LIVE

mesopaganism:

Hi guys! I’ve never actually posted any of my personal spells before because I consider them, y'know, personal. But recently I’ve felt drawn to begin posting them. I want to help people out. This spell is a “poison apple” curse that is meant to cause the truth to come to light.

In other words, say there is a person who look very nice and could be super popular and well liked. But they are not nice and you know this. Maybe they hurt you or someone you care about. Maybe they are racist or transphobic. Any of these things. This curse will not only bring these things to light, but force them to feel the pain and consequences of those actions. I have used this spell and it did work VERY well.

Things you will need:

  • 1 apple
  • Salt
  • Knife, rusty nail, anything sharp really.
  • A nasty mixture (anything gross. Examples: vinegar, chilli powder, black pepper, bleach, lemon juice, rust, tobacco, graveyard dirt, angry spit, etc)
  • Pen/Marker
  • Small slip of paper
  • Container the apple can fit into (bag, jar, etc)
  • Optional: a ritual stimulant like coffee grounds for it to happen faster.

1) Get your ingredients ready! Create your “nasty mixture” and if your practice includes setting up an alter, invoking deities, or circle casting do that now.
2) Take the apple. This represents the person that you are cursing. Write their first and last name on the apple while visualizing their face. Say “On the outside you look normal and nice…”
3) With the knife, cut out the core/center of the apple. Pull it out. Remove the top of the core from the rest of it, as the “lid” of the apple will be replaced later.
4) Take the mixture and pour it into the apple. Say “…But you are filled with poison…” as you pour. Do not fill all the way.
5) On a small slip of paper, write the bad properties of the person that need to come to the surface. Say “…filled with vice…” as you place the slip of paper inside of the apple.
6) Get the top of the apple and place it back on. Say “in order to bring these things to light…”
7) Get your knife! You are going to (carefully, unless you are okay with making a mess) stab the apple once for every thing that you wrote down. Really put your energy into this. Make it hurt. Say “…I will stab and I will slice.” Try to make the knife go all the way through the apple.
8) Once the apple is oozing (or dripping?) put it in a container (I’m using a bag because I don’t have any jars big enough to hold my apple)
9) If you are using any stimulant in your curse, add a tiny pinch to a bowl of salt and mix. Add this mixture to the container that the apple is in. Close/seal it.
10) Now SHAKE! As you do this, imagine the person facing the consequences of everything you wrote down. Put your intent and anger into it and really focus on their stupid face. You want them to be seen as who they are. This salt is the consequences, the salt to the wounds after they are seen. Say “You will pay.” for every time you stabbed them.
11) Now get rid of your bag of suffering. Don’t keep it in your house unless it is in the trash can. You can get rid of it how you want but do not bury it, as it will hurt the earth.
12) Get rid of any negative energy that may come back on you (if you believe in that.) Cleanse yourself with a nice cup of tea (lavender, chamomile, and rosemary might be nice!) or a bath/shower. Cleanse the area with salt, salt water, incense (dragonsblood, sandalwood, lavender, anything you’d like to use.) or any way of cleansing you choose. Ground yourself and get rid of any extra energy. Get some nice PJs on and curl into bed with snacks and netflix or something. Curses like this that require so much energy can leave you feeling super drained so be sure to take care of yourself.

How to Create Spells

☆~Spellcraft for Beginners~☆

Since magic is such a personal and individualized practice, you may find that your best spells will be ones you’ve written and performed yourself. This may sound complicated, but it’s only as simple (or ornate) as you’d like to make it.

Step 1.

Start by getting a clear idea of your goal and get a mental image of what that will look like (ex, for a happiness, you would want a clear vision of yourself being happy going about your daily activities). This is arguably the most important part; you can’t have a successful spell if you don’t know what it means for it to be a success. Meditate on it, describe it in detail, but don’t begin anything until you have a firm idea in your head.

Step 2.

After this, decide what type of spell you want to create. A candle spell for a quick result, or something to carry for long-term use? Do you want it to be simple, like more general happiness in your life, or more in depth, like to earn a specific job position by the end of the month? Try to oriente your spell to be themed to your goal.

Here are a couple popular methods to get you started:

Candle Spells

- Small candle = quick results, short term, but only a small burst of power

- Medium candles = burned over a few sessions, gives the spell length, effects last longer, but typically slows down the appearance of immediate results

- Large candles = burned in sessions over weeks or months, contains much more power, lasts much longer, but can take the most time before results are seen

Sachets, Charms, Enchanted Jewelry

- Sachets, herb pillows, etc. are quick to make and are designed for a slow release of magic over time

- Charms usually have an inherently magical function making it unnecessary to charge them, but while they last the longest, they are usually not as powerful as other spells

- Enchanting jewelry or tokens mimics a charm, which makes them easy to disguise and mundane objects with secret magical functions, but they must be periodically recharged to retain their magic

Cord/Knot Magic

- String/cord is an excellent symbol for many things, making it an ideal representation. For example, in a binding, you could tie a black string around a doll or poppet to symbolize the magic “tying them up”. You can also tie it to yourself and a symbol of someone else to link you two, or tie it and cut it to break a bond with someone.

