into a bowl. You smiled politely at him as he made a bowl for himself.

“Hello,” you said, topping your dessert off with sprinkles and chocolate sauce and whipped cream. Mrs Weasley really made the best food of all time. You were going to miss her cooking when the summer was over. Thinking about the end of summer sent a pang of sadness throughout your body. Although the summer had been fun, it was winding to an end and your last year of Hogwarts would be soon. You were going to miss your friends and the Weasley family.

Bill followed you to an empty table and you both sat down, immediately digging into your ice cream. Neither of you spoke as the next few minutes were reserved for devouring the delicious food. After you had both finished, Bill looked up at you and chuckled.

“What?” you asked defensively. It seemed like he was laughing at you.

“You got a little something right there,” he said, motioning towards the corner of your mouth.

Embarrassed, you swiped at your mouth, but Bill kept chuckling.

“Here, I got it,” he said, reaching across the table to wipe the extra ice cream off your mouth with his napkin. He was so close you could smell that pine-needle scent on him. His eyes met yours and you tried to steady your breathing. This felt wrong, you thought. I want this to be somebody else.

“Thanks,” you replied, leaning back in your chair to put some space between you.

Bill nodded, folding the napkin casually before dropping it in his lap.

“You’re really over me, aren’t you?” He asked. At the same time the words left his lips, your eyes caught on the sight of a lanky ginger boy stealing ice cream from Harry’s bowl when his head was turned. Your stomach flipped at just the sight of Ron.

“Yeah, I am,” you responded, still not looking away from the boy you loved.

You heard Bill standing before you saw him getting up from the table.

“You should tell Ron,” he said.

“Tell him what?” you asked, forgetting how clever Bill was. He gave you a knowing smile before speaking again.

“If someone loved me as fiercely as you two love each other, I would sure as hell fight for it.”

And just like that, Bill walked away, towards a blonde girl you recognized as Fleur Delacour from the Triwizard tournament. You had no idea why she was attending Percy Weasley’s birthday party, but Bill introduced himself to her anyway.

With Bill gone, you were alone with your thoughts. Bill had said “as you two love each other,” implying that Ron felt the same way. Although you were almost certain Ron didn’t love you back, Bill’s words gave you a new sense of hope. A fire ignited in your heart as you looked back at Ron, who was joking and goofing around with Harry. That boy, however flawed and imperfect he was, was the one you loved. You couldn’t just give him up because you had one disagreement.

“I would sure as hell fight for it.”

Maybe that’s all you and Ron needed, just one of you to build the courage to fight for the other. It was there, standing under the stars and twinkling lights of the summer night, that you decided that person was going to be you. You weren’t going to sit around, crying for a boy to want you. Instead, you stood up and made your way over to Ron. You had held your love for him in your heart for so long, it was time to finally let it free and tell him.

As you walked across the grass yard towards him, Harry and Hermione saw you approaching and left. Bless them for being such good friends. Now Ron was alone and he looked up at you from across the sea of moving bodies and lights. His eyes met yours with a smile, and your heart threatened to beat out of your chest. He was looking at you differently, you realized. Maybe it was the dress that fit you so well, maybe it was the moonlight shining on your skin, or maybe it was just years of longing and desire building up to this very moment. Because as you walked towards him, Ron thought, “There’s my love.

You weren’t aware of what Ron was thinking but you knew he was in a significantly different mood from the last time you spoke. By now, you were almost at Ron’s table, and he stood up quickly to greet you, knocking a couple spoons off the table in his haste.

“Hi,” you said shyly, tucking your hair behind your ear when you were a couple feet from him.

His eyes glanced up and down your figure and he before he could think, he blurted out, “You look beautiful.”

You couldn’t tell whose cheeks turned redder, yours or his. But in that moment you didn’t really care, all you cared about was coming over here to tell him the truth of how you felt.

“I have something to tell you,” you started. “I-”

An explosive BOOMricocheted into the night sky, cutting off your words. Everyone looked around them in surprise, and a second later another BOOMechoed, followed by a loud CRACKas fireworks were released into the sky.

“Welcome to Fred and George’s Magical Firework Extravaganza! Please enjoy the show!” you heard the twins voices magically project throughout the garden. At their words, more fireworks erupted in the sky, vibrant colors of blue and red painting the dark backdrop. They were so loud that you knew your chance to tell Ron that you loved him would have to wait until later, when it was quieter. In the meantime, you were going to enjoy the show.

Scooting next to Ron, you both leaned against the table together, your faces angled up to watch the sky. Firework after firework was released, each more intense than the last. Before you could even wonder what made their fireworks different from muggle fireworks, you received your answer.

One firework spiraled up into the air and exploded into a large green dragon. It swam through the stars before opening it’s mouth to breath fire. But instead of fire coming out, orange and red sparkly figures danced out of the beast’s mouth. At first you thought they were leprechauns, similar to the ones at the Quidditch World Cup show. But upon closer inspection, you started to recognize the figures.

“That’s us! That’s our family!” Ron said, his voice giddy with childlike excitement.

Leading the pack of orange figures made up of the firework trails and sparks was Fred and George, clad in the silly three piece suit that they had teased Percy about so relentlessly. Next came sparks in the shape of Mr and Mrs Weasley, walking hand and hand with one another. The rest of the family followed in age order; Bill, Charlie, Percy (who was wearing a large IT’S MY BIRTHDAY button), Ron, and then Ginny. After them followed Hermione, Harry, you, and Penelope. You laughed up at the firework version of yourself, beyond amazed at the magic it must have taken to make this special show.

Suddenly, you felt a pang of fear. The memory of Fred and George saying, “the fireworks are nonrefundable, we have to use them,” and “we thought you would have told Ron how you felt by the time of Percy’s party.” Oh no, you realized. You were too late. You closed your eyes and cringed as you thought about what was about to happen next.

As soon as you opened your eyes, you saw all the firework figures doing a line dance and kicking in time with one another. Everyone in the garden was laughing, clapping, and cheering for the show.

Then, pink firework hearts exploded into the sky. Here it comes, you thought.

In a giant red heart, the figures of Penelope and Percy emerged, holding hands and walking together. Laughter filled the garden as everyone enjoyed the cheesy display. Looking over at Percy, you were expecting him to be embarrassed by Fred and George’s show. Instead, he smiled wide, simply wrapping his arm around Penelope and planting a kiss on her cheek.

Next, Mr and Mrs Weasley emerged from the heart, waltzing with one another through the sky. People cheered and awed at their dance. You looked over at the real Mr and Mrs Weasley and your heart warmed as you saw Mr Weasley sweep up his wife in a goofy manner, beginning to waltz her through the garden just like in the sky.

Following them in the sky came Harry and Ginny. Everyone laughed when Ginny’s figure scooped Harry up bridal style and kissed him on the lips. Fake smoke erupted from Harry’s firework ears as he kissed her back. So I guess you and Ron weren’t the only ones the twins would tease about their love life. You glanced over at the real Ginny and Harry, laughing as you saw Ginny slapping her knees from laughing so hard. Harry stood next to her, his face as red as the fireworks.

After their figures left the sky, you knew what was coming.

“You don’t think they’re gonna…” Ron started, his voice sounding shocked.

“Yes, I think they are,” you responded, equally as stunned at Fred and George’s antics.

And then there you were. Yours and Ron’s firework figures were running through the heart together, your hair whipping behind you in a beautiful display of orange and red sparks. Your heart stopped when you saw Firework Ron turning to Firework y/n, dipping her low into a stereotypically cheesy pose, and kissing her. The garden erupted into even louder cheers and laughter. Fred and George were smiling and giving you double thumbs up from across the garden.

You couldn’t help it, you laughed along with them. It was so ridiculous, that everyone knew how you and Ron felt about each other all these years, everyone except the two of you. It took Fred and George literally having to spell it out in the summer night sky for you to realize that maybe Ron did feel the same way.

You turned from watching the sky to Ron, still laughing, and noticed he wasn’t looking at the fireworks. He was looking at you. He was looking at you like you were the most important thing in the summer night, nevermind the fact that there was a grand firework special going on behind him.

Before you knew what was happening, Ron had grabbed your hand and was dragging you towards the oak tree on the side of the house. Since everyone had gathered in the garden to watch the fireworks, the tree was well away from the others and it was significantly quieter. Your heart was beating so loud you were sure it was just as loud as the booms of the fireworks. The show continued in the sky as Ron led you to the tree, not releasing your hands until your back was pressed against the hard bark of the oak.

“Y/n,” he whispered, leaning closer and closer to you. His hands slipped out of yours as he reached up to cup the sides of your face.

“I have something to tell you,” he breathed, his eyes glancing from your lips to your eyes.

You held your breath, heart hammering against your ribcage, as you waited for the words you had been dying to hear for years.

Chapter 10: You Would be Fine

image

Author’s Note: Hi everyone! Thank you so much for all the love and support for this fic, it means so much to me :) Get prepared because this chapter is a lengthy one (about 4,200 words I think…oops). Also, the gif has nothing to do with the chapter I just thought Ron looked really cute lol. Okay anyways enjoy!!!

You were fine. Really you were.

Every time Hermione or Ginny gave you a concerned look while passing, you could easily plaster on an “I’m-good-everything-is-good-thanks-for-asking” smile onto your face.

In reality though, your heart hurt ever damn day.

About 2 weeks ago, Ron broke your heart. Under the oak tree outside, he told you that whatever happened between you was a mistake. Mistake. So instead of moping around for the rest of your summer vacation, you tried to be happy. During the day time you would laugh and joke with the Weasleys, help make meals, finish your school work, and do chores. But at night is when you finally let yourself feel your heartbreak. Once everyone fell asleep, you would creep down the stairs and sit underneath the oak tree, and cry.

It was therapeutic, kind of. With each passing night, you felt better. Yes, it still hurt seeing Ron’s freckled face every morning at breakfast. And it still made your skin and body ache when he accidentally brushed up next to you in the tight kitchen. But you were okay.

You knew that if you let Ron fully see how heartbroken you were, it would change the dynamic between you. You were best friends, and nothing more. No matter how much you loved him, that’s all you would ever be. Instead of jeopardizing the friendship you had come to cherish so greatly, you simply suppressed your love for Ron so you could maintain it. And it was working, king of.

The night after your heartbreak at the oak tree, you started treating Ron exactly as you had before you came to the Burrow, before you had let your emotions run wild. He reciprocated this and before long, you were best friends again. You played Quidditch on each other’s team, joked around with Fred and George, tried the newest Weasley Wizard Wheezes products (though you stayed away from the love potions), and played wizard’s chess together. Although your heart still skipped a beat whenever Ron leaned closer to you, everything was back to normal with your best friend.

Over the past 2 weeks, you had been alternating between sleeping in Ginny’s room for sleepovers, the bed in the attic, or the couch in the living room. Ron didn’t offer his room to you again, which made you sad but you understood. If you were alone with him late at night when your emotions were high, your cover of “nope-i-don’t-love-him-we-are-just-best-friends” was going out the window. So you stuck to your usual 3 beds.

That morning, you had awoken from the attic bed bright and early. Hermione had been getting the girls up at 8am for the past 2 weeks so that you could finish your school work early in the morning and have the rest of the day to relax. Although you hated her every morning for this, you were glad she had such a strict regimen because you had all finished your homework yesterday. Now, for the rest of the summer you were homework free.

By now you were so used to waking up early that it was no longer a surprise for anyone to see you help cook breakfast with Mrs Weasley. Besides Hermione, you two were usually the first awake and in the kitchen right away. This morning was no different as you padded down the creaky wooden steps into the kitchen.

“Good morning Mrs Weasley,” you greeted her, tying an apron around your waist. There were four aprons in the Weasley house; a floral one designated for Mrs Weasley, a dark blue one for Mr Weasley when he would attempt to use a muggle grill, a plain white one for whoever decided to help cook, and a yellow one with stars for you. Mrs Weasley even spelled your name, y/n, on the edge in elegant cursive.

“For my newest child,” she has said when she showed it to you. She pinched your cheeks, the way she did with all of her kids, and the action almost made you tear up. You threw your arms around her in a tight hug and thanked her profusely.

Mrs Weasley smiled approvingly at you as you started on the breakfast. As the usual morning rhythm took place, you cherished the routine of cracking the eggs, putting them in pans, flipping them, and then doing the same thing again and again.

But soon, Mrs Weasley’s voice broke the silence. “Sweetheart, what happened with Ron?” she asked.

Your head snapped up from the frying pan, your eyes meeting Mrs Weasley’s. She looked at you with motherly concern, and for some reason you couldn’t look at her loving face and lie to her.

“I don’t think he feels the same way that I do about him,” you stated, turning your attention back to cooking.

Mrs Weasley huffed. “Well, my son has never been the sharpest boy, as you know,” she said. You giggled, though you were still sad, and she smiled at you. “Maybe things will change honey,” she told you, “love happens unexpectedly.”

Before you got the chance to reply, thundering footsteps sounded from the staircase. You whipped your head around to see the twins barreling down the steps, practically tripping over one another in their hurry.

“Where’s the fire?” you asked.

Fred ran across the room, picked you up around the waist, and spun you around.

“Percy’s home! His work is called off for the week because of his birthday!” He shouted excitedly. You laughed, swatting at him with your spatula until he set you down.

“I didn’t know you two were so excited to see your brother,” Mrs Weasley noted, fixing her sons with a stern and skeptical stare.

“Oh mother, we’re not,” George replied.

