Farewell but not Forever
Months had passed since Ash joined the herd. Seeing how far Ash had come, from being a worn out war horse, to the proud stallion standing by her side, Comet was sure he was strong enough to leave the herd. With that thought, she too decided it was time for her to leave and start her own herd alongside Ash. Observing how the two young mustangs bonded, Spirit and Rain happily approved of their decision, and gave their blessings.
Knowing they had a long journey ahead, Ash and Comet both looked over the land they came to love one last time before they made their first steps towards a new future.
Dont worry! This wont be the last time we see these two! Just wanted to make them officially on their own!
Decided to add a couple more (spirit x rain) kids to the herd for funsies. Below you’ll see Soul (who I flipped and that’s why his leg is colored wrong ) and Stormy who belong to @juno_foxx and Brisa who belongs to @mint_dolphin27

Ash Meets Comet | Part 3 | With a huff, Spirit stood between Ash and Comet, questioning the strange stallion’s intentions with his daughter. Understanding his reaction, Ash lowered his head and ears, submitting to Spirit’s rage. The wild buckskin looked over his daughter for wounds, and with none in sight Spirit sighed in relief. Looking back at Ash, he noticed the wounds on his face and hind that reminded Spirit of his own past. Knowing he needed to get back to his herd, Spirit allowed Ash to join them to let him explain more while in the safety of numbers.
Ash and Spirit talked into the early morning, sharing stories of their past relations with humans. Now better understanding, Spirit apologized for acting so aggressively when they met, but Ash shook his head and grinned, knowing full well he would have done the same. A few hundred feet away Comet watched with envy, chewing quietly and listening to as much as she could. Rain reassured Comet with a tail swipe to the leg. The young mare grunted while her mother chuckled and reminded her daughter to be patient. To be continued!

Ash Meets Comet | Part 2 | In the time it took waiting for the rain to stop, night had fallen. The clouds finally began to dissipate revealing the starry sky, and Ash left the pine that had sheltered him. The first thing he planned to do was wait to come across a herd or another lone stallion to partner up with for a short time. He knew being alone was dangerous for a horse, and being a male would make it difficult to join a herd. In a stroke of luck Ash noticed a lone mare stargazing on a ledge not 200 feet away. He let out a whinny, hoping to get her attention. Indeed the mare turned towards the sudden outburst and saw a strange stallion she’d never seen before. To be continued!

Comet Mustang of the Cimarron
Comet all grown up! This was a good challenge! I was able to do the whole background scene from Spirit, except for the clouds. Those are the original from the movie and belong to DreamWorks. Hope you’ve enjoyed me binge drawing this little lady!

1. The Aristocats
This is probably the first film I ever loved! My mother says she watched like a hawk for the day it came out on VHS so that she could get it for me. My dad used to sing “Everybody Wants to be a Cat” with me…luckily for both of us, this was before social media. XD I could still quote this movie by heart!
“You’re not a lady…you’re nothin’ but a sister!”
2. Land Before Time
These movies were a cornerstone of my childhood! We watched every. single. one. of these when they came out. The original is still my favorite, though!
3. The Fox and the Hound
Does anyone have to explain why they love Fox & the Hound? It’s an absolutely beautiful story of both friendship and found family. I still cry every time Todd gets left in the woods! :’(
4. Jurassic Park
Ah, the days when my brother and I both swore we wanted to be paleontologists! We read very dinosaur book our library had to offer after this movie came out! We watched it so many times the tape busted…then we taped it back together and watched it some more! XD
5. Star Wars
My father grew up with these movies and was so excited to share them with his children! I watched the first one when I was 4 and fell in love. When The Force Awakens hit theaters, I cried from the nostalgia of the opening scrawl…when I first saw that yellow text scrolling up the screen, my dad had to read it to me because I couldn’t read yet! These movies still hold a place near and dear to my heart.
6. Harry Potter & the Sorcerer’s Stone
I was THAT kid in school. The Harry Potter fanatic that was the first to read all of the books as soon as they came out. The first movie is still my favorite and is such a faithful adaptation of the book. This series marked my first major foray into fandom and fanfiction, and so will always hold a special place in my heart…even if JK Rowling is a bitch.
7. Mulan
I still watch this movie when I’m having a bad day. Beautiful animation, catchy songs, and a lovely story of doing what is right and struggling to find your true self. Disney at its best!
8. Beauty and the Beast
Another nostalgic childhood fave. I saw so much of myself in Belle as the bookworm and town oddity who wanted more than the simple life society had allotted for her. The animation and music are also stunning!
9. Pocahontas
90s Disney was the best Disney. Hands down. Even though this story couldn’t be much further from the truth of history, I still love it for having a strong, courageous heroine…as well as one who chooses her people over her fella at the end!
10. Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron
I LOVED horses as a kid and this is definitely one of the best horse movies! I didn’t even notice as a kid how little dialogue it has for the most part. The animation is beautiful and Bryan Adams crafted a killer soundtrack! My dad didn’t even mind me watching this one on repeat!

I rewatched Spirit for the first time as an adult and holy shit I remember loving this movie bc I was a weird horse girl but goddamn that movie is actually so good??? The soundtrack is FIRE. Hans Zimmer really said take no prisoners.

It dawned on me recently that I gave all three of my Spirit x Rain foals in my Spirit Riding Free rewrite pinto markings which has gotten really tedious to draw so I decided to go retro a little and give Ghost (Spirit’s aforementioned son) back his old design, only his stockings are now white instead of black
I think this design is here to stay this time
