“For a teacher to recognize unconventional thinking and to say ‘you’re on to something, keep going’ really that was a game changer for me, because I felt seen.”

Isn’t that what we all want?  To be seen?  To have someone recognize what’s special inside of each of us?   Can you do that for someone in your life?

If I was a teacher after a holiday…byThomas Sanders

[Teacher: Alright whose happy to be back?!
Student: Absolutely no one!
Teacher: Me neither, let’s get the heck outta here!

Teacher: I’m going, I’m going!
Students: Hurry up!
(car horn honks continuously)
Running student: WAIT!]

I, once, told my teacher I have social anxiety and have existential crises form time to time due to constant years of bullying

And guess what….

She was like ‘then don’t let them hate’

Like hoe, if it were that easy I wouldn’t be going through it in the first place

But noooo….

It’s as easy as pie to not have those belittling words to swim through your head by almost every other person in your existence

But s’ok

It wasn’t as if I needed an advice I had been giving myself for years and actually tried going through with it while constantly having a new comment pour upon me to be said out loud and magically work

Thanks for helping. I appreciate it…

“Not use collective punishment as it is not fair on the many people who did nothing and under the 1949 Geneva Conventions it is a war crime.”

Wait it’s a fucking WAR CRIME?!?! I mean that might not be 100% accurate but now I gotta know

holy crap, collective punishment is a war crime.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fourth_Geneva_Convention#Collective_punishments

and according to the exact legal phrasing-

Noprotected person may be punished for an offense he or she has not personally committed. Collective penalties and likewise all measures of intimidation or of terrorism are prohibited.

This technically counts, as students are civilians, and thus considered a “protected person”. So yes, collective classroom punishment breaks the fourth Geneva Convention, and she should be rewarded for standing up for human rights and doing her research.

Power-move: accuse your teacher of a war crime using knowledge they supplied you with

History teachers describing 2020

Hello!

First off, to my followers that are not teachers, I apologize.

Second…I am looking for teachers/education students to take a survey for a college research project. (I am studying predominantly Finnish and American educators, but others are encouraged to participate).

I am a senior education student as well as an honor student. In order to graduate with honors I must conduct a research study related to my major. I am studying the differences between American and Finnish education systems. For my study I have created an anonymous survey to hear your opinions / experiences as educators….

HERE is the link to the survey.

Please share this with your teacher friends / reblog / participate. I need all the help I can get!

Thanks everyone!

Science teacher appreciation post

Chem teacher: *holding a flaming styrofoam cup and smiling* well this isn’t going to work

Bio teacher: *lifts two of the largest guys in my class over his shoulder like sacks of potatoes* see, Mark was easier to pick up because I had him stand on a stool, thats what enzymes do

Physics teacher: *holds up a skateboard* You are all going to build crash barriers based on what we have learned this unit. I will sit on this and be launched into them to measure the force they absorb. You all fail if I end up in the ER.

Honestly science teachers love what they teach so much and they are why I love science. Also is being crazy like a job requirement?