“We’re excited to mess with him for a week straight,” Fred added with the largest grin you had ever seen.

As soon as the words left his mouth, more of a promise than anything else, the front door swung open and in entered the most prestigious Weasley of the house. With his rigorous work schedule, you hadn’t seen Percy once this entire summer. But now, here he was, standing in the kitchen in a three piece suit with a pocket watch and shiny black shoes at 8 in the morning.

“Hi Percy,” you said, trying your best not to laugh at the long tail of his suit coat.

“Whatthehell are you wearing?” Fred asked, his face shocked as he took in Percy’s outfit. George’s face was bright red as he held in his laughter.

“This,” Percy said, unironically spinning so everyone could see his outfit, “Is traditional Muggle-wear. As I climb higher in the Ministry’s success ladder, sometimes I have to encounter Muggles, so I must dress accordingly. This particular suit was a gift from one of my many clients.”

He turned to you and you tried to wipe the teasing smile off your face. “Y/n, this is what muggles wear to their jobs, isn’t it?” he asked.

You schooled your features into seriousness. “Oh yes,” you responded, “definitely.”

At that moment, Ron, Harry, Ginny, and Hermione stumbled down the stairs, looking like they had just woken up. Everyone stayed up late last night playing nighttime Quidditch (an especially difficult yet fun game considering the fact that you can’t see the bludgers because of how dark it is).

Ron froze when he saw Percy standing in the kitchen, his shoes so shiny they were reflecting the kitchen lights into the eyes of anyone who looked at them.

“Bloody hell, what happened to your clothes?” he asked incredulously. Him and Harry shared a look and then burst out in laughter.

Percy’s ears turned pink at the tips as he huffed before sitting down in one of the chairs around the kitchen table. You and Mrs Weasley decorated the center of the table with plate after plate of delicious warm breakfast food. Proud of your hard work, you took off your apron and sat down next to Percy.

Ron sat down next to you as the others joined the table.

“For your information, Ronald, your girlfriend says my clothes are the proper Muggle attire,” Percy said, glaring at his little brother.

“She’s not my girlfriend,” Ron responded, his ears turning pink now too.

“How’s Penelope?” you asked Percy before you could let yourself get too caught up in the fact that youreally wanted Ron’s response to that question to be different.

Percy smiled at the mention of his longtime girlfriend, who had been a Prefect at Hogwarts with him. “Oh she’s fantastic,” Percy said before launching into a long-winded story about Penelope’s latest project she was working on at the ministry. Words such as “top-secret” “highly important” and “imperative job” floated past your ears.

Ron leaned closer to you and mumbled in your ear, “I wish you hadn’t asked him that.”

“Me too,” you whispered back, giggling behind your hand.

As breakfast began, you were proud of all the compliments you received on your cooking. Waking up early to cook with Mrs Weasley was a part of the day you always looked forward too, and the compliments only made you feel better about it.

After everyone finished eating, and cleared their plates, chairs scraped against the wood of the floor as everyone prepared to go about their daily business.

“Wait!” Percy shouting, using his wand to spell everyone back into their chairs. “Nobody leave this table until we discuss my birthday party details.”

Theses past few weeks your brain had been so focused on Ron that you had forgotten Percy’s huge birthday party that was taking place at the Burrow next week. From the guilty expressions of everyone else around the table, you could tell they had forgotten too.

“I want this party to be perfect,” Percy said. “My bosses are coming to this party, as is Penelope, so I will not tolerate any shenanigans.” He fixed his eyes on the twins and gave them an icy glare. “I mean it, no funny business.”

Fred and George saluted him, shouting “yes mother” before jumping out of their chairs and running to their room. A memory flashed in your head from the beginning of summer. The twins were showing you fireworks in their room, “special fireworks for Percy’s party” they had said. There was definitely going to be some shenanigans taking place.

Increasingly interested about what kind of pranks the twins were going to pull on Percy, you excused yourself from the table and followed them upstairs. You were about to knock on their door before it swung open and Fred dragged you inside.

“Can I have a sneak peek?” you asked them giddily as soon as the door closed behind you. Apart from the twins, you were the most excited about their funny products and pranks they always pulled. You knew Percy’s party wasn’t going to disappoint.

Instead of reciprocating your excitement, the twins traded nervous glances.

“What is it?” you asked them. You felt a strange sense of deja vu to the time when they picked you up to drive you to the Burrow in the beginning of summer. They were hiding something from you then, and they were certainly hiding something from you now.

“So we take it you’re not going to tell Ron about your unconditional love for him anytime soon?” George asked, rubbing the back of his neck with a sheepish expression on his face. Fred was ringing his hands nervously next to him.

“That is correct,” you responded flatly.

“Well, you see,” Fred began, “When we ordered these special fireworks for Percy’s party, we assumed you two would be dating and in love by the time of the party. And the thing is, there’s no refunds on the fireworks, so we kind of have to use them.” He spoke so fast that the words were tumbling together in your head.

“Okay…what does that mean? What do the fireworks have to do with Ron and I?” you asked, getting increasingly more upset by the moment.

The twins must have sensed your anger because they traded a quick glance before assuring you “Okay, never mind, love, everything is under control,” Fred promised.

“Yep, totally under control,” George said, steering you out of the room. You didn’t even register what they were saying before you were standing in the hallway.

“What aren’t you telling me?” you asked, eyes narrowing into a glare at the twins.

They both gulped nervously.

“Don’t worry about it, y/n, everything is fine. Percy’s party will be full of lots of laughs and fun,” Fred promised, before promptly shutting the door in your face. Once again, you got deja vu.

And with that, you left the twins room, feeling even more confused about your relationship with Ron than ever.

                                                                                              …

The next week was frantic, hectic, and insane as you all scrambled to prepare for Percy’s big party. Decorations needed to be made, food needed to be cooked, and you totally forgot to get Percy a present. After a day trip to Diagon Alley, you had returned home with a bag of more owl food for Dite and a magical watch for Percy. Despite all of the high energy and excitement in the house, the twins words still weighed on you. The party was quickly approaching and you had yet to “confess your unconditional love” to Ron. What would happen if you didn’t? You didn’t even want to think about it.

It was the night before Percy’s party, and you were in the garden helping Bill string up lights around the outdoor tables. You and Bill had been spending a lot more time together over the past week. Bill had always opted to help you in whatever decoration or cooking you were tasked with for that day. Although you could tell that made Ron grumpy, you tried to ignore it. Your feelings were confusing enough without trying to unpack Ron’s jealousy at the moment.

You wobbled on the chair you were standing on as you tied the last string of lights around the nearest tree branch. After you finished, you put your hands on your hips and took a look around the garden. It looked amazing. 10 tables were arranged in a neat circle around the yard, completed with white table clothes and centerpieces with Percy’s photo in the middle. You bought a couple packs of muggle Christmas lights to hang from the trees to illuminate the area, which Mr Weasley was very happy about. He spent about 2 hours asking you about the mechanics behind muggle electricity.

There was a long table for the buffet to be served at and a short circular table for Percy’s gifts to be placed on. At the corner of the garden the twins had set up a firing booth for the fireworks. To be totally honest, the decoration fit more for a wedding than a birthday party, but Percy wanted things to be perfect, so the family followed his decoration ideas to a tee.

While being distracted by observing your handiwork, you weren’t really paying attention to what was happening behind you. This was unfortunate because Harry and Ron were practicing disarming charms right behind you.

“Y/n, look out!” you heard someone yell behind you. Whipping around towards the voice, you saw a red ball of sparks sailing towards you from the end of Harry’s wand. How did Harry always manage to accidentally attack you?

You dove from your chair to avoid the sparks, and were fully expecting to land roughy in the grass. Instead, you felt strong arms wrap around you to prevent you from hitting the ground. You looked up to see none other than Bill Weasley as your knight in shining armour.

“Thanks,” you said quietly.

Bill didn’t let his arms drop from around you.

“Anytime,” he replied with a grin. His arms were still wrapped around you when you heard angry footsteps marching towards you.

“Get your hands off her, you prat,” you heard Ron’s voice say. Bill’s arms dropped from your sides as you both turned to face Ron.

“Calm down, Ron,” Bill told him.

Ron glared at his older brother. “Stop flirting with her, she’s my best friend,” he said sternly.

Your heart hurt. You wanted Ron to be jealous because he liked you, not because you were just his best friend.

“He can flirt with me if he wants.” The words were out of your mouth before you could even filter it.

Ron’s gaze snapped towards you and you almost had to take a step back from their intensity.  "Do you want him to?“ He asked you, his voice strained.

The answer was easy. No. You knew you didn’t want Bill to flirt with you. He had been your first crush and he was beyond attractive, but he wasn’t Ron. The only person you wanted was Ron. You said those words not because you wanted Bill, but because you wanted Ron to stop acting possessive if he didn’t even love you back. It just hurt too much for him to act like your boyfriend if he was never going to be.

"Ron, I’m sorry,” Bill said, mediating the situation. “I know you and y/n have something together, I shouldn’t have overstepped. I’m sorry. It won’t happen again.”

It won’t happen again.

That’s exactly what Ron told you after the night he had taken the love potion. The night that made you believe that maybe he did have the same feelings for you. But in the end, he regretted the moment that you had loved so much.

It won’t happen again.

Tears crowded your vision and you tried your best to blink them away, you were not about to cry in front of him and show him just how much power he had over you and your emotions. But soon there were hot tears slipping down your cheeks and there was nothing you could do to stop it.

Bill and Harry exchanged nervous glances as you and Ron just continued staring at each other. They both took a couple steps away to give you and Ron the space you needed to hash things out. Ron was breathing heavily, obviously still angry from the flirting between you and his brother. But you were angry too, angry that he didn’t want you the way you wanted him.

“I don’t want you flirting with my brother,” he said, his intense gaze never leaving yours.

You rolled your eyes, “It’s not your choice if I do.”

Ron bristled at your comment, taking another step closer to you. You could practically feel the heat and anger radiating off of him.

“You know, you’ve really been pissing me off these past couple weeks,” he said. “You prance around making breakfast in the mornings, but in reality all you’re doing is trying to get with Bill. It’s so fucking frustrating! I’m your best friend, we were supposed to be together every day you visited, but instead you found someone better to spend your time with.”

God, he was thick.  You told him that.

“I’m not trying to get with Bill, you dumb git!” you shouted back. Why couldn’t he see that he was the only one you wanted. Bill hadn’t even crossed your mind this summer, your heart was too full of Ron as it is.

At this point, you were practically nose to nose with him, your shouting words bringing you closer and closer towards each other.

Ron mimicked you from earlier and rolled his eyes. It was beyond infuriating. You set your jaw and clenched your hands as you tried not to yell more.

“Oh of course you’re not. You just spend every waking moment with him and barely hang out with me, but sure you’re not trying to get with him,” he said, sarcasm dripping from his voice.

Now it was your turn to get angry. “Oh really? I’m the one to blame right now?” You shouted at him. The words were hot rolling off your tongue.

“You’re the one who treats me so poorly! You cuddle me in your bed, and then run out the next morning. You almost kiss me and then act like it didn’t happen! You told me what happened in your room was a mistake,” the last sentence flew out of you, the anger just boiling and boiling up towards your breaking point.

Even though you knew it wouldn’t do you any good, you kept talking. “Don’t you dare try to put blame on me for this summer going to shit, because it’s not my fault Ron! It’s not my fault you’re jealous of Bill, it’s not my fault things aren’t the same between us, and it’s not my fault you don’t love me back!”

Both of you froze as the words left your mouth. You wanted Ron to say something, needed him to say something, but he remained silent. You couldn’t read his emotions and it was going to drive you crazy.

Ron stared at you, his eyes full to the brim with turbulent emotions that you couldn’t read. All he did was shake his head.

“I don’t want you with Bill,” he finally said.

“You’re not my boyfriend! You’ve made that perfectly clear!” You shouted back, your voice cracking halfway through the sentence.

Ron raked his hands through his messy hair, obvious frustrated. “If I were your boyfriend…” he started. “If I were your boyfriend… I wouldn’t….” He glanced up at you and the words stopped forming at his mouth. You had tear streaks on your face and your eyes were still watery. The look of you must have shaken him too much for him to continue speaking.

“But you’re fucking not! So stop acting like you are, because it hurts too much,” you responded, all the fire gone from your argument. Instead it was replaced with a sad silence, the only sounds were the rustle in the tree branches and your occasional sniffle.

“I never meant to hurt you,” he said, taking a step closer with his hand out to you, almost like he was thinking of reaching out to you.

You couldn’t do this. You couldn’t stay there, letting him reach out to touch you. It was clear he didn’t love you back, so you couldn’t stay and let him hold you when there wasn’t any hope. You backed away from him, shaking your head as tears continued to fall down your cheeks.

“You did. You do,” you said, your voice barely above a whisper. If not for Ron’s body suddenly becoming stiff, you would have thought he didn’t hear you.

“Y/n, please…” he began, but no words followed. You shook your head again before turning and running back inside to the Burrow.

Nobody moved when you entered the dimly lit house. The family was sitting around the crackling fire, chatting with one another. But all talk stopped as soon as you entered.

Hastily wiping the tears from your eyes, you tried to make yourself presentable.

“Sweetheart,” Mrs Weasley said with that loving tone of hers only a mother could have, “are you alright?”

You nodded, despite the fact that you knew none of them believed you.

“I’m just a little tired is all, I think I’m going to head up to bed,” you said, before climbing the stairs as quickly as possible.