- Knots are excellent tools for storing magic and energy until it is time to be released. This way, you could put a spell (like a spell for money) into the cord and tie a knot, and then later, when you need that money, you can untie the knot to release the magic of the spell.

Verbal/Written Spells

- Verbal power can be the strongest method of channeling, your voice and your words are sacred and can be used to summon a lot of your power. Chanting, singing, performing poetry, reading spells aloud, or simply speaking your intent in a commanding way can be a spell all it’s own. You may feel shy at first, but many witches over time develop what can be called their “Summoner’s Voice” which is a very serious, powerful manner of speaking that you only use to cast magic, which makes it uniquely powerful.

- Written spells are just as powerful, because it is still using words and language, which contain the natural power of change. Writing out a spell, poem, song, affirmation (ex, “I am healthy”), prayer, etc. can be a stand-alone spell as well. You can also sleep on your writing, place magical items on the page, or especially burn it to release its magic.

Step 3.

Decide if you want to add anything to your spell to add energy to it. Performing only verbal spells can be very efficient, but it is also terribly exhausting as it draws entirely on your energy.

Spell ingredients are added so that some of the energy added comes from something other than you. Herbs, crystals, metals, etc. all vibrate with their own energy which, if added properly, can contribute to your spell and make it stronger/last longer/go into effect faster/etc.

To figure out if something will be beneficial to your spell, you can try to sense it’s vibrations or look up common associations. For example, if you are doing a love spell, you could look up and find that yarrow and rose quartz both commonly resonate with love, which would make both of them suitable for your spell.

Ideas for what to add to your spell to make it stronger:

Crystals are so popular in witchcraft because there are a lot of them vibrating with lots of different frequencies, giving you lots of options for what to use for your spell. Set them in designs, put them on top of your written spells or sigils, add them to spell bags, or even just hold them during your spell and carry them afterwards to help give your spell focus.

Herbs function like crystals, but unfortunately can’t be recharged as well. However, they pack more initial energy and typically have more specific associations (ex, whereas rose quartz may just resonate with love in general, an herb like black medic might be as specific as “love, but only between young adults which ends up leading more to separate self-discovery and individual growth than to holy matrimony”). The downside to herbs, as amazing as they are, is that they demand A LOT of studying to be used properly. Herbs can be very dangerous, especially when taken internally, and require as much attention, education, and caution as chemicals and medication. (For example, if someone you know has Crohn’s Disease, and you as the witch look up associations for stomach pain, arriving at chamomile to help soothe their stomach, they could end up in the ER with severe stomach cramps. Many herbs conflict with medications, especially antidepressants, sleep medication, and birth control, so read and study and above all TALK TO YOUR GODDAMNED DOCTOR IF YOU WANT TO GET ON HERBAL SUPPLEMENTS OR WANT TO INGEST HERBS AS PART OF YOUR PRACTICE.)

Insence that you associate with your goal, or if you don’t/can’t use fire, use scented water or oil warmers can add a great boost to the spell, and can be designated and lit continuously afterwards to keep energy going into the spell if it is long-term.

Oils (acting like concentrated versions of the herb) can be more potent than the dried plant. Use it as incense, to anoint yourself or your tools to give them a boost. (Use extreme caution, oil extracts can cause serious harm if you don’t research them first!)

Colors can be used to your advantage as well! Color assocations are very personal, however, so be sure to only use a color if it actually evokes the desired feelings out of you. For example, if you’re doing a spell for stress relief, and green relaxes you, use green candles, cloths, or crystals even if most spells would call for blue.

Step 4.

Choosing where and when to perform your spell can give more power to your spell. A spell for releasing emotional baggage would do well performed on the full moon, and a spell to become more beautiful would have the most help in spring. Some spells happen spontaneously, when you couldn’t care less what planet is in which house or what day of the week it is, and this is perfectly fine as well. Sometimes waiting too long to perform a spell can kill the momentum you had when writing it, but some spells need a lot of planning.

Some things you can consider:

- Moon phase

- Astrological calendar

- Days of the week

- Days of the month/year

- Time of year

- Holidays

- Time of day/night

- Personal anniversaries

- Weather

Time and date can have personal associations as well, so while some people associate fall with the end of a cycle, you may see it as the original beginning.

Again, your spells can be as simple or as complicated as you want. They don’t have to fit any template or style. This is just to get you started and to help you along when you’re first starting, but you’ll realise the more you practice that you do have your own style and method and associations, and that will lend your spells the basic power they would be nothing without~☆

Spell Jar Alternatives

I’m not one to bury jars with spells, I prefer a more eco friendly option and like to use items that are natural or will break down.

