We all have a few DVDs we no longer use - why not recycle a case into a handy and portable drawing kit for those long journeys or waits at the airport.
You can easily turn any old, unwanted vinyl records into unique bowls! These crafty creations can be used for any storage purpose and make great gifts. All you need is an old, vinyl record, a heat-safe bowl, an oven, and a few minutes of free time. Make sure you have adequate ventilation for this project – melting vinyl can produce harmful fumes.

I’ve had this old beat up print setters tray for a long time out in the junk pile. Couldn’t figure out what I wanted to do with it so it just collected dust and spiderweb.
A lot of the dividers had broken out over time. I scavenged the cast iron drawer pull for another project. When I picked up this old clip board hardware piece I finally decided what I wanted to make with it.
I knocked out the rest of the dividers and cleaned up the tray. Also went over the clipboard sheet holder with brass brushes and steel wool to get the dirt and rust off.
I cut down a piece of corkboard to fit in the tray. The only thing left to do is snag some strong magnets from Amazon to afix to the back so this can hang on the side of our refrigerator in the kitchen.
Corkboard purpose is: #1 to cover the unattractive backboard w/o me having to paint it, and #2 if we go with a smaller calendar it will give space to pin notes.

This contemporary restaurant in Amsterdam features many stripped-back features; including brushed concrete, exposed ducts and piping, recycled wood storage and reclaimed chairs. Most striking without a doubt are the fantastic, almost-arachnid ceiling lights that loom over the space. Made from repurposed desk lamps, they immediately draw the attention and provide multidirectional lighting that is at once cheap to achieve and wonderfully simple to adjust.
Industrial-chic is all about reusing these kind of objects to achieve the early 1900s factory feel. It’s rapidly becoming one of my favourite interior styles.

The first photo is the recreational area I put in the garden, behind the cedar with a sandbox in a tractor tire. It’s the burned sod I got for free and nursed back to health, contrast that with the next picture and you can see how sad our pasture is. It’s been over-grazed so the herd spends much of their time in the pen but we bring them out to play, walk in the woods and eat brush, etc. They are eating mostly hay this year, but I toss them garden weeds and leafy/piney branches when we cut wood.
In the garden shots are herbs in raised beds (tires) and I’m using baling twine from our big hay bales to train my climbing rose (‘Wiliam Baffin’, the hardiest climber I could find) to wrap around the cedar. The new pup is getting big and her and the older livestock dog spend all day together, playing and patroling.
I had a lot of fun with this one! I bought this hutch to use as storage in our bathroom. I ended up buying a fabulous French provincial dresser to use instead. So I was able to recreate this in any style I wanted. I love the leaded glass doors! But didn’t love the top-plus it was too big for my bathroom where it was originally slated to live. Handy hubby cut the top off for me. I then painted parts black and sanded down edges and other areas. I am going to use the top board from the top piece we cut off to make a shelf. It had a glass shelf originally.