As soon as you entered your makeshift room in the attic, you slammed the door shut behind you. You couldn’t even make it to the bed before you crumbled onto the ground, your back pressed against the door. Drawing your knees up to your chest, you buried your head in your arms and let yourself cry.

Sobs racked your body as you replayed the conversation from outside. Ron didn’t want you. He didn’t love you back. He was angry and jealous, but he still didn’t love you back.

You stayed there, pressed against the door for the next hour. Everyone headed up to bed at some point and Hermione and Ginny came to check on you. They explained how Harry told them about what happened outside but you just asked them to let you be alone for now. Being the good friends they are, they listened to your request, but not before Ginny promised to “beat Ron to a pulp for hurting you” the next morning.

Even Harry came to check on you. He was visibly uncomfortable, crying girls were never his strong suit (as you could remember from his first kiss with Cho Chang) but he still managed to give you a comforting hug. You thanked him and he left almost as quickly as he arrived.

You got ready for bed in a trance, your eyes now swollen from the crying. Slipping on your pajamas, you barely noticed you were throwing on the vintage band shirt Ron had gotten you for a gift earlier. This only made you cry more. Dite landed on your shoulder as you lay in your bed. She affectionately pecked your ear and nuzzled her feathers against your cheek.

“I’m okay, Dite,” you told her, petting her soft feathers. Your fingers traced the black heart on her head. Ron bought you an owl named Aphrodite, with a heart literally on her feathers, but he couldn’t even tell you he loved you. These mixed signals made your head and heart both throb.

You fell asleep fitfully, waking up every couple of hours and tossing and turning in bed. Tomorrow was Percy’s party, and you had to be okay for it. You couldn’t let Ron know just how much he had hurt you. You would be fine tomorrow. You would be fine, just like you had been these past few weeks. You would be fine.

Chapter 9: Mistakes and Love Potions

You barely got a wink of sleep that night. Every time you closed your eyes, you could see Ron’s eyes filled with regret. What had been the hottest moment in your entire life was punctuated by Ron wishing it hadn’t had happened. Maybe it shouldn’t have. Maybe you got carried away and he didn’t actually feel any attraction to you. His mind was probably cloudy from it being so late and you just throwing yourself at him in the middle of the night.

A bright light switched on which jostled you out of your thoughts.

“Rise and shine,” Hermione sang, seeming very excited for so early in the morning.

“What time is it?” Ginny asked, her voice groggy and her hair a bird’s nest.

“About 8am,” Hermione replied, already folding her blankets and putting them away neatly. She always liked to wake up early. Maybe that’s why she always did so well in school.

Ginny angrily threw a pillow at her as you buried your head back into your blankets with a groan. You didn’t want it to be morning. You didn’t want to have to walk downstairs and face Ron in the light of day. Again, his face flashed in your mind. Regret

Hermione threw the pillow back at Ginny, hitting her in the back of the head with surprising accuracy. “Get up, lazybones!”

After 20 minutes of bickering, Hermione had finally coaxed Ginny out of bed. Ginny’s room was a whirl of clothes as all three of you got dressed for the day. Your movements were delibertly slow, the thought of having to see Ron making you dread the journey downstairs. But soon enough, you couldn’t delay your inevitable fate anymore and the three of you headed downstairs for breakfast.

Usually the smell of Mrs Weasley’s famous bacon and eggs was a wonderful greeting in the morning, but this time your joy was dampened when you saw the back of Ron’s head sitting at the breakfast table. Pretty much everyone was awake and sitting around the long wooden table, except for Percy and Mr Weasley who were both working.

“Good morning dears!” Mrs Weasley said, plopping a large egg with hash browns onto a plate before handing it to you. Thanking her, you took the plate and turned towards the table. Without making eye contact with anyone, you took the furthest seat from Ron, which happened to be right next to Bill.

“Morning y/n,” he said, giving you a closed lip smile as he chewed his breakfast.

Looking up at him, you smiled back politely. He was wearing a black button up shirt with the top three buttons undone. His pale chest contrasted greatly with the dark material, but he made it look good. His dark clothes, long hair, and dragon tooth earring made him look like a sexy vampire. No wonder you had such a big crush on him when you were younger.

“Morning,” you replied.

“I heard about your fall during Quidditch yesterday,” he said, trying to make casual breakfast conversation. Although you were usually chatty with the Weasleys, your heart was hurting too much to put much effort into talking today.

“Yeah, I did” was all you said.

“Reckon it was Fred or George’s fault, huh?” Bill asked with a wink. You laughed lightly but kept your eyes glued to your breakfast. Looking up at the others would only make you want to look at Ron. And if you looked at Ron, and if he looked back with the same eyes from last night….your heart sank at the very thought.

A breakfast roll sailed overhead but Bill caught it in one hand before taking a large bite out of it.

“Good throw,” he said to the twins, before turning his attention back to you. “Your cut looks like it’s healed up nicely,” he commented.

You nodded, “Yeah, Ron helped patch me up.”

Just saying his name sent an ache throughout you but you still avoided looking towards his end of the table.

But then you felt someone leaning closer to you, the smell of pine needles filling your nose. It was a pleasant smell, but not as nice as apples and cinnamon.

From under your lashes you looked up to see Bill closing the distant between you rather quickly. Your heart skipped a beat as he raised a hand to brush your hair away from your face.

“Yeah, looks like he did an alright job,” Bill said, lifting your hair to observe the healed bump on your forehead.

Second year y/n would have fainted in this moment. Bill Weasley, your first real crush, was leaning across a table to touch you? He was looking at you intently while brushing your hair away from your face? You should have been ecstatic. You should have been sweating from head to toe. But you weren’t. Instead, all you could think about is how you wished you were smelling apples and cinnamon instead of pine needles.

“Oi, mate, stop flirting with her or I’ll throw up my breakfast,” George replied. Laughs erupted from the table and your face burned red.

You couldn’t help yourself, your eyes glanced up and you immediately made eye contact with Ron. He was looking between you and Bill, an angry sort of look on his face. You knew he had problems with jealousy, being The Chosen One’s best friend came with those kinds of setbacks, but why was he jealous about this? He was the one who regretted everything from last night, not you. An anger boiled up in your stomach, the image of Ron’s regretful eyes playing on a loop in your head. Suddenly, you wanted to make him just as hurt as he had made you.

Turning back towards Bill, you put on your most charming smile. “I mean, you can flirt with me if you want to. Not that I’d mind,” you said, batting your eyelashes. You were half joking, but half wanting to piss off Ron.

Ginny chuckled as Bill’s cheeks took on a slightly warmer color. Fred and George faked puking into their cereal bowls. You looked at Ron and were pleased to see he looked absolutely furious. His knuckles were white from how hard he was gripping his fork.

“Maybe y/n took our missing Amortentia from last night,” Fred joked.

Your heart stopped as you turned to face the twins.

“Huh?” You asked.

Fred smiled before he launched into explanation.

“We had a couple boxes of chocolates with Amortentia drops in them in our room. We were planning on putting a few in Percy’s morning tea, but when we tried to find them they were gone. Based on your flirting this morning, maybe you had eaten a couple,” he said.

You shook your head, a feeling of dread starting to fill you stomach.

“I didn’t take them,” you responded. But you think you knew who did.

Ron cleared his throat uncomfortably before asking, “Were they in a blue box? With a little pink ribbon around it?”

Fred and George nodded their heads, every head at the table swerving to look at Ron.

Ron swallowed nervously. “Uh, I might’ve eaten them. Not on purpose though!” He promised, his face looking guiltier by the minute. “I was hungry when I was in your room the other night, so I took a couple of boxes. I didn’t know they had Amortentia in them.”

“Did you feel any different? Do anything different?” George asked, looking at Ron skeptically. Ron shook his head, and you knew he was trying his very best not to look at you.

Fred swore, which earned a disapproving glare from Mrs Weasley. “That means they’re defective. We’ll have to make a whole new batch before we can sell them at the shop.”

“Or maybe,” Hermione interjected, “You shouldn’t be selling love potions at all! They are one of the most dangerous potions, and it is clearly wrong to be selling them in the first place. Honestly, didn’t either of you pay attention in Potions class?” She looked distressed, obviously very upset that the twins didn’t recall the negative side effects of Amortentia that Professor Snape had taught.

“Psh,” Fred said, brushing her off with a wave of his hand as the conversation at the table changed. Everyone was talking about their plans for the day, full of ideas of playing Quidditch or Gobstones or maybe even taking a trip to the Leaky Cauldron for lunch. Usually you would join the conversation, but your heart felt like it was cracking in half. The only reason Ron acted the way he did last night was because he was high off of love potion, he didn’t actually feel anything for you. He didn’t feel the same way you did, and you started to doubt if he ever will. Before tears could form in the corner of your eyes, Mrs Weasley made a statement that drew everyone’s attention.

“You will be doing nothing of the sort today. Today you’re all going to finish your summer Hogwarts homework,” she held her hand up sternly to stop Harry and Ron from protesting, “no if’s, and’s, or’s, or but’s!” Her tone let everyone know that her word was final.

Everyone around the table groaned, except for those who had already graduated and Hermione who clapped happily at the mention of school work.

For the rest of the day, you and Hermione sat at the dining table working hard while everyone else half-assed their homework. Ginny and Harry sat on the couch, distracting each other and joking, while occasionally picking up a quill to write. Ron sat alone leaning against a tree outside with his books open but a blank expression on his face. You sighed unhappily as your gaze wandered over to him for the millionth time that hour.

“Okay, what’s up,” Hermione said, surprising you by setting down her quill and closing her Transfiguration book.

“Nothing,” you lied, pretending to write an answer to your Divination homework. But your brain was too scrambled and your heart too heavy to get any real work done at the moment.

Hermione yanked your parchment out from under you to read your work.

“Hey!” You protested, but she started reading your answer aloud anyway.

“What does the moons transit into Venus this month mean for your love life?”  Hermione scoffed. “What a load of crap.”

You nodded. Usually your grades were pretty good, not as good as Hermione’s, but you were better at Divination. For some reason Professor Trelawney liked you and said you had an “inherently observant third eye.” But today, your third eye must have been squinting because most of your homework answers were a little ridiculous.

“You answered with, ‘Venus is just a big ball in the sky, therefore it knows nothing of love,’ ” Hermione gave you a wary look. “I hate Divination and even I know that’s not the correct answer.”

Shrugging, you grabbed the paper back from her and continued writing bullshit answers. The moon’s transit into Venus was supposed to bring abundant love and joy, but right now that felt like the worst prediction in the world. The only boy you cared about couldn’t even kiss you, even when he had taken love potion. What does that say about his feelings towards you?

“Y/n, tell me what’s wrong,” Hermione said, her voice almost as stern as Mrs Weasley’s. Something happened with Ron, didn’t it?,“

You had been holding in how you felt all day, and it was going to drive you mad. But just at the mention of his name, your emotional dam broke open. Before you could stop yourself, you gushed out everything that had happened last night to Hermione, your voice hitching towards the end when you recalled Ron looking at you with such regret in his eyes.

"Oh, honey,” Hermione said, wrapping her hands around yours. “That’s hard, but I think the best thing you could do is just talk to him about it.” At the moment, you didn’t really want to hear Hermione’s advice. She was always right, and right now you just wanted to wallow in your self-pity.

She patted your hand, and inclined her chin towards the window, where you could see Ron sitting outside with a puzzled expression on his face.

“He hasn’t written anything for the past 20 minutes, he’s probably just as confused and upset as you are. Either that or he just started his Potions homework. Either way, just go tell him how you feel, you’ll feel better,” she promised.

You nodded, thanking her for always giving you the most wise advice. Before you could lose your nerve to do so, you packed up your books and parchment and walked outside. Ron heard you approaching and set his quill in his book before shutting it and setting it beside him. The trunk of the large oak tree he leaned against was thick enough that he didn’t even have to move over as you plopped down next to him. The hard bark of the tree pressed into your back but it was comforting to feel something to keep you grounded as you started this tricky conversation.

“Hi,” you said, refusing to look at him. His face was turned towards you but you couldn’t bring yourself to turn towards him. If you did, you wouldn’t be able to stop yourself from kissing him.

“Hi,” he replied.

A long silence stretched out into the summer air before you both started talking at the same time.

“I wanted to talk to y-”

“We should probably t-”

Blushing, both of you stopped.

“You go first,” you said.

Ron nodded, his hands fiddling with the grass in front of him. He kept pulling at the roots, rolling the grass between his fingertips, and then pulling at the roots again. It was like he couldn’t keep his hands still, like he had to be doing something with them. You desperately wanted to reach over and grab his hands in yours, but before you could muster up the courage to do so, he began to speak.

“I wanted to apologize for last night,” he said. Your heart dropped. You came out here to tell him you had an amazing time and the only bad part was that you hadn’t had the courage to go further, to kiss him. Yet here he was, apologizing. Apologizing as if last night had been a mistake.

“I didn’t know I ate Fred and George’s Amortentia, so that’s probably why I was acting so…funny,” he said, trying to find the right word. His voice was low and he was talking fast, like he always did when he was nervous. “So, anyway, I just wanted to say I’m sorry, and it won’t happen again.”

Your breath caught in your throat.

“It won’t happen again?” You asked, desperately hoping that wasn’t true. You turned to look Ron in the eyes, and as soon as you did he looked away.

“It was a mistake,” he said, his adams apple bobbing up and down as he spoke.