I thought I’d share some of the items I use…

  • Conker Shells
  • Hollow or hollowed veg
  • Fruit skins eg citrus fruit
  • Toilet Roll Tubes
  • Sea Shells
  • Snail Shells
  • Nut shells (walnuts are great!)
  • Seed Heads/Pods
  • Large leaves (I use fig)
  • Natural fabric scraps (silk rots quickly)

All of these are safer in my mind as glass carries a risk factor especially for my hole digging son.

Items can be sealed with soy wax or twine/ribbon such as hessian, cotton or silk which will break down far easier than synthetics.

Sigils still can be painted or drawn on many of the cases.

If I know I’m going to bury a spell I like to try and incorporate flower or herb seeds (Nigella/Blessing seeds are a favourite) as when the casing breaks down the seeds will often germinate.

Common Objects & Uses - Buttons

We’ve almost all experienced the loss of a button and it’s strange to think that someone may discover it hundreds of years from now and wonder who it once belonged to.

These little objects are often overlooked and I wanted to bring to light a common object that we almost all possess but don’t consider as a useful tool.

Buttons in the present day are predominantly made of plastic but can also be made from shell, horn, bone, fabric, metal, wood, glass and more.

More often than not they are found on clothing and have played a significant role in fashion through history and have been found dating as far back as 2000BC.

I’ve personally been fascinated by these little items since I was a child and took great pleasure tipping my Nans button collection out on a tray and looking at them all one by one.

This collection now lives with me and I still enjoy looking at them and in some cases remembering the garments that they once adorned.

As a collector and a witch I’ve often looked at my colourful collection and pondered the uses.

Uses

● Create symbols (or sigils) on clothing or cloth objects (cushions) by sewing them in place whilst focusing on your intent.

● Use them to give your poppets facial features.

● Use them in silencing spells to symbolise someone buttoning their lip. This is great for stopping someone spreading secrets or lies.

● Use them in binding spells.

● Wooden buttons represent earth and can be a great way of carrying that element with you. This works for shell buttons too as these represent water.
If you know the type of shell or wood then these properties can also be called upon.

● Wooden buttons are great for painting and decorating with sigils, words or symbols which can be worn.
You can do this on their face or if you’d prefer, on the back where others can’t view them. (Pyrography is great for this as it’s less likely to wear and wash off).

● Because of their inconspicuous nature, buttons are also useful for witches who are in the closet but want to carry elemental representations with them.

● Buttons often represent eyes and sight.

● Connection to the past and ancestral work can be achieved especially if you possess buttons that belonged to someone you wish to connect with.
Eg. Buttons from Naval or Army uniforms, wedding dresses

● They work as a nice and thrifty (inconspicuous) alternative to gemstones if you consider colour correspondences.

Many standard household items can be overlooked for their magickal uses.

It’s only when we sit down and really consider them that their light may shine.

If you sew, maybe take a look in your sewing box and consider the other uses your materials may have.

Just found this old book in the pile. Night Magic by Cassandra Eason a completely nostalgic book for the ideas that it introduces. The concept of a night-based magical practice is a fascinating one, working with deities and spirits of the night and tapping in to the powers of darkness. This book and Konstantinos’ Nocturnal Witchcraft were two books that I really resonated with when I first started practicing. There aren’t many books that focus specifically on nocturnal magic but there used to be a really questionable website dedicated to it. So it’s always been very intriguing to me

Nothing better then Ravensbrew in the morning while collecting lilacs for a tincture. Lilac tincture was one of my Mom’s favorite things to make and something I still make to this day…. Perfect for physical, mental, emotional and magical health. The scent of lilacs definitely feeds this witch’s soul.

Needed

A small box (one with a lock and made of wood is recommended)

Paper and Pens

This spell is designed to be worked over a period of time.

Put the box on your altar and place your hands on both sides of it. Visualise protective energy surrounding the box. The box is like a trap for negativity. Anything can enter it, but negativity cannot leave it. Speak the following words:

Anything put in here will stay, to be forever locked away.

Place the box somewhere safe.

Whenever you want to get rid of anything negative such as; fear, anxiety, anger, anything - write down exactly what you want to get rid of on a small slip of paper and put it in the box. Visualize the negativity being trapped in the box, where it can’t ever escape.  Each time, shut the box firmly and say:

I lock this negativity away.

When the box is full, build a fire and toss the papers into the flames and say:

All that harms is lost in the flame, so burn, fire, burn

Negativity is banished, never to return

You can also burn the papers in a small container like a cauldron or a simple fire place.

Take care my loves. -Nora

Stand with your feet 18 inches apart imagine reaching down to the center of the earth through the soles of your feet. Feel your roots sinking deep down into the earth from which you can draw energy.

Feel the energy being fed back to you, rising up through you towards the light. Reach your arms upward towards the light. Feel that enfeebled moving downwards through you. Let those energies mingle with those of the Earth. Allow all these new energies to swirl around and through you, cleansing, healing and balancing.

Say:

“Ostara, lady of flowers and strong new life. Be born anew in me tonight.”