“Oh,” was all you managed to say.

And then Ron was standing up. He was standing up, gathering his school things, and walking away. Before you could even register what had happened, he was gone. You watched his retreating figure enter the house as you felt a hot tear slip down your cheek.

A mistake.

The word repeated in your brain and you choked on a sob. All you wanted, all you ever wanted from him was full honesty. And he had given it to you. He didn’t want you, not in the same way you wanted him. You had to accept that. You had to.

So you gave yourself 15 minutes. 15 minutes to sit outside, cry, and let yourself be sad about how the boy you loved didn’t love you back. After those 15 minutes, you promised yourself, you would walk back into the Burrow and pretend nothing happened. You would pretend Ron hadn’t almost kissed you in the bathroom upstairs. You would pretend he hadn’t cuddled with you the night he first came back to the Burrow, and you would pretend he hadn’t touched you with such passion the night before. You would pretend you weren’t deeply, madly in love with him.

You would go back to being best friends, just best friends. And you had to be okay with that, or else you would lose him.

Chapter 5: A Morning Surprise

image

That morning, you awoke to a surprised gasp.

You jolted upwards to look towards the sound, promptly smacking your head against Ron’s.

“Ow,” you both mumbled, fully awake now. With the nose injury from last night, and this today, Ron was going to be covered in bruises by the time the summer was over.

Your eyes settled upon a stunned looking Harry Potter standing in the doorway. His mouth was open, his eyes wide. Perhaps he wasn’t expecting to walk into his best friend’s room and see him cuddled up with a girl.

Words couldn’t form in your mouth to explain the inappropriate situation. How could you explain how you looked right now- hair disheveled, under the covers, with Ron’s arm still wrapped tightly around you.

As Ron was about to speak, Harry’s face broke out into a wide grin. Smirking he said, “well done, mate.”

“Well done? Well done for what?” You heard a familiar voice say from the hallway. Within seconds, Hermione’s head was peeking into the doorway.

“Oh my!” She exclaimed, throwing her hands up to her mouth in shock.

Harry chuckled as you heard even more footsteps approaching.

“What is it, Hermione?” you heard Ginny call before she, too, entered the small room, freezing when she saw you and Ron.

“Fred! George! Get in here!” she yelled, her lips forming into the same satisfied smile Harry wore.

“Oh please let’s just invite the whole family,” Ron said sarcastically. The room was already crowded with the 5 bodies in it, every eye strained upon you and Ron. But oddly enough, his arm was still wrapped protectively around your waist.

Soon, Fred and George apperated into the room, standing at the bottom of the bed.

“Would you look at that Georgie,” Fred said, nudging his brother in the side. “I believe you owe me 5 galleons.” George rolled his eyes and handed over the coins.

“You bet on us?” Ron asked. His face was growing red, but more from annoyance than embarrassment.

The twins nodded at the same time.

You made eye contact with Ginny and Hermione, who were both grinning, their eyes sparkling. They knew you’d had a crush on Ron for years, and they mistakenly thought you had confessed to him, leading to the sleeping together situation. Terrified that they would say how you felt about him, when in reality you hadn’t confessed anything at all, you spoke up.

“It’s not what it looks like,” you mumbled, really wishing it was what it looked like.

Ron glanced at you and then let his arm slip from your waist. You felt your body get colder as he moved away from you.

“Nothing happened, like it ever would,” Ron said, his voice dripping with dry sarcasm. You felt your heart drop as you processed his words.

“Like it ever would.” Does that mean he didn’t want anything to happen between you?

“So you can give him your money back,” Ron grumbled at Fred, getting out of bed and walking straight out the door. You heard his loud footsteps march downstairs to the kitchen. His angry attitude left an uncomfortable silence in the room.

You groaned, covering your face with your hands.

“I take it you didn’t tell him then?” Hermione asked, sitting on the side of the bed and soothingly brushing your hair with her fingers.

“No, I didn’t,” you replied.

“Tell him what?” Harry asked cluelessly.

Hermione and Ginny shared a look. “Boys,” they muttered together, shaking their heads at Harry’s oblivion.

The twins took it upon themselves to thoroughly explain the situation to Harry.

“You see, our friend y/n here is in love with Ron. Has been for quite a while, we reckon. So when we see the two of them canoodling together in bed in the morning, one gets to thinking that maybe some confessions were made,” Fred told him with a smug smirk.

Keeping your head in your hands, you didn’t look at Harry.

“Well that’s perfect!” Harry blurted out, “Ron feels the same way!”

Your head shot up and you stared at him.

“He does?” you asked him. Of course you knew that Ron treated you different from his other friends, but you never wanted to jump to conclusions.

“Well I mean, yeah. He’s never outright said anything about it, but I can tell,” Harry explained.

You groaned again, the swell of hope in your chest quickly dying down. No offense to Harry, but sometimes his intuition wasn’t the best. You thought back to the countless times he was convinced Draco Malfoy had poisoned his morning pumpkin juice.

“I hate to break it to you lot, because you seemed quite excited barging in here this morning, but I’m positive he doesn’t feel the same way. Did you hear him? ‘Like it ever would.’ That means he doesn’t want anything to happen with us,” you huffed.

Ginny shook her head.

“No, it means he’s a stupid git who doesn’t know how to say what he’s feeling,” she said confidently.

You wanted to believe her. You really did. But if he felt the same way, he would’ve said something by now. Last night was the perfect opportunity, and he didn’t tell you anything. That was all the confirmation you needed that your feelings were one-sided.

Throwing your legs over the side of the bed, you stood up. Although you felt your heart break slightly, you couldn’t let this ruin your summer.

“Let’s just forget this happened, okay?” You said, looking each of them in the eye. “Please don’t mention it again, he’s already pissed off enough.”

Your friends nodded, but not without reluctance.

“Mum’s making eggs this morning, then we could play a game of Quidditch in the backyard,” Ginny offered. You thanked her silently for following your request.

“Sounds great, I brought my Firebolt,” Harry said.

And with that, the crowd change the topic of conversation to Quidditch. Their chat continued as everyone made their way to the kitchen.

Left alone upstairs, you changed out of your pajamas. You reached into your trunk to put on your favorite t-shirt. It was a vintage muggle band t-shirt that you used to listen to with your dad all the time, before travel got in the way and you barely saw him anymore. Ron, with the help of Mr. Weasley who knew the muggle world better than he did, searched high and low for this one specific shirt for your birthday last year. You loved the shirt and wore it all the time, Ron always was a great gift giver for you.

At the thought, you turned your attention to your new owl, who had just woken up. She was as adorable as when you first saw her. Friends get each other amazing gifts all the time, this doesn’t mean he’s in love with you, you tried to remind yourself.

“Good morning, Dite,” you said, rubbing her tiny head. She pecked your fingers affectionately, before flying over to the bed, where she sat down on Ron’s pillow.

“You saw all that, huh?” You asked. Even the owls saw your embarrassment from this morning.

She nodded her head and then fluttered over to the box of letters under his nightstand. She nudged the side of it with her beak.

“They don’t mean anything,” you told her. She didn’t understand. No one did. Ron, despite your best wishes, wasn’t in love with you. It was just a fact you needed to accept.

You cocked your head towards the door. “C'mon,” you said to Dite. She flew onto your shoulder and nuzzled into your neck.

“We have a Quidditch match to win.”

Chapter 4: Nighttime Conversations

You awoke to the sound of quiet shuffling in the corner of the room. You opened your eyes but didn’t dare move. The wizarding world had become increasingly dangerous lately so you were terrified that there could be some dark wizard lurking in the darkness, ready to kidnap you. Then, you heard someone stub their toe and the sound of a muffled swear eased your fear.

“Ron?” you asked, no longer afraid of the mysterious noises in the room. You flipped over in bed so now you were facing him.

Your cheeks immediately flushed a deep shade of red. Whatever it was you were expecting to see when you turned around, it definitely wasn’t a shirtless Ron.

“H-Hi. Sorry I, er, thought you were asleep,” he stammered, standing frozen as if he was paralyzed.

Your brain was having an intense argument with your eyes to prevent them from dropping from Ron’s face to his bare torso. Unfortunately, you were weak, so your gaze fell ever so slightly and your face got even redder. The years of Quidditch seemed to really have paid off because Ron’s chest was toned. Freckles littered his shoulders and chest like constellations and you fought the urge to run your fingers over every single one of then. You tried your very best not to notice his prominent v-line leading to the waistband of his pajama bottoms.

Ron’s face was the same color as his hair as he hastily threw a shirt on, to your great disappointment.

“I couldn’t sleep well in normal clothes so I came up to get some pajamas…didn’t mean to wake you,” he muttered quietly, his eyes locked in a staring contest with the floor.

It took a second for you to snap your attention to his words when all your brain was thinking about was him half naked only a moment ago.

“S'okay,” you said, matching his soft tone.

An odd silence filled the room, a silence that usually wasn’t present in conversations with your best friend.

You scooted over closer to the wall, making as much room as you could in the small bed.

Ron took your silent cue and laid down next to you, folding his arms behind his neck as he leaned against the bed frame.

“Couch not treating you well?” you asked, keeping your tone light in hopes he hadn’t noticed how you were ogling at him a minute ago.

He groaned, “I don’t know how old that couch is, but I think my mum got it before her and Dad were even married. It’s like sleeping on rocks.”

“I can sleep down there if you want,” you offered, feeling guilty for taking his room.

Ron was shaking his head before you even finished your sentence.

“No way, I’m a gentleman. I can’t do that,” he told you.

You snorted at his choice of words. “You’re the furthest thing from it,” you joked.

He playfully slapped your shoulder.

“It’s true!” you defended yourself. “I don’t think we’ve had one conversation at the dining hall where you’re not talking with your mouth full.”

His shoulders, clad in his red Chudley Cannons pajama shirt, jostled up and down with quiet laughter. You noticed there was a small hole in the middle of the shirt and you could see his pale skin moving underneath the cloth.

Forcing your eyes back up to meet his, you tried to change the subject.

“So why were you in Diagon Alley for so long?” you asked nervously, praying he hadn’t noticed your eyes betraying your better judgment once again.

At this question, Ron beamed.

“They really kept the secret?” he asked, excitedly hopping out of the bed. “Nobody told you? Not even Ginny?”

Confused, you shook your head.

“I got you a present,” Ron explained as he walked to the window and opened it, letting in the fresh nighttime summer air. “I asked the family to not tell you what it was, but I half expect them to anyways. But I’m glad they didn’t, I wanted it to be a surprise.”

You followed him out of bed, sitting next to him on the windowsill. You watched as he leaned out of the window, put his fingers to his lips, and let out a short whistle. Nothing happened, and you craned your head out the window to see what he was calling for.

The night was empty, all you could see were the rolling fields outside of the Burrow and the garden gnomes throwing rocks at one another.

You were about to pull your head back into the room, when you saw a small pink blur soaring through the air. It looked like it was getting closer and closer to the window.

“What is that?” you asked, looking to Ron for answers but were met with only his large grin.

Suddenly, the pink blur shot into the bedroom. You turned around, stunned as you saw Ron cradling it. Taking a step forward, you were delighted to see it was a creature.

“An owl?” you asked excitedly, as you stood next to Ron to see the creature closer.

It was miniature, about the size of Ron’s owl Pigwidgeon, but a million times more adorable. Pink feathers surrounded large blue eyes and you noticed a black heart shaped marking on the top of its head.

“Her name’s Aphrodite. I call her Dite though,” Ron told you, glancing up at you from under his lashes to see your reaction.

You were beaming from ear to ear.

“She’s amazing,” you said.

Ron grinned. “Good, because she’s yours,” he said, moving closer so he could set the small creature into your hands. She reluctantly stepped off of Ron’s palms, but once you gave her a small pat on the head, she nuzzled into your hands.

“I know how upset you were about Celeste, so I wanted to cheer you up. I spent days in Eeylops Owl Emporium looking for the perfect one and then one day Dite showed up. She’s pretty affectionate and a fast flyer, a bit annoying really, but I thought you’d like her,” Ron said. He looked at you again, biting his lip in hopes that you appreciated your gift.

Dite flew onto your shoulder as you lunged forward and wrapped Ron into a tight hug. He let out a little gasp of surprise but then wrapped his arms around your waist, pulling you closer.

“Thank you, I love her,” you said while hugging him.

“I’m glad. Now when we write letters to each other, you’ll have an owl too so Pig won’t get so tired making so many trips,” he said.

At the mention of your letters, guilt knocked the smile off your face. You quickly pushed away from Ron.

“Ikindasortamaybelookedthroughyourpersonalbelongingsandsawtheletters,” you said in one quick breath.

Ron stared at you confused. “Y/n, I didn’t understand one word of that.”

You swallowed nervously before stating slower, “I, er, I was curious about that box under your nightstand so I kinda…opened it. It had my name on it and I saw all my letters you kept,” you said nervously. Dite reflected your emotions and shifted awkwardly from talon to talon on your shoulder.

Ron’s facial expression changed slightly, and you were afraid he was going to be mad at you. Here he was, offering you a place to stay over the summer, buying you an owl, and letting you sleep in his room and how did you repay him? Oh yeah, by snooping into his personal items.

Instead of the anger you were expecting, Ron looked deeply embarrassed.

“Oh,” he sighed, lowering his head and scratching the back of his neck. “Bet you think I’m weird for saving all your letters right? I dunno why I did, I just sometimes liked to reread them when I hadn’t seen you in a while. I guess cause I missed you. I dunno,” he said.

Again, a silence filled the room. He missed you. He missed you. Of course you missed him over the summer, both as a friend misses a friend and as someone misses their crush. You wondered which kind of missing he felt.

“I keep your letters too,” you told him.

Ron finally looked back up at you. “Yeah?” he asked with a hopeful smile.

You nodded, “I reread them when you take a while to reply, sort of as a way to hold me over until the next letter. Or I reread them because your handwriting is so damn awful it takes a couple reads to actually figure out what you wrote.”

He laughed, and just like that the tension was gone.

You spent the next hour or so chatting and playing with Dite. Even though Ron’s watch read 2am, neither of you really cared, you just missed talking to each other. Back at Hogwarts, you would take walks along the Black Lake once a week and time seemed to matter less when you were together. You would stroll around the lake numerous times, your conversation flowing easily, and not even notice how long you had been gone until the sun would set. The same flow came into place now, and before long it was 5am.

By now, you and Ron were laying on his bed, your head leaning against his shoulder. Dite took it upon herself to sit with Pig in his cage, drinking some of the water from his water bottle as he unknowingly snoozed in the back of the cage.

A yawn escaped you as Ron sleepily spoke about the newest broomstick he saw on sale at Diagon Alley.

“It’s late,” he said, glancing at his watch with tired eyes

You nodded, too comfortable to move.

“Is it alright if I stay up here tonight? That couch is bloody awful,” he said.

Heart soaring, you nodded again and scooted closer to the wall to give him more room. He got under the covers with you, slowly wrapping his arm around your back. Now you were cuddling next to Ron, your head on his chest as his fingers drew lazy circles on your back. People who were just friends didn’t lay like this together, right?

Before long, he was snoring. You closed your eyes too. For the first time since you came to The Burrow, you drifted to sleep peaceful and warm. With Ron’s arm wrapped around you, you were more comfortable than you had ever been before.

MY BOY ~ Fred Weasley

Pairing(s): Fred Weasley x Fem!reader

Warnings:Angst

A/N: requests are open, this is my first fic please don’t be mean

My boy, my boy, my boy. Don’t love me like he promised. My boy, my boy, my boy. He ain’t a man and sure as hell ain’t honest.

Y/n and Fred had been dating for almost five months and for y/n it was the most amazing thing in the world cause she was totally in love with him, she knew he was the one when he first saw him at the burrow when they were 5 and since then he has always being her crush, so five months ago at the start of the 7th year when he confessed his feeling towards y/n she couldn’t believe it, at first she thought it was some kind of prank by the way he said it.

———-

“Y/n i have to tell you something that is a matter of life or death”, Fred said with a grin on his pretty face, she didn’t even was paying attention to what he was saying she was just too mesmerized with his beauty, “Are you listening to me ?, Fred asked seeing that she was not paying attention he decides to go straight to the point, “I was saying that you are my crush”, Fred said with a smirk.

Y/n was astonished everything crossed her mind, “is this for real?”, she said but Fred didn’t answer so she felt right to tell him the truth about her feelings, “Fred i’ve being in love with you since we met when we were five, at first it wqs just a silky crush but we gotbolder and got into hogwarts and i realized it wasn’t just a silly crush, what im trying to say is… im in love with you Fred Weasley”, he didn’t know how to react and he just said “i love you” and hugged her.

_______

My boy’s being sus and he don’t know how to cuss. He just sounds like he’s tryna be his father (Who are you?). My boy’s an ugly crier but he’s such a pretty liar and by that I mean he said he’d “change”.

Everything happened so quick, Fred didn’t realized how fast this was going and now they’ve been dating for five months, “When are you going to tell her the truth?”, George asked Fred not realizing someone was listening, they should have been more careful and not be talking this in the common room where everyone could hear them “I don’t want to tell her, is going to break her heart she is the sweetest girl i know”,Fred said with guilt on his face, “Freddie you don’t love her, you can’t be with her just for pity”, George said annoyed almost screaming,” Yeah? Well this would never have happened if you hadn’t made me do that stupid bet, it’s all your fault”,Fred said angry.

“Freddie im telling you she likes you”,George said while laying in his bed in their dorm, “No she doesn’t,we’ve been friends since forever believe me if she liked me as more than friends i would know dear brother”, Fred said calmly and confident, “well then if you are so sure about that…”, George said with a grin, “Go on..”, “Let’s make a bet, 5 sickles that she is in love with you”, “you’re on”, Fred said with confidence and he was sure that he would win the bet, after all she knew y/n for years.

Fred was walking on the halls of Hogwarts and spot y/n a few meters away, he thought it was the perfect moment to prove George that he was wrong, but when she started telling that she loved him he didn’t know what to say, he couldn’t tell her that it was all a bet and that he wasn’t in love with her, so he told y/n that he loved her too, i mean he wasn’t absolutely lying right?, he did love her but not the way she wanted to.

__________

Y/n wanted to surprise Freddie with a gift from hogsmeade we wanted since forever but he couldn’t afford it, so she started saving some money to give it to him, she was so excited to see his reaction that she couldn’t wait to give it to him and going as fast as she could she went to the common room, she spoted Fred right away, but she heard something that she shouldn’t have heard, “Freddie, you don’t love her, you can’t be with her just for pity”.

She just stood there frozen, astonished, broken, without even realizing she started crying and sobbing, Fred and George turn around and saw y/n standing there crying, “y/n i can explain”, fred said with guilt on his eyes, she didn’t even bother on going away from him, she couldn’t even if she wanted to, Fred tried to explain everything to her but she wasn’t listening she was just wishing that all of this was a nightmare that soon she would wake up and hug Fred and he would comfort her and tell her it was just a bad dream that everything is alright but obviously it didn’t happen, she came out of her trance as soon as she heard Fred said “im sorry but im never going to love you, not the way you want me to”, she didn’t utter a word she just left and went to her dorm.

My boy, my boy, my boy. Don’t love me like he promised. My boy, my boy, my boy. He ain’t a man and sure as hell ain’t honest.

It has been 4 months since y/n’s heart have been broken, she tried to move on, she tried to fool herself into believing she didn’t love him anymore so she started dating other guys but nothing ever lasted, until she started dating Matt a slytherin guy, he treated her well, he was kind, sweet and always gave her flowers, he loved her and she loved him back but she knew she would never be able to love someone the way she loved Freddie.

Fred stood in the hall watching how Matt gave yellow flowers to y/n, her favourite flowers, everytime Fred smell those flowers it reminds him of her, her scent, her laugh and her beauty, he then realized he did loved her as more than friends, but know it was too late because she was happy with someone else and he wouldn’t ruin that for her, he fucked up and there was nothing that he could do about it, it’s not like he could go back in time and fix it all… or can he?.

You want me to be yours well then you gotta be mine. And if you want a good girl, then goodbye. You want me to be yours well then you gotta be mine. And if you want a good girl, then goodbye.

the ultimate sacrifice in love is letting go. forced in a situation that you never wanted to be in, you have to make the decision of what’s more important: your happiness or his.

image

Hardly anything in your life has ever come easy to you. Growing up with the knowledge that you’re the daughter of two death eaters. being forced into a life you didn’t want. attempting to concentrate on classes you knew wouldn’t matter once the dark lord blew this castle to smithereens.

the only thing that did come easy to you was loving ronald weasley. the spontaneous, optimistic red haired boy who stole your heart only three years ago. the night of the yule ball, he finally worked up the nerve to tell you how pretty you look in your dress and your heart skipped a beat. you two did not act on your feelings after that for a whole year, finally confessing your feelings to the gryffindor during your fifth year. your love came with rules, however. it had to be in secret. you kept no secrets from him, not now anyway. he knew of your parents loyalty to the dark lord, you knew of his involvement with dumbledore’s army, but you’d never tell anyone.

when you we’re together, you weren’t a slytherin and a gryffindor fighting for different sides of a bloody feud, you were y/n y/l/n and ron weasley, two seventeen year olds who were madly in love with each other. your parents could never know, his friends could never know, so you only existed together behind closed doors.

“do you think there will be a day when i don’t have to keep you—us—a secret anymore?” ron asks as his hands run lighting through your hair. you lay together in the room of requirement as you do every night after sneaking away from your roommates.

you want to tell him yes, that one day this war will blow over, that the two of you will be able to parade around your love for the world. but you can’t lie to him. the more you learn about voldemort’s plans, his mission to kill your boyfriend’s best friend, the more bleak the future becomes.

“i hope so,” is the only reply you can fathom. you know deep down that there is little hope for the two of you. that ron will always be loyal to his best friends and you to your family. there’s no sense in dreaming of a happily ever after that will never come.

so you don’t think of the future. you think of now. you think of the feeling of his arms wrapped around you, one that you’ll cherish until your last breath. you wish you could plan for what could have lied ahead for the two of you, if the world wasn’t what it is. meeting his family, falling into rhythm with the loud and energetic aura of the burrow that ron has told you so much about. moving in with him, marrying him, having a hundred ginger children running around your backyard. how your heart aches for the dream of a life with him.

“i think there will be,” he muses, only making the pain in your chest grow. “i think by some twist of fate we’ll be together forever.”

you wished it was true.

the small glimmer of hope you held in your heart to one day be with ron faded more with every second you spent at malfoy manor. you and draco weren’t so different after all. you only wanted to make your parents proud, you didn’t necessarily want this life. you were also close with the blond boy, even more so the deeper you became embedded in the dark lord’s plans. surrounded by death eaters at the large table in malfoy manor, your heart was in your throat. your parents to your left and draco to your right, you found comfort knowing that draco was probably feeling the same way you were, scared.

the conversation droned out around you, all of them discussing potter, but your mind continued pulling to the boy who was sat back in a safe house somewhere, you never knew where. you sent letters to each other in secret but you begged him not to disclose his location, fearing the knowledge would be torn from you by the dark lord. it had only been a few days, but you miss his letters

“one of our youngest may prove to be more helpful than we initially thought,” the dark lord calls, pulling you from your daydream. your mothers hand fell into your lap and squeezed your hand. “y/n, it seems like you have formed quite the bond with one of potter’s closest confidants, a weasley, no?”

draco snaps his head to look at you, disbelief painting his features. you kept your eyes ahead of you, staring at the details of his crisp table in front of you to distract yourself from the hammering in yours chest.

“well?” the dark lord speaks up again, making you turn your eyes to face him. “don’t leave us waiting for your answer.”

“my lord,” you squeak out, barely audible. draco takes the hand your mother is not holding it to remind you you’re not alone in this. “i will do anything, anything for you. please do not bring him into this.”

he only laughs at you. making your heart twist in fear. you can’t betray ron, you can’t put him in harms way.

“look at how she begs,” he continues to laugh, other adults at the table catching on and joining in on his tease. you’ve never felt more belittled in your life. “you must know something of their whereabouts.”

“i do not, my lord.” you reply in earnest, you had no idea where they were hiding. you’re grateful for your blissful ignorance in this moment. “i swear it.”

the dark lord narrows his eyes toward you. draco squeezes your hand causing your to look at him. ‘tell him’ he mouths, fearing that you’ll be on the other end of an avada kedavra if you don’t. ‘i don’t know’ you mouth back.

the silence is deafening.

“my lord, please. i told you i’ll do anything, anything you wish,” you plead, hoping to come off the topic of ron. “you can search my brain for their whereabouts but i promise i don’t know.”

it’s quiet again. you begin to wonder what ron is doing right now. what he would think if he could see where you are.

“you’ll receive the mark,” the dark lord finally speaks up. “both of you, draco as well.”

you shut your eyes tight at his demand, squeezing draco’s hand tighter. you don’t want the dark mark, neither does draco, but you’ll die if you don’t get it.

“either this or you find that little boyfriend of yours and bring him and his dear potter to me,” he give the ultimatum, worse than your own death, you’d be the facilitator of his. you open your eyes and wordlessly nod. “good.”

you would do anything to protect him, you love him more than you thought you could ever love a person. if you were to get the dark mark, become a death eater, you couldn’t be with him. you would become everything he was fighting against, you couldn’t ignore that anymore.

so standing next to draco in borgin and burkes, the dark mark finally plagued your forearm. you can’t help but let a single tear shed at the thought of ron ever seeing this mark on you, hating you for it. you love him so much, you went through this to protect him from the dark lord, so you have to let him go.

dear ron,

i know i haven’t written in a while, the world is upside down, and all i can ever think about is you and your safety, so i couldn’t write to you. remember all the things we wanted? that night you asked if we could ever truly be together? i wanted all of that with you, i wanted to grow old with you. meet your family, move in together, live outside of this secret. i wanted to have a normal love with you. i think i knew it the back of my mind that we wouldn’t get our happy ending. we were born into different sides of this bloody battle. we were always meant to say goodbye. star-crossed lovers, that’s what you always said right?

i’ve had to make some decisions, ron, ones i’m not proud of. i need you to know i did it all for you, i’ve wanted to protect you since i knew i loved you. you have been the most important person to me, i couldn’t live with myself if i put you in danger. i know what you’re thinking, that we could have done this together. we could have fought for us, for this, but we were never meant for do or die. i think you know that.

don’t let this change who you are, i love who you are, please stay that way. stay optimistic, believe in love and happiness. i know you won’t want to, you’re stubborn just like me, but I know that you’ll find another. another love that won’t hurt, another love that’s easy. don’t be afraid to love her with everything you have. that’s all i could ever want for you. i wish i could tell you this in person, hug you—kiss you—one last time, but looking at you makes it harder. i know i would chicken out. our time together, those moments we had alone, just the two of us without a thought of what was happening in this cruel world, they were perfect. know that i’ll never regret one second i spent with you. you made my heart feel like it was on fire, you let me know what true love is like and i am so grateful for that. but no matter how perfect we were, perfect couldn’t keep this love alive.

so i have to go away for a while. i don’t know if i’ll ever be back, i don’t know if i’ll survive this so i need you to know this isn’t me leaving without any sort of love for you. i have to leave because i love you. you know that i love you so, i love you enough to let you go. it may seem selfish but i can’t keep dragging you into harms way, i’m sorry. there was no road we couldn’t have taken where we both make it out of this, where our love conquers all. i wish that was the case but it isn’t. someone’s gotta go. i can’t hurt you anymore than i already have, so it has to be me. i have to go so you can live.

so i guess this is goodbye. trust me when i say my heart breaks a little more with every word i write on this page. i know it’s cliche to say, but this has nothing to do with you and everything to do with me and the choices i made. the choices that ultimately placed the last nail in the coffin of the hope that we could be together forever. i want you to know you couldn’t have loved me better. not a day will go by where i don’t think of your heart, your smile, the things that made me fall in love with you in the first place. you knew about my flaws, about my family and you still loved me. i cannot thank you enough for showing me what real love looks like.

i know you don’t agree, that i’m stupid for giving up my greatest love story, for letting you slip through my fingers but this is how it has to be. i want you to be happy, and that can only be if i’m gone. i could never ask you to choose between me and your best friends, your family, so i made the choice. you can be angry with me, hate me if it helps, whatever makes it easier to erase me from your mind, from your heart. a piece of me will always belong to you ronald weasley, but i want you to move on, so i’m already gone.

i love you, forever and always,

y/n

Drivers License Pt. 2 (Ron Weasley)

a/n: You guys absolutely went off for part 1, thank you so so much!! Someone requested that I make a part 2 where y/n finally gets a happy ending, but without ron so I decided to kind of run with the idea, this time sort of from ron’s point of view.

disclaimer: the timeline in the books/movie are gonna line up in this one. I know they didn’t have a seventh year and i know ron kissed lavender before winter but this is obv not cannon, go with it, also fred dying was a prank anyway so YOU THOUGHT it would be included. absolutely not.

After taking y/n’s affection for granted, Ron realizes he’s made a huge mistake when she’s moved on to be happy without him

warning(s): cussing, sadness, broke my own heart writing this

And all my friends are tired
Of hearing how much I miss you, but
I kinda feel sorry for them
‘Cause they’ll never know you the way that I do

It took a long time for you to move on from Ron, you didn’t have to look very far to do so. Ginny had told off Ron one night for hurting you without realizing the twins were awake and hearing all the nasty things Ron put you through. By that point he and Hermione were no longer together, she realized he was too good of a friend to lose to a ‘stupid school relationship.’ So now he was alone, completely clueless to the fact that someone else had begun pining over you.

“Merlin, not this again.” Harry groans into his textbook. The wizarding world was on the verge of destruction and all Ron could speak about was how much he missed you. “Ron, we get it you fucked up with her, get over it.”

The boys had heard the same speech everyday. He would first start off with ‘I know I say this a lot’ then go onto name the things he misses most about you. Your hair, your eyes, your laugh, how small your hands are compared to his. He then groans about how stupid he is for, well, everything.

“I never heard you talk about her before now,” Dean adds, actually semi-invested in the drama that surrounded Ron’s love life. “Whats so special about her anyway?”

How could he even begin to explain what was so special about you. As much as he wished he could say he lied to you about everything he said to you, how easy it would be if he never gave a shit about you, that just isn’t the case. You had this way of making him feel safe whenever he held you. He wasn’t lying when he told you that you felt like home, he just didn’t mean to say it to soon. Maybe that was the reason he decided to kiss Lavender Brown, knowing you were watching. He wanted to push you away in the most hurtful way possible that you never even thought about coming back to him, but immediately regretted that decision.

You also had this weird hold on him, even when he was with Hermione, he would catch a glimpse of your smile and his heart would drop into his stomach. He would see your eyes sparkle in the light of the living room fire place when you were visiting the Burrow and want to scream out that he never meant to hurt you. He notices things about you that you probably hadn’t even noticed about yourself. The way your nose will scrunch when you focus really hard when Ginny tries to teach you wizard chess, how he wishes you would let him close enough to teach you. His heart aches when he notices you shift away from him, even after he and Hermione broke up. When you and Gin walk into the Great Hall for dinner and you go out of your way to sit as far from his as you can.

“You don’t understand,” Ron huffs out, rolling onto his side, wishing you were laying close into his chest like you used to. “She’s something else.”

“Ron, I know you miss her and everything but I have to tell you that you missed your chance,” Harry tells him. “Ginny tells me more than she probably should about all of this, she’s finally moved on from you mate, let it go.”

But how could he? How could he move on when you’re constantly around? He can hear a laugh from all the way down the hall and immediately know its falling from your lips, he’ll hear the sound of an engine from his bedroom window and know you’ve arrived for one of your weekend stays. The way you get on so well with his family, you’re perfect for him, you always have been but he took you for granted and now all he can do is complain to his friends about how he let you go.

And I know we weren’t perfect
But I’ve never felt this way for no one, oh
And I just can’t imagine
How you could be so okay now that I’m gone?

He thought for a long time that you were a temporary fix for his feelings that ran deep within him for Hermione, but being with her only made him realize that it was you all along. How could he have been so stupid? He refused to let his friends know you were together, in fear that Hermione would lose the feelings he had prayed she felt toward him, but in doing so he only pushed you away.

“Ron, we can’t keep sneaking around like this.” You would tell him after he pulled you into a broom closet in the middle of the day. “They’ll find out eventually, it’s not like Ginny would be cross with either of us.”

Ron was never able to give you a clear answer when it came to why you had to hide from everyone, not wanting to admit to you that it was because he was hung up on his best friend. Looking back now, it was the stupidest decision he ever made. While your relationship was chaotic and spontaneous and secretive, it was still something he now yearned for everyday, he needed to feel what he felt for you then. More specifically, he needed you to feel what you felt for him back then too. Admittedly, he never loved Lavender Brown, she was only there to stroke his ego. He thought he loved Hermione, but how can you fully love someone if your heart is connected to someone else? Loving you felt different than with anyone else, his chest burned and his hands tingled whenever you were around him.

That’s why it hurt him so badly to see you move on, and not to just anyone. After Ginny’s outburst toward her brother over how he continued to treat her best friend, a certain Weasley grew closer to you. At first, George wanted to apologize to you for the way his brother treated you as well as help you navigate co-existing with the boy. However, the more time you spent with George, the closer you became. You found yourself laughing at his stupid pranks that wouldn’t have even warranted a grin years ago. You felt the need to be near him grow more everyday, Ron noticed your sudden draw toward his brother as well.

He couldn’t understand how after, according to Ginny, crying over him for days on end, barely being able to get into your car to drive to the Burrow in fear of seeing him you could all of a sudden move on to his brother. Now that he realized how bad he messed up, he’s miserable that you weren’t around him, that you didn’t love him like you used to. How could you not feel the same hollow feeling he did?

What Ron didn’t see was that you did feel that hollow feeling, for months actually. You watched him fall in love and out of it twice before he realized you were the one, but by that time you didn’t have anything left to give him. You were healing in a way that caused you to grow apart from him even further. You found happiness is sleepovers with Ginny, helping Molly in the kitchen, and now long drives with George. You no longer felt like you needed Ron to survive. You didn’t eat, sleep, and breathe him anymore and that killed him.

You were careful to never make Ron feel the same way you did when you saw him with Lavender and Hermione, you weren’t as cruel as he was back then, but it was no secret that you and the twin had sparked some sort of relationship. Ginny was over the moon, as she began to lose hope in having you as a real sister by being with Ron, George came in and saved the day. If you thought Ron was mature for his age, George was practically ten times more. The more responsible of the twins, he always seemed to know exactly what to do and say in every situation. He always gave the best advice. What to do when a professor wouldn’t let up, how to sneak around the halls of Hogwarts at night, and most commonly how to continue in your growth while the one person who seems to stunt it is living only a stones-throw away. While you were still in school and he was running the shop, he would send you letters updating you on his life and beg you to come work at the shop with him and Fred when you finish school, telling you that you would make an excellent addition to the team. His words never failed to make you blush.

He’s three years older than you, almost twenty by the time you had moved on completely from Ron, so nothing ever really happened with George then, but your growing companionship could only be expected to blossom from there. Ron couldn’t stand it. Of all people you could seek comfort in, it had to be his brother. He would hear you gushing to Ginny about the most recent letter you received in the Common Room or witness you and George chatting about something completely arbitrary over Christmas and seethe with anger. In his mind, if you had ever truly loved him like you say you did, you wouldn’t be so content knowing that you two would never be together.

Red lights, stop signs
I still see your face in the white cars, front yards
Can’t drive past the places we used to go to
'Cause I still fuckin’ love you, babe

It was no longer a secret to any of the Weasley clan that Ron was miserable. When he’s at school, he’s complaining to his friends about what he could have done differently so that he could have you. At home he begged his sister to stop bringing you around, as if he had any say in whether or not you visited the Burrow. Now being old enough to use magic outside of Hogwarts, he would apparate out any time he heard you pull up to his driveway. He would go to London mostly, distracting himself in the busy streets and crowds of people.

It never worked. Somehow everywhere he turned he thought he would catch a glimpse of your hair blowing in the wind. He would shake his head just to realize you were never there. Any white car that passed next to him would immediately strike fear in his heart, thinking you were behind the wheel, but you never were. He couldn’t decide if he was looking for you in everything or if he was so afraid to see you that he imagined you everywhere. Nevertheless, there was nothing Ron Weasley could do that would effectively distract himself from you, and he’s now starting to realize it’s all his fault.

If he hadn’t been so self centered to fall into Lavender Brown’s compliments and praises due to his egomania, he would have never kissed her in front of you. At the time he thought of it as kind of a test, how far could he push you before you were no longer kissing the ground he walked on. Seeing you still tremble at his touch or your cheeks heat up whenever he said your name made him feel good, like you would never leave him. Now that you’re gone, he’s kicking himself for pushing that limit. He didn’t know it would take him falling into Hermione’s arms in that hospital bed in front of you to ruin your good opinion of him forever, but if he did he swears he would have called out your name that day instead.

On top of the Dark Lord plotting to take over the wizarding world as he knew it, his last semester was filled with memories of you. Any time he would walk into the common room his heart would fill with sorrow, recalling how it felt to first kiss you there. He would also replay the moment he kissed Lavender Brown in that very spot, after pulling away catching a glimpse of you rushing through the crowd of Gryffindors to get away from him. In that moment he felt like the world’s biggest arse, yet it didn’t keep him from holding onto Lavender a bit longer. He avoided certain hallways that would force him to pass the broom closets and empty classrooms he pulled you into throughout the school day, hiding you from his friends. What a stupid thing to do. Part of him knew back then that he would never feel the way he felt about you for anyone else, but he was greedy.

Seeing you happy without him ripped his heart out of his chest and tore it to shreds. How you would smile down at a piece of parchment, assuming it was a letter from his brother. The sound of your voice carrying through the dorms as you and Ginny would stay up late in the common room talking about nothing and everything all at once. He couldn’t bear living right next to you, co-existing with you, while you just ignored him and grew apart from him.

“Y/n,” He calls your name. You’re alone in the common room, that is until he came in. You hadn’t heard him say your name in a while, you find it doesn’t have the same impact on you as it did a year ago and you’re grateful for that. “Y/n, can I talk to you?”

“What is it, Weasley?” You ask him, hoping the dismissal you intended in your tone translates. You had spent months avoiding him, avoiding the longing gazes, so that you could pick up the pieces of your heart that he shattered and put them back together. He doesn’t respond for a while, just admiring how you look in the glow of the fireplace. “I don’t have all night, get on with it.”

“Right,” He replies, shaking his head in an attempt to clear his thoughts. He takes a seat on the arm chair across from the couch that you’re sat on, careful not to get too close. Your face is cold, he almost doesn’t recognize you without your smile. “I messed up, Y/n. I know I did. I fucked it all just to have a quick fix because I’m arrogant and selfish. I was so lost back then, in my own pride, that I didn’t know what I wanted out of life. But I know now what I needed then, what I need now.”

You don’t reply. Your heart is sinking but you do a great job of hiding it. Your face doesn’t change even though your inside is screaming. After months of crying and misery, watching the first boy you had fallen in love with fawn over what felt like every girl in the school, you had finally stopped hurting. Your heart doesn’t ache when you see him anymore, you don’t blush when you hear his name and you stopped yearning for his touch. Yet now, he has the audacity to try and fix it. Months ago you would have welcomed this grand gesture of what you can only assume to be a confession of the love he never lost for you, but you’re not the person you were then, thanks to the boy sat in the armchair that forced you to grow up and move on from him so soon.

“Say something.”

“Say something?” You ask, gawking at his audacity and slamming your book next to you. “You dangle your little relationships in front of me for almost a fucking year, pretending like I never meant anything to you and you’d like me to say something? Do you understand what kind of pain you caused? I cried until I had nothing left because you told me all these nice things about me, you told me you loved me, then you kissed Lavender right in front of me. Not only that but I spent hours, Ron, hours sitting next to your bed in the hospital scared shitless that you were going to die in there. You know who came twenty minutes before you woke up, Granger. I was there for hours and who’s name you did you call out? Hers. Months ago I would have eaten this shit up, Weasley. You could have come in here and told me my hair looked different and I would have fallen in love with you all over again. Not anymore. I’m finally happy, you don’t get to ruin that because things didn’t turn out the way you wanted them to with Hermione.”

He sits in front of you, shocked. Part of him expected you to always want him, to come back to him even after all this time but he was wrong. He looked at you, hoping that maybe you were lying, that you were just scared to get hurt again so you put on a face for him but the look in your eyes told him more than what just fell from your lips. You hate him.

“Y/n, please.” He whimpers as you start to collect your things to leave this room immediately. There are only two of you but you feel suffocated. “I love you.”

“Shut up.” You tell him, not in jest, not to tease him but genuinely wanting him to stop speaking. “Don’t you dare say that to me ever again. You don’t deserve to know what it’s like for me to love you, you never did.”

You leave him sitting alone in the common room, heart shattered from your words that dug into him like a thousand knives. He replayed it over and over again, to feel something other than the numbness that was sure to come in time when you love someone you cannot have. He still had to be around you, watch you live your life without him. He had to see you laugh and know he could never put a smile like that on your face ever again. In order to fully heal from the heartache he was facing he knew he had to separate himself from you, to leave for a while so he didn’t have to see you fall in love with his brother, but he couldn’t. He decided he would rather have you in the smallest way possible, watching you from afar, seeing you smile like you once did at him, then never see you again.

Sidewalks we crossed
I still hear your voice in the traffic, we’re laughing
Over all the noise
God, I’m so blue, know we’re through
But I still fuckin’ love you, babe

Years Later

Following your last year at Hogwarts, you followed George’s orders and began working at Weasley’s Wizard Wheezes. The twins were overjoyed to have your help, George especially so to have you around so often. With you 18 and he 21, after all these year he made his move on you, your friendship blossoming into something more.

You finally knew what it felt like to love and be loved back. George never tried to keep you from his friends, he never snuck off with you to hide your relationship, rather he paraded you around, proud that ‘someone like him was able to swing someone like you.’ He made you blush every time he looked at you, his handsome smile always pulling at your heartstrings. You had become addicted to being loved in that way.

Ron didn’t love your new relationship with his brother as much as as you did. He knew you deserved someone good, someone who would treat you right, he just wished it didn’t have to be someone who placed you in his life indefinitely. His heart ached whenever he would see George’s hand reach for yours as you giggled through the backyard of the Burrow. The worst was when he caught the two of you kiss for the first time.

It was late in the Summer, just after you and Ginny finished your years at Hogwarts. You were visiting just like you always did that time of year and late one night Ron heard rustling down from the main floor. Fearing that an animal had gotten in the house, he immediately searched for the origin of the noise. What he was met with was worse than if an acromantula had found its way into his kitchen. There you were, your hands tangled in his brother’s fiery red hair and his resting on your waist, your body pressed up to the sink. As he watched your lips against his brother’s, he felt as if a fire had engulfed his heart, his chest beginning to sting as it became harder to breathe. He didn’t say a word, he didn’t stop you two, just turned on his heels and darted back to his bedroom. When he was finally safe in his solitude, he slid against his door and broke down. The memories of the two of you in that very kitchen years ago flooded his sense.

During winter break of his sixth year and your fifth, the two of you spent your time cooking and cleaning together in that kitchen, laughing over the littlest things. Even when you weren’t right next to each other, he could still hear your laugh over all the commotion in the house. It was and still is his favorite sound. He wishes that he could bring that sound from your lips again, hoping that maybe one day you’ll realize your love for his brother is really misdirected love toward him, but that all changed.

You’re now 22 and George is 25. You have officially been together for four year. The shop had expanded immensely, renovations to the first store and new shops opening up all over the country and the continent. You count yourself lucky to be a part of it, to be able to say your boyfriend was the co-owner of the most successful joke shop in Europe. Being able to see how his eyes glow like it’s his first day of work every single day still makes your heart smile.

Tonight is another unveiling event of a new shop, this one in Spain. However, this new location being the 10th shop to open up in the continent, the boys decided this launch party would be more formal than the last, a bigger celebration. You all are dressed up, George in a tuxedo and you in a floor length gown. You loved seeing George in his everyday clothes, thinking he would look handsome in a potato sack, but there is something about that boy in a suit. All your friends and family are there, investors too. It’s a night you’ll remember for the rest of your life.

Ginny is still your best friend, you can’t imagine a day when she isn’t. You still have sleepovers in the Burrow even though you had your own lives and own flats. She’s still with Harry, a ring now occupying her left finger. When he proposed you and Ginny immediately started planning the wedding, there was no question who the maid of honor would be. She practically begs her older brother to make an honest woman out of you every time she sees him because she wants to, like almost everything in your lives, go through this experience with you.

Ron is there, of course he is. One of the biggest milestones in his older brothers’ career paths so far, he wouldn’t miss it for the world. He works at the shop sometimes, never with you, Fred and George would never be so cruel to ask him to do such a thing. He watched you for most of this night, his brother’s hand resting on your lower back every time he looked. While he knew your smile that you were putting on for investors and old friends was partly exaggerated so you could better play your role of proud girlfriend to the co-owner, he still admired how it sparkled like no one else’s he had ever seen. You grew more beautiful with every year you aged, this of course hurt him to still see you so happy without him.

You catch Ron’s stares throughout the night, you ignore them for the most part. You have come a long way, you were sixteen with you had your heart absolutely shattered by the boy and now you’re an adult. You have a job, a home, a life that at one point you could have never imagined living without him. The boy you were once completely and utterly bewitched by is now just a faint memory, a small ping in your chest when you think of how someone could hurt you so badly at such a young age. You catch his eye and smile at him, no longer angry with him. Like most things, George helped you process your anger. He couldn’t stand to see you so furious anytime you saw someone who mattered quite a bit to him. George has his moments when he hears something Ron did to you for the first time and becomes outraged, now that he loves you and everything, but he always reminds himself that its in the past.

Ron smiles back, you can tell he’s forcing it, but it’s a step in the right direction. Something tells him that he’ll never fully get over you, that part of his heart will always be in your possession. The only way he can describe his feelings whenever he’s around you anymore is blue, every shade of blue. Sometimes are better than other, a sky blue, a bit brighter but still a hint of sadness. Other times are a navy blue, complete and utter darkness. He hasn’t decided what tonight is blue-wise.

“Fred and I would like to thank you all for coming tonight.” George speaks into a microphone placed on an elevated surface in the new shop. You can’t help but admire his features, he looks so mature. “As you all know, courtesy of this bloody massive sign above our heads, this is our tenth shop to open across the continent. It feels surreal to say, eh Freddie?”

“You said it, George.” Fred replies. “Everyone in this room holds a special place in our heart, you’ve all, in your own ways, made this shop what it is today. We are so grateful to have such loyal and fantastic business partners, friends, and family.”

You want to cry, not a sad cry, but burst into tears over how far the two of them have come. When you first joined them in working at the shop, it was just a corner store on Diagon Alley, now it’s a world wide chain. You see the ins and outs of the business, knowing just how much work the two of them put into this dream. You’re able to catch George’s gaze, mouthing an I love you which he returns with a wink.

“Before we let you all get back to the party, theres one person we would like to specifically thank,” George speaks again before pointing down to you and motioning you to come up with them. You shake your head at him, not wanting to impede on the well deserved attention and praise the boys are getting. “Y/n, this isn’t an option come on up here. Alright, for those of you who don’t know this is my lovely, gorgeous, smart, talented-”

“Alright, get on with it Georgie!” Fred interrupts, making the crowd of people laugh. “I think they get the point.”

“Okay, okay.” George puts his hands up in defense. “Like I was saying, or those of you who don’t know this is Y/n. She’s better known to most of you as the lady who was stupid enough to say yes when I asked her to be my girlfriend, but she was the stores first hired employee. She has been with us for all the renovations, all the expansions and has always supported us in every hair-brained idea Freddie and I have come up with. She has since become our creative director for the company as well as held a seat on our board for, well as long as we’ve had a board. Without her, I think we might just crumble to the ground.”

“Oh stop that!” You don’t mean for it to come out so loud, but you make the crowd laugh again and your cheeks heat up. You slide in front of George to bring your mouth up to the microphone. “They’re making my role seem much larger than it is, all of this that you’ve seen over the years has very little to do with me.”

“Pay no mind to her, she’s being humble.” George retorts, and you decide to stop fighting it. “I guess what I’m trying to say is our lives, especially mine, would be a lot harder if Y/n wasn’t in it. I couldn’t think of a better place, in front of a better group of people, to ask this question.”

Before you can process his words, your boyfriend is lowering down on one knee and pulling a small box out of his pocket. You hear gasps and whistles coming from the crowd, making you turn to see Ginny with the biggest smile on her face. You look back down to George, your hands going to cover your gaping mouth. This is not real. The red haired boy opens the box to reveal a ring, a massive diamond in the center with what seemed like a dozen smaller diamonds surrounding it. So this is where all the money the shops have been making was going.

“Y/n, my dearest love,” He doesn’t even get a full sentence out and you’re already shaking. “It will never make sense to me why you said yes to being my girlfriend, but I’m hoping whatever came over you that day is over you now so you’ll say yes to this one too. Y/n, will you make the happiest bloke to every walk this earth and marry me?”

You can’t even form words, your heart feeling like it’s migrated to your throat. You can only nod and pull him up from his kneeling position to pull him into the tightest hug you’ve ever given. “Yes, yes. One thousand times yes. Georgie, I love you!”

George gives you that smile that melts you in every way and places the ring on your left finger. Ginny finally got her way. He pulls you in for a small kiss and your friends and family clap and shout with joy. You can hear Molly shouting over everyone else. Everyone in the room is clapping and celebrating but one person.

Ron’s mouth is agape, watching as you say yes to spending the rest of your life with his brother. He wants to be happy for the two of you, he wants to be able to celebrate with his family but the dull ache in his heart that has been present since the night in the common room that you told him to never say the words you just shouted to his brother turns into a sharp pain. This is the final nail on the coffin that is the hope Ron held that you would one day be together. That small glimmer dying as the ring is placed on your dainty hand. It doesn’t take long for Harry to notice the look on his best friends face, excusing himself from Ginny for a moment.

“You alright?” Harry asks quietly, careful not to draw attention to the one person in the room that isn’t happen for the newly engaged couple at the front. “Ron you have to at least pretend to be happy for them.”

Ron looks over to Harry and shakes his head. “I wish I could be happy for them mate. Everything in me wishes I had done something differently so it was me asking her that question.”

Harry is quiet for a while, watching as Ron’s face keeps the shocked and defeated look that its held since he saw his brother get on one knee. He balls his hands into fists every few minutes to keep himself from going completely numb. “You really still love her, don’t you? After all this time.”

“‘Course I fucking do.” Ron whispers, not meaning for it to come out as harsh as it did. He and Harry talk for a little while, just to keep his mind off the obvious stressor in the room, until Ginny is pulling Harry away to come and congratulate her best friend. Ron is left alone as we watches your smile, a genuine one this time, is glued to your face as you show anyone and everyone the ring. George is standing proudly beside you, holding your waist. You never look his way, too involved in sharing the most exciting moment of your life, though Ron wishes you would look over to him. He wishes he could catch your eye and sense some form of regret, then come save the day, but that never happens. Today is the darkest shade of blue imaginably, knowing for certain that your whole heart belongs to someone else. Quietly, for no one else to hear but him, he utters:

“I love you, I always will.”

a/n:hi! :)

“Excuse me?” You mutter nervously. “C- can I join you? Everywhere else is full up.”

The ginger boy stuffs a handful of Bertie Botts’ every flavour beans into his mouth, nodding. The other boy, who is wearing circular glasses, gestures to the empty seat opposite them.

“Of course.” He introduces himself. “I’m Harry.” He then points to his friend. “And this is Ron.”

Ron smiles at you. “Alright, there.”

“Y/N.” You answer through a whisper.

“What was that?”

“Oh, umm…” You clear your throat. “Y/N. Sorry. I guess I’m q- quite nervous.”

“That’s alright, Y/N.” Harry picks up a chocolate frog from the pile of sweet treats lying beside the two boys. “Here. Would you like one?”

“Sure.” Harry throws it over, and you catch it with perfect ease. “Thank you.”

You barely catch what Ron says next, through a mouthful of more beans. “Jus.. stick w.. us, you’ll be.. -good.”

You sit down opposite them, placing your *pet choice* next to you in their cage.

Harry leans forward, looking inside and smiling. “Who’s this?”

“This is *pet’s name*. S/he’s quite shy. Like me, I suppose.”

“I’m a little nervous as well. I don’t know anything about being a wizard.”

Ron wipes some stray chocolate from his face and speaks up. “Lucky for me, I have brothers who have told me all about Hogwarts.”

You smile back at Ron and then look back to Harry. “That is lucky. I’m in the same boat as Harry. I only found out I was a witch a few weeks ago.”

Harry offers you another frog, seeing that you’ve finished the last. You take it with a grin. He looks between you and Ron. “Well, we can stick with each other and be clueless together.”

You giggle, thinking about how glad you are now that the rest of the seats on the train were full. “Sounds good to me.”

At the Yule Ball, they dance to ‘All I Need’ by Within Temptation (the dance Damon and Elena do) and everyone can see the love between the two as they dance and figure out the two are dating. Harry doesn’t react well. Thank you!!! ❤️‍❤️‍❤️‍ ‘

“(Y/n), you’re a -”

“No.” They immediately cut Ron off, not glancing up from their essay. The Yule Ball is barely a few days away, and unsurprisingly, Ron has left it to the last minute, as well as their brother. (Y/n) can’t help but laugh internally at their embarrassment.

“You don’t even know what I was going to ask.” Ron sighs, leaning on his elbow as he takes the seat beside them, leaning his weight on his arm and huffing beneath his breath. The two are currently in the Great Hall, meant to be studying, but no longer.

The edges of their lips curl up slightly, but they still do not look up, “I assume that Hermione said no.”

He chokes out a few breaths, making their smile widen ever so slightly, “I- I have no idea what you mean.”

(Y/n) sighs and places their quill down, clasping their hands together on the part of the parchment that is yet to be written on. “Your loss, Ronald.”

There’s a quick pause before Ron scoffs, shaking his head slightly, “it’s not my fault if Hermione wants to go to the Yule Ball alone.” He runs his hand through his hair, biting his lip as he pauses for a second to think everything over - what if she does have a date? He shakes his head again, deciding that the idea is completely wild. “And apparently so do you.”

“How do you know I do not have a date, Ronald?” They raise a brow at him, the ends of their lips curling up slightly. “Is the idea of someone fancying me so shocking?”

There’s a pause before Ron tilts his head side to side, considering the idea, “Yes.”

“Fuck off.”

They take a deep breath and release their ringed hands. They look gorgeous, the dark tones of their attire matching the scenery around them whilst also highlighting their face and hair. They are stunning.

The gazes they were receiving made (Y/n) think otherwise, their shoulders beginning to tense once again as their hands fumbled for each other.

A sigh escapes them once they finally reach Blaise and Pansy by the entrance, both still waiting for their dates.

“You can unclench your teeth, you know,” Pansy states, trying not to laugh as she takes in her friend’s incredibly tense stature. Although there are many frills, Pansy still looks beautiful in her pale pink dress robes. Blaise looks quite handsome in his own dark dress robes, his face content but his knees shaking slightly.

“Sorry,” they let out a nervous laugh, their shoulders still stiff and their hands still curled. Pansy gives (Y/n) a look, which is returned with a weary smile. “Where is -”

“He’s on his way,” Blaise smiles reassuringly, his eyes lighting up slightly as his gaze suddenly shifts to someone behind them. “That’s my date, I-I will see you two later. Have fun.” He mumbles a goodbye before strolling over to the girl, a charismatic smile on his face.

“I swear, if our dates don’t look at us like that, I am done.” Pansy jokes, but (Y/n) can hear an underlying tone of honesty.

“Don’t be daft, Pansy, they will. You look a solid eleven out of -”

“Oi! (Y/n), what are you doing over there?” The familiar voice of Ronald makes them jump, turning swiftly on their heels to face him and their brother on the stairs - both wear looks of disapproval. Whilst Harry wears more modern clothing, Ron does not. The amount of frills and lace is shocking.

“Chatting to some friends.” They look him up and down, biting their lip as their shoulders begin to shake ever so slightly, the shaking worsening as they make a joke in their head, “when did you go grave robbing?”

(I take credit for that joke, 2 am and I am on fire!)

Ron’s frown falls further, whilst their brother has no shame in hiding his laughter.

Pansy scoffs behind them, and (Y/n) turns around to look at her, and this time she has her nose upturned and her mouth pressed in a thin line. However, a smile soon graces her face once they make eye contact, "have fun with Weaslebee and scar-head.”

“Are you sure?”

Pansy nods, taking another look at their brother and his friend, not suppressing her giggles, “I will see you later, have fun.”

“She’s just my friend.” (Y/n) reminds them, reaching the two at the bottom of the stairs. Like the entrance, which they only had a glance, the entryway and stairs are decorated wonderfully; there is mistletoe hanging from the arches, tinsel wrapped around the staircase, and there are trees that litter the corners of this entryway.

“Can the inbred form complex relationships?” Harry jokes, glancing up to the ceiling in thought.

“I don’t know,” (Y/n) grins, “but Ron did.” Their hands are clasped behind their back as they lean back and forth on the balls of their feet.

“Yes, I did,” Ron continues, grinning at the two. “And I must say, you two look amazing… and I look like my great aunt Tessie.” Harry and (Y/n’s) dress robes are far more appropriate and pleasing to the eye’s than Ron’s, by at least a marathon. Ron’s is quite ghastly. Bless him, you can see where he tried to cut the lace.

“Can’t be helped, mate.”

“Shut up, Harry.”

(This would be a good point to start the song if you want to.)

(Y/n) and their date agreed to meet inside the Great Hall, although they had hoped to catch him before, they must have just missed each other. They strain their neck as they weave around the students, trying to look around them. Biting their lip, their cheeks flush as they begin to wonder if everyone can see them looking about, dateless. (Y/n) has a date, he just can’t seem to be found.

They had already witnessed the champion’s dance, without him, and they would much prefer to spend the rest of the evening with him.

Stopping, they decide it would be best to go back to the entry and wait for him to come in, that does make far more sense than simply walking about and hoping to come across him. If only their brother was not so annoying, they could have met outside.

“(Y/n).” He quietly gasps behind them, taking their hand in his, gently spinning them around. Bowing, he presses a gentle kiss to the back of their hand, his eyes not breaking contact with their’s as their stomach begins to flutter.

Standing straight, he looks down to them, not dropping their hand as he smiles, his heart thumping. “You never fail to amaze me.”

“You look quite dashing yourself,” they turn their nose up, making him laugh.

“Can you hear that?” The melody of ‘All I need’ by temptation, a song (Y/n) has always wanted to dance to, begins to play.

“Of course, I can hear it, Draco. The music is quite loud.”

“I mean, do you want to dance, you nutter?” He shakes his head, his smile never dropping.

(Y/n) nods, their cheeks slightly flush. Grinning, he thanks them and begins to lead them to the centre of the dance floor.

“ 'Arry, is that (Y/n)?” Ron sits up in his seat, nudging his friend in the side, making him hiss; the even Padma and her sister follow his gaze.

“No, that’s Malfoy.” Harry, of course, fails to realise that there is someone else in front of the bowing Draco.

“No, you imbecile, dancing with him.”

This time Harry catches the glimpse of the familiar (h/c) locks as the two take a step back from each other. “That’s not them.”

Ron shakes his head, and like Parvati and her sister, attempts to get a glance behind him. Unfortunately, despite being incredibly skinny, Malfoy remains to have broad shoulders.

The dancing pairs place the palm of their hands a few inches apart as they all begin to turn clockwise, revealing the familiar face of (Y/n).

Harry sits up in his seat, ignoring the audible sigh of awe from the two girls at their appearance, as he watches Malfoy and (Y/n’s) gaze never wavering. Ron’s jaw drops as he watches the two come to a stop before repeating the same actions but anti-clockwise.

Harry’s gaze hardens into a glare as he looks piercingly at the back of Draco, watching the two stop before placing both palms’ inches from their partner’s and turning the other way, again. He was going to kill Draco.

“There, they’ve stopped now,” Ron places his hand on his friend’s shoulder, gripping it for a second before letting it fall.

(Y/n) cannot take their eyes off him, the few seconds they are apart, feel longer as the two gazes in anticipation. Taking a step forward, (Y/n) places their left hand behind his shoulder, the other clasping his own, whilst Draco’s right-hand goes to their waist, making their stomach flutter again.

The two begin to dance, their eyes vulnerable as they try not to smile. Stepping in the traditional box motion, Draco leads them, his breath caught in his throat.

Despite trying not to, the ends of (Y/n’s) lips begin to curl as the couple move together.

Their hands fit together perfectly, and the hand on their back is making (Y/n’s) skin burn.

Nothing could ruin this moment for them.

Harry Potter continues to glare, but this time at his sibling, whose smile instantly falls.

He watches as their steps begin to hurry, replacing Malfoy as the lead as it is now Harry and (Y/n’s) gaze that does not break. The music slows down, and the pairs form a line again, taking a step away from each other. Harry watches them give Malfoy a bashful smile, the boy’s own lips curled but brows furrowed.

A couple, steps in front of (Y/n), Krum and Hermione as they break from the line, but he does not care - although Ron does. When they finally pass, his sibling and Malfoy are long gone.

For the rest of the evening, Harry allows them to have their fun, which (Y/n) is relieved of. They dance with Draco formally, and wildly, the two clearly madly in love as it was not just Harry watching the pair all evening. Fred Weasley had a few things to say about them dancing with Potter, whereas George would have preferred not to confront them, but to inform Harry instead. It is clear Harry is aware as whenever he has a free moment, he is glaring at the spot the pair began dancing.

(Y/n) does not tell Draco why they began to lead, but it is clear it is still on their mind.

(Y/n) wishes he didn’t have to leave, but they both do.

At the end of the evening, Draco leads them outside the hall, and they decline his offer of walking back to the common room. They may be dating but they are not going to give away the location of their common room to someone, not in their house.

Bidding them farewell, with a bow and a kiss on the back of their hand. In his eyes, the night had been perfect.

Although the two have been dating since First year, it has been private since, and quite downlow, with no public affection and only informing their closest friends.

“You cannot date him,” Harry states, coming behind them. “He is bad news, if he could, he’d be a Deatheater.”

Requests are now open! I previously wrote on Wattpad where I got over 200K views but I have since deleted my work due to the data breach and the fact I wrote it years ago and I believe my writing has improved vastly. (Well I hope so, lol).
Unfortunately, I am a bit rusty, which means I will only write the minimum of one thousand words per request. I also enjoy writing in detail, sorry if you do not like that.
I decided to keep my Secondary Blog as a Middle-Earth/Tolkien one!
I previously took a break, for personal reasons, but I have mustered the confidence to return. I apologise if I did not write your requests before, I feel awful, and please FEEL FREE to send them in again - there appears to be an error with my ask box and most of my requests have disappeared.

What do I write?

I write ‘x readers’.

I will also write for ships - for example, Harry Potter (as I know the most about the couples in it).  I will also write ‘Jily’, (for Harry Potter) because that is superior.

What fandoms do I write for on my main blog?

  • Harry Potter (all Eras)
  • Narnia
  • Netflix Bridgerton

What fandoms to I write for on this blog?

  • The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings

Pleaserequest here if you have any requests for these fandoms, same rules apply, or simply click on my blog on the ask button @daydreams-magic01-mrsdurin.

(You can ask me if there are any other fandoms I write for, but these are my main ones)

Rules:

I do have rules and limits, as there are things that make my uncomfortable.

:)

  1. I write for all genders and sexualities, as well as body types, etc. Discrimination is not welcomed here.
  2. No hate! If you don’t like my work, please don’t be rude about it. I have tried my hardest and whilst I appreciate constructive feedback, bullying and hate is just rude. I have never and will never attend to offend anyone or make them uncomfortable, I always try to put in the right tags also. If there are any issues, please put them in my ask box (however, it may be a few days until I reply as I don’t look in there until I have completed my current request) I apologise in advance and it is most likely due to an error or accident. Thank you :)

If I make an error, please message me privately - I once had an autocorrect issue where a tag went to ‘teddy lupin x male reader’ on my blog when it was for  a female reader as I was in a rush and did not realise I had already done the female tag. I am sorry again and an issue like this will never happen again, and I shall always double check from now on.

  1. I will never write anything underage so please request someone who is of age. I won’t mention anything triggering in too much detail as I don’t want to upset anyone. I will not write (describe) rape, it will always be consensual.
  2. If there is anything triggering, I will mention at the top. Remember, I love you guys.
  3. I am trying to improve my smut skills, but writing it does make me uncomfortable. I won’t write anything messed up, too graphic, dark, or kinky or to do with rape.
  4. Please do not copy or share my work in your own books or on another website! This is my hard work, and my writing. It should only be found on this blog. So please don’t. I find it very annoying and rude. (This includes futures and previous works)
  5. You will only find my work here. (I realise I emphasise this and I’m sorry)
  6. Please include the gender, and which person you would prefer it in as I don’t want to annoy you if I make an error (I usually write in third person but if you do not prefer this, please say so). It can also be very difficult to write without this.  Please include anything else which you find necessary to apply.
  7. When you request I will make it time appropriate to the movie or show unless stated otherwise. However, can you please clarify when you want it, for example, if the show spans over a number of years. If it isn’t necessary then I will just set it after. :)
  8. I will always try to use the spelling and slang from where it is set.
  9. Unless if I say other wise, your request should be posted within the week.
  10. Have a wonderful day. I can’t remember any other rules right now but it’s like 3am.

Thank you!

Author is always me on this blog: @daydreams-magic01and@daydreams-magic01-mrsdurin as I have decided to keep as a Tolkien blog for requests, and in that case only future Tolkien work should only be found on there, and all previous Tolkien work as well as all my other requests should only be found on my main blog. No where else.

Please say if you wanted to be added to a tag list.

Please feel free to request on my main blog unless you have any Hobbit and Lord of the Rings requests and wish to see me having a Tolkien blog, then do it on this one, haha. (That link is to my previous Lotr and Hobbit Masterlist).

Please say if you wanted to be added to a tag list.
